THE EVENING EDITION By Mike Huckabee

Good evening! Here are some stories from me that I think you will want to read.

DAILY BIBLE VERSE

THE LATEST NEWS

1.  GUILTY VERDICTS:

Wednesday afternoon, a jury returned guilty verdicts on nearly all charges, including felony murder and aggravated assault, against Travis McMichael, his father Gregory and neighbor William Bryan. The three white men were accused of killing Ahmaud Arbery, a young unarmed black man, near Brunswick, Georgia. They had spotted Arbery running past their houses and assumed he was fleeing from committing a burglary, although no evidence ever arose to prove he’d committed any crimes. They chased him, confronted him, and Travis shot him with a shotgun. He also reportedly used a racial epithet, which earned him an extra conviction for malice murder.

This link from Fox News has continually updated information on the case, which had officials on edge due to fears of rioting if they’d been acquitted. Which, it is important to remind people who constantly attack the court system as racist, they were not.

https://www.foxnews.com/live-news/ahmaud-arbery-trial-jury-deliberations-wednesday

This is the third high-profile murder verdict in less than a week, all in cases that involved charges of racist courts. Yet in this one, the white men who murdered a black man were found guilty. In the Andrew Coffee case, a black man who shot white police officers who staged a surprise late night raid of his home was acquitted on self-defense grounds. And in the Kyle Rittenhouse case, a white teenager who shot three white men who were attacking him was also acquitted on self-defense charges, which many ascribed to racism for unclear reasons. Some media outlets even mistakenly thought Rittenhouse's attackers were black.

I don’t know what conclusion we’re supposed to draw from all these verdicts about the American court system, but if juries are making their decisions based solely on race, they don’t seem very consistent about it. Here's a wild thought: maybe most jurors take their responsibilities seriously and base their decisions on the testimony and the evidence. And if that doesn't mesh with the verdicts of the media or random people on Twitter, maybe it's because the jury actually knows more about the case than they do.

2. THE QUESTION FEW DARE ASK:

Good piece by blogger/law professor Anne Althouse, asking the question few in the media dare to ask: Why aren’t the Wisconsin officials who allowed the Kenosha riots to go on, and allowed the rioters to set fires and attack people in the streets, getting any blame for the Kyle Rittenhouse shootings?

https://althouse.blogspot.com/2021/11/the-government-in-failing-to-maintain.html

If they had done their job of protecting public safety, Rittenhouse never would have felt he had to go help put out fires or save people, or carry a gun for self-protection. They not only did nothing to keep the peace, they spewed incendiary anti-police rhetoric that inflamed the mob. It’s about time we all noticed that when these liberal politicians were pointing their fingers at Rittenhouse, three fingers were pointing back at them.

3. THE ADULTS ARE IN THE ROOM, NOW WHAT?!?:

I told you yesterday about President Biden dealing with skyrocketing gas prices by releasing 50 million barrels of oil from our Strategic Petroleum Reserve. This is sort of like shooting a hole in your right foot and attempting to fix it by giving yourself a transfusion of blood from your left foot. As I noted then, 50 million barrels is less than three days’ supply for the US, it reduces the reserve we depend on in emergency situations like wars, and it doesn’t begin to address the real problem, which is his own destructive policies toward the US fuel industry. Since I like to look on the bright side, I noted that at least he seemed to have fleetingly grasped that there is a connection between supply and price.

Unfortunately for him, people who actually know anything about this subject realize there’s not that much of a connection between the long-term Biden-caused shortage and a one-time, 50 million-barrel transfusion. So oil prices continued rising.

https://www.westernjournal.com/bidens-plan-lower-gas-prices-blows-face-oil-prices-soar-admins-oil-reserve-tap/

Remember when we were told by Democrats/the media that Biden’s election would mean the adults would be in charge again and competence would return? What they meant was that everyone with private sector experience would be replaced with arrogant nitwits who’ve never drawn a paycheck that wasn’t funded by the taxpayers, a university, a lobbying firm or a media company.

