President Trump's health

January 17, 2018

You know those bad “Saturday Night Live” sketches that are so dumb and repetitive that they seem to drag on for nearly an hour? Well, yesterday’s press conference where crushed reporters kept trying to come up with any question for White House physician Dr. Ronny Jackson that would salvage their hopes of President Trump being either mentally incompetent or at death’s door was like one of those bad, repetitive “SNL” sketches, except it really did go on for nearly an hour. The only other difference between that and a bad “SNL” sketch is that the press conference actually was funny. (Some highlights at the link for those with limited time and patience.)

Those poor, hyper-partisan reporters had been watching their precious “Trump is going to be impeached for Russian collusion” narrative implode in slow motion for the past few months. And since narratives are much more important in today’s “journalism” than facts, they’d transferred all their hopes for torpedoing Trump to a new concocted narrative that he could be impeached for suffering early-onset dementia.

Imagine how crushing it must have been to them, first for Trump to give an impromptu speech on farm policy followed by a master class in how to conduct a Congressional meeting on live TV, only to be followed by his doctor presenting the results of his physical, and they were that Trump was telling the truth: he really is in excellent health, physically and mentally – probably more so than they. They were as shocked as if Charlie Sheen’s doctor had announced that he really did have tiger’s blood. In fact, the doctor said, Trump has such “incredibly good genes” that if he’d just exercise more and eat better, he might live to 200. The very thought of Trump living 200 years must have sent some reporters running to their own doctors to beg for antidepressants.

You could practically see them dying inside a little when the doctor announced that Trump not only took a cognitive test, he aced it 30 questions out of 30. Much of being a leftist is based on the smug assumption that anyone who disagrees with you must be either stupid, evil or mentally deranged (hence communist regimes’ tendency to lock their critics away in “mental asylums.”) Some of the stunned reporters had to be wondering if they could have made a perfect score on the mental test – and Donald Trump scoring higher than they did would shake their belief systems and turn their entire world view inside out.

And so, in panic, they pelted the poor doctor with one increasingly desperate question after another, the kind of intrusive, leading questions they never would’ve asked about Clinton’s or Obama’s health: Does Trump watch too much TV? Is he eating too many scoops of ice cream? Could we impeach him for being an evil robot from the future? Okay, I made that last one up, but it’s not much more ridiculous than the real questions the poor doctor suffered through with almost superhuman (Trumpian?) patience.

If these people had any grasp of reality, they wouldn’t be so shocked. As Eric Trump noted, and I can personally verify, on the campaign trail, Trump worked 17-hour days, often forcing some of those same reporters who are half his age to guzzle Red Bull just to keep up with him. But then, if they had any grasp of reality, they wouldn’t be swallowing every anonymous rumor or uninformed quack medical diagnosis that makes Trump look bad.

Maybe they should all take that same cognitive test Trump took. I wonder if it detects early-onset Trump Derangement Syndrome?

I was really entertained by the press asking all the questions of the doctor as if the doctor could not possibly be telling the truth or that his examination was fundamentally flawed. At what point will the press start acting like real journalist, not that they should not have asked questions, but ask questions that would are not so pointedly bias in their nature.

That said, I know how tall I am and how much I weigh, so at 239 pounds the president must have very skinny legs.

Some times I am at a loss for words when voicing my opinion about the disrespect the media, Democrats, some Republicans and America's have shown not only to our President but those who chose him to lead us. It's hard to drain a swamp when the "swamp creatures" are blocking the drain hole! Most of what I would say, would be preaching to the choir. I don't agree with his 36% approval rate they taut in the media. My wish would be that each person that still supports him, would write a letter, not an e-mail, and send them in mass on a certain date to arrive via USPS with OUR thoughts. I've written my congressman and have yet to receive a response. Simply, it's hard for me to believe that it is such a contest between the Democrats and Republicans each wanting recognition for passing laws that DO NOT benefit the whole of our country. It's like a verbal argument between kids with whose dad is the strongest/smartest or whose mom is the prettiest.

The next time President Trump has to undergo a physical exam, and volunteers to also undergo a mental test, I hope he will use that situation to do some negotiations - the old "I will do it if you (every member of Congress) will do it."
Every single member of Congress should be given the SAME mental text, and we will see whose BRAIN and MENTAL HEALTH is "bigger" !

If the members in Congress and the media worked as hard at working WITH President Trump as they do working against him and writing negative narrative about him, MAGA would be accomplished in record time.

Right On! Your commentary was exactly what I was thinking when I watched it--if SNL does not do a sketch based on that media performance, they will have given over the comedic forum to the media. Glad President Trump's health is such a conundrum for those 'looks-ism elites.' They should all have to have their medical information, weight, measurements, tests, supplements, etc. blasted out to the electorate--and yes, each one must take the 30 point cognitive test (at the very least!)

