Whatever makes the Trump administration look good this week, such as Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s spectacular congressional hearing Wednesday in which he slapped down those who tried to politicize it, or the positive meeting on trade with the head of the EU, or perhaps the anticipated Friday announcement of stunning GDP growth, will no doubt by drowned out by mainstream media screams about unintelligible Cohen tapes and/or the pressing need for John Brennan to have a security clearance. For this reason, I even hesitated a moment before writing about the news of congressional Republicans calling for deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein’s impeachment. Sigh. MORE noise? MORE swamp? MORE scandal?

But every day, I get letters from readers who can’t understand why something isn’t done about the mess at the FBI and DOJ. Now that the 412-page application for a warrant to surveil Carter Page has been released –- mostly redacted, of course –- it’s obvious that the Steele “dossier” was part of a set-up from the start. (One thing that was conveniently left out of that application, ace reporter Sara A. Carter reminds us, was that the DOJ’s Bruce Ohr –- spouse of Nellie Ohr, who worked for Fusion GPS, which hired Christopher Steele –- said that Steele “would do anything to keep Donald Trump from being President.”) We know Rosenstein signed off on the third renewal of the fraudulent application based on unverified material for a warrant to spy on Carter Page. That, along with other huge conflicts of interest such as his authorship of the memo advising President Trump to fire then-FBI Director James Comey, renders Rosenstein unfit for responsibility over the “Trump/Russia” investigation. He can’t oversee it AND be a potential witness for it. So somebody needs to grab a crowbar and pry him from that role.

Commentary continues below advertisement

On Wednesday, articles of impeachment, the real deal, were filed against Rosenstein by a group of 11 congressional Republicans led by Mark Meadows of North Carolina and Jim Jordan of Ohio. On Laura Ingraham’s FOX News show Wednesday night, Mark Meadows explained that “it’s all about transparency so the American people can decide.”

Ingraham told them that even Andrew C. McCarthy of NATIONAL REVIEW –- one of my favorite go-to legal minds –- didn’t think much of this idea, saying that Rosenstein and FBI Director Christopher Wray work for Trump and that by his inaction Trump is allowing them to do what they do. “...The President is empowered to give his subordinates a direct order to comply with Congress’s demands, and to fire them immediately if they fail to do so,” McCarthy said. But the President has been placed in a unique position in which his hands –- at least in the minds of his attorneys –- have been legally tied. Any move Trump makes that’s remotely connected to “Russia,” such as firing Rosenstein, will surely have to be defended against charges of “obstruction,” no matter how warranted it may be. (Remember, that’s what has been done to Trump over Comey’s richly-deserved firing.) I think this is why Trump hasn’t fired the whole lot of them.

Gregg Jarrett of FOX News reported back in February that Rosenstein had threatened House Intelligence Committee staffers when they were just trying to do their job of oversight; Meadows and Jordan stand by the accusation. Jordan brought up another factor: the DOJ has hidden mountains of information from them by way of massive redactions that had nothing to do with national security. “We’re tired of the Justice Department giving us the finger and not giving us the information we’re entitled to to do our constitutional duty. More importantly, the American people are sick of it. That’s why we filed the resolution.”

House Speaker Paul Ryan has not given his consent for the motion, but according to Meadows and Jordan, it could come to the floor as a privileged motion on Thursday without requiring that. Trey Gowdy isn’t backing it, either, at least so far. Come on, folks, get your act together. This is the one way you have of holding the reins on an out-of-control FBI --- charging Rosenstein with contempt will do as much as good as it did with Eric Holder.

Speaking of that piece of drek fancied up as a FISA court application, here’s a great piece from Mark Tapscott that suggests what specifically the Mueller team might be trying to make a case out of, and why anyone trying to make such a case is, pardon the expression, full of it.

Congress: Get your act together and fire or impeach these goldbricking congressmen that have been lying and cheating the American people by withholding e-mails, memos, tapes and all the redacting of democrats' names but dragging Gowdy and Jordan and other patriots through the mud for simply asking questions and catching FBI and CIA liars. Put every penny of their retirement in our Social Security every time they lie. We, the American people are tired of being dragged through the mud for simply wanting to be Patriotic and true to our country and GOD.

We need a wall and all these illegal criminals cleaned out of here. We do not appreciate paying real estate taxes for putting 300 children through school for the criminal parents that broke the law just bringing them here. Why aren't they fighting their governments after we send our guys over there to die and fight for them?

I wonwder about the normal Democrats at home watching the current nonsense of their lawmakers doing nothing but blocking the President and ranting ad nauseum bogus claims about his agenda. What the Democrats are trying to sell is counter intuitive to most normal folks and I’m at a loss to understand how this is a viable plan. I guess we’ll see.

