“That’s the classic prosecutor’s cheap shot.”

So says Gregg Jarrett (who wrote the appropriately titled THE RUSSIA HOAX) of special counsel Robert Mueller’s decision to include the “we-didn’t-exonerate-Trump-on-obstruction” language in his report, which was finally released to the attorney general on Sunday. When a prosecutor loses a case, Jarrett explains, he sometimes just can’t resist adding that, well, even though they didn’t find sufficient evidence of any crime, that doesn’t mean the subject is innocent. So when Mueller found no basis to recommend any further indictments –- on “collusion” (conspiracy), obstruction, anything having to do with the Russia case –- he added that language on obstruction to muddy the waters.

And that’s the line that all Democrats and almost all media will run with --- not the truly stunning line about the Trump campaign not colluding with Russians “despite multiple offers from Russia-affiliated individuals.” Let that sink in a minute. Who were those individuals? Which ones were also affiliated with the Hillary campaign, perhaps trying to lay a trap, perhaps involved in the fraudulent Trump “dossier.” This –- not whether Trump said something disparaging about Robert Mueller in a tweet –- is the important stuff that cries out for more investigation.

#2 story:  Trump's poll numbers should worry Democrats

By Mike Huckabee

The Democrats have a lot to worry about these days: they now have 18 candidates duking it out for the Presidential nomination, not one of whom would a sane person trust to run a coffee shop (except the one whose experience actually involves running coffee shops.) The most prominent media face of their Party is an ex-bartender who’s quickly developing a reputation as the socialist Gracie Allen (a reference I guarantee she’ll have to look up on Wikipedia.) And the “Russian collusion” narrative they staked their hopes on collapsed, leaving them desperately rooting through Trump’s tax records, garbage bags and septic tank, looking for anything at all to justify the impeachment attempt they announced the minute they realized they’d lost

With all that to worry their fevered minds, this news might just finish them off: Trump’s approval rating among Hispanic voters has risen to 50 percent. If Democrats can’t count on two-thirds of the Hispanic vote, they can likely kiss Florida and Arizona goodbye in 2020, and maybe a few other states such as Colorado, as well.

#3 story: North Dakota fossil story

By Mike Huckabee

Paleontologists digging in North Dakota have found what’s being hailed as the most important discovery of the new century: a “time capsule of the end of the world.”

It’s the perfectly-preserved fossilized remains of a group of fish, insects, mammals and one dinosaur, all jumbled together, that apparently all died at the same moment 66 million years ago, when a tsunami-like wave and a shower of rocks, sand and molten glass buried them alive. It's believed to have happened just minutes after a huge asteroid smashed into the Earth near Mexico, ending the era of the dinosaurs. They even found charred trees and dinosaur footprints from just before the blast.

Aside from the scientific value, there are two other aspects of this story that should be of interest to us today...

#4 story: Mitch McConnell opens the nuclear door

By Mike Huckabee

When then-Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid invoked the “nuclear option” to limit the GOP minority’s filibuster power, he never imagined that the Democrats would one day be in the minority. Well, now they are, and the nuclear door is open and they don’t have radiation suits.

Yesterday, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell instituted another change to rein in the minority’s delaying power, this time bringing back a rule from Obama’s first term. Since it was changed, any Senator could force 30 hours of debate on any nominee, even after the Senate had voted to end debate and vote on a nomination. Democrats had been abusing this power to delay Trump nominees indefinitely. The nominees may be perfectly well qualified and have bipartisan support, and the offices for which they were nominated have been empty for two years and are in desperate need of being filled, yet the Democrats just kept delaying for no reason other than they hate Trump and refuse to accept that he’s President and has the right to appoint people.

#5: Understanding socialism

By Mike Huckabee

One of the many fatal flaws of socialism is that people who are sold on it have no idea what it actually is. For instance, one popular defense of socialism on social media is that if you are in favor of fire departments, highways, Social Security, etc., then you love socialism. Except those things are NOT “socialism.” Every government has certain things it does in the public interest and pays for through taxes. That is not government control of the means of production.

And Social Security was designed as an insurance program to which people contributed throughout their lives and got their own money back in retirement. It was perverted through the years by government spending the money on other things and replacing it with IOUs, which turned it by default into an entitlement program that it was never meant to be. Now, one generation pays in and the money goes to generations that joined earlier. That’s not exactly socialism, either, that’s a “Ponzi scheme.” If you ran a system like that in the private sector, you’d end up in prison with Bernie Madoff. But socialism and Ponzi schemes are similar in that they both take money from one person and give it to another, and they both eventually collapse.

American Taliban?

By Mike Huckabee

Last May, Hofstra University’s president refused to give in to demands by leftist students to remove a statue of Thomas Jefferson because he was a “slave owner and sexual predator.”  But on Friday, they renewed their demand to join the Taliban in tearing down historic icons, with one offering a speech that contained more “like’s” than a Facebook post of a cat playing the piano.  You can read about the whole thing here.

Senator Cotton urges the IRS to look into the SPLC

By Mike Huckabee

If you’ve been keeping up over the years with my newsletter, radio and TV shows, podcasts, and website and social media posts, then you might sometimes feel when watching the news that you’re seeing reruns.  It’s amazing how many “revelations” are being reported now that I’ve been telling you for years (Trump didn’t collude with Russia, Hillary did; there was a lot of resentment in America against coastal elites and it was going to elect Trump; etc.)  Now, today’s news brings us two articles at once that will give my longtime followers a feeling of déjà vu.

First up, there’s the news that Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton has written a letter to the IRS making the case that I’ve made for years that the Southern Poverty Law Center is no longer a legitimate champion of civil rights but has become a corrupt, partisan attack dog that defames traditional Christian and conservative organizations as “hate groups” and is no longer deserving of tax-exempt 501(c)3 non-profit status.

President Trump is wrong about this

By Mike Huckabee

When I disagree with President Trump, I have no qualms saying so, and here’s an example of where I think he’s wrong. He announced this week that the Republicans might wait until after the 2020 election to present a health care plan to replace Obamacare.