First congratulations on your new show. We love it and never miss an episode. I think in listening to Nancy Pelosi that she better have a cognitive test of her own. She should be given an award for a performance unbecoming to a congress person. Wow! The doggy poop statement about the gov. shut down bill is the worse. I can not understand what on earth the problem is with 6 yrs. of healthcare for kids, and putting DACA off since the cut off isn't till March. Question for you- if all these adult children are successful, mostly college grads why can't they at least pay to stay legally.

It is not surprising that enraged leftists, as they see the dismantling of parts of the statist superstructure they have for years been constructing, would seize on any ploy, no matter how ridiculous or morally compromised, to claw back their position of power. Ideology "trumps" reason and ethics. I retired early from my job as a clinical psychologist, in large part because I was utterly sickened by the politicization of the profession. Poorly designed and interpreted research was published to advance the "Progressive" agenda, lending a patina of respectability to conclusions that were engineered to persuade and guide policy, not to advance knowledge. We have lately seen some of these leftists in the mental health professions, as well as medical doctors such as Sanjay Gupta, violate professional codes of ethics by proffering armchair diagnoses and agitating for removal of duly elected officials. As our President would say, "Sad."

I am sick and tired of the media and the Democrats going after our president. They need to stop fighting him and start supporting him. Every day the Democrats keep digging for dirty things on President Trump cost the taxpayers millions of dollars.
All that money the Democrats have costed the United States citizens on this witchhunt could have been used in better manner and now they are backing illegal immigrants over the United States citizens that pay their wages. They would rather see our military shutdown along with other things desperately needed for this country. I am now seeing where conservatives in California are trying to secede from California and start their own state. That should show California that not all their voters and working citizens I agree with Gov. Brown and the mayors of the sanctuary cities.
Thank you very much for having this post and let me air some of my frustration.

I watched the whole presser and then watched Melissa Francis read some of the questions and her co-host almost fell off his chair laughing and I think the crew was having trouble not laughing. And it was stupidly funny. "Does the president wear dentures?" Yikes. Unless I missed it the only question they didn't ask was how his BMs were. It made that press corp look like idiots. I assume they became journalists instead of doctors because they couldn't hack bio-chem or o-chem. OK I got a C- in O-Chem.

And I think your daughter is the best! They way she handles those jokers is a joy to see. I have no doubt that you're so proud of her your buttons are going to pop. Good Job dad. (and mom)

I am proudly a product of the 60’s. I attended college in what was then a very rural part of eastern North Carolina. As a college student, I was very involved in both the Civil Rights and anti-war movements along with many of my “hippie” friends.
Socially I dated (and ultimately married) a local girl, and so was exposed to much of the local Southern culture. At that point in time racism was highly prevalent in the South, and “them d*** hippies” were the object of scorn.
I am absolutely astounded by the similarities between the blind, unforgiving, race-baiting ignorance of the folks I protested against endlessly at that time in my life and the absurd unforgiving generalizations, unproven accusations, intolerant claims being made by the “elite” haters of this era. My “liberal” friends sound “progressively” more and more like the Southern contingent that spent hours and hours endlessly belaboring their pointless points about the differences between themselves and the “inferior” folk that they constantly criticized.
Isn’t it time that we stop focusing on differences and begin to find similarities? Must we re-live that ugly era of sometimes violent social protest or have we matured enough as a people to put bullying and prejudice behind us and move on to a place where we can celebrate our differences and with open arms embrace those whose opinions may differ from ours? Can we as a people learn to understand the meaning of the word “tolerance?”

I can only say that I would hope some Ca. citizens had enough sense to want to get away from the crazy ones along the coast and actors who think way more of themselves than 90% of Americans. What makes them think anyone listens to them anyhow? You and your daughter are doing great Gov. Keep up the good work. I pray God continues to use both of you for His glory.

I really appreciate your candor and honesty and most of all your sense of humor. I know you need to have one in politics. About the wall, I am so sick of hearing the Democrats yammer about it. I have no doubt that Mexico will pay for that wall one way or another, sooner or later. I would like to see it built now. I believe if President Trump would ask his supporters to donate a brick or block in the wall for X amount of dollars, I know they will stand up. I will and I'm poor and on social security. I don't think it will bother his people to do this and get it done. What do you think?
By the way, I love Sarah, she is just so competent, sassy and adorable. I know you and your wife are proud.

Watching MSM is excruciating at best. As far as the President's diet, they treat him like Morgan Spurlock, the guy who starred in the film "Super Size Me" who ate nothing but McDonald's for a month. Of course, they never said a thing when Obama ate fast food and drank beer.

