I recently ran an essay claiming that the Democrats have no positive accomplishments or ideas that the American people accept, so they’re reduced to running on the “Three R’s”: Russia, Racism and Recession. The “Russia, Russia, Russia” hoax imploded; and they’re cluelessly overplaying their “everyone and everything is racist” narrative, insulting tens of millions of Americans. That leaves Recession.

Just in case you didn’t believe me when I said they were rooting for a recession, trying to talk down the economy and spook the stock market, and don’t care if you lose your job as long it helps Trump lose his job, here’s a sample of what MSNBC looks like these days (I assume you aren’t watching because who is?)
To be fair, I don’t think Ms. Ruhle is necessarily being pro-recession. She seems fairly honest and realistic about economics and the business cycle. The problem is the context: she’s just one part of a relentless drumbeat of talking down the economy, starting from a mindset that promotes the idea that things are worse than they appear. To illustrate, note how the anchor refers to 3.7% unemployment as “a relatively low unemployment rate.” The last time the jobless rate was that low was in 1969.
In other words, we have the lowest unemployment rate in 50 years, or half a century. Or as MSNBC might call that, a relatively long time.
