A "gift to the rich"

I recently wrote about how the left can’t win a debate by citing the success of their policies – like, anywhere – so they have to keep constantly changing the terms.  For instance, liberals became “progressives” who call illegal aliens “immigrants” and taxes “contributions” and propaganda “news.”  Here are some more examples from David Harsanyi, taken from the hysterical reaction to the GOP tax reform bill. 

He left out one of Nancy Pelosi’s favorites: it’s a “gift to the rich.”  Because letting you keep a little bit more of the money you earned is a “gift” from Washington.  Why, to believe that, someone would have to believe that all money belongs to the government and it’s only through their generosity that you are allowed to have anything at all!  Oh, wait…of course.  For a second there, I forgot who we were talking about.

    I found the perfect way to avoid paying any taxes whatsoever...live to the age of 84 and pay your bills on your Social Security check. I worked for 40 years...I deserve to get my money back.

    That's similar to Paul Ryan saying Social Security is an entitlement. It IS not and Congress should pay back what they 'borrowed.'

    2 bad we just cant "tithe" to the Govt 10% & be done with Taxes totally, save Sales Tax.
    No Income tax unless U make say 90K a year.
    Or tier Income tax by Income.
    (& No winning prizes U dont pay taxes save cars, trucks etc then X% for).
    Besides Tax Dems more they LOVE Taxes, so tax them MORE.

    I await my gift from the Govt...why is it called a "gift"? I think I will "save" $200 - that should help the Debt if I spend it, right?

    Since most in Congress are worth millions, might they forfeit their "public servant" pay and benefits back into the federal budget. They earn about $176,000/yr x 535 members = $94,160,000. of the annual budget, plus pension, medical benefits with Obamacare credit ($12,000/yr)because they each claim themselves as a small business with less than 50 employees. I thought that the staff was considered federal employees paid for by the American peoples tax dollars. If so, double dipping?? They sure know how to spew their indignations for the cameras but you sure don't see them putting their money where their mouths are! They are all HYPOCRITES! Maybe they should take a lesson from President Trump and donate their salaries to a charity.

    Nancy's Armeggedon speech was just a new way to pander to the middle and lower class income earners. When she was Speaker, she managed to get into the jet set with her own private (government issued) plane.

    We have been suffering from the "bag lady syndrome" for as long as I have memories. My lefty friend would complain about the "bag ladies" in Manhattan and shout at me that someone had to do something about these poor indigent women. Finally I asked her why not take one of them home? She rolled her eyes and said "don't be ridiculous." I rest my case.

    Since when did it become a crime to have wealth in this country. Nancy's worth 65 million. If she feels so badly about being wealthy she can always donate he wealth to the Federal government. So can the bulk of the Hollywood stars who complain about the poor, the immigrents, etc. I don't see too many of they living the simple life. People are living on the streets and going hungry. Ophra, how many homes do you own? Actions speak louder than words.

    Since the rich pay 90% of the taxes, it should be alright if they get a little break.
