162 to go

Let me be clear: Government and Big Tech are working together to censor conservative views, and because they are I moved my newsletter to Substack.

Because you are a free subscriber to my newsletter, I would like you to consider subscribing to the paid version on Substack.

A Substack subscription-based newsletter allows my team and I to focus on what matters: the writing and the research we do to back up the writing, instead of worrying about censorship, or what Google is saying about me, how they are handling advertising on our website or whether or not my work shows up when you search for it.

To keep the newsletter going, we have setup a monthly goal of identifying 162 new paying subscribers for the month of NOVEMBER.

If you can afford to do so, please subscribe here:

Subscribe to The Morning Edition (substack.com)

To become a paid subscriber of my politics newsletter it is $5 monthly or $36 annually. I email daily and my politics newsletters usually take 10-15 minutes to read. I cover the news of the day and the liberal media. I write about the upcoming elections and dive deep on the Biden scandals. I will also share my opinion of the Trump indictment. I don’t think you will regret reading my newsletter regularly as a paid subscriber, so please consider subscribing today.

With gratitude,

Mike Huckabee

Seems right

The National Christmas Tree that was set to be lighted by President Biden in 48 hours proved to be the perfect reflection of the President: it fell over and may not be salvageable.

Comic Relief:

A group of protesters gathered outside the White House, blaming President Biden for Gazans starving, and announced that they’re going on a hunger strike until there’s a permanent ceasefire. They included “Sex & The City” actress and failed leftist New York gubernatorial candidate, Cynthia Nixon. I congratulate them on coming up with an ingenious way to avoid gaining weight over the holidays.

19 AGs send Biden administration a letter protesting new foster care rule

Nineteen Republican state Attorneys General sent a letter to the Biden Health and Human Services Department, protesting that a proposed new rule for foster care families would violate the Constitution, cripple the foster care system by driving Christian families out, increase states’ child care costs, and harm children by limiting the number of foster homes available.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/gop-ags-blast-biden-admin-for-foster-care-plan-they-say-would-effectively-ban-christians/ar-AA1kEoXJ

The rule would force foster parents to “affirm” the child’s “gender-identity” by using their preferred pronouns, calling them by their chosen names and letting them dress like the sex they identify as, even if it violates their religious beliefs. Many foster care systems depend heavily on individuals and faith-based groups whose religion does not accept this. The AGs say this rule not only directly violates a 2021 Supreme Court ruling that such policies violate religious freedom rights, it fails to solve an alleged problem that the HHS hasn’t even proved exists.

To be fair, based on the evidence so far, this Administration isn’t capable of solving any problems that really do exist.

A jaw-dropping article

This morning’s New York Times has a jaw-dropping article that seeks to convince us that concerns about shoplifting are just overblown conservative misinformation. Why, nationwide, shoplifting is down on average. Americans just have the silly belief that it’s high because it’s spiking in a few places, plus there are those rare, but alarming, videos of mobs cleaning out stores and stores with bare shelves having to put up photos of merchandise that they can’t put out or it will be stolen.

News flash to the Times propagandists: Nobody believes that shoplifting is out of control in red states that weren’t idiotic enough to fire all their cops and let all the criminals out of jail. We know exactly where the shoplifting and other crime is out of control: in cities run by the Party that your paper works every day to help keep in power, including the city where you live.

I’m not going to give clicks to the New York Times, but I will link to this much more informative story from their superior rival, which tells you a lot more about why crime is spiking.

THIS, is the only issue that matters to 24% of Democrats…

Here’s why it’s so important for the RNC to up its game in turning out voters in 2024, and for the pro-life movement to keep fighting the “anti-women’s rights” canard that the left uses to fool women into voting against their own interests. NBC News pollsters asked registered voters if there’s any one issue so important to them that they would base their vote just on that. Twenty-four percent of Democrats said they would base their vote solely on a candidate’s position on abortion.

https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2023/11/27/poll-1-in-4-democrats-single-issue-voters-abortion/

That’s right: with Biden’s wide-open borders letting the US be flooded with illegal immigrants, drugs, criminals and terrorists; with inflation making it necessary to charge groceries on your credit card; and with the world teetering on the brink of World War III, nearly a quarter of Democrats care about only one issue: the “right” to kill babies in the womb up to the moment of birth.

