Biden Administration continues its efforts to silence critics

I warned you that just because Biden’s DHS threw Scary Poppins under the bus, that didn’t mean they were giving up on their dreams of creating a speech police in the guise of a “Disinformation Governance Board” to silence their critics. Thursday, we got stab #2 with the announcement that Vice President Kamala Harris is being put in charge of a new task force for “developing programs and policies” that will protect “political figures” from “disinformation,” “abuse” and “harassment.”

https://pjmedia.com/news-and-politics/robert-spencer/2022/06/16/good-news-harris-to-head-new-biden-disinformation-task-force-n1605895

As Robert Spencer points out at the link, all those things are subjective and could easily fall under the heading of Constitutionally-protected free speech. You could make the argument that the main purpose of the First Amendment was to protect our God-given right to criticize politicians. It comes with the territory, and as I’ve said many times, if you can’t stand the sight of your own blood, stay out of politics.

Spencer writes, “Biden’s handlers insist, however, that nothing authoritarian is afoot here. All the new Task Force will do is target ‘online activities that are illegal conduct, such as cyber stalking or nonconsensual distribution of intimate images, or targeted harassment.’” But since those things are already illegal, why do we need a federal task force to study them? It’s like Democrats passing more anti-gun laws at the same time they’re letting all the violent criminals who use guns go free.

Their excuses sound to me like a lot of disinformation designed to cover up their true intentions: to abuse and harass their political opponents. The only upside is that with Kamala Harris now in charge, maybe the task force will wither away and die when she fails to show up, the same way border security did.

Ashley Biden's diary makes it back into the news

The diary of the President’s daughter, Ashley Biden, is back in the news, due to word that a Florida woman who found it left behind in a halfway house is under federal investigation for allegedly selling it. (And when did it become a federal offense to sell something someone else apparently threw away?) This news gave the Daily Mail an opening to print some of the disturbing contents of the diary that have long been suppressed/ignored, just like Hunter Biden’s laptop.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10896941/Florida-woman-Ashley-Bidens-diary-investigation-selling-it.html

The Daily Mail defended itself from accusations of revealing private material by saying they only repeated parts of it that had newsworthy repercussions, such as material that Russia or China could have used as blackmail material to influence Joe Biden. They argue that like Hunter’s laptop, it’s material that shouldn’t have been suppressed because it’s a national security threat that voters had a right to know was out there before electing Biden.

I can see the merit in that argument, but I’m not going to repeat salacious material from someone else’s diary here. If you want to know what the Mail deemed worthy of coverage, the link above will show you.

Gavin Newsom joins Truth Social

California’s far-left Gov. Gavin Newsom surprised followers by joining Donald Trump’s Truth Social platform. He claims he’s doing it to call out “Republican lies,” for instance, “I know we’re all on this platform in search for the truth. But the truth is I’ve not been able to find a simple explanation for the fact that we have a red state murder problem." Newsom said, “Eight out of the top 10 states with the highest murder rates are Republican-run,” so the “question is simple. What are the laws and policies in those states that are leading to such carnage?"

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/gavin-newsom-truth-social-republican-lies-red-state-murder-problem

The commenters on that Fox News story quickly did some research and discovered that the high murder rates in red states had nothing to do with the state-level Republican governance. They were concentrated in solidly Democrat-run cities inside red states, like Houston and New Orleans. Once you get out of blue cities, the murder rate plummets. The policies causing the high murder rates in those cities are the same "progressive" policies causing high murder rates in cities in blue states like California.

I’m afraid Newsom is not going to like Truth Social because on there, his disinformation will immediately be corrected by conservatives with facts, and there are no Soros minions to scurry in and censor them.

Fact: Voting for Republicans will not kill you

If someone told you that someone had released a “social science study” finding that voting Republican could kill you, I hope you would be skeptical (actually, I hope you’d be skeptical of anything labeled a “social science study,” because a lot of livestock droppings are recycled under that moniker.) The conclusion alone should make you suspicious, even if it appeared in the allegedly distinguished British Medical Journal.

https://conservativeplaybook.com/2022/06/17/junk-science-warning-voting-republican-could-kill-you/

Fortunately, you don’t have to force yourself to read it because Doug Badger at ConservativePlaybook.com did that for you. He also summarized the conclusions, pointed out the flaws and explained why “the study is—at best—silly.” He says that "absurdities abound,” and “it deploys dodgy statistical legerdemain to make a political point.” So don’t worry that voting for Republicans will kill you.

For the record, I’ve been voting Republican all my life, and I’m still here.

How the WHO spends its time

Proving that the World Health Organization is just as rock solid in its priorities as it was in the days when it was providing cover for communist China, the WHO is now devoting time and energy to pressing to rename monkeypox because the name is “discriminatory and stigmatizing.”

https://legalinsurrection.com/2022/06/who-will-rename-monkeypox-as-scientists-claim-its-discriminatory-and-stigmatizing/

You see, it originated with monkeys in Africa, but if we call it monkey pox when this outbreak might not have originated there, that would discriminate against and stigmatize Africa. I'm glad they explained it, because I assumed they meant we were discriminating against monkeys. And it might be tough for monkeys to sue, in light of a new ruling by a New York court that elephants don’t have human rights.

