I must be getting old because I remember when the New York Times’ motto was “All the news that’s fit to print” and not “We’ll print any moldy old garbage as long as it makes Trump look bad.”

At the link is President Trump’s response to the Times’ big “scoop” from 30 years ago: that Trump’s tax forms from the ‘80s and ‘90s listed heavy losses and loans that on paper showed him billions in debt and saved him having to pay any taxes.

I already pointed out that this was typical for that era when both real estate and the tax code were going through major upheavals and everyone in the industry was using depreciation and every other deduction and loophole to stay afloat.  But I didn’t mention that this is such old and well-trod news that Trump actually wrote a book about it 22 years ago called “The Art of the Comeback” and talked openly about it on “The Apprentice.”

With gratitude,

Mike Huckabee

Brace yourself

By Mike Huckabee

You might want to sit down and brace yourself before reading this:  The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco has overturned a lower court and sided with President Trump on an immigration policy.

Okay, has the dizziness passed?  Then I’ll continue:  In a surprise ruling, the three-judge panel struck down an injunction blocking the Administration from continuing to send Central American migrants back to Mexico while their requests for asylum in the U.S. are adjudicated. Their claims that they might face dangers if sent back were blunted by the fact that Mexico has agreed to honor international law and grant them humanitarian status and work permits. (So if they were really fleeing danger in their native nations of Central America, they could have stopped in Mexico and asked for asylum, but that's another issue.)

This is only a temporary stay while the panel considers the full case, which you can read at this link:

Judging from the comments from the two Obama and Clinton-appointed judges, I wouldn’t count on a Trump win on the larger issue (this will likely go to the SCOTUS to settle.)  But when the situation on the border is so bad (in this case, 2,000 migrants a day arrive and claim asylum, many so they can be released on the US side and disappear) that even judges on the 9th Circuit Court are forced to face reality...well, that is a watershed moment akin to the New York Times Editorial Board finally admitting there’s a crisis on the border.

Howard Kurtz on congressional antics: It's just "one giant mudball"

By Mike Huckabee

Howard Kurtz Wednesday on FOX News’ OUTNUMBERED OVERTIME, as Dems threaten to hold Barr in contempt: “With Democrats also demanding that Mueller testify, with Democrats also demanding the President’s tax returns, it’s all become some --- one giant mudball that’s gonna keep rolling on, and I think a lot of people are gonna tune [it] out, as just another Beltway melodrama.”

In honor of Mother's Day

By Mike Huckabee

In honor of Mothers’ Day on Sunday, and in honor of all the recent efforts to change hearts and minds and end abortion, here is something that I know will brighten your day.  You’ll want to share it with everyone, especially your mom.

This is a heartwarming video for a beautiful new pro-life song called “Dear Mom.”  It’s by Paul Lubanski, and it was passed along to me by “Huckabee” writer Laura Ainsworth after Paul shared it with her via her Facebook fan page. Like having children, this video might make you cry at certain times, but I’m sure it will also make you smile a lot.

A reminder that my friend and regular “Huckabee” show contributor, comedienne Chonda Pierce, has a wonderful new movie in theaters this week only, via Fathom Events (and I don’t say it’s wonderful just because I’m in it, too.)  It’s called “Unashamed,” and it includes her hilarious stand-up comedy as well as her moving and inspirational account of coping with the death of her husband and interviews with others who lived their Christian faith unashamed, even in times of personal tragedy or attacks from secular society. Today is your last chance to catch it, and believe me, you will love it. You can watch the trailer and find a theater near you at this link:

New information about STEM school shooting suspect

By Mike Huckabee

Here’s some new information about one of the suspects in the STEM school shooting in Highlands Ranch, Colorado, that wounded eight people and killed Kendrick Castillo, a heroic student who tried to tackle one of the shooters. You should click the link because this is so destructive to the usual media narrative on mass shooters that you’re not likely to hear it anywhere else.

You’re unlikely to hear it because the mainstream media are invested heavily in promoting a particular narrative, such as CNN’s shocking (and false) claim that there have been 15 school shootings just since the beginning of 2019.  As the link shows, while all these incidents are terrible occurrences, they aren’t “school shootings,” as anyone defines them.  Unless you consider, for instance, an adult being shot when he confronted another adult breaking into his car in a high school track parking lot at night to be a “school shooting.”

Quotes from our Presidents

“The object of love is to serve, not to win.”

- Woodrow Wilson

Earth to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi

By Mike Huckabee

Earth to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi:  No, Congress is NOT “the superior branch of government.”

The Constitution (it’s a great document, you should read it sometime) defines the legislative, executive and judicial as three co-equal branches of government, with checks and balances in place to insure that none of them can ever become greater in power than the other two.

When you take away the balances, you get something that’s unbalanced…which apparently brings us back to Speaker Pelosi again.

Shocking immigration statistic

By Mike Huckabee

Sure, there’s no immigration crisis on the border.  Okay, so it turns out that 1% of the entire populations of Guatemala and Honduras have entered the US just since September alone.  But hey, that means 99% of them are still in Central America, right?  So no problem!
