Jack Philips is the Christian baker from Colorado who is heading to the Supreme Court after he was sued for declining a job baking a same-sex wedding cake. You’d expect that he’s getting support from Christians and conservatives. But here’s a surprise: he says he’s also received hundreds of messages of support from gay people.
Phillips says gay supporters are writing him to say they believe persecuting him for his faith is not right and politically motivated. They say they just want to live their lives, and these radical activists are making all gay people look like terrorists. On the other hand, about 1300 liberal religious leaders and groups have filed a court brief arguing that he should be forced to provide his services to everyone regardless of whether it violates his personal religious beliefs.
