Democrats fearful of what Attorney General William Barr might expose in his “investigation of the investigators” are unloading on him now with both barrels, and the media are helping them. Yesterday, I wrote about an attempt by the Washington Post to help protect the Democrats and the reputation of the Obama Justice Department with a negative editorial on Barr, saying he “manipulated” the work of special counsel Robert Mueller. Today, the New York Times is helping them do the same thing, with a piece on how the government used a young female undercover agent (spy), who went by the name of Azra Turk (real identity unknown), to spy on Trump campaign adviser George Papadopoulos.

What?? The NYT is being open about the fact that the government SPIED on a member of the Trump team? How is that possibly helpful to the Democrats?

With gratitude,

April jobs

By Mike Huckabee

This morning, the Labor Department announced that in April, non-farm payrolls increased by a seasonally-adjusted 263,000, which is 73,000 more jobs than economists expected.  In addition, unemployment fell to 3.6%, the lowest rate since December of 1969, half a century ago. And average hourly wages for private-sector workers grew 3.2% from last April, matching March’s pay increase.

But by all means, let’s put Joe Biden in the White House to bring back those Obama economic policies.  Americans are getting tired of all the winning.  Let’s MASA: Make America Stagnant Again!

Our National Day of Prayer

By Mike Huckabee

Thursday was the National Day of Prayer, and President Trump and Vice President Pence hosted a Rose Garden ceremony to observe it.  Read Trump’s message at the link because it’s not only a strong endorsement of the tradition and power of prayer, but Trump also took the occasion to highlight efforts he has made to protect religious freedom and to announce new protections for religious health care providers. He wants to prevent them being forced to provide services that violate their religious beliefs, such as during the Obama Administration, when even nuns were sued to make them to pay for employees' contraceptives.

To be fair and accurate, I should mention there is a rumor on the Internet that Obama canceled the National Day of Prayer, and that’s false.  He did issue the yearly proclamation for it, but chose to observe it privately, ending George W. Bush’s tradition of holding a White House service.  And when an atheist group sued to declare the day unconstitutional, Obama’s DOJ fought the suit and won.  But I think it is also fair to say that Obama would never have announced new safeguards on religious freedom rights on the National Day of Prayer – or just about any other day.

A Special Event Tonight

By Mike Huckabee

As a great follow-up to the National Day of Prayer, I hope you can join me tonight, Friday, May 3, at DAR Constitution Hall in Washington, DC, for the “Faith, Family & Freedom Concert.”  Dr. Jack Graham and Michael Neale will be there, along with the 600-voice choir of the Prestonwood Baptist Church.  It’s going to be an amazing event.  Here’s a special video invitation with more information:

And depending on when you read this, there might still be time to reserve free tickets at this link, but you’d better hurry!  Hope to see you there!

339 emails

By Mike Huckabee

If you thought Peter Strzok and Lisa Page were the only lovebirds whose communications could bring down the entire anti-Trump deep state conspiracy, don’t forget the married team of Associate Deputy Attorney General Bruce Ohr and his wife Nellie Ohr, former employee of Fusion GPS.  That's the oppo research firm responsible for the sleazy “Russian dossier” on Trump for Hillary’s campaign.

Judicial Watch reports that it’s uncovered 339 emails showing that Nellie used her marital contact in the DOJ to write “Hi, Honey” notes that passed alone raw open-source intel to her husband and at least three DOJ prosecutors.  Sort of a personal pipeline to pump sewage from forces that wanted to defeat Trump directly to government officials who could use it to justify spying on him.  Oh, sorry: "spying" on him.

There are more details at the link, all adding up to more evidence that there was collusion and conspiracy taking place at the highest levels, but it had nothing to do with Trump colluding with Russia.

Paying for Medicare

By Mike Huckabee

Several Democratic Presidential hopefuls are promising “Medicare For All,” and when asked how to pay for it, they offer detailed responses such as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s “You just pay for it!  You’re paying more now!”

But are we paying more now?  The proponents of “Medicare For All” can’t tell us how much it will cost, so how do they know it will cost less than we’re paying now?  Especially considering that every local effort at single-payer health care has immediately run way over budget (“unexpectedly!”) and had to be reeled back.

Only conservatives are big enough buzzkills to actually try putting a price tag on “Medicare For All.”  The latest is economist Charles Blahous of George Mason University, who testified recently before the House Rules Committee on his findings.  He estimates that over the first 10 years, depending on whether it works exactly as predicted (it won’t) or goes over budget (it will), it would add between $32.6 and $38.8 trillion in new costs to the federal government.  That averages out to about $3.5 trillion a year in new costs to a government that already spends about $4 trillion a year total, and a trillion of that is borrowed money piled onto the $22 trillion national debt.

Blahous said that even if we doubled both individual and corporate income tax rates, it wouldn’t raise enough money to cover even the lower-end cost estimate.

And if you’re guessing that some Democrats will reply to that by suggesting we "just pay for it" by tripling income tax rates, they’re already way ahead of you.

Tim Tebow's Mom shares incredible moment

By Mike Huckabee

This week, Democrats are making news for blocking bills to provide medical care to babies born alive during abortions, and one (see yesterday’s newsletter) even argued that unwanted babies should just be killed to prevent them growing up to be criminals so we have to kill them later.

In the midst of this stunning display of heartlessness, a woman made an incredible speech at a fundraiser for a Christian crisis pregnancy center in Monroe, Michigan.  She shared the story of how she was told by doctors that her pregnancy was high risk because she was 37.  They advised her to abort, and called it a “mass of fetal tissue,” not a baby.  But even knowing the risk, she put her faith in God and refused to abort her baby.

She not only survived the pregnancy, but is still alive and well today. And you know that “mass of fetal tissue” as her son: Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow.

Funny Photo of the Day

By Mike Huckabee

Funny Photo of the Day:  The faces of the “Party of the Future.”  That is, all the white, male (and some pretty old) faces of the 2020 Democratic Presidential field.

If you think that’s an unfair characterization, note that three of the top Democratic candidates in polls are white males, the top two are white males in their 70s, and a twelfth white male just entered the race.  I’d tell you his name, but you can read it at the link.  I’ll bet that even after you do, you still won’t know who he is.

Reading about all the wonderful things on the 'Democratic-Socialist' platform of Ms. Ocasio-Cortez makes me think that we should nickname her "Matilda" as in that song, "Matilda!..Take me money and run Venezuela!"

Regarding your commentary on "Paying For Medicare", I would like to quote John Wayne - "Government has no wealth, and when a politician promises to give you something for nothing, he must first confiscate that wealth from you--either by direct taxes, or by the cruelty of the indirect tax of inflation."
