The Jeff Sessions Story Part I

March 2, 2017

The liberal fever dreams over President Trump being some sort of Russian Manchurian candidate have now reached a critical mass of hysterical paranoia far beyond anything that came out of the 1950s “red scare” they keep making movies about.

In the Democrats’ latest public meltdown, Congressional Minority Leaders Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer are both demanding that Attorney General Jeff Sessions resign, with Pelosi thundering that he was “not fit to serve as the top law enforcement officer of our country” for allegedly lying under oath to Congress by denying having contact with Russia in the past year. Just to be clear, here is the written question from Sen. Pat Leahy that he was asked:

“Have you been in contact with anyone connected to any part of the Russian government about the 2016 election, either before or after Election Day?”

Sessions said no. It’s now been reported that he did speak on two occasions to the Russian ambassador in the past year, but he says that as part of his duties as a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, he spoke with ambassadors of a number of countries, but at no time did he discuss the 2016 election or the Trump campaign, so his answer was honest and accurate. He called any accusations otherwise a false story.

(Just as a reminder: throughout the Obama Administration, Pelosi and Schumer never called on Eric Holder or Loretta Lynch to resign, despite Holder being charged with contempt of Congress and Lynch meeting with Bill Clinton in private while overseeing a federal investigation of his wife, at the time the leading presidential candidate. It’s heartening to discover that they now have such a rigid standard of conduct for Attorneys General, but I can’t help wondering where it was prior to November 8, 2016.)

At this point, it’s worth taking a step back and reminding ourselves of how all this hysteria over Russia that’s been drummed up by the Democrats and the media (but I repeat myself) got started. It all grew out of one of several ridiculous, grasping-at-straws excuses for Hillary Clinton’s election loss. In between blaming sexism and James Comey, they landed on the excuse that she lost because Russia hacked the DNC and John Podesta email servers (which had such lousy security they could have been hacked by a blind chimp) and gave the emails to WikiLeaks (which still denies Russia was the source). Those emails mostly just confirmed what even the aforementioned blind chimp already knew: a biased media were openly colluding with Hillary’s campaign to cheat Bernie Sanders and help get her elected President. Somehow, this became commonly referred to as “Russia hacked our election,” despite investigations turning up no proof of any irregularities at the ballot box.

The current paranoid hysteria by Democrats and the media over anyone related to Trump having any contact with anything remotely Russian, from nesting dolls to a bowl of borscht, is based on both a desperate effort to delegitimize Trump's Administration and their own psychological inability to accept the reality that Hillary Clinton lost the election because she carried only 489 out of 3112 counties nationwide (i.e., just 20 out of 50 states). They can't bring themselves to admit they nominated a terrible candidate and a worse campaigner, deeply disliked and distrusted, with more baggage than American Airlines, whose platform consisted of being female and promising to double-down on failed liberal policies that about 70% of Americans thought were moving the country in the wrong direction. Also, she didn’t even campaign in must-win industrial states where people were losing their jobs while she was promoting transgender bathrooms and promising to shut down more coal mines and power plants that employed voters. Trump was promising to “make America great again” while Hillary’s supporters were openly sneering at the suggestion that America was ever great at all.

And that’s why Hillary Clinton lost the election, Charlie Brown. Once again, I quote singer/songwriter Graham Parker: “Is this a Russian conspiracy? No, it’s just idiocy.” Now, with the insinuation that Jeff Sessions of all people is some sort of double-agent for the KGB, it’s become idiocy approaching insanity.

Jeff should have told the President given that it was clearly a set up to get a SC to drive Trump from office. Any one should have seen that. But it is not time to shoot the staff it is time to do damage control. First Gov. Huckabee should lead on this! Send a message to the President he is not a political guy. He is a duck out of water here. Damage control could be accomplished by sending Reince to find candidates for all ten of the democrat senate seats, and all of the turn-coats in the GOP. Next pull in Tom Delay to be CoS to get the job done... in the Senate ...There are no hard solutions; in fact they are all easy in government. But getting folks to give up the largess is the hard part .. DJT should try the ploy of putting the members of both houses on ACA that would cure it ... Newt says it can be done.. Mike you should start a fund to depose the turn coats... Great Blog site ..

Well put, brother Mike!! You and Rush, my favorite analysts and commentators! I hope Jeff Sessions will hang in there. He was a great choice for AG. I'm confident Trump will realize and retract his statements.

