November 4, 2020

By Mike Huckabee

No winner yet for 2020, but some YUUUGE take-aways

The vote count goes on, as we knew it would, but enough of the results are in to give us some YUUUGE takeaways.

First, we’ve seen that Democrats have been true to their stated plan to interfere with the election process, particularly in Philadelphia –- ironically, the birthplace of American democracy. There were reports throughout the day of attempts to discourage and disenfranchise Trump voters there, and even to keep Republican poll watchers out. This is the kind of thing that reportedly was going on all day.

And at the time of this writing (the wee morning hours), Philadelphia has mysteriously STOPPED COUNTING votes until Wednesday morning. The media, as well, stopped adding to their projections as Trump was seen pulling ahead. Everything sort of ground to a halt, with critical battleground states still not called.

A subdued Trump addressed supporters at almost 2:30 AM to thank them generously but also to say, in effect, “We’ve been doing so well, we thought we’d be coming out here to claim success –- brilliant successes in Texas, Ohio, Florida and other states –- and all of a sudden they stop? What happened?”

He referred to the efforts to disenfranchise voters and said, “We won’t stand for it.” He also expressed bewilderment that certain states still hadn’t been called for him when he was up so far that the Democrats “can’t catch us.” His explanation: the Biden campaign knew they couldn’t win and are now going to say, “Let’s go to court.”

It's certainly understandable that he would distrust the results, especially from Pennsylvania, whose state attorney general, Josh Shapiro, tweeted the day before Election Day that "when all the votes are counted in Pennsylvania, Trump will lose."

"This is a fraud on the American public,” Trump said. (I have a feeling his campaign had advised him not to go that far, at least not yet, even if it is true.) “This is an embarrassment to our country. We were getting ready to win this election --- frankly, we DID win this election.” The media and the Biden campaign –- same thing –- will have a field day with Trump’s claim that he has won, and NBC even broke into his speech to “fact-check” it.

But he’s right about this: a freeze on ballot-counting gives Democrats the chance to see how many votes they need to “find” in Philadelphia to win Pennsylvania, and time to miraculously “find” them. This has the appearance of classic voter fraud. The next few days --- or weeks --- will have to be handled very carefully, by experts in election law.

Update: the Georgia count was stopped as well.

Another takeaway: it should now be clear to leftists who want to pour billions of dollars into statewide elections for the U.S. Senate to try to brainwash people with a steady barrage of nasty commercials that it doesn’t work very well. Actually, it’s kind of fun to see that they’ve flushed so much of their money down the toilet, and also kind of nice the way they helped all those TV and radio stations with their bottom lines. It’s one of the few ways Democrats know to stimulate the economy. But still.

They should’ve learned when “Beto” (Richard) O’Rourke of El Paso received about $70 million in his 2016 Senate race against Republican incumbent Ted Cruz that this is not a dependable strategy. “Beto” was the darling of the Hollywood left, complete with his own VANITY FAIR cover –- not the way to impress Texans –- and instant celebrity status. Ooh, and if you squinted, he even looked a little like Bobby Kennedy! News flash: that doesn’t impress Texans, either.

At that time, it was the most expensive Senate race ever. But you might have noticed that Texas still has the same Republican senator it had before. Texans outside El Paso found out a little about his background: the vast wealth this “progressive” candidate married into; his embarrassing weakness as a speaker, his fondness for jumping up on dining tables, flailing his arms and dressing up like animals; and (especially) his eagerness to seriously infringe on the Second Amendment. All those millions were not enough to impose a leftist agenda from outside the state.

And now, four years later, we see this again, as Democrats spent more than a quarter of a billion dollars trying to get senatorial challengers elected in Texas (against its other Republican senator), South Carolina and Kentucky. But Texas Sen. John Cornyn has won re-election by a large margin. So have South Carolina Sen. Lindsay Graham (who also chairs the Senate Judiciary Committee) and Kentucky’s Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. Graham clearly had been concerned about the $100 million (!) being spent by Democrats to get him out of office, but it turned out he didn’t need to worry.

One other important take-away, and an especially welcome one: People are tiring of Democrats playing the race card and aren’t necessarily going to follow expectations. Look at how much better Trump and the Republicans are doing this time with black and latino voters.

