It now appears that thanks to brilliant Old World construction, brave firefighters and perhaps miraculous intervention, much less of Notre Dame Cathedral was destroyed than was first feared.  The worst damage seems to have been contained to the spire and roof.  Here is the latest accounting.

Even the 8,000-pipe organ seems to have emerged relatively unscathed, although there might be some water damage.

Over a billion dollars has already been pledged to help rebuild the Cathedral…

The most worrisome question, though, is whether the great Cathedral that has survived revolutions, world wars and a devastating fire can survive its own restoration, if we let politically correct leftists stick their fingers into the job?

Already, we’re seeing strong efforts to downplay the true meaning of the Cathedral.  Rep. Ilhan Omar, in sending what appears on the surface to be a thoughtful comment, managed to mourn the loss to “art” and “architecture” while never mentioning Christianity, Catholicism or even the word “cathedral.”

But that was subtle compared to some historic revisionists who see the Cathedral as the ultimate jackpot.  More than taking down a mere Confederate monument or statue of Thomas Jefferson, they see a chance to erase all vestiges of Christianity that’s been entwined with France’s history and culture for 850 years.

Think I’m overstating the case?  Rolling Stone already ran a piece quoting self-appointed deep thinkers from places such as Harvard (wonder if their parents bribed someone to get them in?), yammering polysyllabicly about how the Cathedral was “overburdened” with Christian meaning (imagine that in a cathedral), and France needs to rebuild it to represent the modern, non-white (why are leftists so obsessed with race?), secular France.  Yes, that’s just we need: to turn Notre Dame into a “secular” cathedral.  What would they do instead of holding Mass there, show Michael Moore movies?

I refuse to contribute to Rolling Stone’s click count by linking to that piece of disgusting dreck, so instead I’ll link to this piece that includes some quotes in service of ripping it to shreds.

French officials have also announced a contest to design a new spire for Notre Dame, and determine whether it should be rebuilt to be identical to the spire that was lost or “updated for the modern age.”  Well, why not just replace the spire with a giant set of McDonald’s Golden Arches?  No, that would never happen because Parisians are too proud of their French heritage and culture to allow such a thing.

Then why on Earth would they even consider letting these arrogant, self-important frauds desecrate the Notre Dame Cathedral with their idiotic leftist politics and call it "modernization?"

The MINUTE I saw the blaze on TV -- as soon as the spire fell -- I turned to my husband and said (sarcastically) -- "Of COURSE, the French will take this opportunity to 'revise' this ancient House of Worship for the Holy Spirit into a House of Worship to the 'spirit of France.' " It will be a symbol of the One World Church, and all references to our Lord and Savior will be removed (in the interest of "safety"). Despite all the statements to the contrary, I believe we will see this happen. The "new spire" contest is just the beginning of this.

More of the "new and improved" versions of everything. Have been in this "church". It is a part of human history - all of us.

I am not a conspiracy theorist but isn't it odd that several synagogues and churches have been vandalized and desecrated the last few months over there.

With the advent of liberalism claiming France's Government I wouldn't be surprised to see a rainbow colored spire. I'm sure the POPE will say they need to modernize it as to do away with the traditional look being a leftist activist himself. Also with the now large moslem population I'm sure they will want no crosses or anything else to make it look like a Catholic church. The fire was probably caused by old faulty wiring but my mind tells me look at the moslems for this act as it is what they have done in every country they invade.

