As interesting as Elon Musk’s buyout of Twitter is, I don’t want to spend too much time writing about it because I can’t help feeling that most people just don’t care that much. This is the kind of story that’s vitally important to people who live in insulated, liberal media bubbles; but the vast majority of Americans have actual lives and never even glance at Twitter. Same reason I don’t write much about MSNBC.

Still, since it is getting a lot of media attention, I figured I’d do a very quick recap of a few of the more interesting stories:

1. Musk announced that he plans to cut 3,700 jobs at Twitter, which is about half the staff. Ed Driscoll at Instapundit reasonably asks why Twitter would need to employ 2,400 more staffers than the New York Times? I assume because there is nobody at the Times trying to express a conservative viewpoint that needs to be censored.

2. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez lashed out at Musk for offering users blue-check certification like celebrities get for $8 a month. You’d think she’d like that, being a big egalitarian, but no. She thinks that a social media business owned by a billionaire should give away its services for free (outrage at the idea of having to pay for anything yourself is common among college-bred, over-privileged socialists.) Musk’s response to her was worth eight bucks in itself. He tweeted back a screenshot of an overpriced $58 AOC hoodie sold on her website with the message, “Your feedback is appreciated, now pay $8.”

3. “Will & Grace” star Debra Messing is the latest Hollywood celeb to leave Twitter in a huff because somehow, letting anyone who disagrees with her have free speech means hate, misinformation and the end of civilization. That’s rich, considering she’s famous for hysterical and inaccurate attacks on Republicans, with the attitude that anyone to the right of Karl Marx is Hitler.  Warning, she says she’s moving to Instagram, so monitor your kids’ IG surfing even more closely.

4. Finally, here’s a list of major moves Musk has taken since assuming control of Twitter.

There, that’s all the Twitter news in a series of short bursts. So, who needs Twitter?

    Hi Mike and crew,
I know you don't want to spend too much time on Twitter, and I get it. But I think we need to stay in tune and be praying that this is a shift in social media for free speech. We need our first amendment reinstated in these platforms.
    I thought this was interesting.