I’m so sick of all the condescending talk about Trump’s “base” --- the assumption being that it’s a bunch of white (racist) males who don’t have much book-learnin’ --- so it’s nice to see that stereotype defied in 2020. Trump has actually even lost a little support among white males. (I’d rather he not lose ANY support, but this statistic does help make my point.) And since 2016, Trump has gained support among black men, latino men, white women, latino women and black women. Biden's remark that if you don't support him, "you ain't black" was offensive to many of all races. Cubans in Florida turned out so strongly for Trump that some on the left have decided "they ain't latino" and are now referring to them as ‘white.” (!)

I have a better idea: Will the media please stop using identity politics as a way to pigeonhole us regarding our voting preferences and every other thing about us? No? Didn’t think so.

We'll keep you up to date as the story of the 2020 election continues to play out. How I wish our country could be spared the spectacle and the stress of the coming days. But at least the process itself is telling us a lot about where our country is right now, so maybe we can get a handle on some serious issues facing us before it's too late.

Some random observations on our nail-biting Election Day:

It’s important to stay positive, stay calm and keep praying for America. Despite all the pollsters’ smug predictions, and the relentless assaults by the media and social media, Trump still has a good chance to win (his unofficial electoral vote tally at this writing is 277), the Senate appears to have stayed in GOP hands, and the Democrats lost some House seats. Even if (Heaven forbid) Biden ekes out a win, Mitch McConnell can put the brakes on some of the more radical Democrat schemes, like packing the Supreme Court, doubling taxes and gutting the First and Second Amendments.

And without a packed SCOTUS, we as citizens can go to the courts to fight against overreaching government, before some of the many Trump-appointed judges who put the Constitution above their personal feelings, and all the way to the conservative majority Supreme Court. There might be no more desperately-needed progress, but at least we’d have some avenues to push back against encroaching socialism.

The predicted “blue wave” didn’t appear, even though there was record turnout. If anything, it showed how deeply divided America is, with an almost evenly-split popular vote and blue states voting overwhelmingly Democrat and red states overwhelmingly Republican. Oregon is so deep blue, voters reelected a Governor who shut down their economy and protected rioters and looters who are preying on them. It also became the first state to decriminalize possession of all drugs for personal use, including heroin, cocaine and meth. Just what they need, right? Looking at Portland, I assumed mind-altering drugs were already legal. Of course, those drugs are still illegal under federal law. We’ll see if the DEA turns a blind eye to open heroin, coke and meth use, the way they did when states legalized pot.

More election thoughts

At the time I am writing this, I’m very hopeful that John James can maintain his lead to take Gary Peters’ seat in Michigan. And in a major win for pro-lifers in Alabama, Tommy Tuberville unseated pro-abortion Sen. Doug Jones.

Sadly, the Democrats held the House majority, so Nancy Pelosi will continue to provide rabid partisan obstructionism. But at the moment, it appears that Republicans have added at least six seats. A number of those winners are Republican women. Two of the sweeter victories were Nicole Malliotakis beating incumbent Rep. Max Rose in New York by nearly 58-42%, and Maria Elvira Salazar defeating Rep. Donna Shalala in Florida. In North Carolina, 25-year-old Republican Madison Cawthorn won and will take Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s title as youngest Congress member. Unfortunately, AOC, Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar were reelected, as expected, considering their districts. Voting for Omar may be the only good-paying job available in her district.

I’m very disappointed that Kim Klacik lost her longshot bid for the House in Baltimore to Democratic machine incumbent Kweisi Mfume. Still, she’s a great new voice in the party, and I’m sure she’ll have a bright future. I’m even more sorry for the voters who chose Mfume over her and are now going to get more of what they’ve gotten for decades.

I get that a lot of people only voted for Biden because they just have a visceral hatred for Trump, having absorbed four years of relentlessly negative press and fake news. But I scratch my head over how people can be sitting in a filthy, crime-infested, riot-torn blue city or state, surrounded by homelessness, drug needles and human feces, their kids condemned to terrible public schools, barred from going to work even if they had a job, with no electricity and the only light provided by the uncontrolled wildfires outside, and vote for more of the same, year after year. Then they donate to Democrats in other states to try to make them the same way. That’s beyond Trump Derangement Syndrome; it’s Stockholm Syndrome. How can people cling to a habit that’s so clearly destroying their lives? We need to offer them a 12-step program, like Democrat Voters Anonymous.

Good news from Louisiana: voters overwhelmingly approved a state constitutional amendment declaring that “to protect human life, a right to abortion and the funding of abortion shall not be found in the Louisiana Constitution.”

Why should any state suddenly stop counting votes just because it’s late? Do you know why you’re able to read this right now? Because I worked late and woke up early while my staffers worked all night. Were there no poll workers in these states who were willing to work the night shift?

