UPDATE: If you thought Afghanistan couldn't get any worse...

By Mike Huckabee

We had hoped to bring you updates from the White House and State Department this afternoon --- not that we trust anything they say, but we’d wanted to be able to report it --- but they’ve essentially gone silent. Their update earlier today was that there was no update. I am not kidding.

But we do know that the situation keeps changing, hour by hour, and that it just keeps getting more grave. At the time of this writing, we can confirm that there two bombs were detonated. According to initial reports, four U.S. Marines were killed, but the death toll is now up to at least a dozen service members.

The suicide-bomb explosion closest to the airport entrance is described as a “complex attack.” The other explosion was outside the Baron Hotel, where Americans, Britons and Afghans had been told to gather in recent days in order to be evacuated. The only thing we’ve heard from the White House at this writing is that the President “has been briefed.” For more details on this poor excuse for an “evacuation,” here’s an excellent report.

Pentagon spokesman John Kirby did come out at 3PM Eastern Time to read a prepared statement and then take questions. He said they think there are “about a thousand” American citizens still in Afghanistan. He maintained that some of them do not want to leave. (!!!) He said they’ve screened “over 104,000 people.” He expressed pride in the actions of our service members and coalition partners and acknowledged that some evacuees have experienced “profound suffering.” In answer to a question, he said that, yes, they anticipated more attacks, perhaps rocket attacks. (Sure enough, later in the afternoon there were reports of another explosion.)

(We pause for this editorial comment: Hey, I thought the Taliban said they wouldn’t attack before the August 31 deadline! Does this mean they LIED? Ah, but, in breaking news, the attacks have been attributed not to the Taliban per se but to ISIS “K,” although this looks to us like a distinction without a difference.)

A bipartisan group of legislators has called on President Biden to extend his August 31 deadline to pull out U.S. forces. An excerpt from their statement: “As Democrats and Republicans, we stand united in our commitment to protecting U.S. citizens, diplomats, intelligence officers, and our foreign partners who are currently attempting to flee Afghanistan.” We’ll see if there’s any response to this from the White House, or if the President is just going to abandon all those people just to be able to say he obeyed the Taliban’s order.

In another update just before our deadline, a reported 60 people have been killed in these bombings, including children.

Also, the White House announced mid-afternoon that our esteemed Commander-in-Chief will make an appearance later in the day, in which he will blame everyone but himself for this travesty. I made that last part up, but that's our prediction. We’ll have an analysis of that and full updates in our Friday morning newsletter.

In the meantime, our Thursday report wouldn’t be complete without this: Taliban fighters joyriding in a Black Hawk helicopter. Just a little something they picked up at Kandahar Airport.

Watch This

If you haven’t yet seen the new ad about President Biden put out by former President Trump’s organization Save America, watch it here. Even if you have seen it, watch it again and share it with everyone you know.

Good: This Group Is Ignoring President Biden

By Mike Huckabee

It may be too little too late to help everyone, but prayers for the brave CIA members and remaining troops in Afghanistan who are doing what everyone in the White House and Pentagon should have done: they’re ignoring President Biden and launching clandestine operations to rescue and evacuate Americans that he would apparently leave to the mercy of the Taliban.

COVID Paranoia

By Mike Huckabee

Just when you thought freedom-infringing COVID paranoia couldn’t get any more over-the-top, a high school in Washington State said, “Hold muh beer and watch this!” Parents’ reaction was so negative, they quickly backtracked, proving once again that making your voices heard works.

There is no question that COVID-19 can be deadly, particularly to certain demographics, and that we need to be concerned about the variants. However, this hysterical fear that’s causing some people to want to live the rest of their lives like “The Boy in the Bubble” (Google it) is not supported by facts. To give you a better handle on the actual relative dangers of COVID, here’s an article by Dr. Thomas T. Siler at American Thinker that tallies up the current stats. It might help reassure you that the world is not coming to an end.

Reason #9,347 Why The UN Is Useless

By Mike Huckabee

It’s entirely possible that if the Taliban forms a functioning Afghanistan government, they’ll get a seat on the U.N.’s Commission on the Status of Women. These are men who believe that women have only two statuses: property or corpse.

Jimmy Carter v. Joe Biden

By Pat Reeder

Tom Rogan at the Washington Examiner argues that it may be time to reassess Jimmy Carter’s handling of the Iran hostage crisis. Facing far fewer options and with less leverage than Biden has with the Taliban, Carter launched a rescue mission. It may have failed, but at least he did try to rescue the Americans. In retrospect, Biden is making Carter look like a national hero.

Identity Confirmed

By Mike Huckabee

It’s been rumored for months in conservative media that the Capitol Hill cop who shot unarmed protester Ashli Babbitt to death (and was cleared of all wrongdoing) was Lt. Michael Leroy Byrd, who has a record of mishandling firearms. That has now been confirmed after Byrd reportedly gave an interview that will air on NBC.

Like thousands of others, I have an idea that would be shunned by the leaders, but: If we let Afghanistan go to the numerous warlords and spent our time and energy getting people to safety, might it be possible that they would all kill each other. They all hate each other and want to have things their way. If we and other sensible countries refused to help them and give them money of help, wouldn't it be possible that the many warlords would annihilate each other? What if other countries were to surround Afghanistan and not allow food or energy to go in or only allow some to go out (if they were put in confinement until vetted or known to be safe) ?

Dear Gov. Is there anything in the Constitution that "We The People" can do when all faith in this current Administration is crippling US? I so hope our Founding Fathers had a Plan Z, not another Jan. 6th, but something that will make a change. 14 months to Nov. 2022 is a hell of a lot time to do more damage than what's happened in the last 8 months. Wounded beasts fight back like no Other! God Bless You & Yours....Bill C.

The latest news today has a picture of a bowed Biden and renewed calls for his resignation but is missing the point (on purpose). Biden is not responsible for his actions (as is no one suffering from cognitive mental decline). The people responsible are those closest to him that put him in this position and support or caused what "he" has done (family, doctors, executive staff, Democratic leadership in Congress, and some Republicans who have been unable to see the handwriting on the wall). You can add those who voted for him because the early signs of his mental decline were evident during the campaign whenever he was allowed to have exposure. A president is not a dictator, does not act alone, and often must choose between opinions or options, but when wrong choices are made repeatedly it is obvious that something needs to be done (Keystone pipeline stopped than asked OPEC to increase oil output, "wall" stopped and illegal immigration surges. etc.). Putting all of this on Biden will be giving the liberal democratic machine (who used him as a tool and "fall guy") a pass, when they are the ones who should be held responsible.

My prayers to our fallen heroes & their families & also to all the Afghan people who were killed. This should of never happened! Biden has blood on his hands & we can never let this stain go away. Oh, what's with our fantastic Generals & State Departments??
Biden can't help himself for blaming Trump. President Trump & Mike Pompeo laid out the conditions & it proved to be a good arrangement until Biden reversed everything. I've also heard negative statements about President Trump's condition with the Taliban. Would you clarify Trump's condition if possible? I feel Trump was right.
Also, Biden stated, as reference to the killings, "we will find you, we will hunt you down, & we will kill you (I don't know if he used the 'Kill' word). He couldn't protect our people, now he's treatening the Taliban or whoever, what a joke!!
Everyone could see how Washington, Pelosi, is so upset about Afghan, she & her minions passed the trillion $ package.
Then, Biden & Harris will be campaigning for Newsome in CA, next week top priority!!
