Today's Edition

In Friday’s developments around the COVID-19 coronavirus (or more accurately, “Wuhan virus”) pandemic, cases continued to rise, with New York City experiencing an average of one death per hour from it. But efforts to combat it are moving swiftly, such as making ventilators from 3D printers...

...And some treatments are showing early positive results.

President Trump announced that our southern border is being closed to nonessential trade. Also, he dismissed talk of a national lockdown and said that he’s suspended certain federal student loan payments for the next 60 days, and the Department of Education won’t enforce standardized test requirements for the current year. Also, the deadline for filing income taxes is being moved from April 15 to July 15.

President Trump rebukes the press

By Mike Huckabee

President Trump is not famous for his patience with disrespectful, politically-grandstanding reporters, but when he’s dealing with a pandemic is not the time to get on his bad side.

On the other hand, I think Trump might have finally found a White House reporter he likes. All I can say is that after reading this, I sure like her.

Speaking of political grandstanders who masquerade as reporters, a woman infamous for spending two years peddling wild, bogus “Russian collusion” conspiracy theories on national television thinks that President Trump’s daily coronavirus briefings should be banned from TV because those are just “fairy tales.” Well, they won’t be, and if that makes her live unhappily ever after, then so be it.

Last night, Senators worked late trying to reach agreement on a stimulus bill to help workers and businesses survive the pandemic shutdown. At this writing, the idea of two rounds of $1000 checks per person seems to have been replaced with one $1200 check and $250 billion to shore up the unemployment insurance program, to insure that people thrown out of work keep getting regular checks to help cover their bills. The latest proposal is that the one-time payments would phase out above $75,000 a year gross incomes for individuals and $150,000 for couples. Here are more details, but it’s not worth spending too much time on until some agreement is reached, because chances are good that the details will keep changing.

Iowa Republican Sen. Joni Ernst has proposed a bill that would take $350 million from the “obsolete and outdated” Presidential Election Campaign Fund (set up to reduce special interest influence, but campaigns have become so expensive that no candidate uses it anymore) and direct the money to health efforts instead.

On the other hand, Mike Bloomberg has something better to do with the $18 million he still has left over in his campaign fund: he’ll give it to Democrats to help them take the government back over on all levels and handle this virus as well as they did the swine flu. A reminder: he self-funded his campaign, so that’s actually just giving $18 million from him to the Democrats, who oppose letting billionaires buy elections, if I recall correctly.

By the way, he could also use it to pay his laid-off staffers through November, as they claim they were promised, but instead they’ll only be paid through April 1. Well, they trusted Mike Bloomberg, so April Fool!

News That Got Overlooked: Tuesday, there were three special elections for state House seats in Pennsylvania, and the Republicans won all three. Since all the incumbents were Republicans, this normally wouldn’t be news – except that one seat was in a district that Hillary won by 9 points in 2016. The “experts” expected it to go Democrat this time around.

Instead, the Republican won by a comfortable margin, and during an election when the Democrats had a heated contest to goose turnout, while the Republicans had no big incentive to show up. But they did anyway. Maybe that’s another reason why this story didn’t make the news.

And one more story from the bottom of the news feed: Bill Weld has ended his challenge to President Trump for the GOP Presidential nomination. Someone alert the media!

Reminder: Many small businesses and entrepreneurs are being hurt by all the coronavirus shutdowns. If you’d like to help your local businesses survive, remember that many of them have online stores where you can purchase products for delivery. Or you can buy gift cards from local businesses and restaurants now and use them once this is over.

Bible Verse of the Day (KJV)

"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."

300 deaths / 329 million people in the US = .00009% of the population. This is insane! What are "they" really up to? 500+ pedestrians are killed by motor vehicles per month in the US. Do we shut down all vehicles or disallow people from walking? I didn't think so.

Mike, those Government checks Should be sent FIRST to those people in the service industry who are being laid off due to the COMMUNIST Chinese virus!
I’m talking about the waiters, waitresses, cooks, hotel maids, cleaning personnel.
How about propping up the small businesses with some kind of support payments so that they can keep their workers and their businesses.
Sure we’d like to get a check or two, but there ARE people who in more need then my Bride and I.

I wonder why with 2 trillion dollars they can give away and they still find a way to tax my Social Security? My Standard of living did not go down Healthcare costs have gone up my Property tax went up car insurance went up no claims no tickets going out for lunch has gone up raise the price of help and the tip goes down and so does the frequency of going out. What gives other seniors still footing the bill.

