I always warn people not to pay too much attention to polls, particularly not polls taken months in advance of an election, when most Americans are too busy with real life (summer activities, getting the kids back to school, etc.) to pay attention to the political horse race obsessions of the media class.  And when you’re talking about “generic preference polls,” where it’s only about parties and not even actual candidates, you’ve descended to a whole new level of worthlessness.

Still, the fact that Real Clear Politics shows Democrats well ahead in all such polls in the races for Congress, with an average lead of 7.3 points, is both worrisome and baffling.  Intelligent people can’t help but look at the desire to return power to Democrats, shake their heads and ask, “Why?!”  Are they really tired of winning already?

Despite the never-ending anti-Trump propaganda blitz by the media, it can’t have escaped most Americans that they are far better off now than they were two years ago.  Economic growth has leaped by several points; unemployment hasn’t been this low in half a century, and that includes black and Hispanic unemployment.  Most Americans got a tax cut, with many companies opting to share theirs with workers in the form of raises, bonuses and new benefits.  Even with Democrats poo-pooing the results as “crumbs” and the cut as a “giveaway to the rich,” the rich are still paying the same hefty share of taxes as ever.  The resulting growth brought higher revenues to the government even with lower tax rates.

In terms of foreign policy, the North Korean nuclear threat is being dismantled, bad trade deals are being renegotiated, and ISIS has been nearly obliterated.  And with each new blow to Russia by Trump, the ridiculous “Russian collusion/Putin’s puppet” narrative looks more and more like the threadbare fairy tale that it is.

Meanwhile, what are the Democrats offering if they are returned to power?  They not only don’t have a positive platform, they can’t even come up with a slogan that means anything.  We know they’re in favor of hating Trump so much they’ll try to impeach him without grounds.  And they’re in favor of screaming, threatening and committing vandalism to silence and intimidate people who disagree with them.  They want to bring back Obamacare, higher tax rates and job-killing regulations.  They don’t want government insiders who abuse their power to be investigated or held to account.  And about two-thirds of them are assuring us that Democrats don’t want socialism, open borders or to abolish ICE, so ignore the other third who are loudly demanding that we embrace socialism, open our borders and abolish ICE.

Given all that, I’m hard pressed to understand why anyone would want to put these loons in charge of a snowcone stand, much less the United States Congress.  But maybe a deeper look at a new Rasmussen survey will provide some clues.  At the link, John Hinderaker of the Powerline Blog delves into the numbers and finds that the clues may lie in young Democrats’ cluelessness.

For instance, 51% of Democrats have a favorable view of socialism, but only 19% think the Party should “come out” openly as socialist (maybe they’re holding that big reveal as a post-election “surprise!”)  Digging deeper, we find that the numbers are skewed by Democrats under 40, who have a much more favorable opinion of socialism than older Democrats, and are much more in favor of the party becoming openly socialist.  However, they are also the group most likely not to understand what socialism or capitalism even mean; and most likely to believe that in a socialist government, individuals have more power than the government – which they really, really, really do not.

Again, I don’t put a lot of faith in early generic election polls, but these deeper surveys do indicate something I’ve long suspected: one of the worst mistakes conservatives ever made was letting leftists become entrenched in the education establishment and mislead generations of young Americans into swallowing toxic ideas such as socialism or thinking that protecting people’s feelings is more important than protecting free speech.  Let’s hope that come November, the silent majority of Americans who aren’t suffering the ignorance of history, economics and the Constitution that only comes from certain types of higher education will exercise their uniquely American individual power over the government by getting out and voting.

Let's consider Federal subpeona of illegal voter registration lists in certain states to discourage non-citizens from registering to vote. We need to take such a step until the BIG issue can be resolved and to fend off democratic actions in this direction. Stealing elections by illegal voting needs protection and this may be a temporary solution. Sometimes fighting fire with fire is necessary.

I see a big problem with election integrity. We really need to enforce only letting eligible voters vote. Voter ID is a must!

    2 things;
Our son recently had a conversation with his friend a retired West Point graduate. He was baffled that so many of the graduates in the last years are so radical and so many claim the democratic way of thinking. My son then ask him, how many of your teachers who were military and patriots have been called into active duty because of the Iraq/Afghanistan war? He did not know but would check. In a few days he reported back that almost all the teachers he had while there were no longer there and you can guess the rest. They have been replaced with non-military progressive professors like so many other colleges. Our young minds are being poisoned in our colleges.
    2nd thing.
I am an independent who does vote more conservative Rep. most of the time and for years have purposely, if qualified, voted in mid-terms for the opposite party that was in power just to keep a balance so that neither party ran away with a single agenda. This is probably the thinking of John McCain when he made his long speech about unity and working together as had been in the past. The speech fell on deaf ears and his vote sabotaged the heath-care situation. Will things have changed and now it seems that it is impossible the parties will work together. For the last 10-12 years, each party only seeks to imped the one with the majority. Neither work together but only obstruct the other. With President Trump, this has become more clear than ever before. No matter what that man accomplishes, the Trump haters will sink America's ship with themselves on the boat. I believe many other people have voted in the past the same as I have believing the balance was the best for America. It would be the best but until about 6 Dems. and a few tea-party people get out of the way, it can't happen. As Pompeo stated about Iran, the Dems are a mafia mentality and the good Dems. (and there are a few who did want to make a difference) have been shut out and shut up by their leaders. Obviously, I will vote straight Republican ticket this mid-term for America to have a future. Hope others will also.