Right now, the two most important officials dealing with gas prices and the supply chain crisis are Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm. Buttigieg’s predecessor under Trump, Elaine Chao, was practically born for the job as the daughter of a major shipping company founder, and she had an impressive resume longer than the line of ships waiting to unload cargo in Los Angeles. Buttigieg’s qualifications were that he checked off the “Gay” identity box, he likes trains, and he dropped out of the race and endorsed Biden. Granholm’s predecessor was Dan Brouillette, who had been a vice president of Ford and held top level federal energy positions since 2001. Granholm’s background is entirely in law, politics and the media. Here’s how much she knows about energy:

https://www.westernjournal.com/watch-bidens-energy-sec-cant-answer-basic-question-gas-prices/

She was asked the most basic question related to her job – “How much oil does the US use in a day?” – and she said she didn’t have that number in front of her. Dear readers, if you can divide 50 million by three, then you know more about America’s energy needs than the Secretary of Energy does. But she said that doesn’t matter because this oil release is just a stopgap while we transition to solar and wind energy, which I’m sure we can do before that three-day supply runs out.

This is the same “Energy Secretary” who laughed like Kamala Harris when asked what could be done to bring down energy prices, and said she didn’t have a “magic wand.” I suggest that if she wants to replace oil and gas with the breeze and the sun, she’d better find a magic wand PDQ.

By the way, if that “magic wand” line sounds familiar, it’s also what Obama said when he mocked Trump saying he’d bring jobs back to America. Just as in that case, solving the energy problem doesn’t take a magic wand, it just requires imposing conservative policies that work instead of liberal policies that fail. For "adults in the room," they seem to read a lot of Harry Potter books.

(Speaking of Kamala Harris, who is in charge of fixing the border crisis: when Trump refilled the depleted Strategic Petroleum Reserve at prices one-third of today’s, Harris blasted him for “bailing out Big Oil.” Now, that same oil is being used to bail out her boss for his idiotic policies. I won’t hold my breath waiting for her to say, “Thank you, Donald Trump.”)

https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2021/11/23/hypocrisy-kamala-harris-slammed-trump-refilling-oil-reserves-biden-drained/

These alleged “adults in the room” just keep doing things that any halfway intelligent fourth grader would know will end in disaster, then they’re baffled and start pointing fingers of blame at others when the inevitable disaster ensues. The more I see them, the more I think of Casey Stengel’s frustrated question to the Mets during their first catastrophic season:

“Can’t anybody here play this game?!”

5. WAUKESHA PARADE UPDATE:

A sixth victim of the driver who plowed through the Waukesha, Wisconsin, Christmas parade has died. Eight-year-old Jackson Sparks is the first child to die from his injuries.

https://www.foxnews.com/us/waukesha-christmas-parade-attack-jackson-sparks-dies

It’s expected that a sixth count of first degree intentional homicide will be charged against Darrell Brooks Jr. He’s a career criminal who was let out of jail on $1000 bail just two days earlier, even though one of the charges against him was trying to run over his girlfriend. This is a tragic reminder that the death count might still rise, so I hope you will continue to remember the victims and their families in your prayers.

https://www.foxnews.com/us/waukesha-parade-darrell-brooks-charges-bail

A doorbell video camera captured what Brooks did after leaving the deadly parade scene, and he doesn’t appear to be impaired, just anxious to get away from the police.

https://www.westernjournal.com/chilling-surveillance-video-shows-suspect-minutes-parade-massacre/

The district attorney requested and received a bail amount of $5 million, which was described as “extraordinarily high” but “warranted.” That doesn’t make up for all the extraordinarily low but unwarranted bail amounts that his office had been recommending over the years that enabled people like Brooks to rack up lengthy criminal records and end up right back on the street.