Governor, we are great fans of your daughter. She is doing a great job often dealing with a rude, Nasty, Press corps. Thank you for Your opinion on impeaching Rosenstein instead of charging him with contempt of Congress. I too am one of those people who can’t understand why all this inappropriate behavior at the DOJ/FBI is allowed to continue. The “Russian collusion” probe from the start appeared to be initiated to obstruct are duly elected president. It seems the DOJ/FBI were trying to cover up their own bad acts. Why is there any organization in the US government that operates without oversight & has an unlimited budget
With an ever widening focus? Who are these people whom
are so important they ignore Congress & openly work to obstruct the agenda of the President of the United States?
How long will their reign continue before they are stopped?
Thank you for your time & consideration.

I'm just so sick of the nonsense and having to hear about it day in and day out!!! Please tell President Trump to admit that he did indeed have affairs when he was a private citizen and that he wasn't President and that he's sorry for his indiscretions; so all of this nonsense can go away. Then he can remind the Democrats and nay Sayers that least he wasn't a sitting/acting in office President who committed adultery and had affairs right in the oval office of the White House with their wives in the next room. i.e. President Kennedy, President Clinton. I'm sure there were more. thanks for your time.

Governor Huckabee...thank you for faithfully keeping us informed about the ins and outs of our country, leaders, and all pertinent news. Like the 700 Club, we always know you are going to give us the complete, honest scoop!
I had a thought after reading your news in reference to the Congressional Oversight. After I read where Paul Ryan had not given his consent for the motion, and Trey Gowdy isn't "backing" it, my mind floated somewhere that was a little strange...I saw House Speaker Paul Ryan running for President and Trey Gowdy as his VP...Yikes.

You are a breath of fresh air amongst the foul Fake Media! I follow you and l love your daughter, Sarah! It seems the clear thinking people l admire all see Trump as l see him, and are so thankful he is our President! He is not perfect! He is not God, but l believe he knows him! You and Sarah do too! God Bless you both??????

    Mr Huckabee

I always enjoy your commentary and viewpoint. My take on this is the gop and truth will never win out. You are correct the president has his hands tied and any move will immediately be looked at as obstruction. Filing the impeachment charge against Rod was a loss as well because if the Dems take the house they will immediately follow through on that and with this action would be there leg to stand on. Contempt charges will go ignored as well. Lastly, Jeff sessions is just mystery of his role and why he does absolutely nothing to support the president and he is the sole person that could pull all this out. It just seems the good guys are out of moves and again the Clinton’s and the Swamp wins again so sad. Tell me I am wrong

    Hi Governor,
I was wondering do you think anyone will ever be charged in all this mess ? We know some of them lied and worked against President Trump and yet no one is charged with anything. Strzok and others still have their jobs and some still have security clearance. I truly feel our government is so corrupted that we can never recover. I fear for what my grandchildren will face in their older age. Sometimes I'm so upset about our country I can't sleep. Thank you and tell Sarah I love her. She is GREAT !!!!!

At this point, declassifying and unredacting would strike most Americans as the right thing to do. We're tired of the investigation that goes nowhere, people who certainly don't deserve it getting immunity...

Why isn't Congress forthcoming on the names of legislators who have used tax dollars to quiet potential sex scandals? It's been 1-1/2 years; enough is enough. What can voters do to get that information made public prior to voting in November?

Probably the most hushed up accomplishment by Trump is the appointing of 6 members of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve. He's already appointed 2, with 2 awaiting senate confirmation, and 2 more yet to be chosen.
    https://www.cnbc.com/2018/07/20/trump-poised-to-take-control-of-the-federal-reserve.html
The Fed has raised interest rates twice this year with plans for two more increases before years end.
    https://www.cnbc.com/2018/07/23/strategist-mark-grant-trump-has-a-right-to-call-out-the-fed.html
This may end up being one of Trumps greatest achievements, other president's who have tried to control the Fed, ended up with bullets in them.

Rosenstein doesn't seem to understand anything but threats to his job. If he threatens congressional staffers, who ELSE has he threatened. he needs to suffer the humiliation of impeachment. Then prosecuted for his crimes of mission and commission. This guy must be taking lessons from Hilary. No we NEED some changes. Congress needs an aggressive enforcement arm. i don't care who it is but someone. Erica Holder is a prime example. He WAS the DOJ therefore he thought he could do as he pleased and there were no consequences. Rosenstein seems to think the same way.

    Hey, Governor,
I'm wondering who on your team handles inquiries about books? I'm a professional writer, ghostwriter & publisher with 24 books to my credit over the last 25 years. I'm developing a book proposal and would like to discuss inviting you to be my co-author. I've been a big fan of your work for years, and the fit w my book is perfect, given your strong Evangelical and conservative values- -and the current political climate. Do you already have a literary agent or other contact person I could speak with?

