March 5, 2020

It’s only March, and I think we already have a winner for the title of “Bonehead of the Year.” And this is something so stupid, it might even put him into contention for a Darwin Award. After being exposed to the coronavirus, this New Hampshire man not only didn’t self-quarantine, he went to a mixer near the Dartmouth campus. Let me repeat that: a MIXER! Now, he has the coronavirus, as does someone who came in close contact with him, and authorities are trying to track down everyone who was at the event. He’s now been officially ordered by the state to remain in quarantine. A state spokesman said, “The individual is complying now.”

Have I not impressed upon you yet just how stupid this person’s behavior was? Then add this: he works at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, and it was a mixer for medical workers and students!

To give this person some reading material while he’s stuck at home, here’s today’s Instapundit round-up of the latest coronavirus news, the seriousness of which I hope penetrates his skull:

Speaking of self-serving people and the coronavirus, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has been accused of holding back a bill to provide funding to fight the disease while the Democrats were using the issue to run ads against seven Republicans on Super Tuesday. Also, House Democrats are trying to attach a controversial pet health bill to coronavirus funding. Nice to know they have priorities.

I always say if you’re going to pay attention to politics, you might as well learn to laugh about it. So in that spirit, here are a couple of brutally funny takes on Super Tuesday, from Derek Hunter…

…And the defiantly and hilariously unfiltered Kurt Schlichter.

Scientists at the University of New South Wales believe they’ve discovered why women generally live longer than men (and no, it’s not because wives eventually kill their husbands for never wiping their feet before they come in the house.)

They think it’s because women have XX chromosomes, and the extra X chromosome gives them a sturdier cell structure that protects against the degenerative effects of aging. Men have XY chromosomes, which makes them more susceptible to gene mutation and sickness.

These scientists should win a Nobel Prize, but instead, I predict that they’ll be hounded out of academia for suggesting that only women have XX chromosomes, or that having XX chromosomes means you're a woman.

Fun Video: Watch MSNBC “journalist” Katy Tur be gobsmacked when a Hispanic man in East L.A. tells her in Spanish that his daughter is voting for Trump. She seems incapable of comprehending why this “stubborn 10 to 15%” of Latinos support Trump when they could return to that wonderful era of Obama-style Democratic rule and lose their new, good-paying jobs.

While most of the media were trumpeting the “Joe Biden surge” on Super Tuesday, the least-reported story of the day is one that should be throwing a panic into the DNC. The media also ballyhooed the Dems’ high turnout, which is to be expected considering the hard-fought, heavily (and expensively!) promoted battle. What they are studiously ignoring is this:

On the Republican side, despite Trump being an incumbent with no serious challenger, which usually means low turnout, voters came out in droves to show support. Support for Trump was not only huge in red states, it broke several turnout and vote count records in swing states and blue states. As Kayleigh McEnany at The Hill writes:

“In Vermont and Minnesota, Trump’s vote totals beat every past incumbent’s total in the last four decades. In Maine, the president’s vote total bested every primary candidate’s total since before President Ronald Reagan. In Massachusetts, the story was similar, with Trump aggregating a higher vote total than past incumbent Republicans since before Reagan.”

Again, he was basically running unopposed, which usually means fewer people even bother to vote. This stunning Trump turnout even in non-red states bolsters the studies by Trump’s campaign that show surprisingly large percentages of Trump rally attendees are Democrats, Independents, blacks, Latinos and people who didn’t even bother to vote in 2016.

The media may be buzzing today about “Joe-mentum,” but the DNC might have to strap a rocket to Joe if they want to give him enough momentum to catch up to Trump in terms of voter enthusiasm.

Side Note to Super Tuesday: Since Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez sneaked into the House by beating an incumbent in a primary where nobody but her supporters were paying attention, voters seem to be wising up to that tactic. AOC had endorsed three fellow “Squad”-like “progressives” in California and Texas in their challenges to more moderate Democratic incumbents. But you can’t fool all of the people all of the time, and things didn’t go as well for the mini-AOCs as for the original.

It’s good the New Hampshire man finally realized that self-quarantine was a pretty good idea, but sadly it took until he developed symptoms following the "mixer" at which he may have "shared" the seeds of his coronavirus illness with everyone in the crowd requiring the efforts of local health officials to track-down individuals with whom he came into contact in an effort to contain this fluid situation. When checking CDC's website for updates recently, I also took a look at the impact of the flu virus this season. So far, 18K have died from the flu here in the US despite the availability of the flu vaccine. Sadly, the vaccine itself is at times just a little off, misses the viral target, but we're encouraged to get the vaccine anyway so that if you do get the flu, you'll have a milder case. This makes me wonder how many of the 18K who've died had gotten the flu vaccine first. Annually, anywhere from 10-60K and more die of the flu and those high numbers seem to be accepted, "normal." I am so grateful for the President’s prudent decision to establish travel bans and create a very effective Coronavirus Task Force headed by the Vice President. Actions taken safeguard the health of the nation. This is perhaps a model for future health threats. What if our President authorized health officials to employ like strategies at the start of the next flu season? CDC estimates 32 million US cases of flu this season resulting in 310,000 hospitalizations. Maybe some of the same precautions targeting the threat of coronavirus could be directed at flu next season. Wouldn't it be great to limit the number of flu cases and deaths each year! What's become horrifyingly commonplace is a US death toll of tens of thousands annually. There's got to be a better way to manage the “seasonal” flu.

