President Trump responds to North Korea

June 21, 2017 |

Early in his Administration, President Trump had a successful and productive meeting with President Xi of China. And he has been patient in allowing China to try to rein in the ever-more-belligerent North Korean dictator, Kim Jong Un. But that insane rogue regime is not only holding Americans in jail, it has, to put it bluntly, murdered an American citizen by allowing student Otto Warmbier to waste away in a coma for month after month without returning him home or providing him with proper medical care.

I’m sure that Trump doesn’t want to launch a military response, but we cannot allow rogue regimes to murder American citizens with impunity. And the longer we wait to deal with it, the more dangerous North Korea becomes as it continues its tests of ICBMs that could carry nuclear warheads.

Commentary continues below advertisement

Yesterday, Trump sent out a tweet that expressed his appreciation to China for trying to help with North Korea, but added that “it has not worked out. At least I know China tried!” If you don’t get the message, trust me, China gets it loud and clear. Trump signaled to China and the world that their efforts to rein in Kim Jong Un have failed, and something new must be tried, but this need not affect the US-China relationship if they don’t want it to. However, it also lets China know that if they don’t want America to take over dealing with Kim, then they’d better move fast. I don’t think there’s ever been an example of so much diplomatic meaning packed into fewer than 140 characters.

I agree with your analysis Mr. Huckabee. From the perspective of his style of decision making, President trump exhibits superior ability to crystalize issues and act on them.

I would like to see a huge bomb right on top of the evil North Korea leader! It's almost unbelieveable to see how those people act. They are like robots. They walk around in fear, fear for their families. It is so sad for the people, especially the ones in labor camps.Whatever they did to this young American man is horrible! I am for President Trump in whatever decision he makes. Prayers for this man that leads our country and may our Lord protect him!

President Trump should state for the record that any adversary who harms or kills an American or who harms or destroys any American property will be dealt with - - - - - - -
    Just that and nothing more - - - - - - -
let the media play with that and our enemies'll have to think twice - - - - - - -
    I love this guy ! ! ! ! ! ! !

My comment may have nothing to do w/what's being talked about right here, now, but I have a great concern that cannot find any other way to reach you, or the president of the United States. It's to do w/Medicaid & Medicare! there are so many ppl out there that are not able to work to earn any income and need these 2 MEDS!! I have 3 ppl on Medicaid & Medicare. I'm on Medicare, but am more concerned about others out there, in great need of them. Are they being cut into? I'm begging, pleading w/the pres. not to cut into it, or remove it, in any way!! Please!!! I am an American, born & raised in Laconia, NH. My kids are born & raised in NH as well!!
Knowing you & Pres.Trump are Christians, helps, tons!! Please pray this doesn't become a tragedy for my kids, and millions of others!! Please pray it doesn't!!

I would like to know that if China is trying to help, where is NC getting all the rockets?
And who is helping with all the information to shoot off all them rockets to witch maybe will hit the USA?
You all know NC isn't doing this all alone. IF CHINA ISN'T DOING THIS THAN FIND OUT WHO IS. THEN WE CAN HAMMER THEM. But I think it's still CHINA. SO SOMEBODY DO SOMETHING.

I vote for the old tried and true Teddy Rosevelt axiom, "Walk softly but carry a big stick." The next big N Korean shindig with their many soldiers and missiles on display and the big shot waving with his chest puffed out, send a special greeting card, special delivery, MOAB style. Teddy would be proud.

Mr. Trump will be regarded as one of the most important presidents as Reagan, Truman, Lincoln, and Washington. I wish people realize that now rather than 20 years later.

keep up the good work. Don't know if you have any contact with President Trump, but if you do tell him there are millions supporting him quietly...waiting until the right time to be here. We are praying for him and his family to keep strong. Keep him informed on what he needs, he might not see them coming. But I do have faith in God, and he will take care of it in his own time. Thanks again. I will be reading your notes.

If this ridiculous, trumped up, investigation ever conclues, DC can get busy with the issues that matter! North Korea is undoubtedly laughing at our juvenile behavior while they push forward with their agenda to nuke us. How did so many incapable politicians make it to DC? Is this the " The veil over their eyes?" Ummmm

    Mike
Thanks so much for you straight forward comments and not beating around the bush or being PC.! I appreciate your perspective. I thank God for 'interfering' with the election and getting Trump, a man with backbone in office. The Left can say what they want about Russia, sadly they don't want God as part of their party and thus are blind to His presence and will. Gov. keep up the good work.

When I was a very young child we had a President that we callled "Give them Hell, Harry." President Truman had a sign on his desk that read: The buck stops here. President Trump reminds me of our late President Truman. President Trump has acted with speed and caution as far as I can tell and we need to support him.

I am praying for discernment, wisdom, and courage for President Trump and all who are advising him in this mess (among all the others) he inherited.

It's to bad that the MSM can only read between lines, and can't comprehend what Trump says in his tweets. To me his tweets are much more calculated than anyone gives him credit for, yet are straight forward and to the point. Somehow the MSM will take this to mean that Trump condones global thermo-nuclear war.

I'm glad that there is someone residing in the White House that has some brass. The old resident certainly came close to destroying this great country.
    P.S.
I love reading your comments every day. Thanks.

I remember my 7th grade Civics class. People were not allowed to run for office in a district they did not reside in. What happened. .
America seems to be going the way of the " pocket borough" or " rotten Burough" as in British Politics. The change was probably some judge legislating from the bench. Another erosion of American distinctiveness.

Thank you for the way you explained Trump's msg to China. You've made it crystal clear to me. China has been made to look foolish in the eyes of America, like a parent being led around by their spoiled and belligerent child.
