With so much in the news every day, it’s easy for something earth-shaking to be overlooked, even for those of us not tied to the mainstream media narrative.  On Thursday, I wrote about a breaking story uncovered by Paul Sperry of Real Clear Investigations about the way the FBI dealt with those Hillary emails found (along with lots of porn) on the laptop of Anthony Weiner, former husband of Hillary aide and confidante Huma Abedin, in the months before the 2016 election.  But the story, outrageous as it was, didn’t seem to get traction until Jason Chaffetz did a segment on it for the Laura Ingraham show Thursday night.

Ever since Donald Trump shocked the Democrats by winning in November of 2016, Democrats have espoused a theory that then-FBI Director James Comey hurt Hillary’s chances with the October timing of his “re-opening” of that investigation.  (Of course, they never mention that she wouldn’t have even been a candidate by then if Comey had made her do the perp-walk back in July, but I digress.)  The actual story surrounding those emails is much more insidious.  And it’s no theory.

Commentary continues below advertisement

These new findings are so important, and reflect so badly on Comey and the FBI’s kid-glove treatment of then-candidate Hillary, that I’d rather leave the discussion of porn-star payoffs and plea-bargaining sleazebag lawyers for another time.

As told to Chaffetz by Sperry, the vast majority of Hillary’s State Department emails discovered on Weiner’s nasty laptop were never examined.  (Chaffetz happens to have been the one who received Comey’s October 2016 letter about those emails.)  Comey’s claim that the FBI had individually examined hundreds of thousands of emails (“all of the communications”) for classified information and incriminating evidence was wildly untrue --- in reality, they looked at only about 3,000 out of almost 700,000.  And just how did the FBI decide which 3,000 to look at?  Was it random, with agents checking the first 3,000 they came to?  Why, no, they were hand-picked by the head of the “MYE” (Mid-Year Exam)  investigation...Peter Strzok.

And, case closed.

According to Sperry, the story Comey gave Congress was that some miraculous breakthrough in technology had made it possible for the FBI to look through all those thousands of emails, and they worked “night after night after night” until they got it done.  That story did not check out; as it happened, a technical glitch thwarted their effort to process the bulk of the emails.  (All together now:  “Awwwww!!”)  Strzok and a couple of other investigators ordered in some pizza and went through a relatively tiny number of emails for 12 hours before calling it a night.  But, hey, the FBI just COULDN’T look at every single email, with the election coming up and all.  They didn’t have enough time!  What else could they do?  They just HAD to put the case to bed before Hillary was elect---I mean, before the election.

Okay, then, so why didn’t Comey admit to Congress that they had done such a half-arsed job?  He made it seem, falsely, as though Hillary’s “mid-year exam” had been comprehensive and that she’d passed.  They all get an “incomplete” on this exam, and an “F” overall.

Sperry points out that all this email evidence is still relevant, as the investigation into the Clinton Foundation is ongoing.  But he sees this story as one more example of politicization at the FBI, and he calls for an outside independent prosecutor to go through everything and see if agents were trying to protect Hillary by covering up material evidence.  Chaffetz concurs, saying the inspector general, Attorney General Sessions and potentially a second special counsel should take up this case.

A more concise version of Sperry’s story appears at the link below, outlining the ways the investigation of Hillary was spectacularly –- and, I believe, intentionally –- botched.  If anyone still doubts that we have a two-tier “justice” system, just read this.  And Hillary...well, she might want to grab a few bottles of chardonnay, take a long walk far into the Chappaqua woods and hide there until the statute of limitations runs out.

