Today’s reminder that electing Joe Biden will cost you big time: On top of his vow to reverse the Trump income tax cut on day one, here’s a round-up of some of the recent instances of Biden vowing to double (or more) the capital gains tax, which would devastate investors and retirees, and obliterate business expansion and American job creation.

Biden is also vowing to make all cars zero-emission by 2035. At the risk of quoting his former boss, that’s going to take a magic wand. Or more likely, making every American too poor to buy a car.

And I feel I should point this out, since it tends to get lost in all the larger insanely bad economic ideas Joe is haltingly reading off his TelePrompter these days: he wants the government to subsidize Americans trading in their cars on new low-emission vehicles. Sound eerily familiar

That’s right: among all the other failed ideas of the past that “progressives” want to resuscitate is Obama’s “Cash For Clunkers” program. That cost taxpayers $3 billion, and studies since found that it had a negligible effect on stimulating the economy or car sales (most of the money went to people who were already planning to buy a car), a slight effect on carbon emissions (but not cost effective), and it harmed charities that resell donated cars and poor people who buy used cars because the government took so many older cars off the market and crushed them.

It’s one of those ideas that are so embarrassingly bad that most people would say, “Let us never speak of it again.” But those are the kind of ideas that tend to be repeated over and over by the left. It’s their most popular form of recycling.

Today’s corporations will go to some pretty absurd lengths to appeal to eco-consumers, but Burger King has just raised (or lowered) the bar with a commercial for its new burger made from cows that burp and fart less greenhouse gas than your average bovine. The cows are on a lemongrass diet that reduces methane. The commercial features young viral celebrity/country music yodeler Mason Ramsey extolling in song the virtues of less-flatulent cows.

Now, if only we could get green politicians like AOC to emit less gas.

As long as we’re on the subject, Amazon is also running an inadvertently horrifying eco-ad, as my bird-loving writers Pat and Laura, who rescue homeless parrots, point out. The spot starts with white text on a black background, listing all the ways in which Amazon is going green, such as electric vehicles, to eliminate carbon emissions. This is accompanied only by the lulling, natural sound of birds chirping.

Then at the end of the ad, the text gives way to video of how they plan to accomplish this: with a field full of spinning wind power turbines. Or as Pat and Laura call them, “Bird Cuisinarts.” Those spinning blades dice, slice, chop and slaughter countless birds, as well as bats that are also vital to the eco-system. All to produce a tiny fraction of the clean energy that can be generated by a safe, modern nuclear plant. Enjoy the bird songs while you can.

The NYPD Crime Stoppers are offering a $2500 reward for the identity of a man who brutally assaulted police officers with a bat during a protest at the Brooklyn Bridge. Video of him and more information is at this link:

Video also appears to show the “peaceful protesters” receiving a shipment of bats from a car shortly before the protest.

I’ll let you know whether Mayor DeBlasio blames the bat assault on the cops or President Trump. If you think I’m being flippant, note that the leftist Mayor of Portland blames the street violence and graffiti in his city on the Department of Homeland Security Agents there, and he’s demanding that they clean the graffiti off and leave town, even as he refuses to let Trump send in federal troops to end the lawlessness in his own city. I guess he must’ve heard all the talk about DeBlasio being the worst mayor in America and said, “Hold muh latte!”…

In truth, all of this lawlessness, violence and filth is going on in cities run for decades entirely by Democrats. It’s the natural order of things that leftists impose their insane failed policies and make a huge mess. On rare occasions, the people wake up and realize it’s necessary to elect Republicans to clean up the left’s disasters (as Rudy Giuliani did in New York.) But even then, sadly, memories are short. Voters start to think that a clean, successful city runs itself. They forget what it was like, so they think it's safe to put a DeBlasio back in power. And they discover just how quickly it can all slide back into the sewer.

If you want to see what happens when you elect leftists for too long, and then let them institute their own “solutions” to the problems they caused themselves instead of calling in a Republican to fix it, look at this shocking report from San Francisco. First, the city’s leaders let it be taken over by homeless people with crime, mental and addiction problems. Then came COVID-19 (on top of all the other diseases that were coming back from the Middle Ages.) Leftist solution: put the homeless people into the empty hotels. So how is that "fix" working out? The words “disaster” and “pandemonium” in the headline should give you a clue.

I have to warn you, this story requires a strong stomach to read. You probably should also avoid it if you’re prone to spikes in your blood pressure from things that are infuriating.

