At this writing, news is starting to break --- though details are yet to come --- about the FBI’s “collaboration” (it’s fun to use “collaboration” in this context) with lawyers working for Hillary Clinton and the DNC to damage President Trump.  The story should be out sometime Tuesday, and it’s expected to be huge.  If the evidence is there, it’s just one more case of Democratic politics corrupting everything it touches.

Sara A. Carter has already reported that there were meetings between then-FBI general counsel James Baker and Michael Sussman, an attorney for Perkins Coie, the law firm that was paid millions by the DNC and Hillary’s campaign to hire Fusion GPS to dig up anything it could on Donald Trump, which they did by hiring virulently anti-Trump British ex-spy Christopher Steele to write his unsubstantiated “dossier.”  According to John Solomon, the news also concerns the classification of FBI documents:  a “smoking gun” that shows this was not done to protect national security but to cover up what they’d been doing.

Catherine Herridge at FOX News has reported that Sussman not only met with the FBI, but passed them documents pertaining to alleged Russian hacking.  On Monday’s “Hannity” TV show, Sara Carter said that Sussman even gave Baker some version of Steele’s dossier.  At this point, we’re waiting on evidence that reportedly shows someone at a “very high level” in the DOJ was seeking revenge for Trump’s firing of Comey.

All of this is consistent with what we’ve suspected for a long time and have talked about here, and it makes sense out of the FBI’s many months of stonewalling in the face of subpoenas and Freedom Of Information Act requests.  After all, why should they want us to see anything that so thoroughly incriminates them?  The testimony by Baker is reportedly explosive.  So this may be the calm before the storm (kind of like Hurricane Michael, which is predicted to make landfall on the panhandle of Florida, somewhere in the vicinity of my house).

In the meantime, there’s a new column by Andrew C. McCarthy that’s more timely than ever in light of these new revelations-in-waiting about the FBI.  It concerns the way Democrats have thrown all the norms pertaining to American justice out the window by weaponizing bureaucracies and the investigations they conduct strictly for political advantage.  They’ve done this now with both Trump and Kavanaugh.  And rest assured that the new rules they come up with for Republicans won’t apply to Democrats at all.  To them, the way the world works is strictly “My rules for you, no rules for me.”

In the good old days (not so long ago, as I recall), we would never have allowed full-blown criminal investigations to go on without at least some solid evidence that a crime had been committed.  And even then, there would be limits placed on them.  But now, all the Democrats have to do is call them “counterintelligence investigations” (Trump) or “background checks” (Kavanaugh).  In Kavanaugh’s case, I have no doubt that if Democrats had gotten their way, the enhanced background check (his seventh) would have taken, oh, at least two-and-a-half years, or longer if the Democrats didn’t prevail in 2020.  And if nothing happens to end the Trump investigation, it will go on and continue expanding as long as they don’t have what they think they need to impeach him.

What the Left now does is come up with flimsy and uncorroborated but extremely salacious allegations:  Trump “colluded” with the Russians, who are our enemies; as a student, Kavanaugh attacked young women and facilitated gang-rape at high school parties (!).  Then “the seriousness of the charge,” as opposed to guilt or innocence, becomes the most important consideration.  As McCarthy explains, hard evidence isn’t needed or even necessarily desired, because it can limit the investigation’s focus when they want it to be completely open-ended.  “The criminalization of politics leans on counterintelligence and background investigations,” he says.  “It wants no part of criminal courts, where due-process safeguards are enforced and allegations must be proved.”

After reading his explanation, one can see how everything that’s been happening with the Trump/Russia investigation, ever since its shady origins within the FBI, makes perfect sense.

It doesn’t matter whether or not Republican presidents and their appointees are technically suspects; the Democrats are going to investigate them as if they were.  They claim this is to protect our institutions. (Example:  in a twist worthy of Chubby Checker, Senate Judiciary Committee Democrat Jerrold Nadler actually said this:  “...the Senate having failed to do its proper constitutionally mandated job of advise and consent, we are going to have to do something to provide a check and balance, to protect the rule of law and to protect the legitimacy of one of our most important institutions.”)  In reality, they’re tearing down our institutions, and quickly.  In McCarthy’s words, “It’s an ugly process in which the new Democratic Party --- the party that prefers Bill Ayers to Joe Lieberman, ‘social justice’ to patriotism, and ‘change’ to the Constitution --- menaces decent people and their attachments to American traditions until they retreat from the public square.”

