From Rick:

Governor, I really appreciate your newsletter; it brings some sanity into these dark days for our country. I try to watch, but I keep hearing about feelings and opinions and what someone else said or heard.
I am 63, a retired firefighter and an old Democrat, but I have always looked at all sides of an issue and made up my own mind. It is so hard to do in these times, with so many lies and opinions running the show.
Thank you for watching both sides and keeping us informed, I really do trust your opinion.
Take care and stay sane.

From the Gov:

It's voters like you who may end up saving this republic.  Thank you so much.

After the “impeachment” hearings, I don’t know if my heart can take any more excitement, but I’ll have to try to contain myself while watching another Democratic debate tonight. There are ten candidates (including anti-Trump billionaire Tom Steyer, who must be getting in by paying to rent the venue).  It will be on (surprise!) MSNBC.  So I guess we can assume the questions will be along the lines of “Which of us hates Donald Trump more?"

There is, however, a slight chance that a subject might come up that could make this debate reasonably interesting.  It will depend on the candidates being willing to risk upsetting their lapdog media, so I won’t hold my breath.  But I would love to see somebody bring up the giant oversexed gorilla in the room.

During the House “impeachment” hearings, President Trump did some live tweeting about the “witnesses” who apparently never actually spoke to him.  Here’s a sample:

“I don’t know Vindman. I’ve never heard of him. I don’t know any of these people…”

Ironically, I think virtually all of us could have tweeted the exact same thing, and yet these people think they have a right to decide foreign policy for us all.

It’s an “impeachment” “hearing” based on a “crime” that nobody can prove exists or even is a crime, alleged by a “whistleblower” nobody can name, backed by “witnesses” who weren’t there, offering as “evidence” second- and third-hand accounts of “conversations” they weren’t a part of with President Trump, whom they’ve never met.  And somehow, the only part of that sentence Democrats think should be in quotation marks is “President.”

Here’s an example of why Adam Schiff obviously prefers to question “witnesses” who weren’t actually part of the things they are testifying about.  Witnesses who actually witnessed stuff really blow a hole in his case.

Another example of that: as Rep. John Ratcliffe pointed out, in 3500 pages of transcripts of deadly dull, pointless testimony so far, the word “bribery” appeared precisely one time – and it was said in a description of Joe Biden’s conduct, not Trump’s.

Pennsylvania state Sen. John Yudichak announced that he is leaving the Democratic Party to become an Independent who will caucus with the Republicans.  His reasons (and stop me if you’ve heard this before) are that the Democratic Party has moved too far left and become too intolerant of all but the most purist views.

A Party spokesman said the Democrats were “extremely disappointed” that Yudichak has turned away from their “big tent values,” but Yudichek replied that their “tent is shrinking every day.”  He’s right.  The only way the current Democratic Party resembles a big tent is that it’s full of clowns.

This is just one state senator in a single state, but it’s a key swing state. And if people whose entire political careers are invested in being part of the Democratic Party are so fed up they’re leaving, imagine what might be going through the heads of working Americans who’ve supported them for years, even generations, and are finally waking up to the fact that modern Democratic Party policies are not only a threat to their jobs, paychecks and families' security, but many of the people at the top look down on and despise them.

Maybe Yudichak’s departure is just a single isolated incident. Or maybe it’s like the first small crack that inevitably leads to a dam breaking.

PS – There might be a few cracks starting to form in the US House as well…

It’s no wonder that House Democrats are so eager to protect the Deep State bureaucrats who think they should be in charge of foreign policy instead of the elected President.  Their leader, Nancy Pelosi, just made it clear that she thinks it would be “weak” and “dangerous” to let the voters decide in the upcoming election whether Trump should remain as President or not.

So it’s official: the top House Democratic leader agrees with the Deep Staters that democracy is too important to trust it to the stupid voters.  A good thing to bear in mind the next time you’re voting.

