This could turn into the biggest political scandal of the decade, if the media actually deign to cover it. According to new reports by The Hill and the Circa news site, there was collusion between Russian interests and a leading US Presidential candidate, but it wasn’t Donald Trump. The Hill reveals that a controversial decision by the Obama Administration, okayed by then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, to sell 20% of America’s uranium supply to the Russian state-owned company Rosatom came despite an FBI investigation at the time uncovering “substantial evidence that Russian nuclear industry officials were engaged in bribery, kickbacks, extortion and money laundering designed to grow Vladimir Putin’s atomic energy business inside the United States.”
You can read more about the report here.
The Senate Judiciary Committee has already launched a probe into the newly revealed information and alleged cover-up.
And this New York Post editorial recaps the story, including the money trail of $145 million flowing into the Clinton Foundation and a $500,000 speaking fee to Bill Clinton. This also notes that in charge of the FBI at the time was Robert Mueller, who has been looking under every couch cushion and ash tray in the White House for evidence of Russian collusion by Trump's people, yet never bothered to mention this investigation.
Greg Jarrett of Fox News said that under federal law, Mueller should be forced to step down immediately from his special prosecutor role, since he is hopelessly compromised. But then, he was required by federal law to step down for being hopelessly compromised after we learned that his star witness, James Comey, was also his best pal and protégé, and we’re still waiting for him to comply with that law. Or more to the point, we’re still waiting for anyone in a position of authority in Washington to make him comply with the law. Complying with federal law seems to be something that applies only to Republicans these days.
