President Trump on Tucker's show

Last night, Tucker Carlson aired part one of an in-depth interview with former President Trump. Topics ranged from dealing with China’s President Xi (“top of the line smart”) to the indictment against Trump in New York (he said he would never drop out of the race for President) to Biden’s mental fitness for office to the world’s biggest threat (it’s “nuclear warming,” not climate change) to who really blew up Russia’s Nord Stream Pipeline. Trump said he knows but wouldn’t say because he doesn’t want to embarrass America, but he did scoff at the claim that Russia blew up their own pipeline.

If you missed it, you can read some of Trump’s comments here…

Keep the Newsletter Going: Buy Mike Huckabee’s Book: The Three Cs That Made America Great: Christianity, Capitalism and the Constitution

America faces a war of values that will determine its future and likely decide if it will continue as a great nation on the world stage. Mike Huckabee and Steve Feazel sound a needed alarm to Christians and conservatives to answer the call to action and push back against the forces that desire to move America from its heritage and founding principles. It is time for God's people to take an active role in the political arena, not with violence, but with votes and voices that proclaim and defend the values that made our nation the brightest light of freedom the world has ever known.

It’s official

The 2024 Democratic National Convention will be held in Chicago, and the gunfire you hear is not celebratory, it’s just the usual background noise in Chicago. Chicago beat out Atlanta and New York for the “honor.”

https://redstate.com/jenniferoo/2023/04/11/illinois-gov-j-b-pritzker-ensured-chicago-won-the-bid-to-host-the-2024-democrat-national-convention-n729877

In praising the choice, President Biden said, “Democrats will gather to showcase our historic progress including building an economy from the middle out.” I agree with the choice, but obviously, for very different reasons. I would say the Democrats are hollowing the economy from the middle out.

But I can’t think of a better location to showcase Democrat policies than Chicago, other than maybe Portland, Seattle or San Francisco.

https://redstate.com/smoosieq/2023/04/10/whole-foods-is-shuttering-its-flagship-store-in-san-francisco-just-a-year-after-it-opened-n729504

They may have more pierced nutjobs, homeless people and sidewalk feces, but Chicago is the perfect example of old school Democrat corruption and gang violence, having been run solely by Democrats since 1931 and having the body count to show for it. Voters there recently had an opportunity to turn things around, but decided instead to pick a mayor who will double down on leftist insanity and criminal coddling. You’d think by now Chicago residents would have learned how to dodge a bullet.

https://www.westernjournal.com/democrats-picked-2024-convention-location-shows-no-one-vote/

I hope the GOP will wise up and pick a city run by Republicans, although those are harder to find, even in red states. The American people deserve a good, clear A-B comparison of the differences between the governance of the two parties, which has resulted in so many U-Hauls making one-way trips from blue to red states.

https://www.dailywire.com/news/walmart-closes-four-stores-in-chicago-amid-elevated-crime-rates

Of course, they also have a perfect example of it in the Trump and Biden Administrations: a term of peace, prosperity, strength, energy independence, secure borders, a strong military, cheap gas, low inflation, real GDP growth and rising wages for all workers for the first time in decades, compared to…well, Joe Biden.

That’s why the left is so desperate to smear Trump at every turn and keep him off the media so he can’t defend himself. It’s brainwashing on a mass scale. They can’t let Americans be reminded of how good they had it just a few short years ago, when 70% of them weren’t feeling financial stress, and 58% weren’t living paycheck-to-paycheck. I wonder if they'll mention this at their convention, and if so, how they'll manage to blame Trump for it.

