Great point: The NBA declared North Carolina to be too oppressive a state to do business in because they expect people to use the bathroom that matches their actual genetic gender, but fell over themselves to kowtow to communist China.  No hypocrisy there!

This is why we need uncensored, unafraid comedians.  Both the NBA and "social justice warrior" millennials should read this and learn a lesson from "South Park." I know the show can be very offensive, but this time, its creators offended the right people in exactly the right way.

Kudos to a new trend by a growing number of stores that are choosing to stay closed on Thanksgiving Day.  At the link is a list of about 35 major chains that are expected to remain closed so that employees can spend the day with their families. Most have always closed on Thanksgiving, but not only are they refusing to yield to pressure and open, but some other chains, such as Stein Mart, that did open previously now plan to be closed.

Let’s get this out of the way upfront: I have nothing against capitalism, and I don’t begrudge anyone who wants to go out and shiver in line at 3 a.m. on a holiday Friday morning, hoping to score a cheap laptop or whatever on Black Friday. But in recent years, as stores feared competitors getting an hour’s jump on the Black Friday market, they started pushing the opening times earlier and earlier until they were opening on Thanksgiving night.  That meant their employees had to leave their families and come in even earlier than that to prepare.

If there’s one thing we don’t have enough of in America these days, it’s expressions of gratitude to God for our many blessings.  Maybe that’s one of the reasons why our younger generation seems so cynical and ungrateful for the fact that they’re living in the freest, safest, healthiest, cleanest and most abundant place and time in the history of the world. Stopping once a year to gather our families and count and say thanks for our blessings is a good way to remind ourselves of just how many blessings we have.

As for the blessing of great Black Friday deals, if shoppers simply can’t wait one day to buy Christmas gifts that won’t even be opened for another month, then here’s a modest proposal: “Black Wednesday.”  Just skip over Thanksgiving entirely, move the orgy of shopping forward two days to Wednesday, then give your employees Thanksgiving off to recuperate from it.  Also to thank the Lord that it’s over.

Mitt Romney is continuing his attacks on President Trump, and to nobody on Earth’s surprise, Trump punched back.

It would be nice not to have such public displays of Party in-fighting, but if Mitt just has to declare that he is so aghast at that blackguard Trump, he dropped his monocle, at least maybe he’ll learn a lesson from Trump about how to fight back when attacked.  He might also consider that he is a big part of the reason why we have Trump.

When Obama was forcing Obamacare on us and vowing to fundamentally transform America, a lot of Americans who loved this nation the way it was formed the Tea Party.  They had rallies where people of all backgrounds who loved the Constitution got together to wave flags, make patriotic speeches, and leave parks cleaner than they found them.  In return, Democrats and the media branded them as stupid, racist, xenophobic fascists and terrorists, and the IRS and the FBI targeted them for audits, raids, and blocking of their non-profit status applications to keep them from having a voice in the 2012 election.

So in 2012, the GOP nominated the cleanest, most Boy Scout-like candidate possible, Mitt Romney.  Surely, there was no mud they could sling at him.  Yet he was accused of being a greedy corporate raider who bullied a classmate, tortured dogs, put women in binders, insured that the wife of one of his employees died of cancer, didn’t care about half of Americans, and probably cheated on his taxes (Harry Reid later admitted that last one was a straight-up lie, but hey, it worked, didn’t it?)  And Mitt took it all in stride, lost like a gentleman and wished his opponents well.

So in 2016, GOP voters finally had enough.  They nominated a political outsider who was most famous for firing people, who brawled in public, spoke bluntly, named names and promised to drain the swamp.  In short, they chose the Anti-Romney, the guy who punched back twice as hard against all the lies, slander and unfair attacks.

Mitt Romney is entitled to voice his opinion, and personally, I’m not comfortable with everything Trump says myself.  But as a number of conservative commentators are now pointing out, if Romney had ever gotten half as angry at the lies and slander of the Democrats and the media against him, and put even a fraction as much energy and outrage into fighting them the way Trump would as he’s putting into attacking Trump, he might be on his second term as President now instead of Trump. News flash: it is possible to fight someone other than your own side.

Stop the presses!  Elizabeth Warren has been accused of falsely appropriating the victim status of an identity group in order to advance her career!

I’m talking about lying when she claimed she was fired from a teaching job because she was pregnant. What, did you think I was referring to something else? Come on, how many times would someone do a thing like that?

It seems so long ago (a few weeks, which in 24/7 news cycle time is about 10 years) that the new book about Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh by a couple of New York Times writers came out and was allegedly going to include bombshell new evidence to impeach Kavanaugh for being a drooling sexual predator (in high school or college or somewhere in there, the dates are always fuzzy.)  But have you noticed that nobody seems to know how to build a bombshell anymore?  They always start to detonate prematurely, then fizzle and fall apart. That’s what happened with the Times’ Kavanaugh smear job, as the paper oversold its “revelations,” which largely amounted to hearsay from a Clinton insider and an alleged victim who couldn’t even recall how she was supposedly victimized.

So, did the public buy any of this?  The answer is “No, literally.”

After two weeks on the market, the expected bestseller, “The Education of Brett Kavanaugh: An Investigation,” has sold approximately 3,120 copies and at last check, was ranked at #7,238 on Amazon’s sales chart. Even granting a generous figure of maybe 4,000 e-books sold, the Washington Examiner calls that “one of the most epic bombs in political publishing over the past decade.” Well, they did tell us it would be a bombshell.

My theory is that the book had bad timing.  Why pay good money for a load of hooey concocted to justify a politically-motivated impeachment push when most media outlets are spewing the same thing for free?