That’s why I won’t even suggest that the solution is to reason with them. They’ve gone beyond the point of rational thinking. Yes, by all means, continue to pray for them and reach out and try to make them understand why abortion is so wrong, how their party leaders are exploiting their fears and lying about the opposition’s positions, and how even the European nations they think we should emulate have restrictions on abortion that are tighter than some red states’. But we’d also better put a lot of effort into voter turnout because if that obsessive, sick mindset is the determining factor in the 2024 election, Heaven help us all.

A New Documentary

I wrote recently about a pile of new evidence (actually not “new,” but previously suppressed) that George Floyd was not killed by asphyxiation but by a combination of drugs, COVID and long-standing major health problems; and that the trial of the police officers was set up to prevent more rioting in Minneapolis. Now, there’s a new documentary out that makes that case. Greg Gutfeld talked about it in his monologue Monday night, and it’s a must-watch:

https://www.foxnews.com/video/6341873795112

He takes pains to stress that documentaries have points of view, and you shouldn’t accept their conclusions just because they’re what you want to hear. But as one of his guests, who knows the filmmaker, pointed out, much of it is police bodycam footage that seems to counter the “racist police killers” narrative, and that the jurors and public weren’t allowed to see. If there’s an argument against it, then why were we never allowed to see it?

As so often is the case with the left (see the January 6th kangaroo committee), they want us to believe that they are the unquestionable source of truth while at the same time refusing to let us see the evidence or question the witnesses. If what they’re saying is true, why are they so afraid to let us see all the evidence

The Supreme Court already rejected an appeal by convicted police officer Derek Chavin, but it was on another issue. This story might not be over yet. Meanwhile, you might have heard that Chavin was stabbed in prison, that his injuries could have been life-threatening but he's expected to survive, and his family has been kept in the dark. But the prison promises to keep him safe FROM NOW ON. Glad to hear you'll finally be doing your job now, guys.

https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/other/derek-chauvin-s-prison-committed-to-protecting-him-after-stabbing/ar-AA1kDcpX

One of the most disgusting aspects of this is the way liberals celebrated Chavin's stabbing online. If you don't know that it's wrong to celebrate or mock the deaths and illnesses of people just because you don't like them for political reasons, then you are fundamentally lacking in basic human decency. Here, let me show you how this works:

Stephen Colbert's show is on hiatus because he suffered a ruptured appendix. That can be a very serious, even fatal, issue, so I'm sincerely relieved to hear he's recovering after emergency surgery. I hope you'll join me in praying for his complete recovery.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/health/other/late-show-canceled-as-stephen-colbert-recovers-from-surgery/ar-AA1kCx8D

See, leftists, is that so hard?

Well, what do you know…

One of the greatest hits of leftwing “fact-checkers” is their assertion that there was no such thing as censorship of conservative voices online. That’s just a paranoid, rightwing conspiracy theory. Yeah, about that…

Two researchers from the Media Research Center report that interference in the 2024 election via social media censorship has already started. Methods range from “censoring candidates’ campaign websites, to fact checks, to removing content and accounts altogether,” all “silencing the voices of those who seek to represent and lead the United States.”

And who is the target of all this censorship by Google, YouTube, Facebook, X, Instagram, TikTok and LinkedIn? They identified 169 instances of it: 162 against Biden’s opponents, and a whopping seven against Biden. All the candidates had their messages manipulated at least once, while the champion of being censored was Vivek Ramaswamy, with 18 incidents, followed by Robert Kennedy Jr. with 17.

https://www.foxnews.com/media/big-tech-censored-2024-presidential-candidates-169-times-with-biden-accounting-only-seven-study

I know what you’re thinking: Where’s Trump? Well, he’s a special case: having been totally censored by all social media platforms, he started his own, Truth Social. Even though he hardly maintains a presence anywhere else, he was still censored often enough by those platforms the few times he appeared on them to come in fifth.

One caveat: Biden was listed as the “most censored” candidate on X (Twitter), but that’s because so many of his posts were corrected by the platform’s “Community Notes” feature. A Twitter spokesperson said that’s not censorship, and it doesn’t come from Twitter, which allows free speech; it comes from users exercising their free speech to provide context and corrections. No wonder liberals hate Elon Musk so much!