While it’s going to be hard to declare a winner, I think we can all agree on the biggest loser: the pollsters. Trump was down in the polls in every state he’s currently leading in. He won states that pollsters said Biden would win by double digits. The pollsters were changing their predictions even after the polls started closing. So what good were their predictions before that point? They’re as worthless as a milk bucket under a bull. Looking back, all the deadly serious media jabber about the polls seems like a complete waste. You could have better spent your time watching “Mr. Ed” reruns on MeTV. At least the horse knew what he was talking about.

Second biggest loser: the media. Over the past four years, they flushed away the last shards of their credibility and now stand revealed to the world as nothing but DNC sock puppets.

Social media, too, have proven that they are too big and too biased and are now a clear and present danger to America and a threat to free speech and the free flow of information. If the House refuses to do anything to stop them, then we can stop them through lawsuits and denying them our patronage. On that subject, may I recommend DuckDuckGo, the search engine that doesn’t track you, and, the free speech version of Twitter.

Keep positive, keep praying, and stay tuned!

Your newsletter today was a comfort; I've been stressed, angry disgusted, etc., even though I think Trump will win in the end.
There's no way Biden actually received all of the votes they're claiming. I can't believe that so many Americans are so stupid!

I am going to commit to never watch the Main Stream Media ever again. I have been referring to them as the #SwampMedia. The lies. I hoped with a Trump victory this would be a referendum on the Media. IT DOES NO GOOD TO HAVE THEM.

I’m working on fighting the voter fraud in Michigan. I donate to a well-known a pro bono law firm that has been deluged with calls of citizens who witnessed and recorded voter fraud and who want to sue. We have to move quickly if you can help identify witnesses in WI and PA as they could arrange to handle similar citizen suits in these states.

You didn't mention that Maxine Waters got kicked out of her CA seat in the House so hard that she may be the new face in the moon. Thankfully, we won;t have to hear much more of her abusive language (after Jan 20th).

Mike, you or your staff should see what the people of Missouri did with those outsiders that came to our state last year and got a cocamammie idea past by deciet, that changed how we were to establish voting district.......We came back this year with amendment 3, and did a constitutional amendment to go back to our previous redistricting rules! Check it out!

What a 'charade' America has become. To pull "a Biden" and plagiarize the dictionary and thesaurus: "The race for the presidency of the United States has become a charade: FARCE, pantomime, travesty, mockery, parody, pretense, act, masquerade!"

The only positive thought possible in this unrelenting 'farce' is that God is still in charge, and He already knows the outcome! That said, it continues to concern me, being old, that even our children, let alone our grandchildren, will have LOST the America I grew up in! That may appear to be a fairly rabid 'pessimistic' outlook; however, anyone paying attention over these past fifty-odd years will have to acknowledge the fact of America's decline in almost every measured category of American life. Two of the worst instances has to be our annual deaths from drugs and children killing other children by the 10s of thousands!

My contempt for nearly all talking heads, media, and our elected representatives, is unlimited when they continue to spew the same lie that "The American People Are NOT Stupid." Many may not be stupid, however far too many involved with that thing referred to as "The American Electorate" are not just stupid but incompetent and have been for decades. Those other Americans(?) that do not participate in that electorate have ceded their right to complain and are simple lemmings/slaves to those controlling their lives.

Americans have LOST the culture war. That should also tell everyone that America, as it was intended, is also LOST. The America of old was founded on Judaeo Christian values and norms, and the society was primarily a religious one. Today, America has 'devolved' into a completely narcissistic secular society! We have spawned generations of ill-educated indoctrinated children with little to no moral compasses. Far too many in those generations now believe America should embrace Socialism/Communism/Marxism, which is a deadly cocktail of ignorance and stupidity!

Here is my final pessimistic view. Sadly, I do not see how any of that mentioned gets turned around? The Reverend Billy Graham once stated, "Only God Can Change The Hearts of Men," and God has regularly been kicked to the curb in the America of today. Prayer may help; however, given where God is in America today, I'm not sure how well he hears our pleas?

There was also a young man, Alex Skarlatos running against Democrat Peter DeFazio, in congress for 34 years, that lost his race in Oregon's 4th Congressional district. I hope these fresh new faces continue to try to make a difference. We need them!

There is so much evidence that points to a Trump victory - thousands at his rallies, thousands of prayer meetings, evangelical preachers upholding the Constitution, huge prayer march at D.C., the Catholic Church telling their members they must not vote for abortions, the fact that he got far more minority votes than last year, backing by police unions, firefighters, etc. Add to this that states shut down their voting when Trump was ahead. There is way too much support for Trump for him to lose. What does that tell us about voter fraud?