Great Moments In “Fact-Checking”

USA Today removed 23 stories from the Internet after an audit of the work of reporter Gabriela Miranda turned up quotes attributed to the wrong people, people quoted who weren’t affiliated with the organizations claimed and who appeared to be fabricated, and individuals quoted whose existence couldn’t be individually verified.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/2022/06/16/usa-today-audit-reporter/7647731001/

Don’t you hate it when your existence can’t be verified? Unlike Martha Flores, an actual pioneer of Spanish-language radio whom the Associated Press reported attended a protest of plans by a Soros-backed group to buy a lot of Hispanic radio stations and pump out leftist propaganda on them. The AP reported that Flores attended, but did not speak. At least her not speaking was unsurprising, although her attendance was, seeing as she’s been dead for two years.

Remember: These are the “professional journalists” who think they should be allowed to censor us because we might spread disinformation.

Musk meets with Twitter employees

Thursday, Elon Musk had his long-awaited meeting with employees of Twitter. He told them that for people to have trust in Twitter, there had to be transparency. He said, “It’s essential to have free speech” and communicate freely, and it’s important to represent multiple opinions and not drive a narrative because "How many times had the media gotten it right? I would say almost never. Not never, but almost never."

https://www.foxnews.com/media/elon-musk-promotes-free-speech-twitter-meeting-media

When asked about his own politics, Musk said he favors moderate policies, "But, you know, allowing people who have, like, relatively extreme views to express their views within the bounds of the law. You know, it's free speech within the context of the law. So I'm not suggesting that we just flout the law because we'll get shut down in that case."

I’ll tell you the reactions of the employees as soon as all the grief counselors are able to talk them into putting down their Play-Doh and coming out of their safe spaces.

The Country’s In The Very Best Of Hands

Oil company executives are starting to respond to President Biden’s threat to use “emergency powers” against them if they don’t increase production at refineries. What he expects them to refine is a mystery, as he continues his stated goal of shutting down all drilling. Maybe they can find a way to turn wishes and fairy dust into gasoline, because he’s doing his best to make sure they don’t have any oil to work with. Even as he was trying to blame greedy oil companies for a problem he created, his Administration was once again bowing to green activists and delaying another oil and gas lease sale.

https://dailycallernewsfoundation.org/2022/06/15/biden-admin-bows-to-environmental-activists-quietly-delays-another-oil-and-gas-lease-sale/

Those responses from the oil companies aren’t pulling any punches. They told Biden that they can’t just “ramp up output” when refinery utilization rates are already at 90%. Besides, some of them are being reconfigured to make biofuel – another idiotic Biden policy, shutting down reliable energy sources and trying to replace them with less efficient fuel made from corn amid a food shortage and skyrocketing food prices.

https://redstate.com/bonchie/2022/06/16/joe-biden-makes-pathetic-threat-to-oil-companies-exxon-mobil-drops-him-in-response-n579347

As for them being “greedy,” Exxon pointed out that they invested double what they’ve earned over the past five years to increase refining capacity, and they had to borrow more than $30 billion to keep doing it during the lockdowns when hardly anyone was driving, so they could be ready for the post-pandemic recovery. These are basic business realities that people in this Administration might understand if they had ever run anything for a living other than their mouths.

Speaking of, Biden's top officials continue to prove that they were chosen for reasons other than qualifications. His Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm tried to argue that Americans shouldn’t be upset about paying $5 a gallon for gas because if they were in Brazil, they’d be paying that much, or even more if they were in Canada or Germany.

https://www.westernjournal.com/biden-energy-secs-message-americans-brazilians-paying-amount-gas/

That conveniently overlooks the fact that America has enough supply and refining capacity to be energy independent and have gas at half that price, if we didn’t have a President who’s determined to destroy that capacity. All her statement did was make a lot of people wish that she and Biden were in Brazil, Canada or Germany. Anywhere other than Washington, DC.

Meanwhile, Biden climate change czar John Kerry continued his unbroken string of clueless aloof statements by declaring that arguments that we need to return to energy independence to reduce gas prices are a “false narrative,” and we “absolutely don’t” need more drilling.

https://www.westernjournal.com/biden-climate-czar-john-kerry-absolutely-dont-need-increased-american-fossil-fuel-production/

Spoken like a bubble-dwelling rich liberal who travels everywhere by limousine and private jet, and who probably hasn’t filled up his own gas tank since the disco era. I said this before, but it’s worth repeating for those in DC who claim to care about “democracy”:

Americans did not vote to give John Kerry any power over our lives. We had that opportunity in 2004, and we roundly rejected it.

Gov, here's another take on "get woke, go broke". Hero of free speech Elon Musk has fired some woke SpaceX employees who objected to his public statements. As one of the tweeters in response indicated, SpaceX is not a democracy. Now those fired employees have more free time to engage in free speech.

Sharon Faulkner, don't get overconfident. We need to keep up the pressure to get out and vote.

I can't think of anything nice to say about Harris or Kerry so I'll just say nothing. Safer that way!

Doesn't it make you feel great to know we have such stupid and weak opponents?