The display by the press during the "inquisition" of President Trump's Doctor was beyond disgusting. They were like hungry vultures, hoping against hope that President Trump had some terminal disease or was well on his way to dementia...anything to get him out of office. Shame on all of them. They are probably jealous that he is in much better health and shape than any of them are!

I'm so grateful there are still a few politicians like yourself around, Mr. Huckabee!
There is so much IDIOCY going on in both Parties these days! In my opinion, this is precisely why the PEOPLE chose to put a Businessman in the Oval Office, instead of a dirty politician, hell bent on destroying our freedom and prosperity and our religious choices. God Bless the good men and women dedicated to doing what's right! Thank the Lord God Almighty for President Trump and his "Steel Nerve " and tenacity to deal with the Grief & Aggravation he is dealt on a daily basis from so many people, who were elected to serve our country and it's citizens, but rather, line their own pockets and those who mean to do us harm!
I hold you all up in my prayers every day! Thank you!

    Governor Huckabee,

I watched the press conference and was totally disheartened, especially when one reporter gave a leading question comparing President Trump’s exercise with Obama good physical condition. Did one of those reporters ever question Obama’s use of alcohol, tobacco or drugs, never. I wished the good Doctor would have responded with some questions for them. The questions asked were truly challenging the Doctor’s integrity.

Mike, I watched that fiasco live, and I agree with you 100%. The media have destroyed any hope of ever having credibility. We only watch FOX and OANN TV and do not pay for a newspaper (we do get a free weekly that is not ultra liberal) because we do not want to support the liberal elite reporters and their ilk.) Although I am not a doctor, and certainly not a lame stream media reporter, I thought Trump looked pretty healthy. The stories of his 17 hour days convinced me of his physical health, and watching him at the Farm Bureau convinced me of his mental acuity. I knew that Trump was smart and in possession of his full brain capacity as I have seen him save the country and its economy. I am pleased that Trump trumped the media and I got to see it live. Good Job Trump!

    Dear Mr. Huckabee,
Your assessment with all these insensitive, crazy, toxic rhetoric among the mainstream media, liberals, Democrats, progressive and that does not exclude anti- Trumper Republicans and the deep state is so shameful to even think about it. What has happened to our beloved country? These above mentioned groups of people are running scared and they know it. The government is so corrupt and treasonous that the American people lose their trust and confidence in adhering their oath to protect the American people and the country. Now we have a president who vows to enforce the laws and rebuild our country that has been broken for centuries and these idiots are running scared because they are all now exposed and justice will prevail after all. The American people must defend and help our President to successfully implement the laws and follow the people agenda as promised.

I am continually amazed at the total lack of respect for the position of the President of the United States. I did not respect or like President Obama. But I never called him names or acted the way the left continues to behave. Reporters - read the definition of news and a news reporter. Get over yourselves. The candidate you wanted LOST. Move on - I am sick of it. And the thought that some in out government will not even attend the State of the Union. Can you imagine if anyone had done that during the Obama years? Back then I just did not turn on the TV. I am SO thankful God is in control and protecting our President

    Hi Mike,
I hope you really do read these...

When are they going to stop patch-quilting H-1B to make it even more un-readable, and easy to hide the fact that is only getting worse? No layman can read the law as is, due to the process of chain-bill-writing(revision of revision of revision), and it is riddled with absolute garbage and loopholes designed to make it completely ineffective, which was the intent all along.. it is the biggest bi-partisan magic show scam ever, and needs to be CANCELLED completely.

The new idea of merit based immigration is to add even more misery and suffering to the IT sector, where Indians will now have an open license to take the remaining jobs in our sector. There are at least 750k Indians (including spouses, thanks to Obama) in the IT contracting sector, and it has all but wiped out what used to be a decent living for many American Software Engineers and testers (testers have been replaced by the spouses of the H-1Bs). It has also completely eroded mine (and others) faith in our Congress, since I believe there has been much graft exchanged here, and that the entire base, both sides, is corrupt. How can Durbin (who is co-sponsoring the latest H-1B changes), simultaneously support the Dreamers? That makes no sense what-so-ever. And how could anyone trust what he puts in the H-1B bill going forward?