A Democrat governance problem

Speaking of the violent results of Democrat governance, all the recent mass shootings by deranged leftists are being blamed, as usual, on the guns, the Second Amendment and Republicans.  But as Robert Stacy McCain at Spectator.org reminds us, America doesn’t have a murder problem. It has a Democrat governance problem.

https://spectator.org/why-do-democrats-think-they-can-win-the-crime-issue/

McCain quotes research by John R. Lott Jr. that found that in the vast majority of counties in America, murder is practically nonexistent. There are more than 3,000 counties in the US, and 52% had zero murders in 2020, while the worst 2% (62 counties) accounted for 56% of all murders. Those counties are almost all Democrat-run urban areas. The cities with the highest murder rates per capita are St. Louis, Baltimore, New Orleans, Detroit and Cleveland, all Democrat strongholds.

The report also found that suburban households are 37.9% more likely to own guns than urban households, but “Despite lower gun ownership, urban areas experience much higher murder rates.” I love the use of the word "despite." Just a guess, but maybe that’s because the urban areas make it illegal for law-abiding citizens to own guns, so the only people who have them are criminals.

McCain quotes many more stats to show that while mass murder is rampant in blue cities, as well as deadly crimes committed with weapons other than guns, the media ignore those murders to concentrate on those that are most useful for the gun control narrative.

It all proves that the popular Internet meme is actually true: We could cut murders by over 90% if Democrats would just stop shooting people.

Our two-tiered justice system

In yet another example of how the poor, marginalized “trans” community is terribly oppressed, the Biden “Justice” Department cut a sweetheart deal for Maeve Nota, a 31-year-old transgender individual who vandalized the St. Louise Catholic Church in Bellevue, Washington, to protest the overturn of Roe v. Wade. Nota will serve no jail time, despite admitting to defacing the church with profane graffiti, smashing two glass doors with rocks, destroying a statue of the Virgin Mary, assaulting a church worker and resisting arrest (I mean REALLY resisting: he used a backpack full of spray cans to smash a police car.)  He should’ve been charged with a federal hate crime and more, but instead, the DOJ agreed to a misdemeanor destruction of religious property charge and recommended three years’ probation.

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/biden-doj-recommends-no-jail-time-for-trans-vandal-of-catholic-church-f-catholics

As noted at the linked story, this is the same Biden “Justice” Department that's been trying to railroad pro-life activists into federal prison for over a decade for such heinous crimes as praying outside abortion clinics or shoving a pro-abortion activist who was harassing one man’s young son.

It’s yet another shameful example of the two-tiered “justice” system, the weaponization of our law enforcement agencies for political reasons, and the targeting of conservative, pro-life Christians, who are now the real marginalized Americans. Let us all pray, and turn out to the polls in full force in 2024, to ensure that the people currently in power are thrown out and these abhorrent and un-American policies not only scrapped, but their offices fumigated.

Until that day, you will continue to see quotation marks every time I write Biden “Justice” Department.

Tim Scott for President

And another one enters the race…maybe. South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott announced that he’s forming an exploratory committee for a presidential run.

https://redstate.com/joesquire/2023/04/12/south-carolina-senator-tim-scott-announces-exploratory-committee-for-president-n730109

I imagine the Democrats are also forming an exploratory committee to figure out how they claim Tim Scott is a white supremacist.

“Stop The Presses!” Moment

For what is believed to be the first time ever, Stephen Colbert actually made a joke at Joe Biden’s expense.

https://redstate.com/bobhoge/2023/04/11/stephen-colbert-actually-mocks-biden-in-a-departure-from-his-usual-dnc-talking-points-n730050

I mean, it was a Stephen Colbert joke, so don’t expect it to be too funny, but still…the miracle is that it happened at all!

