Many of President Trump’s supporters are expressing disappointment that he agreed to a three-week spending deal that will temporarily end the partial government shutdown without providing any border wall funding.

But before Nancy Pelosi gloats any further about her success at keeping our borders unsafe and porous, bear in mind that this is only a three-week bill. The deal will circumvent the media’s relentless focus on the government shutdown (and blaming Trump for it) and curtail rising problems like threats of air traffic controllers walking off the job. Unlike the last President, Trump doesn’t want a shutdown to be disruptive and inconvenient for average Americans. The three weeks will give him time to make his State of the Union Address and talk directly to the American people, and to disrupt the building “blame Trump for the shutdown” narrative and hopefully to turn public attention back to the border, where it belongs.

Roger Stone update

By Mike Huckabee

Since yesterday’s late-breaking bulletin, more details have been released about the seven counts leveled by Special Counsel Robert Mueller against Trump adviser Roger Stone. There are more details at the link.

The charges include obstruction, making false statements and trying to get a witness to lie about what he knew about WikiLeaks’ release of DNC emails. But they do not charge him with conspiring with WikiLeaks or with any Russians.

These charges will give Trump haters more ammunition to say, “Look at all the indictments Mueller is running up against Trump associates!” On the other hand, they’ll give Trump defenders more ammunition to say, “Look at all the over-changing of felonies for process infractions and unrelated violations that have nothing to do with ‘Russian collusion,’ which was supposed to be the point of this investigation!”

The Pledge of Allegiance

By Mike Huckabee

I’m sure you know the poem about the person who didn’t stand up for various groups as “they came for” them, until, when they came for him, there was no left to stand up for him.  I was reminded of that when I heard this story:

The left has “come for” everything that made America exceptional.  They’ve attacked the rule of law, the presumption of innocence, the security of our borders, free speech, churches and individual religious freedom, patriotism and capitalism.  They’ve demeaned our Founders and other American heroes for not living up to their ever-changing momentary standards of political correctness. They’ve sown distrust in our free and fair elections, while contributing to it by doing everything in their power to block prevention of voter fraud and to allow ineligible non-citizens to vote, thereby canceling out the votes of American citizens.  Through “pro-choice” propaganda, they’ve even undermined  respect for the sanctity of human life.

Planned Parenthood update

By Mike Huckabee

America’s largest abortion provider, Planned Parenthood, gets over half a billion dollars a year in our tax money from Washington.  Despite Republican promises that if they were in charge of Congress, that would be cut off, PP’s federal funding was actually increased by over $200,000 last year.  Planned Parenthood and its defenders insist that none of this federal money is used to support abortion, and that if it were cut off, it would deal a devastating blow to providing women with crucial “health services.”

Abortion is not progressive

By Mike Huckabee

Having made the word “liberal” truly toxic, today’s leftists have slapped a new label on their failed policies: “Progressive.” I’ve often asked what’s “progressive” about wanting to repeat the same ruinous economic policies that have brought poverty, inequality, death and misery everywhere they’ve been tried for over a century. But it’s not just in that arena that “progressives” (I always put it in quotation marks, for good reason) are trying to lead society backwards. Their views of abortion also run counter to public opinion, basic decency, mounting scientific evidence and the tide of history.

For a tragic example, look to New York. Tuesday, on the 46th anniversary of the Supreme Court’s notorious Roe v. Wade ruling, Democrats who recently took power in both the state Assembly and Senate passed a sweeping pro-abortion bill that Gov. Andrew Cuomo ran on a promise to sign. It’s laughably dubbed the “Reproductive Health Act.” It actually has nothing to do with reproduction or health.

With the shutting down of all non-Trump Congressional investigations, do you think the new attorney general should appoint a special counsel/special ethics committee to investigate Hillary and her 2016 campaign?

14,971 YES VOTES

Pretty conclusive.

Holy Love

By Anonymous

A newsletter reader facing terminal cancer submitted this beautiful sonnet about how facing death has deepened his faith.

My soul wants to cry for aid
under a lowering sky.
But that's not how this game is played,
for I am marked to die.
The boon of palliative care
was never meant for me;
and it's in no way unfair
because now, on bended knee
I can behold in full a gentle Grace;
pain's opened divinity's door
and gave me glimpse of smiling Face;
how could I ask for more?
The clouds may be so grey above,
but over them, shines Holy Love.

    Socialized Medicine is EXACTLY like military medicine. I spent over 20 years in the military and some of it was in the medical support fields. So I am writing this with the utmost respect for over 90% of the military medical teams. When the government pays for your health care for all it is exactly like military health care. So let’s look at that scenario. First, it is staggered as far as “active duty” verses retired. Except the Congress are usually seen on Priority at Walter Reed or some other very- well trained hospital. Normally, it requires your MOD (Medical Officer on Duty) that day to approve all the PAs (Physician Assistants), who are usually trained in handling first stage routine and trauma assessments to be referred to the actual doctor(s)/clinical departments (lab, x-ray etc.), working that day in the med clinic or hospital. To be honest most people abuse the medical care especially the ER so, approx. 60%+ of all medical treatments are handled at the PA level successfully. The vast majority of Pas will refer to a doctor if it goes beyond the PAs scope/level of care. Depending upon where you live (stationed), the doctor may refer you to another in-house specialist or write a referral to a civilian physician that the DOD has as a legit referral specialist and they agree to wait “forever” to be paid by the military pay office. This process pays them monthly and they agree to lower prices than their civilian counter-part insurance charges. It’s sort of like a Primary Care Physician (Gate keeper), PPA and HMA Health Management Association system rolled into one.
    Now we can get into Social Security Medicare parts A/B since I retired military I have secondary TRI-CARE for Life. These two separate have taken care of 95% of all my medical except my yearly cost for deductible, the A/B Medicare cost, and I pay my own dental and vision. I do not pay those insurances parts C/D), instead I pay myself every month the payment and buy glasses on great discounts. My dentures were made at a dental school, and if I ever need new ones. The dentures made by the school have lasted me over 10 years and great service because a dental teacher grades every little thing they do. The Novocain/penicillin was at cost.
    Now here is the part the socialist free medical care most forget or ignore…Nothing is FREE… we pay for medical with our taxes. Another thing they forget and want to ignore it is exactly like VA care. I have a severe heart condition and I live less than 15 miles from two military medical VA facilities, and I have NEVER used the VA because I value my health too much. All the “horror “stories you heard about the VA are just those that made the news. To be honest there are some good VA systems but the for the most part the demand for mass health care and the very little supply of availability to provide that care is something that is going to severely affect the socialized medicine.
    This is basically a synopsis of socialized medicine…it works great…if 55% of the people don’t/ Never use it.
    However, it WILL NOT affect Congress (or I think their family members, too), for which we all can be thankful, for that these people go to the very front of the line, and get the best care our tax dollars can buy for them.

    Shutdown Games respite:
    Dems will Party for 3 weeks OR be in meetings on issues.
    OR Rerun shutdown & declare Emergency to build Wall.
    Dems Unity= Dem Implosion.
    Or they posture for TV but then scatter for trips etc to "hide"