Of course, you could argue that Americans are simply over the Kavanaugh story and don’t want to hear any more about it, but then how can you explain that Mollie Hemingway and Carrie Severino’s accurate book on the Kavanaugh hearings, “Justice On Trial,” has sold over 100,000 copies so far?  Maybe they’re just “over” being lied to on this subject.

One of the very best and least-reported aspects of President Trump’s trade war with China is that it is sparking and accelerating a move by American companies to relocate factories from China back to America, or at least out of China. This infuriating story involving the NBA gives a perfect example of why Americans should not allow ourselves to become so dependent on China.

That link is to a round-up of stories and comments on how quickly the NBA folded and kowtowed to China after getting economic pressure over a tweet by Houston Rockets GM Daryl Morey. The tweet was even described by big US media companies (also dependent in too many ways on Chinese tech and money) as “controversial” and “offensive.” Morey deleted the tweet and issued a video apology, which has been described as a “hostage video,” the kind of insincere statement people are forced to make at gunpoint (I’m sure that wasn’t literally true because, after all, he’s not actually IN China.)

So, what was this outrageous tweet that was so offensive and controversial?  This is it:

“Fight for Freedom. Stand with Hong Kong.”

As Ed Driscoll at Instapundit summed it up, to the NBA and our big media companies like CBS and Disney/ABC/ESPN, freedom and democracy are now controversial and offensive.  I think we can mark this down for future reference as the perfect example of the term, “selling your soul.”

The NBA's response to China seems akin to the NFL and team owners responses to the kneeling phenomenon. Their only question seemed to be "which way do I move (or dodge) to protect my bottom line?" I eventually concluded it was no so much the dominance of greed (or shareholder value) as the lack of any kind of a moral compass leaving greed as their only guidepost. Perhaps it's no wonder they cave so easily.

dems have shown their true colors. hammer and sickle. We have too many cowards in this nation. They need to be taken down. yep, the end for many is near. Judgement is on the way and for some it will not be pretty.

The last three years has shown us how lonw the libs are and that we have a party who ADMITS they hate the USA and want it's destruction. Without a warrior like DT, I shudder to think what America would be like today. The corruption and treason MUST stop if we are to survive. there is no longer an option. the calling up up Marine reserves is serious. DT must be expecting trouble from a desperate lib party. Communists must be rooted out and removed. That is NOT an option anymore. Libs declared war so we must TREAT them like the "domestic enemy."Add Romney to that list, he is NOt a friend of America.

I think Trump should tell congress he MAY agree to release his taxes when we get Obama's birth certificate, complete school records and the story about how he received multiple social security numbers. And perhaps the life story of Loretta Fuddy the person who was the health official who certified the phony birth certificate in Hawaii, who mysteriously was killed in a suspicious accident.
Just curious about that and many other things about Obama no one seems to be able to find out.
Maybe the life of Laretta Fuddy would be a great movie one day.

I echo Mr. Byrne's query (10/97/2019; 10:49): I, and I'm certain, many, many others who solicit Mike Huckabee's "Editions" are in wonderment; please, Governor, comment on President Trump's abandonment of Kurdish peoples in NE Syria. Were watching, waiting for your "take" on this 'Heavenly Mandated' concern... In advance, "Thank You!"

I really liked the NBA in the past Bird Magic and Jordan and the rest of them during that time. During this time frame I watched some playoffs with my adult grandkids and I found it to be fun mostly being with the kids I did not like the NBA today because of the politics it brought to the public I would not have watched except being with the kids is fun. Your take on China is good why we let China be a large part of our society is a mistake, the values they have are horrible by my standards, as far as i am concerned maybe we buy some inexpensive items from them mostly throw away items that's it. When China becomes more dangerous is when they become more desperate look at its behavior while times are good how will they react when times get tough just look at the military display a couple of weeks ago what are they selling? Violence. Beware of the Communist China they are not our friend how could they? The values they have are that of prisons not Freedoms.

Recently I was impressed to see Nancy Pelosi quote from the Bible where it says, “What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and suffer the loss of his eternal soul?”

So, as she professes to be a Catholic, I wonder if on her day of judgment, when she stand before the Lord, and no excuses are available, how will she answer the commandant which says “Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor“?

Perhaps if you can help to get her to read this thought, she just might change and encourage others to also? I guess I still believe in miracles!

Your comments about business extended hours was I believe the break up of
the family. I realized that after several years working in a grocery store when the first thing to go was Sunday. It progressed to what we see today.
If you want to call it “progress”. Unless wealthy, or you determine to keep the
Sabbath Holy - there is no family day! The family & community suffer.

I voted for Romney when he ran against Obama, I'm sorry that I did. His actions against Trump prove to me that he isn't the man I thought he was. His action speaks of revenge and anti-Trump. If he were as honorable as I thought he was he would be backing Pres Trump as our president. Pres Trump has done so much for our country while the democrats can't do anything but try to overturn the election results. Any republican that kisses democrat feet is not deserving of their position and needs to be voted out and the ones with guts to help Pres Trump keep America great and make it even greater should be voted in.

Amazing how dems don't get beat up even 1/2 as hard as Republicans, if they happen to misquote something. And since the house can't vote, why don't we just have the election & put Trump back in for 4 more years. I want to keep my religious freedom & I am so sick of the news & the dems.

I agree we should bring Thanksgiving back! Nowadays most churches DO NOT HAVE A CHURCH SERVICE ON THANKSGIVING. How about a nationwide movement to have all churches have a Thanksgiving service at, say, 1 pm Eastern Time, or 1 pm local time, and let's get people into church to do some thanking! Maybe you could help start a movement?

They took our Holy Days and turned them into Holidays. Thanksgiving was the last wholesome holiday, and they ruined it with Black Friday.