Thanks, Governor, and God bless you.

I attempted to verify the statement below. It seems to be true. Didn’t know if you knew about this family fiasco or not.

    Lisa Barsoomian ... who?

LISA BARSOOMIAN Meet Lisa H. Barsoomian –
Lets learn a little about Mrs. Lisa H Barsoomian’s background.

Lisa H Barsoomian a US Attorney that graduated from Georgetown Law, she’s a protege of James Comey and Robert Muller.
Barsoomian, with her boss R. Craig Lawrence, represented Bill Clinton in 1998
    Lawrence also represented:
    Robert Muller three times
    James Comey five times
    Barack Obama 45 times
    Kathleen Sebelius 56 times
    Bill Clinton 40 times and
    Hillary Clinton 17 times
Between 1998 and 2017 Barsoomian herself represented the FBI at least five times

You may be saying to yourself, okay who cares, who cares about the work history of this Barsoomian woman?

Apparently someone does BECAUSE : Someone out there cares so much that they’ve “purged” all Barsoomian court documents for her Clinton representation in Hamburg vs. Clinton in 1998 and its appeal in 1999 from the DC District and Appeals court dockets (?) Someone out there cares so much that the internet has been “purged” of all information pertaining to Barsoomian.
Historically this indicates that the individual is a protected CIA operative.

Additionally Lisa Barsoomian has specialized in opposing Freedom of Information Act requests on behalf of the intelligence community
And although Barsoomian has been involved in hundreds of cases representing the DC Office of the US Attorney her email address is Lisa Barsoomian at NIH gov. The NIH stands for National Institutes of Health.

This is a tactic routinely used by the CIA to protect an operative by using another government organization to shield their activities. It’s a cover, so big deal right, I mean what does one more attorney with ties to the US intelligence community really matter.

It deals with Trump and his recent tariffs on Chinese steel and aluminum imports, the border wall, DACA, everything coming out of California, the Uniparty unrelenting opposition to President Trump, the Clapper leaks, the Comey leaks, Attorney General Jeff Sessions recusal and subsequent 14 month nap with occasional forays into the marijuana legalization mix …. and last but not least Muller’s never-ending investigation into collusion between the Trump team and the Russians

Why does Barsoomian, CIA operative, merit any mention?

    BECAUSE….
She is Assistant Attorney General Rod Rosenstein’s WIFE….That’s why!!

Yes Trump could issue demands and start firing people. Is he ‘playing’ them. The more they redact and find subsequent redactions have nothing to do with national security then the the DOJ and FBI look more untrustworthy or incompetent. I also suggest that it moves people away from the DOJ and FBI camp into the Trump camp.

    Good day Mr Huckabee
Remember me? I am the one who wrote you in the past about Rosenstein, quoting one saying : "to seed the lice in your furr" That is what the administration /DOJ did, selecting Rosenstein as DOJdeputy. Now you see the results. Unfortunately he is not the only one if you look at this team with the same blood group : Friedman, Greenblatt,Mnuchin,Miller,Icahn, Gary Cohn, Michael Cohn(this one is realy good), Epshteyn, Shulkin,Cordish, Berkowitz , Kushner and his wife- She would have converted to Islam, if it would have been a Saudi prince......the Trump's dynasty likes to live in golden cages, the are like Kardashians; they would become Russian Orthodox if it would give them more money. Isn't it interesting that there is so many of them, in the inner circle?, but none of them genuine semite , but rather khazars, all covet power more than their soul/dignity/religion. Actions always speak louder than words - they cannot be trusted. Most of them are either sycophants or shandlands, performing shanda for USA. I commend your admiration for Israel as biblical state , not for racist one. And also I admire Mark Levine who has one of the most honest atitude, and sharp witt- his interview with you was my favorite.
    Wishing you very nice summer
    Ivan
    PS
I don't expect your reaction, as I had not for my first one, but........ anyway

Dear Mr. Huckabee, I watched Mr. sessions stand and say he has full confidence in mr. Rosestien, I don't, nor do I have any confidence in Mr. Sessions. Crimes have been committed but by Hillary and the FBI and DOJ yet nothing is done. I am out of patience and grieving for my country. In short sir, I am beyond pissed off! All I know to do is vote responsibly in the elections and keep talking to my family and friends. This can not stand and must never happen again. No one should be above the law.

It's about time that Impeachment starts. Rosenstein needs to answer for his actions. We need UNREDACTED file. I believe Americans need to see the truth. As for the Cohen tape, that was given to CNN, you know, the "Redacted" one??? I heard it, I read the transcript, so to CNN... YOUR POINT????
