Happy Valentine’s Day
Happy Valentine’s Day to all our readers, whom we love dearly! Don’t worry, I’m not going to ruin your day by talking about what inflation is doing to the price of roses, chocolates and eating out. You probably already know that (or will find out soon enough.) Troubles come and go, but let’s start out on a happier note, by celebrating love that lasts a lifetime. Here’s a couple that exemplifies that: the Chicago-based comedy team of Maur and Doe Levan, who today are celebrating their 74th wedding anniversary.
It’s a good sign for me that having a sense of humor helps keep love alive and a marriage strong. Although when asked the secret of staying together so long, wife Doe Levan replied (jokingly, I think), “Fight!” I think that covers a lot of us.
3. Ukraine Update
The situation with Russia and Ukraine is changing by the hour, so rather than try to comment on it in the newsletter, I’ll direct you to this page at Fox News that’s continually updated with the latest bulletins:
As of this writing, it’s feared that Russia could invade Ukraine at any time. President Biden warned that the US and its allies would respond “swiftly and decisively.” The White House has rejected Russia’s main demands, but continues talking with them. Meanwhile, the State Department told American citizens to leave Ukraine immediately, and that there will not be a military evacuation. So they’re on their own…pretty much the way Americans were when there WAS a military evacuation of Afghanistan.
But in a worrisome sign that the Biden White House is about to botch another operation thanks to its wildly misplaced priorities, Poland announced that it will welcome in Americans fleeing Ukraine with no advance approval, but the US State Department said that they must first show proof of COVID-19 vaccination.
Conservatives were quick to note that Poland doesn’t require proof of vaccination for Americans to enter, but the Biden White House will require it or…what? Leave Americans stranded in a war zone, like they did in Afghanistan? Well, after all, we have to protect their health, right? Remember, this is the same Administration that lets masses of illegal entrants stream over our border regardless of their vaccination status.
Outkick’s Clay Travis had the perfect description for this evacuation policy: “next-level dumb.”
4. Congratulations
Congratulations to the L.A. Rams for winning the Super Bowl. And congratulations to L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti and all the celebrities such as Magic Johnson, LeBron James, Matt Damon, Sean Penn and Charlize Theron, who attended the packed stadium without facemasks.
As The Liberty Daily observed, Garcetti set a new world record for holding his breath throughout the entire Super Bowl.
Meanwhile, children returning to Los Angeles schools today were reminded that they are still required to wear masks at ALL TIMES, even when they’re outdoors. I guess the virus only stops spreading outdoors when you’re at a BLM protest or the Super Bowl.
And these people seriously wonder why so many people are supporting the truckers’ freedom protests. Why don’t they just say, “Let the peasants eat cake while they watch the Super Bowl on TV”?
5. Update on the Canadian Truckers’ Freedom Convoy protest:
Sunday, Canadian police cleared the Ambassador Bridge so that traffic could resume and arrested some protesters who refused to leave. But others remained in the streets. Meanwhile, thousands remain in Ottawa.
A new wrinkle is that leftist anti-trucker, pro-government mandate protesters have shown up, waving communist flags and carrying nasty signs and calling the truckers “fascists” for opposing fascism (hey, I didn’t say they were intelligent, I said they were leftists, which is generally the opposite.)
At PJ Media, Canadian poet and writer David Solway has an essay on what this protest is really about – not so much COVID mandates but demanding a return of the basic rights of the individual from a government drunk on power – and a worrisome poll showing that two-thirds of Canadians either oppose or are indifferent to the truckers’ protest.

Solway worries that we may be seeing the death of a nation, with most Canadians embracing the loss of their rights and freedoms in exchange for empty promises of security, and the rest moving elsewhere, like Californians fleeing to Texas.
All I can say is that if the Canadians who stay behind side with the government elitists, then they’d better hope all those truckers and other working people who do the actual producing don’t decide to move to Texas, too, or they’ll all be starving to death, which is how socialist utopias inevitably end up.