A wonderful world…

In the latest dispatches from the wonderful world of “progressive” education, a Jewish professor was banned from USC's campus due to outrage by anti-Israel protesters over a doctored video that falsely depicted him as saying all Palestinians should be killed (at USC, the anger of anti-Semitic mobs apparently outweighs objective truth, something to remember before you pay to send your kids there.)

https://www.breitbart.com/education/2023/11/26/jewish-usc-professor-barred-from-campus-targeted-by-anti-israel-activists-with-doctored-video/

Hundreds of students at Hillcrest High School in Queens, New York, ran through the halls waving Palestinian flags and chanting “Free Palestine” and screaming, “The teacher needs to go!” after a female teacher was seen on Facebook holding a sign reading “I stand with Israel” at a pro-Israel rally. They reportedly tried to get into her classroom but were blocked by other faculty members. New York City Councilwoman Vickie Paladino told Fox News Digital that she was “sickened, but not surprised”:

"Our education system is fundamentally broken, and antisemitic riots like this are sadly the natural result of years of woke leftist indoctrination replacing real education. Allowing progressives to gain total control over our institutions was always going to lead to tragic outcomes; they’ve been working to instigate a cultural revolution here for decades, and now those efforts appear to be bearing fruit."  Fruit and nuts.

Hunter’s legal team wants to comply with subpoena on THEIR terms

Hunter Biden’s legal team, led by powerhouse DC attorney Abbe Lowell and paid for through “loans” from Hollywood sugar-daddy Kevin Morris, is continuing its aggressive response to those who would dare question the first son.  It’s got to be done their way.  Here’s Lowell’s reply to the House Oversight and Accountability Committee…

https://jonathanturley.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/2023.11.28-A.-Lowell-Letter-to-Chairman-Comer-1-1.pdf

It would be fun to shoot this blustery letter full of great big holes, but is that even needed?  Just about anyone reading this newsletter can probably do it with ease, even though it was written by attorneys being paid approximately $1,000 an hour.  (Maybe we’re in the wrong line of work!)

Yes, Hunter will cooperate with the subpoena, they say, but only if the hearing takes place on their terms.  They do NOT want a closed-door transcribed deposition, as is normally done at this stage of an investigation prior to a public hearing.  Their boy is special; they want to go straight to the public hearing and that’s the end of the discussion.  Well, the discussion is not over and the committee has rejected this demand.  The committee still expects Hunter to come in on December 13.

Democrats on the committee are assured to get equal time for questions, committee chair James Comer told Sean Hannity on FOX NEWS Tuesday night, and the full transcript of the behind-closed-doors interview will be released.  He went into detail about the lack of cooperation from the White House.

https://www.foxnews.com/video/6341940540112

Comer also sent a letter (not a subpoena at this point) to Kevin Morris on November 15 and said he expects to hear from him, although the deadline of November 22 for Morris to contact their staff has passed.  The letter makes interesting reading...

https://justthenews.com/sites/default/files/2023-11/2023-11-15%20GOP%20Letter%20to%20Kevin%20Morris.pdf

As Comer explained on Tuesday (the 28th), “You have to request through a letter first.  We’re doing this the right way; we’re making sure every ‘i’ is dotted and every ‘t’ crossed.  If he doesn’t respond to our letter to come in voluntarily, then we will issue a subpoena.”  So, looks as though that’s next.

Morris has reportedly “loaned” (?) Hunter over $5 million, and these two are not longtime friends but, as fas as we know, just two guys who met at a fundraiser for Joe Biden’s presidential campaign.  This raises questions about campaign finance, ethics and tax fraud.

https://justthenews.com/politics-policy/comer-doubles-down-demand-hunter-biden-testimony-vows-release-transcript

As former acting Attorney General Matt Whitaker said on the show, “...Remember, Abbe Lowell knows exactly what he’s doing.  He knows that the weakest part of this case is if his client has to sit down for directed questioning from a counsel of the majority that can ask a line of questions and not be interrupted every five minutes by the rules of the committee [as would happen] if it was public.”