Speaking of dem defections. Phil Gramm left decades ago saying" The democratic party no longer reflects my values as an American" I don't know what happened AFTER he became a Republican but the message was clear. If one can leave and is public about it, will it lead to more? I think so, people are waking up to the leftist insanity.Nancy just openly admitted she hates America and her constituents

Geopoliticaly I believe we are on a path for future diplomatic relations to be in jeopardy and mistrust for many administrations to come. Can any conversation with a American President or other American government official be held in strict confidence? Could a conversation be leaked to adversarial countries?
Domestically this is a dangerous precedent to use impeachment as a tool to remove a political adversary simply because you don't like the policies of a duly elected President. Especially when he is doing what the American Voters elected him to do.
Democrat or Republican we should not stand for this " Impeachment Proceeding ".

Speaking of toxic culture--there's a whole lot of that going on in Congress--mostly from the left, but there are a few skunks in the woodpile on the right (yes, that would be you, romney, among others) that should be removed, fired, recalled, and more importantly, never elected again!!! I think it is ludicrous that an organization can DEMAND the firing and replacement of people in other organizations who don't do their bidding. Not to say NBC has been an example of any kind of virtue--but unless the violet people are wanting to foot the salaries of the executives, it's really not their decision. Just like it's very disappointing to know that Chick-Fil-A capitulated to LBGTetc--then lily-mouthed a lame "explanation" that espoused what they do want to support, as they remove support from 3 organizations who actually work for the education, homelessness and hunger issues.

Kudos to Sen. John Yudichak and any who follow him to get out from under the insanity that the democrat party has become. As an Independent, he can choose to vote however he wants on any issues. Hope his constituents continue to vote for him, if they can't bring themselves to vote for a viable Republican candidate ;)

I'm hoping that pelosi's assessment of American citizens is put out to the American people often---so they know WHO they don't want in office--of course, I don't get to vote in CA. But, wait!!!! I bet I could slip in and vote in the name of some dead person!!!

Love reading your column daily. So sad that democrats have lost their values of the past and have sold their souls to support values that are reprehensible to millions of Americans. God help us all if we don't rise up and reject this move of theirs.

The democratic led news media ran with the story of Amb. Sondlund pointing an accusing finger at Trump. Schiff and his news media pals left out that this was an opinion and not a fact. And the democrats will eat it up like candy because they don't have the ability to think for themselves. Would they like to go to jail for someone else's opinion and then have to prove themselves innocent of that opinion. Glad I left backward fascist years ago when they were entertaining the idea of socialism.

In the eyes of the Leftists, the words impeachment and coup are interchangeable. They are using these faux hearings as a pretext to further their efforts to further the coup they promised from before Trumps swearing in. How is this not evident to any thinking person? What a clever/devious way to bring down your political rivals. They claim Trump was tying investigations in Ukraine to hariming a potential political rival. How the hell is that different from what they are doing with the house investigation. Are they not trying to harm their political rival and using taxpayer funds to do it? There is a huge hoax being perpetrated on America. Maybe there is no way to stop this whole farce until Trump declares martial law and arrests the key players such as Pelosi, Schiff, Nadler and charge them with conducting a coup and treason to overthrow the duly elected (by we the people) President. There inability to accept his legitimacy is no reason to allow what is going on.

A small nit to pick, one of those things that is like nails scratching a blackboard every time I see it in print or hear it. There is no Democratic Party, it's the Democrat Party. There is nothing democratic about the Democrat Party.

The newsletters are great reads, honest, sometimes biting, and always delivered with some humor sprinkled in.