Even if the Canadians don’t care enough about their freedom to demand it back, the truckers have already inspired similar protests against politicians and oligarchs who’ve gotten too big for their tailored britches in nations as far-flung as the US, Australia, Austria, New Zealand, Argentina and France.
Over the weekend, drivers of vehicles from across France began converging on Paris to protest the COVID mandates and passports. Police threatened them with two years in prison, big fines and a three-year driving ban, and resorted to using tear gas on protesters on the Champs-Elysees.
I know that many American kids don’t learn real history anymore, but they might want to visit a dusty corner of the library to find out how French elites cracking down on the peasants for demanding their freedom worked out in the 19th century.
6. Spying on the Trump White House
Attempts by Democrats and the media to whistle past the growing scandal of spying on the Trump White House don’t appear to be working, at least not according to a new poll by TechnoMetrica Institute of Policy and Politics.
The survey found that three out of four respondents who are following the story say it’s important to investigate Hillary Clinton and her campaign for their role in creating the Russiagate scandal. Surprisingly, that includes 66% of the Democrats polled, as well as 91% of Republicans and 65% of Independents.
It’s worth pointing out that this poll was taken last month, before Friday’s bombshell news that Durham has evidence that Clinton’s campaign paid a web firm to infiltrate servers at Trump Tower and even inside the White House after Trump became President to spy on him and try to tie him to Russia.
I can understand why Republicans and Independents want an investigation almost as badly as CNN and MSNBC anchors, who spent three years flogging “Russiagate,” don’t want one. But that two-thirds of Democrats who know the story want Hillary investigated is interesting. Do they want to get to the truth, or are they feeling some anger or buyer’s remorse at learning how much of what they were told about Trump was just politically-motivated lies? Or do they just want to make sure that something – anything! – prevents Hillary from being their candidate again in 2024?
7. Economic Freedom Fell:
Try not to be too shocked by this news, but the Heritage Foundation released its annual Index of Economic Freedom, and it reports that in 2021, the US’s economic freedom rating fell to 72.1, its lowest level since the ranking began in 1995; and to its lowest-ever level globally, from 20th in the world to 25th.

The Index “evaluates countries on rule of law, government size, regulatory efficiency and open markets, while also examining specific categories such as property rights, judicial effectiveness, government integrity and tax burden.” All of these things have been hamstrung by government COVID lockdowns and mandates, the supply chain crisis, bigger and more activist government, skyrocketing crime, deficit spending that’s fueling rampant inflation and other freedom- and economy-destroying policies.
For the record, the least free nation in the world is North Korea. While almost all nations fell in freedom due to COVID restrictions, the top nation for economic freedom was Singapore, followed in the top 10 by Switzerland, Ireland, New Zealand, Luxembourg, Taiwan, Estonia, Netherlands, Finland and Denmark. So if any liberals want to claim that the US economy should be more like Denmark, for once, I won’t argue with them.
8. “Crackpipe-gate”:
“Crackpipe-gate” (as it’s facetiously been dubbed) has taken another twist or three. You’ll remember that the Washington Free Beacon reported that $30 million allocated by the Biden Administration was going to include “smoking kits” to make smoking crack and other illicit substances more sanitary for addicts, and that the kits include crack pipes. The White House denied that it was supplying free crack pipes.
Now, the Washington Post reports that the Free Beacon reporter who wrote the story said the HHS spokesperson did not specifically say that the kits would include crack pipes, but he did confirm that the kits were for smoking crack, and based on what’s included in such kits around the country, they reported that the government would be funding crack pipes.
That's a point for the White House's side. But even WaPo admitted that it’s unclear what HHS’ intentions were, since the story ran before the kits were created.
Now, here’s another twist: Jeff Charles at Redstate.com reports that Biden is under fire now for denying that he plans to give out free crack pipes (and no, not from his son Hunter.) A nonprofit group called the Drug Policy Alliance that seeks “alternatives to strict laws” in aiding addicts, is angry because it was under the impression that the Administration did intend to include crack pipes in the kits. A spokesman fumed, “It would seem pointless to distribute these kits without” pipes, which “are the main part of the smoking kit to prevent the transmission of disease.”