This has shone a spotlight on similar situations in cities across America where leftist DA’s, usually backed by George Soros money, enact “criminal justice reforms” that amount to decriminalizing crime. It’s resulted in massive surges of crime that are victimizing law-abiding people, especially in the very minority neighborhoods that they claim to be “helping.” There’s more about that well-deserved backlash here:

https://www.foxnews.com/us/waukesha-parade-left-wing-district-attorneys-bail-reform

Here’s a particularly telling excerpt: “Progressive district attorneys from Los Angeles, San Francisco and Chicago…did not respond to Fox News Digital’s requests for comment on the Waukesha case, bail reform and the intersection of the two. Neither did a half-dozen other prosecutors.”

Too bad, because I have a question for them: What exactly is “progressive” about destroying civilized society and the rule of law, and letting barbarians prey on innocent people, including killing children?

San Francisco’s leftist mayor has a genius idea for preventing more of the open stripping of shelves by thieves in Union Square’s high-end stores: limit parking and traffic there.

https://redstate.com/kiradavis/2021/11/23/san-franciscos-mayor-has-a-genius-idea-to-stop-looting-over-the-holiday-n480579

All things considered, I suppose we should be grateful she didn’t suggest creating “Getaway Van Parking Zones” to make it easier for them to load up.

7. MORE RIDICULOUS THAN THE REAL THING:

I feel sorry for the writers of the Babylon Bee, trying to come up with satirical jokes about today’s “woke” left that are more ridiculous than the real thing. Latest case in point: watch the Women’s March organization grovel in the dirt to apologize for offending Indigenous Peoples after they realized to their horror that a fundraising email said their average donation this month was $14.92. They’re kicking themselves for not noticing that 1492 was the year Columbus arrived, “a year of colonization, conquest and genocide,” and (horrors!) “especially before Thanksgiving.”

https://redstate.com/sister-toldjah/2021/11/23/womens-march-picks-perfect-time-to-profusely-apologize-for-14-92-average-donation-email-n480766

I feel so bad for them, I’m thinking of sending them $16.20. If that triggers them too much, they can always refund a penny and keep $16.19.

That link shows how people are laughing at this hilarious example of hysterical liberal oversensitivity. I’ll bet the Babylon Bee writers aren’t laughing, though. They’re probably saying, “We have to compete with THIS?!”

8.  THIS JUST IN

White House press secretary Jen Psaki gives Kyle Rittenhouse’s civil lawsuit attorneys something to give thanks for on Thanksgiving.

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/psaki-refuses-retract-biden-characterizing-kyle-rittenhouse-white-supremacist

By the way, if public figures could sue as easily for defamation, Trump would have a pretty good case for Psaki's false accusation that he refused to condemn white supremacist groups. From one year ago, here’s a five-minute Trump campaign video showing him doing that 38 times:

Your remarks "The Adults Are In The Room, Now What ?" is so spot on, I wish it was possible to agree 1000% with it! Everything biden has done or tried to do and every person he has chosen has been a total failure and has harmed America and but has supported China and the Marxists in our country! Thank you for saying the truth so very well!

#3 "The adults in the room" segment is best described by 2 Kings 17. After the 10 Tribes of Israel to the north living in Samaria were removed by Assyria, then Assyria gave the land to the Babylonians. The Babylonians appointed the lowest, most unqualified, to become the leaders. They mixed their pagan worship with the worship of the Lord of Abraham, Issac and Jacob while continuing their evil pagan worship. Today we see the Democrats appoint their lowest, most incompetent, those who want to mix in their kookiest ideas while expecting everyone to abandon sanity and accountability.

    Mr. Huckabee,

These people have no conscience and no intelligence. They throw stupid phrases and words at the television camera in hopes that some measurement of those words fall together to express something that makes sense. Then the media will have hired enough intelligent people to turn that smatter of ignorance into an intelligent thought. Today’s media news is something for the United States to be ashamed of and not touted as an intelligent, inspirational source of wisdom.
I don’t believe that if you put the entire nightly news media in one room and collectively reported their I.Q. as a cumulative number. That value would not exceed the singular I.Q. of any 1st grader in most Elementary Schools located anywhere in the Southern United States (where I live.) Frankly, you could include most professional politicians on the socialist side of the scale and lower that number to the Kindergarten level or maybe the newborn level.

Thanks for allowing me to vent,

    James Johnson