I am conflicted by Statements made by Adam Shitff that Ukraine is a huge allay of the US. If that is really true why did the Obama Administration allow the Communist Country of Russia invade Ukraine without sending lethal weapons to defend itself. Does that sound as if Ukraine is an important allay to the United States and how did the European neighbors help in Ukraine's defense? Shitff witnesses came forward and some how tried to defend the actions of Ukraine one of the most corrupt countries in the world what where they doing? The lifelong Ambassadors not reporting the corruption to the Obama Administration. Are they a part of the corruption? Business as usual while billions of taxpayer money disappears into a black and deep hole and a country is run over by a Communist Country. Now Americans concerns that lifelong Government officials appear to be self serving corrupt and dishonest is exposed; the intentions of being a government official by Americans may start with honest and helpful deeds usually end in dishonesty and corruption as exhibited in this hearing, run by a little fella with Communist aspirations the Dishonest Adam Shitff>

Gov. Huckabee, Thank you for your daily newsletters and reports. You obviously report from what some would say is a conservative bias, however that bias seems to be toward reporting the truth versus the hyperbole that is coming from the "progressive media" and democratic party. I'm sure that if we investigated any individual in politics close enough and long enough we could find some action which they made that would be questionable and would violate someone's sensibilities. I don't believe that is the way our justice system and way of government was conceived by the Founding Fathers. With the moving target of what is politically correct in the socialist leaning lefts eyes fluctuating faster that the supposed speed of alien space craft who can do any action without receiving condemnation. Their values are here today and gone tomorrow. It appears to me that returning to the Judaeo-Christian values that formed this nation is the only true way of bringing things back into the correct order and sanity. Return to the firm foundation that we were built upon.

Nancy Pelosi, Adam Schiff, and the democratic party are a real threat to our country, our democracy, our Constitution, and our values, supported by the evidence of Pelosi's lies to the American people about our democracy and Constitution almost daily and Adam Schiff and the democrats hijacking our House of Representatives to conduct a witch hunt to find a reason to impeach a democratically elected president when he (Schiff) and the democrats have evidence the President did nothing wrong. How do republicans stop the democrats' dangerous assault on our democracy and Constitution NOW before they damage our country even more than they already have?

Governor, great commentary as usual. I too am a retired Firefighter with 40 years of service who at one time was a Democrat. Changed to Republican when they started making sense and the Democrats went full progressive. Have watched a little of the hearings. Have you noticed that many of the Democrats do not seem to understand plain English? Terms like, I think, I believe, In my opinion and more but no one saw or heard first hand. That is not evidence, it is exactly what it is, opinion. Big difference.

Governor, Thank you for your comments everyday. I look forward to them just to see what the sane people believe during this terrible time in our history.
I can only watch about two hours of the Democratic Comedy
show before changing the channel to something interesting and worthwhile of my time.
I cannot believe that the Dems have changed their terminology to include "bribery" in their charges against Trump.
I would suggest that everyone on that committee have accepted bribes and probably on a daily basis. It is my understanding that the politicians in office accept money from Lobbyists in order to receive special favors for their clients!
My only comment for the Republicans is to stand up and fight - we have a long way to go before the election and we must win in order to save our country from disaster. Please assist us in encouraging the Republicans to stand up and fight and fight hard for our rights and somehow eliminate the biggest democratic offenders like Pelosi, Shifty Shiff, Chuckie Shuman and promote my favorite guy, Jim Jordan. If all the Republicans would follow his lead, we would not have to endure these stupid, boring hearings.
Thank you again for your posts each day and please keep them coming!

The Schiff Show has been ridiculous and his running out after the morning session gloating about a witness who later admitted he presumed everything is laughable. Egos and insanity abound in this world of partisanship. Can we reach across the aisle for anything?

Governor, those statements from Pelosi ought to be front and center news right now and for the future. She does not want the informed Americans voting in the next election. She wants to depose our President in some type of coup that she thinks is legal. Probably she is not mentally stable, but nevertheless, she is in a place of power and basically declaring a coup. Please make this clear to the American people.

My thought on the impeachment hearing today---Are these really the people representing the US on the world stage? Gutless whiners with hurt feeling, that don't really understand their jobs.

  • William Taylor

    11/20/2019 10:02 PM

Governor Huckabee, if you are indeed looking at “both sides”, I think you would want to acknowledge that a key reason that the current witnesses have limited to little ‘first hand’ knowledge is that those with “first hand” knowledge have NOT honored subpoenas and/or have taken ‘executive privilege’ as a way of avoiding testimony. This includes Mike Pompeo, Sec of State, Mick Mulvaney, WH Chief of Staff, Rudy Giuliani, Mr Trump’s personal lawyer and others e.g. John Bolton, National Security Head.

