The mainstream media will paint the firing of former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe as a politically-motivated hit job, but it isn’t one.

Attorney Gen. Jeff Sessions acted on a recommendation from the FBI’s Office Of Professional Responsibility --- their version of an internal affairs office --- that McCabe be fired less than two days before his official retirement (he’s been on leave since January). The recommendation came after they were provided with allegations of his misconduct from the Inspector General’s office. For such a high-level official to be fired after 21 years of service suggests that his transgressions are considered extremely serious. Indeed, the accusation that he deceived the Inspector General while under oath seems awfully similar to the charges made against former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn. No one in the mainstream media is crying for Flynn, who, according to his questioners, willingly submitted to an interview without a lawyer present and may not even have lied.

McCabe has put out a statement that no doubt will be trumpeted by CNN and MSNBC, reading in part: “This attack on my credibility is one part of a larger effort not just to slander me personally, but to taint the FBI, law enforcement, and intelligence professionals generally. It is part of this Administration’s ongoing war on the FBI and the efforts of the Special Counsel investigation, which continue to this day. Their persistence in this campaign only highlights the importance of the Special Counsel’s work.”

Au contraire. Though McCabe had enjoyed a longtime reputation for high ethical standards, after he got to the “seventh floor,” he undermined his own credibility in many ways, not the least of which was the one he was ostensibly fired for. If anyone has tainted the FBI, it is he and his cohorts who were using their positions as “intelligence professionals” to MEDDLE WITH OUR ELECTION. (Who needs Russia to meddle when we’ve got our own high-level bureaucrats to do it?) The IG has no doubt had an opportunity to assess the performance of McCabe and the others who were doing this and will be issuing massive reports soon. Here’s just a sampling of McCabe’s transgressions –- a few that we know so far:

Commentary continues below advertisement

He is found to have lied to the IG.

He allowed two FBI officials to leak to the media about the ongoing investigation into the Clinton Foundation.

He failed to disclose the huge conflict of interest resulting from his wife’s Hillary-connected campaign contributions, and then he stalled in recusing himself from the Hillary investigation.

He apparently conspired with Peter Strzok and Lisa Page on the “insurance policy” to keep Trump out of office.

He was one of the officials tweaking the memo absolving Hillary Clinton of mishandling classified emails before she had even been interviewed.

He knew about the specific political origin of the Steele “dossier” but didn’t disclose it to the FISA court.

Like fired FBI Director James Comey, McCabe sounds enormously self-righteous in his own defense. He’s claiming to have been “singled out,” but he doesn’t have much of a case. It turns out that the FBI has terminated 19 employees for “lack of candor” since March of 2017. None of them were even under oath at the time. McCabe just happens to be the most high-profile one.

Predictably, Democrats are already saying this firing shows the President is obstructing justice, even though this was something handled internally at the FBI. McCabe will undoubtedly try to turn this into a partisan war in order to avoid prosecution and regain his pension. He’ll say the timing was suspect, but it seems to have had more to do with the timing of the IG reports. Sure the President wanted him gone –- with good reason –-but he did NOT cause it. Lots of people, including some lower-level FBI agents whose expressions of frustration have been conveyed to reporters, thought McCabe should go.

Some are saying this is “a sad day for the country.” It isn’t one. A little of the murk just got drained out of the swamp, that’s all, and there’s a lot more to go. The news of McCabe’s firing comes on the same day we learn of more texts between Peter Strzok and Lisa Page in which they talk about setting up cocktails or a “dinner party” with a newly-appointed FISA judge, Rudolph Contreras, who happened to be a friend of Strzok. Judge Contreras presided in the Michael Flynn case but recused himself with no explanation--- after Flynn pleaded guilty.

Political opinions that turn to predjudice creep into the psychic rotting the performance as their ego self righteousness defends it. Then inevitable consequence to their deeds of stepping off their path of unprejudiced performance into the karma swamp becomes their grave of penance!

I agree with Governor Huckabee and McCabe should have been fired months ago for collusion and obstruction of justice along with Comey and Rodenstein. Did you know that Judge Nap suggested that what Trump did was obstruction of justice and vindictive?
Do you think Mueller will be more aggressive in his pursuit to destroy President Trump since his friend got fired?

Thanks Mr. Huckabee for keeping we the people informed with what is really happening in our government. It is so confusing because the media only reports what they want you to believe, not all the truth.

I have discovered your TV show on Saturday nights in my area. I enjoy watching the show, very informative and entertaining. So nice to watch a show that does not have hate and violence, and actually makes one laugh and feel like there is still hope for this world! The media has taken off all the shows worth watching.

