Joe Biden is getting the MeToo treatment about his longtime free-and-easy comportment around women, and it’s interesting to see the panicked confusion this is sparking among Democrats.

Some obviously want to defuse this problem because they think Biden is their best shot to defeat Trump in 2020. But they have to be veeeeeery careful about how they phrase any defense of him, lest they be branded as enablers of sexual predators (Hillary Clinton is the only Democrat who get a free pass for that.) So fellow DC veterans such as Nancy Pelosi are rushing to declare that this doesn’t disqualify him from the Presidency…

The ladies of “The View” tried to depict Biden as just a warm and cuddly fellow who expresses affection physically to men and women alike but means nothing untoward by it (Whoopi Goldberg even gave a new twist to the term “a hands-on kind of guy.”)

With gratitude,

Mike Huckabee

Laura Ainsworth: An "emperor's new clothes" moment about "Beto" O'Rourke

By Laura Ainsworth, Staff writer

“'Beto' O’Rourke is a booger-eating moron.”

That’s what flew out of Larry Gatlin’s mouth over the weekend on FOX News HQ on Sunday in an interview with Leland Vittert and Kristin Fisher, who seemed somewhat at a loss for how to respond. I, however, loved it. In fact, one reason I’m writing this is that I hope Mr. Gatlin doesn’t regret making saying it. Larry, if you are reading this, I want to tell you that if I had been sitting there in the studio, I would have given you an enthusiastic standing-O for daring to offer this observation out loud. It was a fabulous emperor’s-new-clothes moment, in which someone finally voiced the exact thing that I and, it is hoped, millions of others have been thinking to themselves.

(Incidentally, folks, I just saw Larry Gatlin in person a few weeks ago, as he and his brothers were in concert in nearby Arlington, Texas, and my husband –- fellow “Huckabee” writer/researcher Pat Reeder –- and I would not have missed it. We even got to hang out with them in the Green Room for a little while before the show. And what a great show it was! The Gatlins also performed recently on the Gov.’s TBN weekend show. But I digress.)

AOC is "no sale"

By Mike Huckabee

Like a time-share condo they swear someone else will pay for, the media keep giving us a hard sell on Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.  This week, her face graces the cover of Time magazine (Remember Time? Remember magazines?)  The caption in large font reads: “The Phenom.”  Well, they’ve been remarkably successfully at making her into a media phenomenon, but if the point was to pitch her socialist policies, most Americans are saying, “No sale.”

Recent polls show that the more Americans learn about AOC and her far-left policies, the less they like them.  Now, even some of her own constituents may be starting to feel a little buyer’s remorse at having elected a socialist media star with global ambitions instead of a Representative of the Bronx.

North Dakota fossil story

By Mike Huckabee

Paleontologists digging in North Dakota have found what’s being hailed as the most important discovery of the new century: a “time capsule of the end of the world.”

It’s the perfectly-preserved fossilized remains of a group of fish, insects, mammals and one dinosaur, all jumbled together, that apparently all died at the same moment 66 million years ago, when a tsunami-like wave and a shower of rocks, sand and molten glass buried them alive.  It's believed to have happened just minutes after a huge asteroid smashed into the Earth near Mexico, ending the era of the dinosaurs.  They even found charred trees and dinosaur footprints from just before the blast.

Schiff is bereft of humor and intelligence

By Mike Huckabee

This past week, all the Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee called on chairman Adam Schiff to step down, saying they had no faith in his leadership and he had discredited the committee by continuing to promote a “demonstrably false narrative” that President Trump colluded with Russia in the 2016 election.  That includes claiming on numerous media outlets that he has evidence to back those accusations, yet never providing any.

After the revolt, Schiff went on a rant and doubled-down, listing all the ways in which Trump or his associates allegedly engaged in illegal or suspicious behavior.  But once again, he provided no evidence, and the things he mentioned that are now in the public sphere he got wrong in easily-refuted ways, as you can read at this link.

Understanding socialism

By Mike Huckabee

One of the many fatal flaws of socialism is that people who are sold on it have no idea what it actually is.  For instance, one popular defense of socialism on social media is that if you are in favor of fire departments, highways, Social Security, etc., then you love socialism.  Except those things are NOT “socialism.”  Every government has certain things it does in the public interest and pays for through taxes.  That is not government control of the means of production.

And Social Security was designed as an insurance program to which people contributed throughout their lives and got their own money back in retirement.  It was perverted through the years by government spending the money on other things and replacing it with IOUs, which turned it by default into an entitlement program that it was never meant to be. Now, one generation pays in and the money goes to generations that joined earlier.  That’s not exactly socialism, either, that’s a “Ponzi scheme.”  If you ran a system like that in the private sector, you’d end up in prison with Bernie Madoff.  But socialism and Ponzi schemes are similar in that they both take money from one person and give it to another, and they both eventually collapse.

Hallmarks of Leftists

By Mike Huckabee

If you’ve been paying attention for the past hundred years or so, you might’ve noticed that there are two hallmarks of leftists:

1.  Nothing they believe in works.

2.  That’s always someone else’s fault.

For instance, Venezuela recently blamed its socialist death-rattle blackouts on President Trump and capitalists.  But then, Trump is to blame for everything, from the New Zealand shooting to the anti-Semitism in the Democratic Party to the Boeing plane crash to Barbra Streisand’s weight gain and Barbara Bush’s heart attack.

"Unplanned" scores big returns

By Mike Huckabee

Over the weekend, the powerful movie “Unplanned,” based on the true story of former Planned Parenthood clinic manager Abby Johnson, made it to #5 on the top box office list, with an estimated $6.2 million gross. That’s more than double the most optimistic estimate, and more than the entire production budget. Even though it’s on only 1,059 screens nationwide, it made $5770 per screen, more than “Captain Marvel.” It also grossed over a million dollars more than the new animated movie “Wonder Park,” which is on over three times as many screens. The producers announced that they will add another 600 screens next weekend.

And congratulations, too, to lead actress Ashley Bratcher for a riveting performance that should earn her awards consideration, but will most likely get her blacklisted in Hollywood instead. (Hollywood only hates blacklists of leftists from the ‘50s; blacklists of conservatives and pro-lifers today are fine.)