I live in Illinois. Durbin is running again.
I have no idea how tto vote in the primary,
Which of the republican candidates has the
best chance of winning against Dubin? They
all say they support Trump. Don't want to
waste my vote. Dubin is probably a shoe-in
but we've gotta try. Thanks, Ken Anderson

I am hopeful that all people that enjoy freedom will find a conservative to support after being with liberal Democrats for 11days I am convinced everyday is the same without chance of change. No chance to advance the standard of living for all dems are stuck on doing the same thing over and over without a chance of improving life they don’t care who or what comes into this country they feel they are immune to evil I think under neath they just may be evil

I am afraid that this New Hampshire man would have many competitors for that title "Bonehead of the Year" since this world is in the shape it is in because of the multitudes that COULD also claim this title because one is EITHER self-centered OR he is Christ-centered which is to be OTHER -centered.

While this New Hampshire man obviously did not care if someone wound up dying because he exposed them to the coronavirus, the crisis we are facing that has been defined as "gun violence" is also a result of one human being ...LIKE what is true of this New Hampshire man...not caring if he is the cause of another human being's death!

If you are the one chosen to award this New Hampshire man WITH the award you have entitled " Bonehead of he Year " would you consider renaming it "Boneheart of the Year" because he did not do what he did because his HEAD was as hard as bone, but, rather, because is HEART was!....AND....

When it comes TO hardheartedness, the Democrats could also give this New Hampshire man a run for his money...when it comes to competing for that title
....since THEY don't care that their actions are playing a part in the death of other human beings..which is what unborn babies are!!!!

Any way you slice the Dems' options, it makes for a distasteful scenario. Whether it is Bernie (whose initials are B.S.) with Warren or AOC as his pick or Biden with HRC, M-Obama, or Mini-Mike as his pick, this nation is in for a scary, rough ride. The Dems have the bologna, the Republicans have the hams.

Trump and Pence are the best Pres-VP pair to grace this nation. The years I've had the right to vote for President, I have taken a closer look at the VP candidate moreso than the Presidential candidate. The number two position is VERY important when it comes to heading up our country. Without a doubt we would have a marvelous president in Pence if Trump had to step down during his second term. No matter the plans of men, the Lord's will is going to be done. Proverbs 19:21 HE gets the final word!

It is difficult to find the exact source to blame for the over selling of the effect of the coronavirus. Since it is known to be less lethal than annual flu, it makes one suspect that it is a Trojan Horse, a distraction, perpetrated with the intent to affect the 2020 election. Fortunately, President Trump has acted to minimize any potential (or imagined) impact.

I have a liberal media zinger story to top the week:
The Southern CA News Group owns several local papers (Long Beach Press Telegram, South Bay Daily Breeze, etc.) I'm a Breeze subscriber and, today, I was reviewing an entire page, dedicated to the local, state and national primary results, when what to my wondering eyes should appear but a Republican Presidential vote tally, less Donald Trump ! That's right, here's the exact entry for the office:

    U.S. President

18,467 of 20,436 prec. Votes pct.
    Joe Walsh 40,705 3 %
    Bill Weld 38,592 2 %
    Roque De La Fuente 14,504 1 %
    Matthew Matern 9,649 1 %
    Robert Ardini 8,162 1%
    Zoltan Istvan 4,874 0 %

    That's everyone listed

I wrote to the news group Publisher and CEO, the editor and VP of the news group and the Breeze Senior Editor as follows:

    Southern CA News Group
Ron Hasse, Publisher and CEO, [email protected] , (714) 796-6790
Frank Pine, Executive Editor, [email protected] , (909) 483-9360

MMs Hasse and Pine: March 5, 2020

I must bring to your attention an error that only adds ammunition to the many complaints of liberalism of the press:

Today’s Daily Breeze P4 lists the results of the local, state and national primary election voting - - and Donald Trump’s name is missing from the Republican presidential voting tally!

I don’t know which people in your employ are responsible, but there had to be at least a researcher, a text editor, and a proof reader. However, we must hold you two ultimately responsible (the buck stops here).

For the collateral damage done, I suggest a major note of apology to your readers – on page one of tomorrow’s papers - along with a reprint of the total tally list of republican presidential candidates. You might also include the promise of an investigation to identify the pranksters, and see that they are no longer able to publicly embarrass the news group. Anything less may quickly and significantly reduce your readership, us for two.

Should this request not be fulfilled, I will sent a photo of the tally to the president myself, along with a copy of this email in its entirety.

My granddaughters are all for Bernie. Can you tell me any sites that are not connected to President Trump that they could research good ole Bernie and find out the truth about the guy. Everything I suggest they counter with "Yeah, but that's coming from Fox News, Trump's administration, etc. " "He's not a Communist, Marxist, etc., that's in the past; he's changed!" Please!!!

I have yet to learn how the House members did in all the primaries across the country. Another reason I think contributed to the large turn-out of republicans to vote red straight down the ticket.

Beyond thrilled and amazed that Vermonters voted in favor of President Trump. Over the years I watched in dismay as my Beloved State leaned further and further toward the Left. I have noticed in reading the commentary on any number of posts recently that the vast majority of the comments were very much in favor of the Right.

I heard Hunter Biden told his attorneys to settle the child payments suit as fast as they can. Hunter thinks he may find more work abroad advising some foreign company how to do business doesn' t matter who he will advise, Hunter will not have an education on any business he would advise, he needs to keep his daddy alive for 4 more years his daddy could be president let the corruption continue. Hunter needs a new stripper.

Wake me up when Bernie Sanders and or Joe Biden draw 100,000-plus people like Trump has been doing to any of their separate or combined rallies. Bernie is just too radical and Joe is just too senile and is being propped up like a puppet. Let the landslide begin!