(Although I feel I should mention that they are the main part of transmitting crack, which is arguably worse than disease.)
And another twist: The Free Beacon fired back that the HHS spokesman told them that they do “not specify what is in the kits, leaving that detail to program participants at the local level.” And we know some local programs have given out free crack pipes.
As to the question of whether Biden’s HHS planned to give away taxpayer-funded crack pipes to addicts, it’s not clear whether they did or didn’t. There don’t seem to be any strong denials, though, that they wanted to give away syringes. So either way, they’re using our tax money to help addicts keep using crack and heroin in the name of “compassion and public health.” I don’t think they understand what either of those terms means.
9. Yet another reminder of the two-tiered, politicized “justice” system:
Mark and Patricia McCloskey have had their law licenses suspended indefinitely by the Missouri Supreme Court after they were forced to plead guilty to misdemeanors to stop the prosecutorial vendetta against them for showing (not firing or pointing, just showing) weapons to BLM protesters who came onto their property and were threatening them. Note that the protesters never faced any charges.
Even though the McCloskeys were pardoned by Republican Gov. Mike Parson, the court suspended their law licenses, but stayed the suspension subject to one year of probation, during which they must “not engage in conduct that violates the Rules of Professional Conduct.”
So now, exercising your Second Amendment rights to protect yourself and your family from a threatening mob is a “violation of the rules of professional conduct” for lawyers? I could name a lot of lawyers whose conduct is a heck of a lot worse than that, yet they still have their licenses and just keep collecting their retainers from the DNC.
10. Congratulations:
Congratulations to Jared Kushner and Avi Berkowitz for being nominated by New York Rep. Lee Zeldin for the Nobel Peace Prize for their work in crafting the Abraham Accords that led to unprecedented peace agreements between Israel and four Arab nations.
I don’t have much faith in the Nobel Committee to give the award to the people who really deserve it, but as they say, it’s nice to be nominated. It’s even better to look back at the miracle that was accomplished when we had competent leadership.
11. Hillary's campaign BUSTED in Durham investigation
“We’ve never seen anything like this in American history,” said Mark Levin in the intro to his Sunday night show, referring to the 'collusion’ among the Obama/Biden administrations, the Hillary campaign/DNC, and Mark Elias/Michael Sussmann/Perkins Coie and the creators of the fake Steele “dossier,” all to push the Trump-Russia narrative and repeated coup attempts against President Trump. “THAT’S the insurrection.” he said. “That’s what took place --- the effort to overthrow an elected President of the United States.”
Durham’s latest filing in the Michael Sussmann case, released Friday night, goes to a place that even we hadn’t even anticipated --- a place where Hillary’s people didn’t just spy on Trump the candidate. Most shocking of all, Durham says he has evidence to show they continued to spy on him after he became President, by way of “Tech Executive -1,” Rodney Jaffe, and his hacking of the President’s internet servers. (!!!) If we didn’t predict Durham would find this, it was only because we didn’t realize it was possible. If the President’s internet server, at that ultimate level of classification, is hackable, then who knows where our most sensitive national security information ended up?
Quoting from Durham: “The Government’s evidence at trial will also establish that among the Internet data Tech Executive – 1 and his associates exploited was domain name system (“DNS”) Internet traffic pertaining to (i) a particular healthcare provider, (ii) Trump Tower, (iii) DONALD TRUMP’S CENTRAL PARK WEST APARTMENT BUILDING, and (iv) THE EXECUTIVE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES (‘EOP’) [emphasis ours].”
According to the report, Jaffe “had come to access and maintain dedicated servers for the EOP as part of a sensitive arrangement whereby it provided DNS resolution services to the EOP.” They “exploited this arrangement by mining the EOP’s DNS traffic and other data for the purpose of gathering derogatory information about Donald Trump.”
