POLL:  Should President Trump have met with Vladimir Putin?

---------------------------------------------

President Trump says he misspoke when he said in Helsinki that he didn’t see any reason why Russia would be behind US election meddling, and that he meant to say “wouldn’t” instead of “would.” This is historic, since I don’t know if Trump has ever publicly admitted to getting something wrong before. But I’m glad he is doing something to clean up the mess from that press conference rather than doubling-down to defend it.

I’m sure his opponents will continue ranting and railing that it’s not good enough, but Trump has always been extremely fortunate in having the enemies that he does. There is nothing he says or does that is too trifling or normal for the anti-Trump “Resistance” crowd not to react as if someone set off a string of firecrackers in their shorts.

Yes, Lisa Page had FBI counsel, but actually answered questions!

By Mike Huckabee

Last week, it wasn’t clear whether former FBI attorney Lisa Page would even testify, let alone whether her words would back up the spectacularly reality-denying “I’ve-NEVER-let-bias-affect-my-actions” testimony of FBI agent Peter Strzok, described by most news accounts as her ex-lover. But she finally appeared as a witness behind closed doors on Friday and again on Monday. Trump’s meeting with Putin in Helsinki and the media’s inexcusably hellish reaction completely dominated the news cycle Monday and Tuesday, but now that things have calmed down a bit, we can reflect on what Page brings to our understanding of the FBI’s role in investigating 2016 presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump.

Antidote to alarmist Left

By Mike Huckabee

If you’ve had it up to your eyeballs with leftists whining about how the world is ending and WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE, here’s a refreshing and inspiring antidote: read David French’s article in National Review.  It contrasts the left’s dark, apocalyptic view of the modern world with reality: thanks to freedom and capitalism, we’re actually living in the safest, cleanest, most abundant and most medically- and technologically-advanced period in history, one in which we should be thanking God every day of our longer-than-ever lives for the blessings we enjoy that even the royalty of a century ago could never have imagined.  Yet all we hear is complaints and doomsaying and calls to scrap it all in favor of the proven failed system known as socialism (oh, sorry: “Democratic socialism.”  Somehow, adding “Democratic” supposedly makes it sound better, like “Democratic communism” or “Democratic cancer.”)

By the way, as French points out, even after President Trump pulled the US out of the counterproductive Paris climate accords, the US continues to lead the world in reducing CO2 emissions while the self-righteous European and Canadian leaders who condemned Trump and stayed in the agreement keep increasing theirs.  It’s partly due to more affordable green energy sources, but mostly to the boom in US natural gas production under Trump.  You see, it's actually possible to improve the environment without signing away our sovereignty and trillions of dollars to a bunch of power-mad globalist bureaucrats.

Oh, and as long as we’re shattering liberal delusions, in case you missed this story from a few months ago: electric cars create more pollution than new gas-powered cars.  While modern engines have become more and more efficient, the power that comes out of electric plugs is still mostly dependent on dead dinosaurs.  Or did liberals think that electric power is generated by wind from the flapping wings of flying unicorns?

"Fresh face"

By Mike Huckabee

A new Rasmussen Poll found that 73% of Democratic likely voters want a “fresh face” for their Presidential nominee in 2020. In a related story, it’s rumored that Hillary Clinton is getting a facelift. (Attn, CNN: that’s a joke, not fake news, so please don’t report it.)

I love your newsletters, and especially your comedic satire. It serves to lighten the tension the that the idiots foist upon on us each day.

I'm glad that someone has finally told he truth about electric vehicles. It's something I've been saying for years. Electric vehicles only make sense if the incremental electric power to fuel the vehicles is generated by renewables. Our friends in the Northeast don't understand that the incremental power to fuel those cars will be generated in coal plants in the Midwest, further exacerbating pollution issues in the region.