Bud Light backlash continues

The backlash against Bud Light for using “trans” activist Dylan Mulaney as an endorser has been brutal and is snowballing to catastrophic levels. As Don Surber reports in a blunt assessment of Mulvaney’s repulsive “womanface” act, bars are reporting that patrons who normally order Bud Light are suddenly about as likely to drink it as I would be.

https://donsurber.substack.com/p/womanface-is-the-new-blackface?publication_id=1115457&post_id=113492041&isFreemail=true

Fox Business News reports that the drop in sales has been described as a “bloodbath” (also something drinkers would prefer to Bud Light), while anecdotal stories from bar owners are even worse.

https://townhall.com/columnists/bradslager/2023/04/11/the-bud-light-debacle-was-by-design-but-is-not-going-according-to-plan-n2621814

One bar owner said 80% of his usual Bud Light drinkers refused to order it, and the 20% who did weren’t on social media and hadn’t heard about this story. But once they were told, they said they wouldn’t order it again. I’m not a marketing expert, but 80% plus 20% seems like a pretty big chunk of customers to lose.

Another article claimed that Bud Light parent company Anheuser Busch is still clinging to hopes that this will all blow over quickly and customers will forget about it, or that consumers will unknowingly order another beverage that they also make, so it won’t hurt their bottom line.

Now, I normally don’t advocate boycotts, which tend to hurt rank and file workers who had nothing to do with the idiotic political activism of the corporate suits. But I don’t like the idea of trying to hoodwink customers by selling them something from the same company that offended them, just under a different name. I thought liberals were all about “fact-checking” and stamping out “misinformation.” So purely in the interests of creating an informed public, here’s a list of all the brands owned by Anheuser Busch (did you know they also make Michelob?)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anheuser-Busch_brands

And for those who have a subscription to Townhall.com and think Don Surber was too gentle and diplomatic, Kurt Schlichter has a subscriber-only column on how the “trans” assault on women’s rights will never end until women get together and say they’ll no longer tolerate it, and then men will back them. Women have to stop fighting among themselves, with “woke” women siding against other women on behalf of men taking over their sports, locker rooms and private spaces:

We Need More Of This

Actual female social media influencers are responding to Dylan Mulvaney’s nonsensical “365 days of ‘womanhood’” ballyhoo by marking how many days they’ve been women and/or mothers, and asking, “Where’s my sponsorship?”

Really Fun Read

Watch Elon Musk force a liberal BBC reporter to admit he doesn’t know what he’s talking about in claiming uncensored hate speech is rising on Twitter, and he can’t cite a single example of it.

https://redstate.com/bonchie/2023/04/12/elon-musk-takes-ownership-of-the-bbc-after-epic-exchange-with-dishonest-reporter-n730110

Related: The BBC was upset that Twitter labeled them “government-funded media,” claiming they are “independent” and “publicly-funded through the license fee.” So Musk agreed to change their label to “publicly-funded media.”

...Even though the license fee is required by law and enforced by the government, so it’s not as if Britons are sending them money voluntarily to get a BBC tote bag. And I suspect Big Ben will topple over before the BBC ever airs an independent voice that in any way challenges liberal government narratives.

Fact-checking

The alleged “fact-checking” site Politifact is getting roundly razzed after they had to admit Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis was correct in saying that Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg downgrades most felony charges to misdemeanors, then they tried to weasel out by claiming that’s “a common practice among peer counties.”

https://www.foxnews.com/media/politifact-dragged-begrudgingly-admitting-desantis-right-bragg-regret-inform

If by “peer counties” they mean fellow Soros-backed DAs who’ve unleashed deadly crime waves in blue cities nationwide, then I grade their response “Accurate.” Any other conservative points they’d like to make for us?

Bragg sues to stop congressional subpoenas (!);  White House lies again

“The Democrats have even said I’m innocent...I think it was Andrew McCabe, the FBI guy who I fired --- he came out and said, ‘They’ve got no case.’  They’ve all come out and said it.”

That was President Trump talking with Tucker Carlson, in an interview aired Tuesday night, about his recent indictment and arraignment by Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg, who has made it clear since he first ran for that office that he was on a seek-and-destroy operation.  Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, has subpoenaed Mark Pomerantz, the former senior prosecutor on the case who not only angrily resigned when Bragg initially hesitated to bring charges but even wrote a book about it.  He made it clear in the book that their mission was to stop Trump.