It seems as though many people don't really believe there is a heaven to gain & a hell to shun. If God did not spare the angels that sinned, why would HE spare people who not only murder innocent babies themselves but also vote for the baby murderers ? God is not only a God of Love -
He is also a Just God. Often people don't really miss something until it's gone. When the Righteous rule the people re joyce, but. when the UNgodly rule the people mourn. Sin is a reproach to any people. THERE IS A JUDGEMENT DAY COMING .

I am stunned to say the least about this election!! What the President has done these last 4 yrs for this country & all of this work he does across the oceans, I can't believe someone who spent months is his basement & just exposed himself in the last few weeks that he could be President. All the rallies President Trump did, what happened??? I'm sure we're all praying very hard these states that haven't been counted will send him back to the White House!! I can't image another democrat in the White House.

The corruption being brought out in many of the so called blue states is amazing. I pray that Trump fights each and every instance of same. Example Wisconsin: With over 70% in, suddenly over 120,000 votes are tabulated and not one went to Trump?????

    Election issues 2:

How do they know theyre trashing GOP ballots vs Dem since envelopes arent marked R or D.
    Whose counting
Who paid USPS workers to dump ballots & why no prosecutions made.
Is this same for midterms ahead
Who benefits by voting corruption: Dems, CCP, Iran, Russia, BLM etc.
Why isnt the Postmaster Gen held to account for bad workers.
Why is Big Tech blocking information we need to know & why no prosecutions & scrap Section 230

    Mr. Huckabee,

Donald Trump will probably win reelection, so feel free to go ahead and gloat in the coming days to your heart’s content. He surely will, ad nauseam, and endlessly no doubt.

But regarding your column here, I can only say you truly live in your own dream world of a fantasy of your own imagination. What’s most concerning though, is do you just do it to promote and prosper your website, or do you really and truly actually believe what you and/or your writers pen for you to tag your name to?

It’s often said we get the government we deserve, and perhaps that is true, even though it’s not always in the way we intended. However, I think the future will come to show at least half of those who voted for Trump that they did not and will not get what they thought they were voting for. As it’s also often said, beware the law of unintended consequences. I guess time will tell, won’t it?

    Who counts votes
why cant Indie AI computer count votes
    whose trashing ballots
    whose turning in ballots
How do they do ballots for GOP or Dems?
What if undercount Dem ballots by own error.
Why do they NOT count cities first vs rural areas.
Will this lead to Civil War 2
Should we privitize Voting since city govts too corrupt
    Revamp voting process
    Implement Voted ID
Redo signature or other for ballots
Drop Election Integrity since NOT working OR maybe some states.

    Hi Governor,
I know that God is in Control but I think this has been the worst election ever and mismanaged by elections and states in so many ways. In this day of technology, this is absolutely no reason for this kind of mess happening. I made the wisecrack that they must be using pony express to deliver the ballots and using snails to count the ballots. Sorry but All of the States should have the same rules and regulations. Use the same kind of ballots and machines in all states and absolutely no ballot harvesting allowed and all absentee ballots should arrive the Friday before election and all states should start counting ASAP and have them ready to add to the IN Person counts on Election Day. Also, Everybody should have to show proper ID and use their signatures on absentee ballots. Military should be the only exception for any kind of late ballots. Oh yeah and Everybody should Register to Vote before October 1st and not allowed to do it after that date unless they have moved from the state or moved to new county. The BOE needs to clean up their registration rolls, too. Sorry this is so long but there has to be a way to keep this chaos from happening again.

This is voter suppression and fraud as only the Democrat Party could systematically inflict on American democracy.

P.S. I forgot to mention in my comment submitted earlier today an error in your Nov 4 morning edition. Oregon did not vote for Governor this election but did vote for Secretary of State, State Treasurer, and Senator. As expected the Democrat Treasurer and Senate incumbents were reelected but we Republicans had hoped to replace Richardson's seat, our Republican Sec of State that died while in office, with Thatcher to retain our one and only Republican held office. That disappointingly went blue to Fagan. Now our hopes of recalling our very progressive Democrat Gov Kate Brown, if successful, will result in another deep blue progressive (Fagan) to replace her. If it weren't for our faith in Christ controlling history and His ever faithful power to bless the individual in times of national and state discipline, we would start packing and move to Idaho yesterday.