The Left has shown that it cares nothing for such principles as due process, presumption of innocence and freedom from unreasonable and unwarranted invasions of privacy, at least as applied to its political enemies.  This tear-it-down attitude was once the mark of a fringe movement, but those of us who are paying attention can see it moving out of the fringe, like grass growing after a heavy rain.  The Democratic Party will ignore the principles that make us free in order to defeat the enemy at hand, and then they’ll add a strong dose of humiliation –- they call it shaming –- to suppress prospective challengers down the road.  As McCarthy says, “Would you put your family through what the Kavanaugh family has been put through?
Commentary continues below advertisement

The idea behind a limitless, unfocused investigation is that by leaving no stone unturned, they can find something on Trump and/or Kavanaugh --- no matter how old, ambiguous or inconsistent with their current character --- that might be used to impeach them or, at the least, to cast doubt on their legitimacy and “taint” every decision they make.  (“Taint” is the word of the day.)  A background check is supposed to mean gathering enough information to determine whether or not a person is a good fit for the responsibilities of his prospective office.  In McCarthy’s words, “If a Democratic senator has already decided against a conservative nominee over philosophical differences about abortion and gun rights, the senator should simply vote against the nominee, not exploit a background check as an abusive fishing expedition.”

We’ve got to turn this around, so that politics can no longer be the motivation for investigations.  If we continue down this road, America as we know it will be over; we’ll be no different from the many places in the world in which political enemies are dispensed with in kangaroo courts.  Only the power-mad will venture into that kind of political arena.  There would be no greater mistake than to give power to those who crave it that desperately.  (That’s why many of us sensed we should never support Hillary, but I digress.)

Anyway, that’s why it’s hoped that all the string-pulling behind the curtain at the FBI (and DOJ, and CIA) will at last be revealed, and the sooner the better.  We need the details of what –- and who –- we’ve been dealing with so we can finally hold them accountable and drain that stinking swamp.

Subversives in academe, media, the judiciary and within the Democratic party have long been working to undermine the constitutional republic our forefathers devised, and blessed the world with. Unquestionably inspired by the Bible and I believe, as Benjamin Franklin so eloquently said at the Constitutional Convention , that the Revolution and our system of government was inspired and directed by God's Sovereign hand. I believe this is a spiritual war with the forces of darkness working through those who probably unwittingly are doing its bidding. We are at an existential juncture and if God in His mercy wills it, all will be revealed and this nation will endure. Without His direct intercession, I'm afraid the blessing of life liberty and the pursuit of happiness will have run its course.
    May God bless America.

The Democrats must sill have bad apples amongst the FBI. They asked for, and received, yet another background of Kavanaugh, at the direction of President Trump. Glad it didn't turn into a 2 year investigation. I also read, where 1,200 lawyers signed a petition to not let Kavanaugh get a judicial seat. Those lawyers don't get to vote, they are not in the Senate or the House. So I don't know what good a petition by them would serve, other than to just put that out there, that they were opposed. I do pray for our country and our leaders. I do count on God to help us. He does not let me down. Serious times we are in indeed!!!! Thanks for keeping me informed. I pray the truth does come out & that the swamp is drained and that we truly can get back to law and order as well as a FBI & DOJ we can trust. Also that rule of law applies to all, where people have to answer for their wrongdoings.

What we need is a law that says if someone has an accusation to make against a person it needs to be made before at least four or five years. If not then it will not be investigated. These old accusations are no longer except able.

    Great article, the Dems are leading down the road to Nazi Germany, with innocent bystanders afraid to stand up for those being unfairly targeted. They become nasty and hysterical whenever a political subject matter comes up, social bullying at its best;
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Looks like Destin, the home of many of my relatives, is going to be west of the main path of the storm. I started going there to visit grandla in 1961. I was 9 years old.

The man who said that Hillary Clinton was a great Secretary of State now says that his daughter would be a great UN Ambassador! God helpl us all. The woman is a liberal and a democrat and an unscrupulous businesswoman besides.

Do you think that Jeff Sessions was a part of the FBI/DOJ coup d'etat attempt? Is it Sessions' secret involvement and support of this treasonous conspiracy that has caused him to be such an incredibly weak attorney-general?

I totally agree with comment about believing that the Dems will never be held accountable. As I was growing up, I remember being greatful that I was born in The USA, even at a very young age. I have traveled extensively around the world, and I am still greatful, but If I were young and just starting out I am not sure that I would feel the same way. I am watching us take a very unique and wonderful way of living and kill it because of those who want to govern on pure emotion and not intellect. They have found that a good way to have power is to create and perpetuate victimization. The feel good era has resulted in plain old immoral behavior, especially on the part of those in power, lying, cheating, possibly murder, stealing, adultery, and bearing false witness again your neighbor. Yes, we have had warts but we have tried mightily to atone for them. It is never enough. The investigations into Trump and anyone favors will continue forever. Please help us God if the .dems take Congress.

