Hopeful sign

Saturday, school board elections were held in four suburban school districts around Fort Worth, Texas. There were ten seats. Candidates backed by a conservative parents’ organization that opposes racist Critical Race Theory and other politicized indoctrination of children won all 10 races and ousted three incumbents.

https://redstate.com/streiff/2022/05/08/conservative-parents-sweep-texas-school-board-elections-on-a-theme-of-transparency-no-masks-and-no-crt-in-the-classroom-n561755

I think that maybe Americans have finally woken up to the horrible damage that can be wrought when voters ignore local races. That leaves them open for leftists to move in like termites and bring down the whole structure. Whether it’s school boards filling kids’ heads with anti-American propaganda or DA’s filling the streets with criminals, those “small” local races that can cause big problems if the wrong people win due to low turnout and voter disinterest. It’s great to see that voters have finally realized where the termites are getting in, and they’re plugging up the entry points.

Soros gets involved

If you live in a city where the prosecutor’s election was backed by money from George Soros or one of his shady PACs, then there’s a good chance crime is running rampant and your standard of living and personal safety have taken a nosedive. Soros is notorious for backing open borders and empty prisons. It’s why there’s now a nationwide movement to “Recall every Soros-backed prosecutor.” But there is one way in which you can avoid all that pain and trouble: Don’t elect anyone backed by George Soros to any office in the first place!

To help you with that, here are two stories to read and remember:

1. Attention, Georgia voters: Soros has donated $1 million to elect Stacey Abrams to be your Governor.

https://hotair.com/karen-townsend/2022/05/07/billionaire-george-soros-dumps-1m-into-stacey-abrams-campaign-n467726

2. Attention, fellow Arkansans: A PAC funded exclusively by George Soros has spent $100,000 so far promoting the election of Alicia Walton as prosecutor of Perry and Pulaski Counties (Little Rock is in Pulaski County.)

https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/policy/courts/soros-floods-cash-into-arkansas-prosecutor-race

Walton says she wants to empower victims, but she also says a lot of other things that Soros-backed DA’s have said, like that she wants to “dismantle the school to prison pipeline,” “provide more diversionary programs for those with mental health and substance abuse challenges,” and “provide a pathway for offenders to seek redemption.” All well and good, but if they want redemption, they should go to church. And too often, promises of "diversion programs" have resulted in simply diverting offenders from jail right back into the streets to prey on the public again and again.

As the Washington Examiner notes, “Soros has contributed more than $29 million in support of over 20 liberal district attorneys since 2016, according to the Capital Research Center. Many of the prosecutors who won their elections thanks in part to contributions by Soros have presided over significant crime waves in their cities after assuming office.”

I and many others worked too hard to help make Little Rock a safe and beautiful city. I don’t want it to turn into the Los Angeles of Arkansas. So here’s an easy rule of thumb for voters:

Think of the backing of George Soros as being the financial equivalent of the skull and crossbones warning on a bottle of poison.

Esper’s memoir

Former Trump Defense Secretary Mark Esper has an unflattering memoir coming out, and he appeared on “60 Minutes” where his accusations against Trump found an eager audience. But you didn’t really think that Trump would let that pass without comment, did you? Bonus: we learn that, yes, Trump did give him a demeaning nickname.

Pennsylvania polls

There’s been a shift in polling in the Pennsylvania Senate race, where former President Trump’s endorsement of Dr. Oz doesn’t seem to be carrying as much weight as it has for other candidates. This link has more, including a debunking of a false smear against the candidate who seems to be moving up, Kathy Barnette.

Disturbing stories

Alex Parker at Redstate.com has a round-up of disturbing stories that suggest the leaders of many Christian universities are either confused or hostile to the basic tenets of Christianity.

https://redstate.com/alexparker/2022/05/08/christian-university-directs-students-to-islamic-center-allegedly-offers-the-quran-to-praying-students-n561900

How do you become the administrators of a Christian university without ever reading John 14:6? “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” He didn't say you get there by "praying to the great Queer One," who's a "drag queen and trans man."

Changes at Twitter

Elon Musk isn’t just determined to make Twitter free again, he’s also making it interesting again.

https://redstate.com/nick-arama/2022/05/09/elon-lights-up-the-internet-with-tweet-about-dying-under-mysterious-circumstances-n561954

Musk also revealed his plans for Twitter’s future. He plans to quintuple Twitter’s revenues by reducing reliance on advertising and offering a premium Twitter Blue service for $3 a month that he thinks will attract 69 million subscribers by 2025. And while he plans thousands of new hires, mostly in engineering, over the next few years, he also plans to almost immediately fire 1,000 people. If those are the right 1,000 people, then Twitter might be worth $3 a month to me.

The Red State article on fetal development brings up good points, but the real question before SCOTUS is not at what point a fetus becomes viable but can, and should the Federal Court find a place in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights that says, or implies, that this is a Federal decision. Emotion should have no place here. This is not question of the legality of abortion. The Constitution states very explicitly that anything not spelled out as a Federal function is up to the states. We are not a Democracy, we are a Republic made of up of lots of little countries we call states. I can 99.9999% tell you that the Founding Fathers did not even consider abortion.

Are people so stupid that they don’t understand that SCOTUS never legalized abortion but only said that states could not prohibit it up to a certain point. Planned Parenthood would save a lot of money furnishing travel costs to transport
A woman, sorry birthing person, to a state who could fulfill her need.

I strongly believe that this is not about abortion, it is about woman who believe that females have been, and continue to be, victimized by society. Why should women, they ask, not have the same pleasures as men with no consequences? The thing is, whether we like it or not, we were created, evolved, whatever you believe, into two distinct sexes. One can get pregnant, the other cannot. In the perfect world, men would support and protect the woman and help to raise the children they fathered. That was the plan. Women would have a civilizing influence on men, who by nature are more sexually driven. Perhaps that is not fair, especially if you believe that pleasure is what should be our main aim in life. In addition there are quite a few ways of preventing pregnancy. But then that suggests personal responsibility, an anathema to the left. If something unfortunate happens to you, you are a victim and society needs to make it right. Anyone seeing a picture of a fetus past a couple of months of development knows that it is a baby. The protests of the left are simply tantrums of undisciplined spoiled children who want what they want now!

While not a supporter of abortion , except in very exceptional circumstances, I do believe women are still thought of in most of the world as lesser beings than men. Some of this is because of men’s fragile egos, some is long held custom, some is religious, or all of the above. Much is brought on by women themselves, by not acting responsibly and demanding that men do the same, at least in the
Western world. Women have what men want and need, which v can make them quite powerful.