It took me awhile to get on board with Trump. I finally felt after observing for a long time he had a good heart & he was surrounding himself with smart & quality people. I became a dedicated Trump voter & expected the republican party to act as a team...& support the leader. Felt also good manners would rub off by example. This last while has been a disappointment: first Sean Spicer then this infantile pouting behavior with Sessions. Trump should bear responsibility for not asking Sessions more questions before he appointed him (if that truly is the reason & why he has his nose out of joint).
He could turn this around by acting like an adult & having a private talk with Sessions...he could then proceed to address the group with Sessions & behave like a gentleman & speak about it. This is really going to bite Trump if he doesn't clear it up as he has been mean & a bully. He has a two sided personality ...he speaks loyalty & trust? He has made a major mistake here & is losing people's respect...fear is not respect. M T Brehm

As Joan Dean's comment pointed out, why aren't all of the Clintons' criminal issues with under investigation and IN THE LIMELIGHT? Why are we taking all of this? If there is an obvious answer, I've either missed it or just refuse to accept it. Although I truly believe prayer works ...

How could or did the Russians mess with our elections? I want to hide in shame by so many of the Presidents tweets. Does it really take all that kind of garbage talk to get our country great again?

Good to hear your point of view always. Can you talk "the Donald" into stop playing into the Dems vicious attacks by eating his own Reps. They are experienced statesmen and he needs them. He is being helped by their work and listen to their advice. We are holding onto this country by a very thin thread and just don't blow it Donald, we need you but we also need them.

We also were VERY upset that Sessions recused himself. He is supposed to have the President's back and he has not! Trump needs a stronger fighter than himself to replace Sessions! Someone who is going to take on all the Clinton crap and put those evil crooks along with their dem minions in jail! No BS we the American People Deserve MUCH Better!

You are totally correct, I really miss your Saturday night show on Fox News station. Hillary has done many shady things and it seems the democratic party let her get away with it. They are so wrong about our President Trump and I am one of his people that voted for him and feel that he will turn out to be the best President we ever had. I wish they would stop being jealous of him and let him "Make America Great Again"!!!

I've wanted Donald Trump to be President since the 80's & am a big supporter of him. I feel this will be a big mistake to fire Sessions. He's doing a great job, especially in immigration. We have about 300 gangs in the Houston area. Mostly illegal immigrants. Put America first Mr. President, not your ego!

You are right on, Brother. I always looked forward to your program on Fox on Sat night and miss it very much. When are you returning to television?

But what can we do? I am an Alabamian and voted for Jeff Sessions for as long as I can remember. It's not really about Mr Sessions. It's about not letting the voters be heard through the Administration WE elected! The turmoil being created is unacceptable. We the people want Our President to have a chance to do his job. Mr Hukabee, I agree with everything you mentioned above. I and many, many others see what is going on. This brings me back to my question. What can we do to help stop the the blatant obstructions so you all can do the jobs you were hired to do? I and many millions pray for this Administration daily, you all definitely have your job cut out for you.

I am glad that you speak out the right way and I believe there is some swamp draining to be done. The only thing that bothers me a little is that he has chosen all high position pepole. It would be refreshing to see an average Joe somewhere in the mix. An honest guy who would be able to give common sense imput. I don't see how he will ever be able to get term limits set. No one should have the limit of death do us part. Even the President is limited to 8 years. I have never been more disappointed my fellow humans that are labeled Democrats. They work for the party not for the average American. Lasts I don't think anyone should get a free ride. I am retired Navy 20 years and Civil Service 22 years. Would not have to work if I got all my Social Security. When I retired from Civil Srevive the Government took 60% of my Socila Security. I am 78. I don't expect to get what I lost but it would be nice to get what is do. I often wonder where that money I paid in went.

Thank you for your explanation. After hearing from Rush Limbaugh and Mark Levin today, I would like to know what do you think about their theories that Obama and others are staging a "peaceful" coup? It would seem that there is more evil afoot here than just a few overzealous liberals.

  • Leonardo Riera

    03/03/2017 05:29 PM

    Mr. Huckabee:

The GOP surrendered very quickly to the pressure from the Democratic Party and the media (re: Sessions). I honestly think that he didn't want to risk his election as AG, knowing that his meetings with the Russian Ambassador were of no consequence, and that Democrats are in a witch hunt. The concern is that the Democrats are like sharks when they smell blood, and winning the small battle of Sessions recusing himself, and previously Flynn not being completely outright on his call with another Russian official, gives Democrats two tiny victories that might take them to a point where perhaps they will find that Trump knew or was mentioned the meetings, and then the media will go crazy.