Spot on with the word “taint”. Let’s try it the other way around. Say I don’t believe Christine Ford. By Christine’s own admission she left her lifelong friend Leland Keyser behind at a small party with four boys after having just been sexually assaulted herself by one of them, Brett Kavanaugh, and thought he was going to kill her by suffocation with his hand over her mouth. But she left her friend. Now, shouldn’t we also question the actions of Christine Ford? Why would she leave her friend? Leland was the only other girl there according to Christine. Didn’t Christine just set her up to be their next victim? Leland was left behind, so wouldn’t Leland have asked Christine, say maybe the next day, “Why did you leave the party?” Are we to believe that Christine never told Leland that she couldn’t remember how she got home, or did Christine never wonder or ask Leland how she managed to get home from that party? Or was she okay after she left? Why not? Girls who hangout together and are lifelong friends would want to know! Think about teenage girls for a minute. They stick together like glue! They go everywhere together and tell each other everything. Even if they don’t tell their parents. They would have gone upstairs together to go to the bathroom, not just Christine by herself leaving Leland downstairs alone with the boys. The two girls wouldn’t have separated (remember they are 15 years old) in a house with 4 boys they barely know. That is if they are “good” girls. Hmmm. And why is the “Me, Too” movement so quick to jump on the bandwagon against Justice Kavanaugh? Does “Me,Too” want to be known for “I Want To Be Next”? Because that’s what Christine did to Leland. If a boy at that party had sexually assaulted Leland, then that would make Christine an accomplice to the crime! It doesn’t make sense, does it? That’s because it never happened. Christine Ford ‘s story is not true.
Here is a true story. My own personal account of what happened and done to me many years ago. It is drastically and sadly very different from Christine Ford’s “story”, but true. It actually qualifies me to be a member of the “Me, Too” movement. I was awoken from my sleep and sexually assaulted at 9 years old by a man in his early 40’s while on a vacation far away from home. I can remember every detail to this day of who it was, exactly what house it was, the address of the house, what bed it was and where that bed was located in the house, where my 3 sisters and parents were, what was done to me, what he was making me do to him, how I got him to stop, how the memory is seared into my brain, what he said, how it affected and still affects my life and relationships, who I told and when I told, my reaction, their reactions and that it was 2 or 3 days before Christmas of 1966. Is that specific enough?
I believe Christine Ford told us about a fantasy that maybe she had for an upperclassman who was the smartest kid in the school, Captain of the basketball team, funny, nice and cute. Oh, and he liked to drink beer! But he didn’t pay any attention to me because he was too busy with all of that including going to church.

After the sham of vetting that Judge Kavanaugh and his family had to go through, one would think that the people would have all woken up to the travesty of justice that just occurred. I know that the powers that want to be believe that the American people will believe anything that they have to make up and say but that just isn't true. The majority of the American people are intelligent enough to see what is going on, but the problem is that they are getting weary. They are weary of trying to get others to vote these people out. They don't think their one vote is going to make a difference. I hope and pray that all American people wake up to what is happening and stop it. I do have to say though that Cory Booker is one big joke. I think the man is deranged, and he certainly looked and sounded like it during the Kavanaugh witch hunt.

AMEN, AMEN, AMEN!! We are more afraid of the Democrats' disregard for the rule of law than anything else they do or say. It's clear that raw, naked power is the only thing they're really after and not the "betterment of society"-- as this radical left-fringe party would have their ardent but naive (or totally blind?) supporters to believe.

Missy Peregrym, the talented young daughter of friends of ours (Darrell & Vanessa Peregrym), is starring in the new TV show, "The FBI." I feel sorry for Missy trying to represent what was once a wonderful, reliable, serving-the-public-with honor law enforcement organization, which now is being revealed as corrupt and partisan as any other politically-related group. I hope her show doesn't get canceled.

Thank you so much for this post. I sure do hope and yes, pray, that truth will soon be revealed. I know it will because the Bible says so. When all of this comes to light, I do hope that the justice system will work and fulfill its job to prosecute these people. I too, grew up in a much better time even though difficult as it was. But, our elected officials, FBI, DOJ, etc were those we could depend on and trust. However, today I would not trust but just a few people. Yes, there has been a huge fall in our country and with every spiraling step, there was a democratic president in the office. With the last one, the bottom fell out. I pray these swamp frogs are caught, exposed, and rightfully reckoned with in a quick process. I want our United States to be strong, self-sufficient, safe, and peaceful. I have grandchildren that I want to see grow up in the great country they were born in. With that being said, I have many concerns for them. Thank you again for your posts and updates. God Bless!