One can just imagine how the hearing would go if it were on TV.  Democrats on the Oversight Committee would have equal time, and they’d use it to gnash their teeth and rend their garments before the cameras about Hunter being a victim of partisan politics, a fragile recovering addict who should be applauded for this and allowed to remain outside the glare of the spotlight.  (This, after he demanded a public hearing as opposed to a quiet deposition.)

As legal analyst Gregg Jarrett said, Hunter knows that in public hearings, “probing questions are rare.  Members grandstand with their speeches.  But he also wants the usual Biden sycophants like Jamie Raskin and Dan Goldman to portray him as this poor victim of drug addiction who should be forgiven of his crimes.”  (We’re reminded of Hunter’s sad-sack op-ed in the WASHINGTON POST, playing up his status as addict.)  Addiction, though, is not an excuse under the law.

Another key point, made by Comer:  this committee is conducting an impeachment inquiry into President Biden, not Hunter.  The deposition is primarily intended to get information about potentially impeachable offenses by the President.

Whitaker was reminded by this stalemate of Trump associates Steve Bannon and Peter Navarro, who WERE held in contempt and prosecuted by the DOJ for refusing to testify, and said Hunter should be treated in exactly the same way.  Think that’ll happen with this “Justice Department”?  Me, neither, but at least by pressing the point, the Oversight Committee will show the DOJ for what it is.

Here’s the full interview segment from Tuesday…

https://www.foxnews.com/video/6341945351112

Legal analyst Jonathan Turley also lacks patience with Hunter Biden.  After he got the subpoena, his response was that he might testify “when the time is right.”  Really??  As Turley has pointed out, “That is not quite how subpoenas work.”  When he puts conditions on his compliance, “Hunter fundamentally misses the point of a congressional subpoena.”

“This is a bad start for Hunter, who is a lawyer,” Turley said in a new column.  “For years, he has been able to manipulate the media and create ever-changing rationales for his role in the alleged corruption scheme, from expert to addict to victim.”

According to Turley, Hunter won’t get away with trying to dictate the terms.  “He can choose his answers, but not his forum.  Putting the bravado of the letter aside, he now has a date with Congress and he will no longer be able to orchestrate how he appears in public.”

Or, we would add, behind closed doors.

https://jonathanturley.org/2023/11/28/hunter-has-a-hearing-date-but-he-has-demands/#more-212489

John Solomon and Steven Richards at JUST THE NEWS have a breaking story about how Hunter paid his debts with “loans” from Democrat donors to his father’s presidential campaign --- Kevin Morris and others as well --- and also from the sale of his art (“art”).

Federal and congressional investigators have amassed evidence that shows Hunter has taken in over $6 million since his father ran for President in 2020.

After reviewing hundreds of documents, JUST THE NEWS got in touch with Morris’ attorney Bryan Sullivan, who told them he had reason to believe their source was not credible.  But he failed to contradict any factual information in their story.  And Abbe Lowell didn’t respond at all.

Interviews and documents also show that Hunter has made more than $1 million from selling his paintings “under a deal with an art gallery that was first brokered by one of his father’s fundraisers in California.”  JUST THE NEWS has details…

https://justthenews.com/accountability/political-ethics/hldhunter-kept-afloat-millions-fathers-democrat-donors-after

On September 29, 2022, Joe’s brother James Biden told IRS agents and federal prosecutors that he didn’t know why Kevin Morris had been so helpful to nephew Hunter.  In the notes, it simply says, “Morris was helping RHB [Hunter] a lot, but James B didn’t know why.”  He speculated that it might be because of his giant ego.  He wasn’t aware that Morris had asked for “anything but a thank-you.”  But “RHB was very closed lip about Morris.”

Here’s the pdf of those interview notes; there’s a lot of interest for when you have the time.  The part about Morris is on the last two pages.

Message control by the left; an important follow-up

In yesterday’s newsletter, we reported on the government’s relentless push to control “journalism” and social media messaging going into Election Year ‘24, despite the exposure of their unconstitutional efforts leading into Election Year ‘20.  Margot Cleveland had written a column about a private entity called NewsGuard that had received $750,000 in federal money (our taxes) to continue developing its censorship tool called “Misinformation Fingerprints.”  The company says their invention enables users to “verify the content of their posts before publishing them.”  Danger, danger, Will Robinson!!