I couldn't agree with your assessment of Andrew McCabe's firing, the reasons for and the likely ensuing aftermath. I agree this is a great day for our country and the draining of the swamp has just begun. Additional "draining of the swamp" is sure to follow following the release of the Inspector General's report. Thank you Mr. Huckabee for your pragmatic assessment and insight of today's political environment.

I have been baffled by the transgressions of some of the people in both the FBI and the DOJ and how they had seemingly "gotten away with it", tarnishing the credibility of both those agencies. I'm sure the rank and file of both agencies are relieved that the upper echelon have not gotten away with the politicalization that's occurred.

Brennan in his comments about McCabe is trying to defend the man and to tell how President Trump was corrupt. If you study Brennan's comments he is really confirming that he was in on the corruption by the Obama administration from the get-go. If Trump was corrupt, then Brennan of all people was in a position to know and to act. If fact it would have been criminal for him not to act, yet he did nothing until after the election. Brennan is confirming there was nothing there before the election, after the election and that he is a member of the deep-state foolishness.

It is about time to Drain The Swamp. There are others in the FBI that need to be fired. This is just been going on your too long. Hillary Clinton needs to be brought to justice for lying. Others in the FBI need to be looked at for alleged misconduct and fired. This goes back to J. Edgar Hoover who was reported to have files on far too many people, people that should not have had a file on them.

This is a black mark on the many agents that strive to do good and make this country better.

First off never hear you speak of term limits one question why? Congress and all in Washington are hand in hand where were they for eight years that Obama was in office. What a mess I have doubts the swamp will ever be drained unless we see Hillary and others like her in court and in jail. Maybe the mire is so deep it will never be clean again. I read where one lady was talking about a time when all us hard working Americans have had enough and at 73 I may never see that day but then again I feel like it is very near. Also anyone knows if they have any sense at all that we need the draft back so a lot of these young people will know what it is like to serve their country instead of trying to milk it dry. O.K. off my stump and back to doing what my wife and I have for years trying to keep going and praying things change. Have a good day sir.

    Good comment, thank you!

I can only add that I hope the DoJ IG also "followed the money" with Mr. McCabe:

Andrew McCabe's reported net worth >$10 million. Two houses, 4 cars (including an S-Class Mercedes-Benz, a new $310,000 Audi, and a Range Rover), and an annual income of ~$1.4 million.

Methinks McCabe doth protest too much.....

For Huck's sake, man, get a grip. Huck, you're a bass player, right? Bass players are known for their humility. Your self-righteous tone is unbecoming of the bass clef you are sworn to uphold and protect. You really should be ashamed of yourself. The thing is, I think you're probably smart, which is even worse, because it means that you're knowingly defending these jackals. Choosing to be on the wrong side of history is your prerogative, but defending our p*ssy-grabber-in-chief is indefensible, especially for a man of your Christian convictions. Huck, it's not too late to repent. Grow a conscience, please.

I'm extremely happy that finally someone is being held slightly accountable. I wrote emails and made phone calls to the DOJ and the White House asking that he be fired. I feel he should be prosecuted and along with Comey, Strzok, Page, Ohr and many others should be in jail. Bad enough they lied, but they also interfered with our election and then tried to destroy President Trump with the Mueller investigation, leaks etc. There can't be two systems of justice which is what happened with Hillary Clinton. She alsos must be held accountable. We are tired of this happening. It seems you can commit crimes if you are a Dem and have a high level government job.

Finally someone has had to pay for his misdeeds. He should have been fired a long time ago. He is just a little smear in draining the swamp. I believe there are many in congress that are just as bad if not worse. Then there is still the FBI, DOJ and maybe the CIA. I pray for a day that we can trust our government. We have made it to easy for them to pad their pockets and pad the voting.

Over 35 years ago there was a popular bumper sticker, 'I don't believe the liberal media'. I believe our media is more controlled and dishonest than Tass (Russia), or any other dictatorship. For the first time in my life, I believe we have a president who is aware of the corruption in government and media and is willing to stand up to it.
Regarding Andrew McCabe's '20 years of stellar service to our country', we have had to suffer with many corrupt bureaucrats who have been on the public dole for longer than that. Bill and Hillary are only two other examples of many more. We have prayed for a long time that God would manifest the truth and purge us of corrupt politicians, bureaucrats, and media. I believe He is just starting and I hope it continues.

McCabe and the others should have gotten the axe months ago. In fact the ones that slithered their way out with benefits need to repay those benefits to the Government. Judge Contreras needs to have any and all cases he presided over dismissed for prejudice.

Right now, I feel the Mueller Investigation needs to submit to an audit, because deep in my Gut, I feel something is a miss there.