Maybe the polls are lopsided because the conservatives are at work while the polls are being taken!

Thank you for mentioning the liberal/socialist propaganda that has existed in America for too many years! Now there is a problem that must be remediated asap!!

I live in New York, and in my life, I'm 59, I have never been asked to take a political poll from a source not online. Seems as though if they wanted equal party representation in a poll in NY, that Republicans would be contacted much more frequently than Demorats. The polls are rigged, they're never accurate. The Demorats take the polls and knowingly skew them to make it look better for Demorat candidates, and then believe the polls to be accurate. Then when they lose, they're devastated. Wash, rinse, repeat, and in November, be prepared for their water works.

your news letter was great today --It answered some questions I was thinking about. I do wonder though, with all the facts that conservatives know re: the cover-ups of Hillary's crimes or the Faked Dossier, why don't you famous News figures like Judge Jeanine and you and Sean Hannity--go before congress and insist on these stories come before all Americans and not just the listeners of Fox News ?? we people out here in this country have NO POWER to get justice accomplished and to make the damn Republicans and Congress (not Democrats) stop these people from continuing these cover-ups. YOU DO !

Last paragraph about letting leftists into our schools etc. Amen Amen, God forgive us. Schools here in Delaware are looking at trying to implement the whole package starting in kindergarten. They should just put get rid of the names of the schools and write Planet Fitness School #1, #2. Let the lawsuits begin. Thank you for keeping this on the front burner.

Here is my take on another really big question the dems always push.

Every liberal/Dem wants to know what Putin is holding over Donald Trump's head. It is not a secret, it is simply ignored. It is the American Space Station, called the ISS. Democrats killed our chances of maintaining lift capacity for us to get to our own space station. Now RUSSIA holds the only taxi service to and from OUR space station. Trump stomps Putin and he cuts off our taxi service and assumes control of OUR space station. In this case, it is "ROCKET SCIENCE". So what are we to do, blast it out of space? I don't think so.... Of course Crimea, Ukraine, and Eastern Europe are paying the price. Why does everyone ignore the obvious? I've mentioned this to a number of politicians and talking heads. It is dropped like the hot rock it is. Prove me wrong! I'd love to know why this is not a hot button issue.

Check 12, (This means look ahead to Jesus return and the fulfilled promises He brings.)

Mike you're absolutely correct when we dummy down the school system and allowed the far left to take over the administration and the education of our children we have done such a disservice to these young people now some middle-aged people. Their information comes from sound bites from sources like CNN which I used to watch years ago but it has degraded into something I can't even call news! These young people are trying to enter the job market with virtually no skills including what service means and caring about the customer! It's a sad State of Affairs but I also agree with you that the mainstream voter be he Democrat or Republican are going to say am I better off now than I was 2 years ago! That will service in good Stead as long as everyone gets out and votes. With the appointment of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh we will be setting up a conservative bench for decades to come. Also Ruth Ginsburg will be retiring soon I pray and that will give him another opportunity to put a conservative constitutionalist on the Supreme Court bench. Thank you Mike for your directness, sense of humor, and understanding the big picture which we all must do in these times of travails! God bless you and your lovely daughter as she continues to stand up to those bullies everyday in her press conferences! I can truly understand her wanting to step down after 2 years of being beat up everyday in those meetings. She's done a fantastic job and deserves time with her family. Thanks again Mike for your steadfastness and your Clarity in reporting the facts. David and Rhonda Wilson

Good questions raised. As an educator, I totally agree with the point that conservatives made a mistake allowing left-wing agendas into education. This is what we are seeing today: decades of young people having been taught little or nothing about principles of capitalism, communism, and the foundation of America. Colleges and universities are producing ignorant graduates mainly interested in destroying statues and labeling conservatives as racist. They have no idea what will happen with no borders. And the biggest issue of all in education is indoctrinating children with the notion that they can choose their sex. There are too many negative consequences to name as a result of left-wingers in education. Today's political problems are a result of the silent majority not taking a stand. I pray that reason kicks in and the moderate democrats come to their senses and conservatives get involved voting in level-headed thinkers. I share Governor Huckabee's concerns.

I believe these people are thinking this socialism will give them something for nothing. I think they are uneducated on what socialism really is. Let’s esucate them. They want free handouts! I also believe the Republicans have gotten comfortable with all the changes in our economy and the like since President Trump saves us from the years of oppression under Obama. Time to shake us up, make us realize we could loose congress. I was shocked to ready your article. Let’s get the message out to ALL republicans we’ve got to hold congress if we want to keep our positive changes President Trump has implemented! There’s many like me that thought the dems are so out of control they don’t have a chance. Please stand up, get the word out. Safe our America!!! Thank you for listening, I hope and pray we win!