Coincidentally, only a few hours after yesterday’s newsletter reached you, we found perhaps the most valuable and accessible source of information we’ve seen on this subject, an interview with Mike Benz of the organization Foundation for Freedom Online.  We’ve discussed this group before and encourage you to dig into their website...

https://foundationforfreedomonline.com

The video, brought to us by AMERICAN GREATNESS and hosted by Dan Proft, is remarkable for its rare combination of information-density and ease of understanding, coming in with a running time of just under an hour.  Watch Benz’s explanation of how the “deep state” --- let’s just go ahead and call it what it is --- is crafting a diabolical way to skirt the First Amendment and control the messages Americans can send or receive, particularly on certain topics such as election integrity and the pandemic, and you’ll come away with a solid grasp of just how sophisticated and dangerous it is.

I could summarize it here, but there’s so much of value that I’d much rather you watch the whole thing.  Some of the entities Benz talks about, like the Election Integrity Project and CISA, will be familiar, as we’ve discussed them often.  Benz ties them all together and emphasizes their global nature.  In other words, it’s not just our country doing this to us.

The program doesn’t really begin until the one-minute mark, where you’ll see a brief foreword by Proft and his introduction of Benz, and then we’re off to the races.

At 37 minutes in, Benz specifically addresses NewsGuard, whose goal, he says, is “to kill the revenue of alternative news.”  (That’s us, folks.)  They plan to do this “so people are forced, CLOCKWORK ORANGE-style, to read only mainstream media, which is intermediated by the Pentagon and the CIA.”  You’ll think you have a choice, because there will be different outlets to choose from, but “choice” will be an illusion, because everything will have been either “verified” or flagged as misinformation, if you can see it at all.

In the coming weeks, Benz says, his organization will be coming out with a three-part series on “exactly how this has been concocted.”  It can’t come too soon.

RELATED: I’m thrilled to see that the efforts to expose NewsGuard are not going unnoticed. A group called the FSA (Free Speech Alliance) has launched a campaign to pressure House Republicans to cut the $750,000 in funds that the Defense Department is paying NewsGuard. That’s right: as a conservative taxpayer, your hard-earned taxes are being used to fund an organization dedicated to taking away your right to free speech.

Finally, here’s today’s link to the latest stories from Fox News on the Israel-Hamas war.

https://www.foxnews.com/live-news/november-29-israel-hamas-war

The ceasefire that was already extended by two days expires today at 5pm EST, but it’s possible it could be extended another four days.  As of Wednesday, Hamas had released 60 Israeli women and children and 21 people of other nationalities, but there are still believed to be 159 hostages either being held by Hamas or passed off to other terrorist groups.

Meanwhile, Israel continues to be vilified by the morally bankrupt, and they’re facing pressure to extend the ceasefire (we know that means indefinitely, giving up on crushing Hamas and letting them go back to rearming and murdering more Israelis) by a range of halfwits, from UN officials to the Palestinian president to our own Secretary of State. Antony Blinken claims the continuation of the ceasefire “by definition means that more hostages would be coming home, more assistance would be getting in.”

Actually, it means that Hamas will be chalking it up as a victory. They were supposed to release the hostages during the initial agreed-upon period, but they’ve repeatedly broken the deal and not released hostages while trying to drag it out indefinitely. Giving them more time won't lead to more hostages released but to the ones they have being released more slowly and incentivizing them to take even more.

Here’s just one example of the “good faith” Hamas has shown: small children who were held hostage are not only being treated for injuries from beatings and torture, but for psychological trauma from being so terrorized that they’re afraid even to speak in the pediatric wards.

https://www.foxnews.com/world/stories-torture-torment-revealed-israeli-children-kidnapped-hamas-terrorists

So no, I don’t want to see a “negotiated truce” that turns these rabid animals loose to do this again and again.

Related: Even for Rep. Rashida Tlaib, trying to equate innocent children and babies being kidnapped, tortured and terrorized by Hamas barbarians to Palestinian minors arrested by Israel for real crimes like stabbing police and attempted bombings is a new subterranean low.

https://redstate.com/nick-arama/2023/11/29/rashida-tlaib-doubles-down-with-a-train-wreck-of-statement-about-israeli-political-prisoners-n2166946
