Happy Mother’s Day weekend, everyone! Even if you can’t visit your mom, you can call her on the phone, tell her you love her, and remind her that a great way to feel as if you’re all together is for the whole family to watch “Huckabee” tonight on TBN! My guests will include comedian/talk show host Dave Rubin, who will explains why liberals have become so intolerant. On that theme, Georgia State Rep. Vernon Jones will tell us about the vicious backlash he endured just for being a black Democrat who supports Trump. ABC medical correspondent Dr. Jennifer Ashton will have tips on things we can do on our own to stay healthy. Pastor Robby Gallaty will share his stunning and truly miraculous life story. We’ll also share lots of laughs with comic/impressionist Scott Wood, and cap it off with a classic tune from country music superstar, Crystal Gayle.
All that and more is ahead, tonight at 8 and 11 EST, 7 and 10 CST, and the same times on Sunday, only on TBN. To find where you can watch TBN, from local cable and broadcast channels to streaming, visit https://www.tbn.org/huckabee and click on the “WATCH” menu at the top. You can also stream previous episodes, highlights and Internet-only “Digital Exclusives,” like extended interviews and extra performances by our musical and comedy guests. THE CASE AGAINST LT. GEN. FLYNN
We’ll get into this all in much more detail on Monday, but for now, just know that like “Russian Collusion,” the entire case against Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn has been exposed as an outrageous frame-up, one for which the plotters should not only lose their jobs and be sent to jail, but also sued to restore some of the terrible cost they imposed on Flynn, who lost his job, his home, his reputation and his life savings defending himself.
With this week’s jaw-dropping, too-long-delayed document dump, we know now that the original notes of Flynn’s talk with the FBI agents showed he did not lie to them but simply said he couldn’t remember if he had talked about sanctions with a Russian official or not. That document was reportedly altered so that he could be charged with lying to the FBI.
We also know, thanks to the release of all the testimony to Rep. Adam Schiff’s House “Intelligence” Committee (I have to use quotation marks when referring to intelligence and Schiff in the same sentence), not one Obama official would say under oath that they had any evidence of collusion between Trump’s people and Russia.
This included people who have made careers of claiming that very thing on anti-Trump media outlets such as MSNBC. They were just flat-out lying.
And of course, the biggest liar of them has been Schiff, who is notorious for claiming to have evidence of crimes that he never produces, but who outdid himself by claiming adamantly that the testimony contained “direct evidence” of Trump and his people colluding with Russia, when it actually contained the opposite. The well-deserved blasting of Schiff included Tucker Carlson declaring Schiff to be a “sociopath” who “will do or say anything to achieve power” and who is unfit to hold office, and calling for his resignation.
Good luck with that! He’d had to have a conscience or some sense of shame, and he’s a sociopath.
Of course, the biggest revelation in all this, and one we’ll get into in detail later, is the emerging evidence that President Obama was aware of and personally involved in this political weaponizing of the Justice Department and the railroading of an innocent man. Yet Obama had the stunning gall to piously claim that dropping the charges against Flynn showed that “the rule of law is at risk.”
No, sir: the rule of law is finally being restored. Stay tuned…
SAFER AT HOME?
Most states have begun allowing businesses to reopen, and with people distancing themselves six feet apart, I’m sure the lines in front of barber shops must stretch for miles. But there are still a handful of states where officials seem to expect people to stay in their rooms until they go bankrupt and get evicted, and the people there have had enough of it. Americans are not a people who will remain idle and take orders for long, which bodes well for us never becoming the socialist nation Bernie and AOC dream of. In those states, there is growing unrest and widespread civil disobedience, although it’s a funny kind of “civil disobedience” when people just want to go to work.
And my favorite protest: all the church leaders who told California Gov. Gavin Newsom that they will defy his ruling and go back to holding services by Pentecost on May 31. If he doesn’t like it, he can try arresting all of them, and since that’s 3,000 churches representing 2.5 million congregants, he’d better have a lot of prison space ready.
As one pastor put it, “Our churches are part of the answer, not part of the problem. We’re an essential part of this whole journey and we’ve been bypassed…kicked to the curb and deemed nonessential.” I would add that they’ve also had their essential First Amendment rights egregiously violated, even when they were taking extreme safety precautions to prevent the spread of the virus.
Many of the protesters and business owners (often one and the same) are pointing out the folly of keeping entire states shut down when the COVID-19 (Chinese) coronavirus cases are concentrated in only a few densely-populated areas. A similar argument was already made on the national level, with people questioning why, say, Wyoming should be shut down when the vast majority of cases are in New York? Now, it’s down to the state level, which I guess is progress.
One of the worst explanations for why these lockdowns are dragging on long past the point when both the “curve” and the economy have been flattened came from deservedly embattled Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. She announced that she will allow manufacturing workers, such as auto workers, to return to work Monday, but she extended the stay-at-home order for everyone else for a fourth time to May 28, because, as she put it, we are “safer at home” (never mind that we just learned that 66% of new hospitalizations in New York were people who had sheltered at home.) Of course, you could also argue that you’d be safer at home than in your car or on an airplane, but life consists of choices, risks and trade-offs, and here in America, we trust people to be adults and deal with them responsibly. Hiding in your room was never meant to be a permanent solution. Life itself is a terminal condition: nobody gets out of it alive.
TOO MUCH FREEDOM?
Last night, I was on “The Ingraham Angle” on Fox News to again offer my modest proposal: no official who imposes or endorses a lockdown that orders other people to stay home and not earn a paycheck should receive a paycheck until the lockdown ends. That would move this along a lot faster. I also discussed America and police states I’ve visited, and how some people here don’t seem to understand the difference. Here is video of that appearance if you missed it:
Speaking of people who think the big problem in America today is people exercising too much freedom, New York City Mayor Bill DeBlasio has found some more parts of the First Amendment he’d like to get rid of, like the right of the people to assemble and to petition the government for redress of grievances.
DeBlasio’s Police Commissioner agrees with his ban on protests. The always outspoken Kurt Schlichter has a warning for police departments that side with officials and help impose unreasonable edicts. It won’t end well, if they want to keep the support of the public. He also notes the irony that May 4th was the 50 anniversary of the shootings of student protesters at Kent State University. Back then, it was a rallying cry for the left to demand the right to protest and denounce armed authorities. Now, they’re banning protests and demanding that only government authorities should be allowed to have firearms.
(PS – I’d like you to note that the specific protest mentioned in the article was LGBT activists protesting that Samaritan’s Purse opened a free hospital to treat coronavirus patients. Even though I think that is possibly the stupidest protest in history, I am still defending their right to protest. Both protesting and making a complete idiot of yourself in public are cherished American freedoms.)
