Thanks so much for all the great responses to “Trump’s Wall: So don’t call it Trump’s, and don’t call it a wall.” My readers are obviously just as sick as I am of the semantic games being played by our duplicitous political class. (And, yes, to answer one letter writer, I was very much aware of the alternate meaning of the bureaucratic doublespeak term “impenetrable fabrication”; we hear those every day in DC and will continue to hear many more, especially during the next couple of years.)
Many of you had recommendations for Trump, some of which he has tried, with certain mid-level courts stopping him by repeatedly overstepping their bounds and keeping his constitutional powers in highly unconstitutional check. (It’s amazing how Trump’s opponents manage to find new and creative ways to keep him from simply doing his job as President.) Coming as our President did from a background in real estate and construction, he likely never dreamed it would be so hard to construct a doggone wall. You have a problem, you need a wall, you build it, right? You get it designed, you get the money (a pittance when compared with the staggering federal budget), and you just build it.

“Huckabee" preview
By Mike Huckabee
Join me tonight on TBN for the very first “Huckabee” of the New Year, and what a way to kick off 2019! I’ll visit with Millennial pro-life leader Lila Rose. Financial adviser Chris Hogan will tell you the millionaires’ own secrets for amassing wealth. You’ll laugh yourself limp at Dan Whitehurst, a hilarious comic with a very unusual background. I’ll have serious commentary plus some goofy news “In Case You Missed It.” Finally, brace yourself to get all shook up as we celebrate Elvis Presley’s birthday with two men who knew and worked closely with the King: gospel singer Terry Blackwood and guitar legend James Burton. They’ll rock the house in honor of Elvis, with a special surprise guest bass player trying to keep up.
Don’t miss a minute of it! It’s coming your way tonight at 8 and 11 EST, 7 and 10 CST, only on TBN. To find the TBN channel in your local area and to stream previous episodes of “Huckabee,” visit https://www.tbn.org/programs/huckabee
#1 issue
By Mike Huckabee
According to a new AP/NORC poll, immigration is the #1 issue Americans think the government needs to work on this year. So the newly-elected Democratic House immediately swung into action by passing its very first bill: a measure to force President Trump to turn over 10 years’ worth of his personal tax returns to the government.
Just on a side note, this shows the jaw-dropping ignorance of leftists when it comes to the way business people do taxes. Do they seriously think that Trump stays up all night, making out his own 1040 form, perhaps by the light of a single stingy candle, as he carefully hides chicanery among the deductions?
Reality check: he’s a billionaire who heads dozens of corporations. His tax form is probably as long as the New York phone book (largely thanks to the byzantine tax laws created and defended to the death by liberals) and is made out by a battalion of lawyers and accountants he never sees. Do they think he even reads it? If he signs it, it’s probably with an Autopen.
I’ve argued for years before Trump came on the scene that no politician should ever hand over his or her personal tax forms. Everything the government needs to know about a candidate’s finances is shown much more clearly on the financial disclosure forms that are already required by law. Handing over personal tax forms does nothing but invade their family’s privacy and give political opponents a handy weapon for personal attacks, which is why the House Democrats really want this.
It is nice of them, though, to make it so abundantly clear to voters on Day One exactly what their priorities really are.

Electoral college update
By Mike Huckabee
Speaking of Democratic priorities, another first-day issue for them was introducing a doomed Constitutional Amendment to eliminate the Electoral College. They call it “outdated” because Hillary Clinton and Al Gore won the popular vote but not the Electoral College vote. Of course, the next time a Democrat loses the popular vote but would have won the Electoral College vote, they’ll be screaming to bring it back.
I’ve written this so many times, I could just cut and paste it, but once more with feeling: the Electoral College worked exactly the way it was supposed to work in 2016. Hillary Clinton counted on the popular vote in a handful of solid blue states to hand her the presidency, and she ignored other states where Americans felt their concerns weren't being represented in Washington. That’s exactly why we have the Electoral College, and it’s the genius of the system the Founders created. Everybody knew it was an Electoral vote race going in, and if Hillary failed to take that into account when planning her campaign, then she's too dumb to be President, which I seriously doubt.
The proper response to this amendment is “You lost. Get over it. You claimed you wanted this job, now start showing you’re serious about doing it like an adult. If not, then you won’t love the popular vote so much in 2020 when it overwhelmingly throws you out of office.”

Those nutty PC police
By Mike Huckabee
You know the New York Times editors are engaged in a hunt for things to be offended about with a super-sized magnifying glass when they issue a preemptive apology over a word in the New York Times Crossword Puzzle that even they admit wasn’t meant to be offensive. It’s a baseball term that, if taken in a completely different way, might also be an obscure racial term that most people have never even heard of. Jim Treacher at PJ Media has the full ridiculous story.
https://pjmedia.com/trending/nyt-crossword-editor-gets-beaned-by-the-roaming-outrage-mob/
Treacher also mentions this story, about a conservative media figure being suspended from Twitter for making a joke about Brussels sprouts. Maybe the Twitter PC Patrol thought it might be offensive to Greens from Brussels.

Say, does anyone know an eight-letter word meaning “political correctness in 2019” that starts with “i” and ends with “s-a-n-i-t-y”?
President Trump's press conference
By Mike Huckabee
President Trump held a surprise press conference Friday to highlight the need for border security and Congressional Democrats’ preference to shut down the government rather than fund it. When he could get a word in between the hostile reporters there to represent the Democrats, he introduced some people whose opinions on the need for stronger border security were a lot harder to heckle.
Note to Sen. Romney: This is what it looks like when a Republican fights back against his critics, taking the battle to their own turf of media optics, instead of rolling over and letting their version of events become the story.

Your Friday Fake News:
By Mike Huckabee
Liberal media outlets are spending a lot of time and energy slamming conservatives for allegedly bullying “Democratic” Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez over a video of her dancing on a rooftop when she was a college student that appeared online. But when Conservative Tribune tried to find all these alleged conservative meanies, they could come up with snarky comments from only two obscure Twitter accounts. It appears that 99.99999999% of conservatives either never saw the video, saw it and didn’t think it worthy of comment, or more likely, figured there are far more pertinent things to criticize.
This created the unique situation of a gang of media liberals launching an unfair personal attack on conservatives for allegedly launching an unfair personal attack on a liberal that they didn’t really launch.

If liberal media figures are really that desperate to take the public’s attention away from the fantastic December jobs numbers, the Democrats shutting down the government rather than compromising to improve border security, and the newly-empowered House Democrats beclowning themselves with partisan hysteria, then I know a story they could cover about a bunch of nasty partisan hacks cruelly, unfairly and relentlessly attacking a woman in the most petty personal terms. But since the woman is Melania Trump and they’re the nasty partisan hacks, I doubt they’d be interested.
