"Last Man Standing" Cancelled

May 16, 2017

There’s a lot of grumbling in conservative circles this week about ABC cancelling Tim Allen’s sitcom, “Last Man Standing.” That’s understandable: it’s just about the only show in prime time that presents a conservative point of view without attacking it and makes fun of PC liberals. Since going into syndication, it’s become even more popular. New episodes pull over 8 million viewers, and it’s ABC’s second-highest-rated sitcom and third most-watched scripted show overall. No wonder that fans smell political retribution in the firing and suspect ABC’s liberal corporate owner, Disney, of punishing Allen for attending Trump’s Inaugural and speaking out against rigid leftwing Hollywood group-think.

On the other hand, insiders claim it’s more a matter of economics: the network doesn’t own the show, so they won’t get syndication fees from new episodes to cover the rising costs of producing more. CBS just canceled the still-popular “Two Broke Girls” for the same reason, and nobody can suggest that’s a conservative show.

Still, you’d have to be from another planet to think the networks haven’t used their programming decisions to try to push a liberal social agenda onto viewers who just want entertainment. For instance, they seem to believe there are as many gay, lesbian and transgender people for real as you’d think there were from all the media attention they get. So they’ve launched lots of shows on that theme, only to see them crash and burn. Here’s a walk down memory lane to revisit 10 times Americans rejected propaganda disguised as bad TV shows.

Senator Huckabee, first off, there is not an explosion of LGBT anything on TV as big as people like yourself are suggesting; secondly, the make-up of the USA is changing, and TV is changing to reflect the realization that LGBT's exist (much like how TV changed to realize the existence of Afro-Americans in the late '60's.) Retrogressive attitudes towards other different from oneself (racism,
sexism, bigotry, and homophobia) aren't acceptable, and if Mr. Allen is expressing them, he's either going to have to change his ways, or have his show taken off of TV (and you can't say this is only happening to him as a male; Rosanne Barr's show was changed when she was dismissed from it because of her racist views about Arab-Americans and Arab-Americans who are Muslim.) If Allen wants to be on TV, he'll have to dial them down, or find an outlet where he can be what he was taken off of TV for being (a YouTube/Viemo/Daily Motion-based web series, or his own website where he can produce a web series that he can charge payment for using a proprietary video format, or a streaming service for views similar to his [and yours], PureFlix; cable and streaming won't be accepting him in either.) You all have your parallel 'Christian' media (cable channels, OTA digital subchannel TV networks, movie and TV production companies that are an offshoot of many of these 'ministries' [megachurches] operating on the public dime paying no taxes, movie theater chains that show these movies, and now, the abovementioned streaming channel PureFlix); he can have his show with these views on them, he can have them as the aforementioned web shows, or he can do without. Either way, this is how things are, and barring a takeover of the movie and TV industry by religious and secular neoconservatives, he'll have to put up with it.*

*/Lest you think I'm only going after neocons, I'm not; I also despise shows like Steven Universe that push misandry and disrespect/prejudice of men and boys, specifically the title character who's made out to be an infantile 14-year old with the mentality of a 6-year old, and I think that such shows should be dismissed off of TV as well-I'm an equal opportunity hater of prejudice/bigotry/sexism from both sides.

So sad about Last Man Standing being cancelled! I wish we could do something to cause the producer to bring it back. Let me know if there is. Thank you.

Wow, I am very disappointed in reading they are canceling the show. I've been watching it since it ever came out. I agree with everything you said Governor Huckabee. Is there any place where we can petition the cancelation of the show??? Sadly we see little to no conservative view shows on TV at all.

The PC liberals can't stand any thing that puts their whiny snowflake belief system in a revealing spot light. They lie about any one who oppresses biases, and slanders that person by labeling them rasist, homo phobic, etc. the moderate or conservative American is not supported by media or the vocal liberal democraps.
This shutting down of LMS is a slap at Trump supporters. A boycott of ABCs advertisers will get there attention.

I am very disappointed in the canceling of this show. It actually depicted an realistic example of an American family. (Especially where I am from the upper-Midwest) I also think it gave respect back to the father figure in the household, sure he was teased now and then but overall there was a respect for Tim Allen's character. Even the liberal son-in-law vied for his father-in-law to like him and showed him respect. The lack of respect for the American dads is what I think is wrong with society today so it was refreshing to have a TV show that made that a priority to portray that.

LMS is the funniest sitcom on TV...so sad to see it go, no matter what the reason.

We are extremely disappointed that Last Man Standing has been cancelled. We are very disappointed in ABC, and targeting one of the few conservative shows. It never ends!