Thankfully. Maybe AG Sessions has come alive from his apparent slumber, shaken off the binds of fear about the Left-wing propaganda machines and their smear tactics, and, as we Marines like to say, "found a pair...". Next, hopefully, more housecleaning of a terribly-compromised FBI and Justice Department, the removal of some of the worst of the remaining Obama loyalists who set traps for the Trump Administration's efforts to turn our nation's destructive paths around. We voted for a reason, not as much for the man as the hope to slow or stop our descent into a Third World ignominy. That was the entire legacy of the Obama era, and should be emblazoned onto every patriotic American's mind going forward. We are truly at the brink, as a consequence of those eight years. The proof is right in front of us, daily. God continue to bless and keep the U.S. from that kind of harm.

Thank you for the concise view on McCabe's firing which was so justified. The concerning issue I have with the FBI is that they have too much power. Very much like the IRS.
This isn't the first time the FBI has covered up a crime.
But no one seems to care. For instance on Orangeburg SC in I believe in1968 a shooting at a black college. I think the Waco massacre at the cult of David Koresh where children died. As well as adults.

I agree that he should be fired BEFORE his official retirement date. HE has done all he could to UNDERMINE the INTEGRITY of the FBI and Law Enforcement and Intel communities. Not the Trump Admin.
He failed in his duties to do his job in a professional manor and with NO POLITICAL agendas. That and no speaking the truth while under oath, meant zip to him.

And as usual when they are caught in falsehoods they throw the blame at the Trump Administration. Thus further undermining the goal of the Trump Administration to #MAGA.
This mess coupled with the failure of the GOP in Congress and the Senate to fill appointment vacancies. Those are currently be tended by Obama Admin hold overs that further continue to undermine the Trump Admin.
I am betting that, Mr McCabe even earned some gratuities from helping the Clinton Campaign. He will survive losing his pension.

At least it's a start, one down and many to go. I live in Missouri. I am a white, female, CCW carrier, Christian, volunteer in my community, take "care" of our own and try very hard to live and let live, believer in the sanctity of life ALL LIFE, Republican, Trump voting conservative. Personally???? I am tired of being told I live in a "fly over state, I'm deplorable, I can't vote on my own without a man telling me WHO to vote for, I'm backward, live in a state that could be called divisive, am privileged due to the color of my skin and that my religious beliefs are hogwash. I'm tired of having my GOD ripped out of our schools, public places, government and that if I hear God "speak" to me (and He often lays a LOT on my heart and convicts me.....believe me, I hear that) that I have a mental illness. I raised 3 boys on my own, worked 3 jobs to do it, didn't get a college education (neither did my boys but 2 are Plumbers and one is a Mechanic) and because of that I'm "ignorant". Let's just say that I am not ignorant enough to know that if the Democrats keep this up there will be a civil uprising of folks just like me the likes of Pelosi, Obama, Clinton, Schiff, Schumer and numerous other Democrats have never seen.

There is a slow, deep rumble happening right now....and it is spreading through all of our "flyover" states....the rumbling is coming from us ignorant, gun carrying, bible thumping, God hearing (and fearing), pro-life, privileged people and somebody had better pay very close attention to it!

McCabe got and will continue (I hope) to get everything he's got coming to him....because you know as well as I do had it been us they would toss us in jail and throw out the key. His "angst" means nothing to me, not a darn thing.

Good riddance to bad rubbish! They say 'A FISH STARTS TO ROT FROM THE HEAD'....and that's what has been happening to the FBI under the Rezenstein/Comey/McCabe leadership! Next, fire Rozenstein and then Mueller that lodestone of a witch-hunt in search of a crime....ANY CRIME HE CAN PIN ON TRUMP! The Democrat strategy is apparent - keep Trump busy fighting fires and leaks and Mueller for as long as possible - and then blame him for lack of accomplishing anything! Well, we the people are a bit too smart for that nonsense. It will behoove all of us to start setting some jail-time examples for all these FBI pseudo political practitioners and Democrat Party law violators like H. (and Bill) Clinton et al! Maybe then we'll get some law-abidance in government and the "Swamp Will Start To Be Drained"
Any citizen like me who is not brain-washed by the Main Street Media (or, BRAINDEAD) will see this too and vote preferentially for a RESPECTABLE, SMART, CONSERVATIVE, REPUBLICAN candidate in 2018 & 2020....Thanking you for all the good work you do Mike

It is about time! We knew for a long time there was a "fox in the hen house". These positions demand the highest of quality standards and ethics in our country! If we hold our military staff to the task and expect good and fair justice for every person, then it is only far too long that we have not taken this appropriate action against this high ranking official. Let the chips fall where they may.