The next hearing by the Judiciary Committee will be next week in New York City, so they can also hear testimony from some of the many victims of crime in Bragg’s criminal-infested city.

But Bragg has sued to block the subpoenas relating to Trump’s indictment.

https://www.westernjournal.com/alvin-bragg-takes-legal-action-jim-jordan-house-judiciary-committee-turns-heat/

Jordan tweeted, “First, they indict a President for no crime.  Then, they sue to block congressional oversight when we ask questions about the federal funds they say they used to do it.”  And Jordan didn’t just pull this out of his hat; he pulled it out of Article I of the Constitution.

Congress has broad authority to do this --- try oversight and the power of the purse.  They get to sit in judgment over state prosecutors in a situation such as this, as it can even affect our relations with other nations when they see us attacking our own internal political adversaries.  This is called “checks and balances,” which Bragg might want to study up on in a remedial course on the Constitution, even if he did go to Harvard.

Also, recall that Bragg said when he was running for DA that he would prosecute Trump, when no federal crime had been found.  Targeting someone for investigation because you don’t like him or his politics is not permissible, at least the way the laws are written.  This is a violation of their code of conduct and is, as noted civil rights attorney Alan Dershowitz has said, grounds for disbarment.  (He also could be disbarred, Dershowitz said, for knowingly using false testimony from convicted liar Michael Cohen.)

Also, the dogged pursuit of Trump has clearly shown Bragg’s intent to interfere with an election.  Why would he have bothered with all this if he didn’t think Trump was running again?  It’s not as if the City of New York didn’t have enough crime to deal with.

In other get-Trump news, Sean Hannity reported what you might have read here yesterday:  that a group called America First Legal has obtained internal government documents that show the Biden White House apparently had a role in getting boxes of archival documents from Mar-A-Lago to the FBI.  The White House has denied this, even saying they were “stunned” to learn about the raid on social media. (The White House isn’t supposed to be involved in the archival document retrieval process unless the requested documents are required for the President’s execution of business.)

https://hannity.com/media-room/they-knew-biden-admin-officials-were-involved-in-mar-a-lago-raid-despite-denial-report/

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/biden-white-house-officials-involved-mar-a-lago-raid-despite-claiming-otherwise-report

https://dailycaller.com/2023/04/11/biden-white-house-doj-coordinated-raid-trumps-mar-a-lago-docs-show/

Thanks to Sean for airing the clip of Karine Jean-Pierre reading a prepared statement from her binder: “The President and the White House learned about this FBI search from public reports.  We learned just like the American public did, uh, yesterday, and we did not have advance notice, uh, of this activity.  President Biden has been very clear from before he was elected President and throughout his time in office that the Justice Department conducts its investigations independently.”

Well, not so independently, it turns out.  The contemporaneous documents show the involvement of the White House.  Further, the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) misled Congress about the White House’s role, which essentially provided pretext for the shocking raid.  This was an abuse of power on Biden’s part that was covered up with lies.

By the way, J. Christian Adams at PJ MEDIA reports that Bragg has hired a new prosecutor to work the Manhattan Trump case, Matthew Coangelo, who “was involved in some of the most ideologically driven election law decisions of the Eric Holder era --- ranging from attacks on voter ID laws to failing to enforce federal laws requiring states to maintain voter rolls.”  In 2012, he was in a position to block South Carolina from instituting voter ID, and that’s what he did.  Coangelo is from Harvard, just as Bragg (unbelievably) is.

