This article by Alexandra DeSanctis at National Review is primarily about the stunning betrayal of the Catholic faith and values exhibited by New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo in pushing for and signing New York’s new abortion law that allows for the slaughter of unborn children right up to the moment of birth (yes, I know about the vague “restrictions” in the law’s language; I also know how meaningless they are.)
You should read the article for that point, but pay particular attention to this section, which makes an observation I’ve yet to see anyone else point out:
“On the evening that he signed the RHA, the governor announced that the spire of Freedom Tower, the building erected in lower Manhattan where the Twin Towers once stood, would be lit up in pink to celebrate the occasion, a jubilee for the unlimited right to choose death for the defenseless. Just beside Freedom Tower, two pools mark the spot of the 9/11 terrorist attack. Around each of them are inscribed the names of every person murdered that day, and beside the names of eleven of those women the carved stone says, ‘and her unborn child.’ Beneath Cuomo’s shrine to abortion on demand, the real story is written: These are human lives.”
Freedom Tower is a monument to the sanctity of human life, and Gov. Cuomo desecrated it by turning it into a monument to his repulsive law allowing the wholesale slaughter of innocent unborn children. He may try to justify it with fatuous, high-flown language about “morality” or “reproductive rights,” but he’s really just building a Tower of Babble. Let’s hope it will be as short-lived as the original Tower of Babel.
Since New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo is so in love with abortion, you’d think he would be thrilled at having to abort some of his spending plans, but no. On Monday, Cuomo announced that since he introduced his new state budget plan last month, New York’s tax revenues have plummeted by $2.3 billion.
He said, “That’s as serious as a heart attack. This is worse than we had anticipated…This is the most serious revenue shock the state has faced in many years.”
Cuomo largely blamed it, of course, on the Trump tax cut, which limited the deductions allowed for state and local taxes to $10,000. Democrats claim they want “the rich” to pay more to Washington, but they never define the rich to mean high earners in blue states (where the liberal governance insures that housing is very expensive, and so are property taxes on those houses, along with state and local income taxes.)
Cuomo did admit that there was “anecdotal” evidence of high earners fleeing New York already (I think they call that anecdotal evidence “Florida”). He even risked being the object of a snarky tweet from Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez by saying, “I don’t believe (in) raising taxes on the rich. That would be the worst thing to do. You would just expand the shortfall. God forbid if the rich leave.”
It sounds as if the city slickers in New York are finally learning a lesson from farm and ranch country: don’t milk the cash cows too hard, or they just might stampede to greener pastures.
We live in a time when video editing software is available to all. Which is one way of saying that some Trump supporter just improved that self-aggrandizing Washington Post Super Bowl ad in a way that will make the WaPo editors' heads explode.
Leave it to the journalistic geniuses at NBC and MSNBC to get on the case and figure out exactly who is to blame for the Democratic Governor of Virginia being in trouble over having a blackface and Klan costume photo on his 1984 college yearbook page. You guessed it: Donald Trump!
As convincing as the “Everything is Trump’s Fault” theory is, I’d say it’s more likely that Gov. Northam deserves the blame for picking a blackface/Klan photo for his own yearbook page. As to who deserves credit for bringing it to the public’s attention, we now know that.
Big League Politics editor Patrick Howley, who broke the story, said it was brought to his attention by a “concerned citizen,” not a Northam political opponent. The Washington Post says that sources at the site indicated that it was a classmate or classmates of Northam’s who were furious about his comments endorsing infanticide. Which makes sense because they attended medical school. I assume they are doctors and, unlike Northam, were in class the day the Hippocratic Oath was taught.
Incidentally, I would link to the WaPo story on this, but I’ve told you everything you need to know. The rest is a lengthy partisan assault on Howley, citing his work on various conservative sites such as Breitbart and his apparent support for Trump in an attempt to tar his journalistic credibility, even though he unquestionably unearthed the biggest scoop in America. Since WaPo just spent all that money on a Super Bowl ad in honor of journalists who were killed for doing their jobs, I figured they wouldn’t want me sending clicks to a site that believes in shooting the messenger, even if it’s them.
I mentioned earlier today in my newsletter how the media attempted not only to hush up the murder trial of abortion doctor Kermit Gosnell, but to blackball any mention of the excellent film about his trial. By a strange coincidence, I just learned that the DVD of that movie was released today. You can find it on Amazon at this link. Amazon also offers an instant streaming version, if you prefer that format.
Hurry and watch it before every blue state makes Gosnell-style unregulated, horror house abortion clinics and mass murder of born-alive children legal.
As I’ve said before, there is a very good reason why pro-abortion activists and providers like Planned Parenthood fight tooth-and-claw to keep people from knowing what abortion really is. They count on friendly media to bury exposes and liberal politicians to prosecute undercover reporters who expose what goes on in abortion mills. They imposed a media blackout on the Kermit Gosnell murder trial when it was going on, and tried the same tactic with the movie that was made about it. They’re constantly trying to block or overturn laws that require patients to be fully informed about all aspects of pregnancy and abortion, or to be provided with an ultrasound so they know what will be aborted. And they hide the truth behind fuzzy euphemisms, such as “a woman’s right to choose,” “pregnancy termination procedure” and “clump of cells.”
The reason they go to such lengths to blur and hide the truth is because they know that when people see what abortion really is, any human being with a spark of humanity is repulsed and horrified. Now, there’s proof.
The pro-life group Live Action produced a series of brief videos called “Abortion Procedures,” on each of the four most prevalent methods of abortion. The videos aren’t hyperbolic or overly emotional: they simply show a former abortionist describing what takes place during each of the procedures, accompanied by medical animations to illustrate it. They’ve already become the most-shared pro-life videos in history, with over half a million shares on social media and more than 50 million views.
Now, Live Action has started a new series of videos, showing pro-choice women watching the original videos and capturing their reactions. Seeing the awful truth turns them pro-life almost instantly. In one video, a woman who starts out supporting abortion “at any stage,” like the barbaric new law in New York, is shocked that her mind could be changed. She says, “I had no idea this is how abortion takes place.” She calls the video “heart-wrenching” and “an eye-opener.”
At this link, you’ll find some of the videos of the women’s reactions, along with a link to the “Abortion Procedures” videos on Live Action’s website. I hope you’ll watch them, and more importantly, share them.
The Washington Post’s rather self-aggrandizing motto is “Democracy Dies In Darkness.” But it’s absolutely inarguable that abortion thrives in darkness. If you want to end it, help shine a light on what it really is: the murder and dismemberment of a human infant.
The Democratic Party’s new socialist media star should Google her fellow leftist politicians before forming a mutual admiration society, just to make sure they aren’t notorious anti-Semites. Or is that even a problem anymore among leftist politicians?