I believe that if you are not Establishment in our country the unwritten rule is you have no right to seek to apply for the highest office in the country! The “Elites” are trying to prove this everyday. President Trump has defied them by daring to go against what “they” want. People like us need to know our place! If you believe I think that I have a Bridge I can sell you! The Constitution is being trampled on everyday and the President has to endure a Witch Hunt while he tries to go about the business of governing our country and Making America Great Again. I don’t know how he does it but I wish he could serve at least 3 terms rather than 2. We common folk love him and won’t turn on him. We’re the Patriotic citizens of the US! Former President Obama’s creed was to destroy our country with Socialism then Dictatorship! He didn’t do anything for the Forgotten Man. He hardly worked but he did squander America’s wealth as he destroyed our standing in the world. To state that I am totally disgusted with what’s going on to destroy our Duly elected President is an understatement. I am saddened by what Obama has done to our country. All I can say is God Bless America!
Thank God for giving us a good man to right the ship.

Look everyone would love to know the truth about Hillary's emails but this look pretty weak. "As told to Chaffetz by Sperry.."? Is there any real proof or is everyone just expected take Republican's word? Here's another question. For those who assume that the FBI had bias perhaps they can also assume some agents were biased for Trump too? It appears the NY FBI office clued Rudy in a bit early that the HRC investigation was being reopened. Is it not reasonable to think there'd be a good chance some of these damaging emails would have been leaked by now?

I am a Senior Chief Radioman retired from the United States Navy. I served my country’s navy proud, and I handled many classified documents long before email was the main media pipeline that made a Radioman’s job easier, but in the navy we had secure servers to pass our Navy’s classified documents through as technology advanced. However, if we miss-handled any classified information, you could expect severe punishment, and usually a lengthy training week to the rest of Radiomen to make sure this didn’t happened again! I would expect the same would happen in our United Stated Government, but it didn’t, and it appears the FBI covered it up, or didn’t care! I am ashamed to be even called an American along side the likes of Hilliary and the FBI. We have allowed sloppiness to creep into the ranks of our Nation’s trusted investigative organization. We used to go through great lengths to screen individuals before trusting them with our nation’s highly sensitive information, we educated them on how to protect our secure networks, but now we have people in office who scream back “what does it matter?” Well, the American people...our Armed Forces...and us retired Navy chiefs are screaming “Where’s the Justice?”

The emails weren't just about exposing Hillary. I'm sure that they contain very damaging information involving many characters including Obama, Clapper, Brennan, Yates, Rice, McCain, Jarrett and the rest of the thugs running our federal government. This is why they 'allowed' Hillary to destroy evidence. They weren't doing this for Hillary, they did it to cover their own tracks. They were so sure that all of their evil deeds would never see the light of day, they were sloppy which is also why they're so desperate to sink our President.

It is definitely time for a special console to be assigned to revealing the corruption with the Democrats. There was so much game playing before the election that it has to be brought out. The dirty players have to be revealed for what they are.

Why doesn't president Trump get a special counsel appointed to look into Hillary Clinton, her charity ( slush fund ) uranium one and the destroyed emails , her acts at the state dept. etc. The best defense is a good offense.

You raise a point about "statute of limitations" which I've been wondering about. What are the statutory limitations (time/date) on the various items that I believe Hillary (& cover-up-Dems) are guilty of, but have been "swept under the rug?" That would include Benghazi, sale of uranium to USSR, email-gate, etc.? I have thought that much of the "not responding" and "push it off until later" responses are attempts to buy time until such limitations cover them ("them", being not only Hillary but the Deep State; the civil service become un-civil; the Executive bureaucrats run amok; my fellow government servants being overrun/corrupted/misdirected and abused by political appointees). Gov Mike: Ever since that story was out about the FBI on the tarmac in Phoenix during the meeting between Bill Clinton and Loretta Lynch aboard the aircraft she was on and telling anyone walking about to turn off their cell phones, no pictures, etc.---weeks before the election----I knew that we were dealing with a tainted DOJ.

Amen to Mr. Trokey! As Christians we should heed Jesus' prophecy of the things to come before "THE END". We can see those things He foretold and know that God is still in his HOly Temple. We must turn to HIM, not away!

