NBC, Hollywood and some liberals already have Oprah Winfrey elected President in their heads, but Oprah might already be feeling some reservations after getting a taste of what it’s like to stick your neck out in the political arena. Like the photos at this link that were already circulating before the final credits even ran at the Golden Globes.

I have always warned potential candidates that they’d better not go into politics if they don’t like the sight of their own blood. Oprah has always struck me as a nice lady, and I have no beef with her personally. But you can’t run for President on likability alone. The job requires taking controversial political stands and having everything you’ve ever said in your life dug up and thrown back at you.

RIP John Young

By Mike Huckabee

We snap one giant Huck’s Hero salute to a genuine American icon: John Young, who spent 42 years in NASA’s space program, becoming the longest-serving US astronaut in history, died Friday in Houston at 87.

Young was the only astronaut to go into space as part of the Gemini, Apollo and space shuttle programs. In 1965, Young and Gus Grissom flew Gemini 3, the first two-man space flight. In 1969, he piloted the command module of Apollo 10 around the moon in preparation for the first moon landing. Three years later, as commander of Apollo 16, he became one of only 12 men ever to set foot on the moon – and the only one to repair a car up there (when the fender of the moon buggy fell off, he replaced it with a cardboard map and kept on driving.) In 1981, he became commander of the Columbia, the first space shuttle. And he was a hero to other astronauts for his outspoken demands for better safety conditions for astronauts, even when it didn’t make him popular with NASA higher-ups.

But of all the amazing accomplishments on John Young’s resume, one might be the most unusual: he’s the reason astronauts are banned from bringing contraband food along on space missions. That happened in 1965 after he was so repulsed by the freeze-dried food that he smuggled a corned beef sandwich aboard Gemini 3. So he was a hero we could all look up to, and a guy we could all relate to. Godspeed, Commander Young.

Monument for African-American Confederate soldiers?

By Mike Huckabee

Two South Carolina Republican Representatives want to erect a monument to some forgotten figures in history: African-Americans who served with the Confederate Army. That sound you hear is SJWs’ heads exploding all over America.

Ohio billboard ad campaign

By Mike Huckabee

The largest abortion clinic in Ohio is running a billboard ad campaign designed to get people thinking about abortion in “new, diverse ways.” The fill-in-the-blank headline suggests that abortion is a “blessing,” a “family value,” “life-saving” and “sacred.” Which I guess answers the question, “Does Ohio have truth-in-advertising laws?” with a resounding, “No!”

ACLU midterm election plans

If you donate to the ACLU out of the misguided belief that you are helping them defend innocent Americans’ Constitutional rights, be aware that they plan to spend $25 million during the 2018 elections to promote liberal candidates who defend illegal immigrants and abortion – or as the ACLU calls killing babies in the womb, “reproductive freedom.”

Nuclear Meltdown

By Mike Huckabee

Sorry, liberals: Twitter is not going to ban President Trump’s account just because his tweets about North Korea’s nukes give you the heebie-jeebies. Height of irony: these are the people who write all those crazed leftist tweets we see. They invented the concept of a nuclear meltdown on Twitter.