    The Cathedral Of Notre Dame;
    Written by: Buck Wimbs
The burning of Notre Dame is a great lost to the secular world, one of the most beautiful pieces of architecture that men has ever built. However, no matter how grand and elegant it was, it was nothing more than a building, God didn't live there, he never did, a building can not contain God. Millions of people have visited the Cathedral and many of them hoping to find a glimpse of God there, to be disappointed to find that he didn't live there. Primitive religions are abundantly supplied with examples of buildings and shrines as a house or shrine to an idol or a god. Animistic religionists believe that spirits live in trees, rocks, caves, or sacred groves. The Egyptians deified animals such as crocodiles, cats, cows, birds and beetles. The Greeks and Romans built for their gods splendid mansions and palaces as their dwelling places. However, the God revealed in the Bible is fundamentally different than the gods of the nations (Gentiles). God does not need houses or temples to dwell in; the entire universe is God's house, the God of the bible can not be contain, God contains the universe. "the heaven of heavens cannot contain Him" and His infinite Spirit can not be confined in any way to man-made dwelling places: Acts 7:48-50 (KJV)
48 Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet,
49 Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: what house will ye build me? saith the Lord: or what is the place of my rest?
50 Hath not my hand made all these things?
Jesus is God and the Old Testament strictly forbids the making or worshiping of any such likeness of God. truth. Exodus 20:4 (KJV) 4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: The reason is found in the truth that the worship of God was and is to be spiritual, not material. The Lord Jesus stressed this in John 4 when He said, John 4:22-24 (KJV)
22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.
23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. Note that Jesus said, “must worship Him in Spirit and in truth.” A statue or an object can never truly represent the truth about Christ and of necessity must misrepresent what Scripture teaches about Him. Though He became man of very man, true humanity, He was at the same time, God of very God, undiminished deity. Having statues of Jesus or God result in two things, both of which are wrong. They easily slip into some from of idol worship and they must misrepresent the truth. There is no way anything made by the hands of man could even begin to properly represent the full essence of God. As such, it would dishonor His infinite person and essence.
Today one of the biggest idols is education, we have just about educated ourselves out of anything to believe. I have alway been puzzled and fail to see the need for these PHD's who write Op-eds and call them sermons from God to tell us what the bible says and means when a person with a sixth grade education can understand what God is trying to tell him if he rally wants to know. If all a man can doing is to speak to your human reasoning he will never be able to present God to you. He is trying to offer you a secular proposition when the proposition is spiritual, and all the education in the world can not deliver to a spiritually starved soul the soul saving proposition of faith in a God that is Spirit and must be worshipped in Spirit and Truth.
When you go the house of worship to find God you are at the wrong place if you didn't bring him with you he is not there. While it truth that God at one time met the Jews at the Tabernacle and Temple but that has all changed in this dispensation of grace. Howbeit, today God dwells in the heart of the saved person. God is Spirit and your relationship with him now is Spiritually and all his blessings are spiritual. Your citizenship is spiritual in heaven; if you are saved you do now sit with Jesus in heaven not in a building here on earth. You are the Temple of God. All your communication is through the Holy Spirit of God, you can only communicate with him in Prayer, he makes no physical appearances to you. Those claiming to talk to Jesus in any other way except pray are liars and cheats, they are con men and are to be avoided at all times. Anything God does for you today will be done spiritually. God in his dispensation of grace has made no provision for the flesh. God is Spirit and must be worshipped in Spirit and Truth.
These fancy, beautiful buildings have in many ways become Idols to many. We believe we get closer to God by have attended one of these building, if that were true every body that ever walked into one of these places would be near God and that for sure is not the truth. If a person goes to one of these beautiful building for it's beauty and wonder I don't think there is anything wrong in that and I can not find that the scripture condemn it either. However, if you have went because you think that will bring you closer to God because you have gone there, then you are wrong if you don't bring God with you then he is not there.
    Acts 7:48-50 (KJV)
48 Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet,
49 Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: what house will ye build me? saith the Lord: or what is the place of my rest?
50 Hath not my hand made all these things?

Notre Dame is a monument to both French culture and to the Catholic faith. It must be restored, not rebuilt, exactly as it was and where it was, to quote the phrase used immediately after the horrible fire at the La Fenice opera house in Venice Italy, 20 years ago. It is first and foremost a cathedral and a Christian house of God. And the incredibly beautiful works of art it contained, which miraculously appear to have survived, were all inspired by that faith. Anyone who says otherwise commits the sin of hubris against not only God but humanity, humanism and mankind's quest for the divine.

The following comments are taken from Crisis Magazine, a Catholic publication. The entire publication can be found at: Though I am a Baptist, this was a very interesting perspective from a prophetic point of view.

Was the near destruction of Notre Dame Cathedral simply the result of an accidental fire? Or was it also a prophetic sign?
In the Bible, the destruction of a city or a temple is often linked to immorality or unbelief. The fire and brimstone that was rained down on Sodom was punishment for the sins of its people. Likewise, Jesus warned the people of Capernaum and other cities that their fate could be worse than Sodom’s because they did not repent despite the “mighty works” he had performed in their midst (Matt. 11:20-24). When Jesus wept over the city of Jerusalem, he prophesied that its enemies “will not leave one stone upon another in you, because you did not know the time of your visitation” (Luke 19:41-44).

With 140 to 150 churches in France being damaged and burned it seems that there needs to be more of a security system around these churches . I would say multiple systems because if you have a real person only you run the risk of them being killed . This is the same group and of course none of these problems existed before Europe was invaded by them.
The best way to handle these people who is pretty much set forth in several YouTube is presented by Dr. Bill Warner PhD . He is the four most authority on political Islam . These people were not assimilate and they must be met with resistance at every step of the way .

I’m praying that Christian revival will come to France. With only 2% of the people being Christian I’m not surprised that they want to change things.