In a sane world, this story would be THE headline from every news outlet. It’s hardly possible even to describe how earth-shaking it is. As the story in RedState says, “This blows Watergate out of the water and makes it look like child’s play. Only in the current hyper-partisan environment, where Democrats can literally get away with anything, is this not a major political scandal. Here you have associates of Hillary Clinton, and allies of the law firm she was contracting to get dirt on Trump, using government channels to spy on him. And not just during the campaign, but after he became President.”
Recall the way Trump was ridiculed for claiming Trump Tower was spied on. Well, it WAS, by Hillary’s people, and now Durham says he can show it was even worse –- they spied on his personal residence, and even after he became President, they spied on the White House. FOX News took viewers down memory lane on Sunday, also reminding us that one of the conspiratorial liars, Jake Sullivan, is currently working in the Biden White House.

Byron York says this newest revelation proves Trump was right. In fact, one has to wonder if Trump might not have had an insider all along who advised him of what was happening. SOMEBODY told him.
Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan, ranking Republican on the House Judiciary Committee, said Sunday morning that this new Durham filing shows the spying on Trump was “worse than we thought, as it showed the government was working with Hillary’s campaign. “We’ve never seen anything like that in history.”

Kash Patel, former chief investigator of the Trump-Russia probe for the House Intel Committee, said the filing “definitively shows that the Hillary Clinton campaign directly funded and ordered its lawyers at Perkins Coie to orchestrate a criminal enterprise to fabricate a connection between President Trump and Russia.” Legal Insurrection has a comprehensive overview of the Durham filing, highly recommended reading.
“Dilbert” creator and author Scott Adams, in his podcast “Coffee with Scott Adams,” addressed this on Sunday. “It looks like the campaign was definitely involved,” he said, “in something that looks like an insurrection.” I like his choice of words here: insurrection. “Now, keep in mind,” he said, “this wasn’t an FBI investigation, right? This was some lawyers who had some access to some technology guys who had some access to some data. This is about the most illegal thing you’ve ever heard of.”
And it happened to him after he was not just a candidate –- which was bad enough –- but the sitting President. Of all the things we’ve ever heard about that were said to be “worse than Watergate,” he said, this is the first one that really has been worse than Watergate!
Adams pointed out something we’ve noted before: that Jake Sullivan, who worked for Hillary and now is President Bien’s national security adviser, was deeply involved in this scheme. So was Marc Elias, who was, and is, busy trying to cook elections with new rules and redistricting, state-by-state, with the stated purpose of electing more Democrats.
“Basically, everything that was your worst imagination of what was happening seems to be coming true,” he said. He agreed with what we’ve been saying for years, that everything Democrats accuse Republicans of doing is what they, the Democrats, are doing. If you want to know what they’re up to, your first clue is the fake stories they tell about the GOP.
Adams had checked CNN’s home page and, sure enough, the story wasn’t there, not even a little bit. Same with MSNBC. They’d tossed that file down the memory hole. And Democrats get away with this, because their audience watches only them. As if Democrats would ever tune in to Fox News to find out what’s going on!
So, what DID CNN talk about Sunday morning? Main story on their home page: More on Joe Rogan and the n-word, with an opinion piece linking the fact that Rogan’s still on the air with the January 6 insurrection, saying both of these things tear at the fabric of our country. Not kidding.
(NOTE: For an update, we looked at the CNN home page late Sunday night. The Durham story still was not there, but we did learn that Team Fluff had won the Puppy Bowl.)
“They’re ‘disappearing’ a gigantic story, successfully...It’s mind-boggling,” Adams said, describing the scandal as “a Hillary Clinton insurrection against the government.”
As a palate-cleanser after that sad observation about the state of “journalism,” I’d like to leave you with an incredible piece of in-depth investigative reporting that explains just what “The Swamp” is, how it came to be, and how our government is now structured to incorporate what is essentially the fourth branch of government --- the “Intelligence Branch” --- which appears to be running the show. They’re not even accountable to the President, as they choose what intelligence to share with the White House. Please, when you can, make some time to take all of this in. It might be the biggest wake-up call for our country that I have ever read.