I believe the proper term is overthrow, not impeachment. The description of Overthrowing the Government seems to fit exactly with the narrative of what the left is hoping to accomplish.
Don't wish to impart a conspiratorial tone, but the fitting definition is scary.

I am hoping there are many wanting to leave that sinking ship of buffoons although if they turn out to be like Mitt Romney or people like Jefff Flake they might as well stay in the rat nest. No one wants a back shooter on their side. No one likes people like that. How many friends does DeBlaiso and Cuomo from NY have? Last count less than 1%. The House needs to be taken over by Conservatives and the Senate needs a few more real Conservatives added because we also have a few not so trust worthy weenies in the Senate that are self serving instead of Country and its needs.

"Central View," by William Hamilton, J.D., Ph.D.

The Clinton-Ukraine Treaty: Is enforcement impeachable?

The behavior of the Democrat majority in the U.S. House of Representatives with regard to Ukraine deserves some historical context and perspective: In 2012, the international accounting firm Ernst & Young rated Ukraine among the world's three most corrupt nations. By 2017, Ukraine had improved to be only the 9th most corrupt nation.

In 1998, President Clinton and Ukraine signed an anti-crime treaty, providing for cooperation in criminal investigations, to include the taking of testimony, providing documents, and even executing requests for searches and seizures. The treaty is a virtual carte blanche for Ukraine and the U.S. to investigate each other.

Interfering in U.S. elections is a crime. Using U.S. tax dollars to force the firing of a Ukrainian prosecutor is a crime. Both crimes are subject to investigation under the terms of the 1998 anti-crime treaty.

Fast forward to the present: Ukraine's reputation with President Trump was not improved when President Trump learned the Ukrainian government that was in power concurrent with the Obama-Biden Administration tried to get Hillary Clinton elected president.

Recall, when Putin took Crimea away from Ukraine and then began to invade eastern Ukraine, Obama-Biden only sent Ukraine some blankets and food. But, despite his misgivings about Ukrainian corruption, President Trump has already provided Ukraine with some grenade launchers and other lethal weapons.

Now, since the April, 2019, Ukrainian election of anti-corruption President Zelensky, President Trump has shown greater willingness to provide Ukraine with even more lethal weaponry to use against Putin's forces in eastern Ukraine. That, however, has not been enough for the pro-Ukraine Deep Staters in the State Department and within the National Security Council (NSC).

The NSC is chock full of unelected Obama holdovers with advanced degrees. Some, but not all, of them think they should be conducting U.S. foreign policy rather than the elected President of the United States.

That was demonstrated recently when an Army officer shed the normal civilian attire of NSC staffers and donned his Army Blue uniform to go to Capitol Hill to offer his "opinion" about a telephone call between President Trump and President Zelensky.

An active-duty officer wearing his uniform for political purposes is just as reprehensible as retired personnel wearing their uniforms for commercial purposes. While the NSC staffer did take some shrapnel from a roadside bomb in Iraq, he has zero decorations for valor in combat. He is merely a career staff officer and has only earned what those of us who have been decorated for valor in combat call "good conduct" medals.

If you read the official transcript of the July, 2019, telephone conversation between Presidents Trump and Zelensky one can tell President Trump's reference to "Crowd Strike" shows he is still irked about the previous Ukrainian government's efforts to elect Hillary Clinton. Moreover, he wants to find out more about former Vice President Joe Biden's televised bragging about how Biden made the firing of the Ukrainian prosecutor, Viktor Shokin, the quid pro quo for receiving $1 billion in U.S. aid. Under the 1998 U.S.-Ukraine anti-crime treaty, both of those acts are crimes, making them subject to further investigation. Can a U.S president be impeached for doing his duty under a treaty? We report. You decide.

Once again you are able to capture in a few sentences what is really going on in DC (in sort of funny way). Thank you and keep it going for the sake of our country.