A massive Twitter hack yesterday struck the accounts of a number of prominent people, including Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Bill Gates, Michael Bloomberg, Benjamin Netanyahu, Kanye West, Elon Musk and others, including brands such as Apple and Uber. The hackers sent out messages allegedly from those people, saying that if you sent $1000 in Bitcoins to a linked account, they would “give back to the community” by giving you $2000 in return. The account collected about $110,000 before the scam was shut down.

For the record, I will never ask you to send any money to my Bitcoin account because I don’t even have one. And I will never promise you that you give me $1000, you’ll get $2000 in return, because I am not a Democrat.

Probably the most important, most overdue (and let’s all pray, not too late) action that conservatives, classic liberals and anyone who cares about preserving America could implement is to take back our education system from the radical leftists who’ve used it to indoctrinate rather than educate. They've have misled generations of young Americans into hating their own nation and the unparalleled opportunities and blessings it’s given them. President Trump is finally talking about revoking the tax-exempt status of such universities.

However, federal law prohibits the IRS from questioning an organization’s tax-exempt status based on its political beliefs (not that that stopped the IRS from doing it to Tea Party organizations during the “scandal-free” Obama Administration.) But George Washington University law Prof. John Banzhaf has another suggestion for a way to bring these rogue universities under control, and there’s already an executive order from 2019 that provides the legal pathway.

Under EO 13864, any student, faculty member or possibly campus organization that believes the school has violated its free speech rights can file a formal complaint, which could result in the school losing federal grants. What do you think the odds are of being able to find multiple examples of such violations at virtually any of today’s “woke” colleges and universities? The EO has yet to be tested legally, but it’s certainly fair. Any liberals who think a conservative college has silenced them can also file a complaint, if such a unicorn-level rarity actually exists. And even if the college wins the legal fight, it will be long, expensive and publicly embarrassing.

This post at Instapundit has full details…

It’s certainly food for thought. Let’s hope that President Trump puts it on the White House menu today.

I heard, around 1980, that Eddie "Rochester" Anderson - Jack Benny's valet on radio beginning in 1937, and TV until 1973. He built or modified a hotel for the homeless in Los Angeles. Within one year, it was totally trashed. Word has it that his death in 1977 was from a broken heart.

Reading the section on San Francisco and housing the homeless, makes me cringe. Has Anyone Ever found a sensible and effective way to help the homeless, the lost souls of our civilization. I wonder, has anyone searched history to ancient cities to see if they had the same problem and what was done then. As in Rome, possibly they had the same situation and that was part of their downfall. It seems these people have become unable to manage life and living. To help them, it would take one on one caretakers, someone to watch every choice they make and direct them to a better path, until they are stable. I, Too, thought using empty hotels would help these people, but I'm a sane person and these people can't handle sane and sensible situations, thus they have trashed the hotels along with their lives. Is this whole thing utterly hopeless?

Not sure how the electric car movement will fare, but during the summers in Southern California, we often have "brownouts" or "blackouts" because the grid can't handle all of the draw from all of our air conditioning units. Add a couple million electric cars to that need and just imagine the fallout. How do you charge your car? How can you Zoom from home? How do you make coffee?

I've seen that ad from Amazon concerning spinning wind power turbines. I wonder how many birds are killed a day. A couple other thought cross my mind. How many acres of trees are cleared to put them up. Also how many of those things would need to be put up to power a city like New York, Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami or even Jacksonville.

I have realized the ignorance, a % of this country's population at about 35 % today as I watched the national news I believe the % is hovering around 55% as I see the mayor of Portland speak and the policy he has complete ignorance DeBlasio speaks complete ignorance and in the background he has people cheering like chimpanzees after receiving a treat people around this country are being fed lies about how the leadership in liberal run communities are making everything better for them. Has the liberal leadership turned off all communication to their citizens like North Korea has, do the citizens even know how horrible they are being treated? the IGNORANCE is the Pandemic here people in Liberal run cities need to pull their heads out of the sand get off the drugs you have ruined yourselves your community and the country itself clear your brains and get rid of the horrible drug call Liberal leadership. Life will be worth your time you are like rats running on a tread wheel going nowhere but down no human rights if you had communication outside your community you would be a sister to North Korea. Not Good.