As a contract engineer for the last 30 years, I am a 21st century migrant worker in my own country. Problem is, so is every H-1B body out there. Has anyone ever considered how absurd it is that 500k legal H-1B bodies have been dumped into a SINGLE industry and decimated all of the American Engineers in that field (most notably contract engineers). I don't see new American entries into the field anymore, because there is no competition with respect to wages. We have handed IT to the Indians ($200 billion for just H-1B).. completely. Just visit ANY IT DEPARTMENT in ANY company, and you will see one predominant factor .. TATA, Infosys, Cognizant, WiPro, etc. These companies have cornered all the contract work in the US, and unfairly dominated the business. H-1B shouldn't even be used for contract bodies, since it automatically displaces an American. This is exactly the same thing that happens when you dump Chips into a hardware marketplace. Don't the anti-trust laws protect us from such dumping of bodies, and rates? This has been going on for 20 years (since Clinton rode on the back of an Indian elephant, and Hillary welcomed the TATA CEO to their new headquarters in New York). Some say we are just sore losers and have lost our skill-sets. Contrary to that, the survivors have had to sharpen their skills to a fine point in order to survive.

The mainstream press is only now admitting how many H-1Bs are actually in country.. https://www.yahoo.com/finance/m/ed3e97fe-3c85-3c7c-a5a6-c909e6bb8b28/ss_h-1b%3A-nearly-three-quarters.html .. but they use it as an argument to say how dependent these companies have become.. sure.. because they wiped out GOOD AMERICAN Engineers in the process of swamping the boat. And since it was in one field, they took advantage of the geographical dispersion of the votes in that sector, knowing it would not hurt their political positions. This suggest a corrupt underpinning, with "campaign donations" going to the cooperating politicians (nothing new to Indian businessmen).

I'm sure you are perfectly aware of these points, but I sure would like to more copy on this topic. President Trump promised he would do something about this issue, but so far all I see is glad-handed back-patting with the very cronies who made H-1B the horror show that it is today. My vote in the next election will hinge on what happens next with the H-1B program, and I'm sure others feel the same way.

    .. Thanks for your time.

How can reporters be so dumb? They are doing everything to make President Trump look bad. He is the best thing to happen for America, if they and the other sorry republicans would work with him America would be so much better off.

    Governor,
Thanks for all you do. Your articles are great. Because all those reporters made absolute fools of themselves I am confident that as more people see these clips on even the fake news networks, more and more people will wake up and see things for what they really are. It will be interesting to see if any of these reporters get the axe for their obnoxious, child-like behavior. Keep up the good work.

Mike, could you place a list of the sponsors on the networks that rant the most lies like CNN, NBC, ABC, MSNBC etc?
Also would you reprimand the Republican Congress, both House and Senate, for not taking up for Ms. Kristen Nelson when she was so violently attacked by Cory Booker. As a senator, and Mitch McConnell, being the Senate Chief, should limit anything he is given. I think Booker showed his rear end and how racist he is. God I am tired of the weakness of the Republicans and how scared they are of the Democrats. Give them some backbone, Mike.
    Thanks, Roland Revis

Re: Media idiocy and attacks. Adage dating, I think, from WWII bomber pilots: "If you're taking flak, you know you're over the target."

Watching those reporters badger that poor doctor made me think of youth club basketball. Where desperate, underskilled coaches would make spectacles of themselves trying to win a ballgame. Their desperation to win clouded their judgement and prohibited them from rational thought. I wish for those reporters the same wish I had for those coaches, to watch the recordings and see their behavior from a different perspective. But then, they would probably just blame the camera operator and not accept the obvious truth. Their sole focus "to win" is distorting their ability to think and reason.

Oh, Governor, I was howling!!! I enjoy humor but have not been accused by my family of out right hilarity. The only down point to this wonderfully funny SNL skit [which I don't watch] is their show of disrespect and bad manners. These people actually wish or hope for an illness and the immediate demise of our wonderful President just to remove him from office. Sad! I was not an Obama fan and I felt he was destroying our Republic from the inside out, but never wished an illness on him. Shame on our media!!! God help us. God Bless our America, our Republic with long life.

The liberal democrats and liberal media are SO mad because Hillary lost that they are trying every way to get Trump impeached! My opinion of all I hear is that there was a lot of corruption in Obama's administration in the FBI, DOJ, and White House with Valerie Jarret that they are afraid of what this new administration will find!!! I believe they were hoping to keep it HIDDEN if Hillary won. Thank the Lord God helped us elect Donald Trump!!!!

The actions of the majority of news media in this country over the past two years has made me very embarrassed to tell anyone that I was once a member of that news media. When I was a newspaper reporter/photographer through my exit as a Bureau Chief (went into public relations) HONEST REPORTING was mandate......not a choice to appease a single interest.
Our news media, with few exceptions, has no pride in honest truthful reporting.......or at least does not prove they are honest (without special interest control) telling things the way they really are.

Our President has a brilliant sense of humor; issuing his Fake News Awards had me giggling!
The lack of intellect in many of the press at Sarah’s news conferences is amazing, and I watch them as often as I can!