    1. The only thing important in her emails would be Benjazi and leads to Kaddaffi's 140 tons of missing gold he planned to to start the African World Bank with under the dinar?
    2. Stevenson was thrown to his death by her because he complained about missiles being stored in his embassy intended for the desmemberment of the "Arab Spring" going to paid anti-spring insurgents! The cell phone video of the two corporals leaving through safe passage through the insurgents laden with missiles that were taken by the paid-for insurgents on their cell phone video was widely dispersed on our Internet of truth, then quickly taken off?
    3. All this barage about porn and disgraceful fake news is only a diversion to subvert the "Pentecost Spirit of Truth" and the corrupt world of "Temple Money Changers!"

Why did no one ever get in trouble for classified info on Weiners P.C. and Hillary not get in trouble for turning over only about 30,000 emails when there were evidently 650,000+. Also, can't Pres Trump appoint a third in charge (without congressional approval) at DOJ then fire Sessions and Rosenstein, then his selected 3rd in charge would be the acting AG until he were to get one thru congress. even if it ends up being the current acting AG he previously appointed. (Like what happened at the VA).

I really and truly believe you are exactly right. The FBI botched the Clinton deal. Its as if there are two sets of rules. We all know Clinton has the money to pay off these thugs posing as the FBI. What about Bill meeting Lynch on the tarmac. I think she was promised SOMETHING, if she let Hillary slide out of this mess.If a normal citizen was to do quarter of what Hillary is accused of ,the would never see daylight again. As a voter,I am glad Trump won.People are tired of seeing people like Hillary getting by and out of the awful things she has done. And now ,no matter what Trump does they treat him like dirt.Hes the president for gosh sakes.Give him a chance to turn this country around. I truly believe Trump won because thats the way GOD wanted it.Period.Thank you.

I think that the blame for how the government is these days goes also to those RINO's who are no more conservative than hilary or obama. For years, I have screamed at news where the Republicans capitulated time and time again to the threats of Democrats--like, they are afraid to lose their good buddy with them status? One of the laments I have heard about President Trump is--he doesn't know "how it's done" in Washington--meaning good ol' boy politics. I think he does, and I, for one, am glad he isn't going to wallow in the swamp with them. There is someone in the White House now, it would be a good time for the Republicans to grow their backbones and stand up for conservativism, for the people, instead of for the politicians. But, no, too many of them are also po'd that a non-politician sits in the White House---no matter it was We, the People who put him there. Another thing I hear is--this is the way it has always been done. I learned a long time ago, just because we always did it that way doesn't make it good, or even right.

The case against Hillery should be opened again with a nonpartisan agent investigating. As far as the statements made against Vice President Pence are ridiculous. President Trump won the election because people are sick & tired of politicians becoming rich
while in office off of the special interest lining the politicians pockets & the corruption. Whatever happened to politicians that did the job they were elected to do.

I have always believed, since I was old enough to think of such things, that there were laws and then there were laws and it depended totally on what your last name was. I lived with it in the little town I was raised in for years. Even though Gods word says not to be a respecter of people, human beings for the most part are prone to that fallacy. It's sad, really, that we give so much deference to people who hold what our perception of power and money is. We just can't shake it. I am ashamed we as a country have given ourselves over to the powers that be and allowed ourselves to such corruption. May God forgive us of turning from Him to such a disaster.

Kudos to Mr. Chaffetz. If only more GOP congressmen and senators were as determined to find and reveal the whole truth, we might actually see some people indicted for real crimes! This is the time for ALL Republicans to band together and fight....we've all been waiting for 2 years now and we want to see some of these corrupt criminals led away in handcuffs and locked up!

I usually read your newsletter so I can know honestly what is going on with the political scene. Keep up the good reporting! P.S. In 2004 while a grad student at ULR in the Rehabilitation for the Blind program, I was housed in Huckabee Hall at the Arkansas School for the Blind. I remember you came for a visit.

"Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."
    - Philippians 4:6-7
This is a perfect example of why the KJV shouldn't be used for your Biblical quotes. In the good old days (1600s), "Be careful for nothing" meant, "don't worry, be happy" but now means, "be a slob". Suggest you use another version.