Hi mike, just wanted to let you know we host a turbine on our location and there is not a pile of birds on one side or a pile of bats on the other. It has been in operation for 12 years. There are a lot of misconceptions about the turbines and that is one of them. I am also a master electrician and have done work on our fossil fuel power plants which are necessary for primary power production. We also need nuclear power. I appreciate all that president trump is doing to keep our fossil fuel and nuclear plants in operation. Coal can be made to burn clean. I have been on projects to help improve that. Just some information for your consideration from someone that is impacted by political decisions. Thanks for your work on bringing us well vetted news.

My mother is in assisted living in a blue state, and is bombarded by bad news about the Chinese virus and everything else that's been happening.
She's tired of being unable to go to the dining room and otherwise mix with others, and she's alarmed by the news.
The Dems refuse Trump's offers to help, and blame the virus, chaos, and isolation on Trump. Many older people are used to trusting the mainstream media and the politicians, and believe them when they say that Trump is the problem. He needs to get his message to this group of people.

    Hi Mike,

Can you explain to us why colleges are receiving federal grants in the first place? They charge students $40,000 per year or more. You tell us here that they don't have to pay taxes on their profits, and then we the tax payers are paying them to run their businesses? Why, why, why? It sounds like total corruption to me.

Just a few questions you might address in future news letters: 1) Why aren't the people allowed to vote on government terms our senators and representatives are allowed to run in? 2) Why aren't the people allowed to vote on pay raises for senators and representatives? 3) When are we going to have a reasonable formula for calculating a reasonable cost of living adjustment for social security? 4) possibly we can be reminded when and who took money from the social security funds that has been causing a short fall for future recipients?

Electric cars are ultimately not emission free. They have to be recharged from the electrical grid which has generating plants that mostly burn various fuels to create the electricity needed to charge these "emission free" vehicles.

Also, if all land transportation goes electric we will need a massive increase to the electric generation and distribution grid to provide this recharging energy.

Since it takes much longer to recharge a battery powered car than to fill the gas tank on an internal combustion vehicle we will need far more individual vehicle "fueling points" than are now required for our current vehicles.

Lots of luck with all of that!

Hi Mike, This comment has to do with all the email and mail I get from my Republican running candidates. This week I have received both mail and emails from fourteen candidates and others (including yours) endorsing Congressional and Senate candidates requesting money. While I have supported and continue to support several Republican candidates, I also support Dr. Ralph Reed, Founder and Chairman of FAITH AND FREEDOM COALATION. I can only provide limited financial aide. There is also a tremendous need to continue to support religious and secular, local organizations that provide assistance to people in need of food, clothing, shelter and etc. Money is not the only thing that will bring us victory in November, but ALSO A LOT OF PRAYERS.

As to the wind turbines. Not only are they a hazard to bird life, they are, what I term "Visual Pollution". Anyone who has seen fields of these, in what used to be beautiful landscapes, knows what I mean. My first view of this came when I drove to visit my daughter in Northwest Texas years ago. It is a vast area of what were beautiful mesas, which are now covered in wind turbines. That is just one instance of many. Makes me cry to see God's art so unmercifully vandalized!

I am breaking my word by commenting-BUT is anyone even slightly interested in WHY Obama selected Biden as his running mate? HINT! It was NOT because of his Brilliance. Like Lenin, Obana NEEDED a USEFUL IDIOT. Do as your told and stay where I put you....Reminds me of the Democratic Power Brokers selecting Harry Truman for FDR's #2, they were aware FDR would never complete another term and wanted to 'have an INSURANCE POLICY' that they could CONTROL. BAD CHOICE..

Tv pastor 11:30am last Sunday morning Ron Carpenter stated: When you first learn about a religion, a person is thinking is my action right or wrong? When a person becomes older and is more customer to their religion, the person's thoughts should be: "Is this a wise or smart thing to do?". If cops leave couldn't that cause banks to close up and leave? If there is no police department to respond to bank robberies show me a CEO that would have their bank stay open. Also decisions based upon feelings/emotions alone which come and go can have consequences. If John Doe just got married and then a friend who was at the wedding tells John: " I saw your new wife with another man at Checkers."
Heart alone view (World view): " My wife is already cheating on me and only after 3 days".
Mind and Heart together view: Maybe the man is a relative OR could the man be a counselor OR could the man be tutoring the wife in a 2nd language so she can be eligible for a promotion at work.
Also to stop the hate, pray that everyone becomes the driver in control of all their emotions especially anger. Is it wise to tick off local wildlife in area such as bears and wolves? Could they react- loss of habitation?
