I’m sure you know the poem about the person who didn’t stand up for various groups as “they came for” them, until, when they came for him, there was no left to stand up for him.  I was reminded of that when I heard this story:

The left has “come for” everything that made America exceptional.  They’ve attacked the rule of law, the presumption of innocence, the security of our borders, free speech, churches and individual religious freedom, patriotism and capitalism.  They’ve demeaned our Founders and other American heroes for not living up to their ever-changing momentary standards of political correctness. They’ve sown distrust in our free and fair elections, while contributing to it by doing everything in their power to block prevention of voter fraud and to allow ineligible non-citizens to vote, thereby canceling out the votes of American citizens.  Through “pro-choice” propaganda, they’ve even undermined  respect for the sanctity of human life.

"Huckabee" Preview

By Mike Huckabee

Round up the kids and call the neighbors, I have another great new episode of “Huckabee” coming your way tonight on TBN!  On the news front, the Chief Washington Correspondent for CBS, Major Garrett, will fill us in on his new book, “Mr. Trump’s Wild Ride.”  Economist and futurist George Gilder will explain why he thinks Google’s days are numbered.  Producer, speaker and Special Envoy to the UN for the World Council of Independent Christian Churches, Laurie Cardoza-Moore, will talk about one of our key allies, Israel. On the lighter side, we’ll visit with Christian pop music sensation Julianna Zobrist.  And actor/singer John Schneider of “The Dukes of Hazzard” will tell us about his amazing career and sing a special song for veterans.  I’ll also have serious commentary, some crazy news “In Case You Missed It,” and more surprises, plus Tre Corley and the best band on TV, the Music City Connection!

It’s headed your way tonight at 8 and 11 EST, 7 and 10 CST, repeated the same times on Sunday, on TBN. To find your local TBN channel and stream previous episodes online, visit

The Deal

By Mike Huckabee

Many of President Trump’s supporters are expressing disappointment that he agreed to a three-week spending deal that will temporarily end the partial government shutdown without providing any border wall funding.

But before Nancy Pelosi gloats any further about her success at keeping our borders unsafe and porous, bear in mind that this is only a three-week bill.  The deal will circumvent the media’s relentless focus on the government shutdown (and blaming Trump for it) and curtail rising problems like threats of air traffic controllers walking off the job.  Unlike the last President, Trump doesn’t want a shutdown to be disruptive and inconvenient for average Americans.  The three weeks will give him time to make his State of the Union Address and talk directly to the American people, and to disrupt the building “blame Trump for the shutdown” narrative and hopefully to turn public attention back to the border, where it belongs.

Our border debate

By Mike Huckabee

Are you sometimes confused by what appears to be political games in Washington with Democrats and Republicans blaming the other side for the gridlock that prevents serious solutions to serious issues like health care, national security, and jobs getting addressed? You might be confused or maybe amused by what appears to be the back and forth between Congress and the President, such as when Nancy Pelosi sent the President a letter and said that because of security concerns, he shouldn’t come to the House chamber for the State of the Union address, and instead should just send the report in writing. The President followed that up with a letter that canceled Nancy Pelosi’s trip with a group of Democrat Congressmen to Europe and the Middle East on an Air Force plane, saying that with the government shut down, the Speaker should stay in Washington to work to get things back open, which she claimed was her priority.

As is reliable as a good burp after drinking a Dr. Pepper, the media saw Ms. Pelosi’s action as bold, strategic, and great political hardball. And equally reliable as a headache after a quick and ample inhaling of a Slurpee, the same media saw the President’s reaction as childish, retaliatory, and petty.

Fact-checking the fact-checkers

By Mike Huckabee

Once again, we need someone to fact-check the fact-checkers, in this case,  That site tried to “debunk” the claim that the radical new pro-abortion law in New York State legalizes abortions right through the ninth month.  They did this by pointing out that the law only allows those under certain circumstances, such as to protect the health of the mother.

When I wrote about the bill, I addressed that by noting that the “health” exception is so vague that a doctor can subjectively allow an abortion of a viable late-term baby for virtually any reason by citing her “mental” or “emotional” health, family situation, or even her age.

At the link, the pro-life news site,, rebuts Snopes’ misleading “fact-check” by quoting the exact language of the New York law and the Supreme Court’s Doe v. Bolton decision that defined the “health” exemption.

This isn’t even the first time this week that Snopes’ “fact-checking” has been accused of being biased and inaccurate.

Remember that Snopes is one of those sites that social media platforms rely on for accurate, objective fact-checks when they ban someone, usually a pro-life conservative.  Keep this up, we may have to start referring to Snopes as “Oops!”

A new Liberal plan to save unions

By Mike Huckabee

For many years, one of the most reliable sources of money for the Democratic party was government workers’ unions.  But that suffered a major blow last summer with the landmark Supreme Court decision in Janus v. AFSCME.  The Court ruled that it’s a violation of the First Amendment to force non-union government employees to make dues-type payments to a union that uses them to help elect political candidates that the workers don’t support.  Since that ruling, tens of thousands of workers have stopped paying fees to the unions, substantially reducing the amount that union bosses have to spend on electing Democrats.

But when that much money is at stake, someone will always come up with a sneaky way to get around the rules.  One such plan is being laid right now in Oregon, with hopes that if they get away with it there, it can be spread to other liberal states.

Under this plan, instead of forcing workers to pay unions directly, the state or local government would divert some money from their pay into a slush fund that would go to the union.  As the story at the link explains, instead of paying a worker, say, $50,000 and making him give $1000 to the union, the pay for that job would be reduced to $49,000 and the other $1000 would go directly into the union fund.

There are a lot of problems with this: legal, logistical and (I’m sure this is the least of its creators’ concerns) ethical.  Workers would still, in effect, be seeing what should have been their pay go to political causes they might not support.  Plus, politicians would be giving money to unions that would use the money to reelect the politicians.  When they negotiate contracts, government would represent both labor and management (and nobody would be representing taxpayers.  Or Republicans.)

You can read more about this shifty grift at the link.  With all the effort that went into concocting this scheme to evade the SCOTUS ruling and the First Amendment, I wonder if anyone ever spent five minutes considering the best way to get workers to want to join a union: represent their interests instead of the Democratic Party’s.

Survey results

By Mike Huckabee

With the shutting down of all non-Trump Congressional investigations, do you think the new attorney general should appoint a special counsel/special ethics committee to investigate Hillary and her 2016 campaign?

14,971 YES VOTES

Pretty conclusive.

Holy Love

By Anonymous

A newsletter reader facing terminal cancer submitted this beautiful sonnet about how facing death has deepened his faith.

My soul wants to cry for aid
under a lowering sky.
But that's not how this game is played,
for I am marked to die.
The boon of palliative care
was never meant for me;
and it's in no way unfair
because now, on bended knee
I can behold in full a gentle Grace;
pain's opened divinity's door
and gave me glimpse of smiling Face;
how could I ask for more?
The clouds may be so grey above,
but over them, shines Holy Love.

    With 14,971 votes to "get" Hillary, against far fewer votes to either not get her or those poor derelict souls who don't know if they're coming or going and are "undecided", WHY, WHY, WHY has nothing been done about that awful human or worse yet, WHY, WHY, WHY won't anything EVER be done to her this side of the great white throne judgement???? Is that woman made of pure teflon that she can't or won't ever be indicted for her crimes??? It's very frustrating to watch from afar how she just gets by with murder(s) and continues to breathe free air!