Mike this all bout politics and money. The democratic mayors and governors are taking stupid far extreme left measures in order to make them sick of Trump. He has been doing good. All the things he has done in the last three years they are undoing over a stupid virus that has a death rate of around one percent while others have been as high as 10% in folks had shots for. When a Democratic governor of California can issue an edict to 40,000,000 to confine themselves to quarters, it is totally irrational and idiotic and extremely radical move. By God it’s gonna be a war in this country if something doesn’t end this thing quick. I think our good president has walked into the biggest trap that the democrats and liberal news media has ever hatched up. It had went past common sense and evolved into tyrannical. The destruction of our economy equals the collapse of a nation and the liberal socialist have been trying to do this welfare after welfare for years. Carl Marx and Lenin started this model of downfalls decades ago. Take away guns, burgeon the welfare rolls, nationalize labor and walk in and take over. I don’t agree with any of this stupid stuff that is going on. They are telling every citizen in this United States that we are too stupid to take care of business and we need Uncle Sam to takeover and run our business. We might as well let Putin run in the next election. I am a Trump fan, but he is killing himself political wise unless he can turn this thing around, he is going to be history. He will have to stop this mess with executive orders cause the democrats sure aren’t going to conjure up a favorable bill to end it. They hate Trump.

Corona-19, SARS, SWINE and MERS are all of the same family and all out of China. NO ONE thought this would be this bad and no one understood how dilapidated and antiquated our health system was / is.
The very same people that criticized Trump for not doing enough and not doing it fast enough were also critical of the spending he is doing and the agility he is portraying in this crises. And again I challenge any and all of them to come up with something better, faster and safer. Get em out of their armchairs.
This is yet another watershed moment in an administration that will be known for changing everything. This virus will be as trans-formative as 9-11 was. Currently we have
Drive in theaters making a comeback (social distancing)
we have families spending time together (shelter in home)
we have parents active in the education of their children
we are schooling our children in an entirely different way and it may be better. I for one can envision the school campus being a place where the faculty only stages the curriculum (LIKE TV STATIONS) for interactive daily broadcasting VIA the WEB.
Core and common testing is being challenged by this new way of teaching as well
More work in the medical services, facilities and equipment industries being generated
the services industry is ON IT'S EAR as people learn new ways to dine and socialize
some folks are putting off retirement until after the economy is back in a good state
For the record, I was priced out of the stock market. NOW I'm prepping for round two
lets hope this virus is the last nail in the coffin for MALLS IN AMERICA. (Just me)
they did kill spring break tho and I sorta hate that but hey it wasn't that big until MTV so in reality, it just going back to normal
I am watching new industries sprouting up everywhere. 3-D printing is now making medical devices, houses and a myriad of other products
Amazon is hiring drivers to satiate the demand for the delivery of all manner of consumables
Public transportation is getting a HARD long look at long last . As are Air Travel and cruise ships Hell lets just say MASS TRANSIT is being rethought.
The gaming industry is trying to bring virtual sporting events. I like the thought of Avatars that I can interact with. New twist for the Super Bowl
after the crises passes what passes for “normal” will look very different

Retired RN and worked ICU in Fla. Looked up on the CDC the rates for the FLU. 2018 79,000 died US. Child 116 . Worldwide FLU can vary at 250,00 to 500,000? Even find the ages etc. What has been done by this death rate and hospitalization get on and ck out? We hear about the cost now of most of the world the airline industry. Where are the Chinese offering to step up and handle this per they had this virus and kept silent? WHY? Like to know how many vents have been used I hear we needed thousands more but what was used in Italy and what did they not have? Say China is sending all kinds of medical now to Italy? Cuba sending Dr. Also get on CDC and see ages of death per this VIRUS. Also ck on that they believe so far about 45% carry this virus and no symptoms? So far. Many things we are to learn over time? If we can come up with a vaccine or that this Malaria drugs help takes time not overnight. Learn what happened that Italy was hit so hard and S Korea was able to curtail how bad ? All of this will be of help in the future. Now be interesting to want to know more on the FLU why so many have died lack of the shots , the ages, WHY? Listen to the medical Dr now and experts and follow. President Trump is doing the most he can and yes this is the CHINESE VIrus. Not the Chinese People not their fault but those who control their lives in China? Pray.

I'm glad he puts them in their place because no matter what he does, they are determined to find fault trying to make him look stupid and or bad. But it always backfires on them. He is a leader, a genius and he loves this country! GOD BLESS HIM AND PROTECT HIM!??????

Most politicians are self serving as Mike Bloomberg indicates maybe with a little pressure from the public eye he may change his mind. !8 million dollars would look good in the coffers of tunnel to towers or St. Judes Hospital but thats Bloomberg anti American policy at all costs. Nice Mike. Pretty much what the Left's structure would look like and does look like as the Left controlled Congress indicates nothing for the American Citizen that enhances American Family or Business life. Does the people on the Left ever wonder why people in parts of Chicago NY LA SF SEA Baltimore have big problems led by the Left they don't care about them they only assist people with big money big money allows big homes big cars and big bank accounts.