After reading about the South Carolina voter ID case, we figure that if Coangelo for some reason had to leave the DOJ --- say, as part of a badly needed housecleaning there --- he’d probably go to work for Marc Elias.  I wouldn’t be surprised if there were a job waiting for him there.

https://pjmedia.com/jchristianadams/2023/04/11/meet-partisan-trump-prosecutor-matthew-colangelo-n1686386

Fortunately, a three-judge panel --- which included then-Judge Brett Kavanaugh --- ruled unanimously that Coangelo was wrong about South Carolina’s voter ID law and said the ‘Justice’ Department had to reimburse the state over $54,000 for legal costs stemming from his attempt to block their election integrity law.  (Sadly, by law that was the only recoverable part of their total legal bill of $3.5 million.)  So this is the attorney chosen by Bragg to work the Trump case.

https://www.reuters.com/article/usa-campaign-south-carolina-idCNL1E8LAA6Z20121010

Speaking of the Biden White House’s involvement in activities they deny, do you recall our recent report that one of Hunter’s business associates has been to the White House 12 times?  Well, it turns out that records show Hunter’s associates visited the White House over 80 times while Joe was VP.  Isn’t it funny how, as bad as an initial story might look, it almost always turns out to be even worse?

Details here.  You know, I hardly think any comment is even necessary at this point.

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/hunter-bidens-business-partners-assistants-visited-white-house-80-times-when-biden-vp

And now that Twitter has been taken over by Elon Musk, dozens of former federal agents working there have headed for the hills.  As the DAILY CALLER reports, at the time Musk started moving to acquire the company and in the months after, 28 former FBI, DOJ, CIA and DHS (Department of Homeland Security) executives saw the writing on the wall and skipped out, according to a search on LinkedIn.  This group includes our friend James Baker, known for his role in suppressing the Hunter Biden laptop story.  Other federal spooks who left the social media company had been working as Twitter’s “embedded security manager,” “director of strategy and initiatives,” “senior analyst of global risk intelligence” (our favorite), “senior corporate security analyst,” “senior director for trust and safety organization,” “deputy general counsel and vice president” (that was Baker), “senior staff technical program manager,” “head of corporate security,” and more.

Maybe they went to Google and Facebook.  But Twitter hasn’t quite rid itself of all those government connections, at least according to the LinkedIn search that also shows nine former FBI agents still working there.  Each had been with the Bureau for over 15 years before getting hired at Twitter.  So Musk might have more housecleaning left to do.  When the DAILY CALLER contacted Twitter for comment, they got the company’s automatic reply:  a poop emoji.

https://dailycaller.com/2023/04/10/former-feds-fled-twitter-around-elon-musk-takeover

Finally, this leads us to Margot Cleveland’s new column, “Government is Marketing Censorship Tools to Big Tech to Gag Conservatives.”  This is about more of the dirty work uncovered at the State Department’s Global Engagement Center, using our tax dollars to silence conservative voices---er, I mean, “counter disinformation.”

The GEC paid for government employees to go to Big Tech with “companies, technology and tools” available on the “Disinfo Cloud” to help them censor online speech.

This information was found in a couple of paragraphs buried in the 164-page report from the lawsuit brought by the attorneys general of Louisiana and Missouri and several other plaintiffs against the Biden administration.  That lawsuit has done just about as much as the “Twitter Files” to show how government has functioned in the censorship business.

Right on the State Department website, Disinfo Cloud was touted as a “one-stop shop” to “identify and then test tools that counter propaganda and disinformation.”  And the GEC even hosted infomercials to help private vendors market their censorship software.

It’s hard to know just what all the tools were that were being marketed.  The State Department says that Disinfo Cloud has “been retired as [a] GEC-sponsored effort, and the DisinfoCloud.com website has been shuttered.  But she does have examples of the tools and how they were used in practice.   We’ve previously brought you what was known about the Global Engagement Center and the private Global Engagement Index --- which created that “blacklist” for advertisers and put us on it --- but, as Cleveland reports, this scandal “far surpasses” that.  Not only was the government funding censorship research, but it was actively marketing the technology to private companies.

As she says, “The State Department isn’t skirting the First Amendment.  It’s driving a stake through its heart.”  Read this and be very angry.  Sometimes it’s good to go away mad.