My point is much simpler: All Governments have a right to have a preference on the result of the elections in another country. Ideology, personal friendships, trade deals, common military interests, etc. Putin had every right to dislike Hillary, and have a preference for Trump. Obama had a preference to defeat Netanyahu. The Tea Party most likely prefers a victory by Le Pen in France.

We all know that Russians and Chinese hack into our systems. We actually hack into theirs, too. If they hacked into the DNC server, or into Hillary's server, it's not pretty, but it's something that happens every day. Hackers have entered into the White House web page multiple times. If the DNC was not careful enough, in part it's their problem. Who hacked is a secondary issue. The main issue is that the content of those emails is very legitimate. To the point that Debbie Wasserman had to resign as Chairman of the Party one week before their convention, and Donna Brazile was asked to resign by the ultra-liberal CNN. They can't blame the Russians for the content. They wrote the content. Podesta wrote the content. Actually, Podesta has received shares in Russian oil companies in compensation for "something", most likely the Rusatom deal. Bill Clinton received a couple of million just in fees, which was a rate much higher per speech than the one he charges. Those things were corruption, and should be investigated.

Even if the Russians were behind the hacks and made that information public, they did not vote for any of us, and if they had exposed false information it would be one thing, but the content was all legit.

At this moment, the main concern I have is that Democrats are not going to stop here. They are finding more and more details, and before you know they will come up with something that might tie Trump. Before that happens, we should establish that we voted, we had made our decision well before the hacks and wikileaks. Putin didn't threaten people to vote for one candidate or the other. The election was very legitimate, even in Obama's words. Hillary acknowledged Trump's victory, the very same day. End of that story.

This is just one episode/distraction of an EVIL plan to destroy the Trump administration by the OFA ! The American public better pay close attention to what is really happening right under our noses! This plotting & sceaming took place months ago by the master community organizer! It's really frightening! Stand up, speak out, & defend those that are trying to help the American people! Stop being on the defensive & get on offense! Attorney General Sessions has done nothing wrong! The Trump administration cannot drain the swamp fast enough! That would be my first priority, otherwise the PEOPLES' business will never get done! Their plan is to cause chaos, disruptions, anything they have to do to harm President Trump & his agenda! While President Trump is ridding our country of criminal illegals, enemies abound in The White House, State Department, & our Intel groups! Sad state of affairs when your fellow Americans are your #1 enemy!

The attacks against President Trump and anyone associated with the President does not surprise me. It is lunacy by the Democrats, and, the longer they keep at it, the more they alienate themselves...they are just reinforcing to America how much they care only about themselves, their ideology, and their underhandedness. If they cared about America, then they would work with Republicans to pass legislation, and put forth policies to help Americans. What they are doing right now is nothing but wasting the taxpayers dollars. Everyday that they continue having their temper tantrums is another day that they're wasting the taxpayers dollars. So if they want to continue to act like toddlers throwing temper tantrums then the natural result is that eventually they will wear themselves out and either do the right thing which would be to get to work, or hopefully be replaced by candidates who want to build a better America.

Thank you for this refreshing take on the situation. The Democrats are now jumping frantically at any chance to criticise and discredit the President and his administration! They won't succeed but what they don't realise is that they are driving people even further away from their party! The Democratic Party used to be Center Left, nowadays it's almost unrecognisable! I love your posts as they are always witty and to the point and again your piece just hit the nail on the head. Jeff Sessions has done nothing wrong but they'll try it anyway, unsuccessfully I'd like to add.

Mike I think there is a lot more to this. They are going to go after the son in law now. .I am beginning to feel suspicious . Why would Putin want a Trump president when The Clintons gave him so much ? Valerie Jarrett moved in with Obama and it's been widely reported that she is there to conduct their shadow Goverment to take down the Presidency. What is Jarret ethnic background and what country did Obama just help to build nukes and a ton of money to go along with it ? What two countries are aligned in Syria ?
Why is this comming out now and why was the Russian ambassador invited to sit with the democrats Tuesday night when Trump gave the speech.
Before the speech the Dems said publically that they were going to troll Trump during the speech ,initially I took it to mean it was the illegals they were inviting but now I think it was the Ambassador.
