On Wednesday, I pointed you to John Solomon’s ‘preview of coming attractions,’ his list of 10 areas of declassification in the FBI’s investigation into phony Trump/Russian “collusion” that would likely, as he put it, “rock Washington.” In his Wednesday podcast, Dan Bongino called Solomon’s list a roadmap to what we can anticipate coming out. And it’s devastating. He offered his quick take on each item on the list.
First, we have the materials known as “1023” reports, which document everything that Christopher Steele and the FBI exchanged with each other during their contacts. In other words, it’s not just what Steele gave the FBI, but also what the FBI gave HIM. To boil this down, it’s possible that the FBI was actually briefing Steele on “Crossfire Hurricane,” feeding information that may have come from other sources, which meant that Steele –- who wasn’t even an American, and that brings in the matter of actual “collusion” with foreigners –- was in a position to pass this classified information about their investigation of Trump to Fusion GPS (through Bruce and Nellie Ohr) and ultimately to Hillary’s campaign and the DNC (same thing) during the election season. Unbelievable.

Recall that news reports of the FBI investigating Trump’s ties to Russia were coming out very late in the campaign, just a week before the election, and labeled an “October surprise.” So, how would the media get hold of that potentially highly damaging and perfectly timed information? If it was leaked through Steele after he got it from the FBI, that would mean the FBI, indirectly through Steele, might have had an impact on votes in a presidential election. Talk about “meddling.”
According to Solomon, the FBI has released only two of these reports. This was in response to FOIA requests, and the reports were 100 percent redacted. Some release.
The second item on Solomon’s list includes 53 still-classified House interviews, some of which, according to his sources, reveal that a lawyer working with the DNC (the speculation is it’s Michael Sussman) had Russia-related contacts at the CIA. Sussman had a relationship with top FBI attorney James Baker, who was involved in getting the FISA warrants approved. This evidence makes for good dot-connecting between Democrat political figures and U.S. intel/law enforcement figures. As Bongino quipped, “This makes Cuba look like the God-given rights capital of the known universe.”
The third item on the list includes documents concerning Stefan Halper, a U.S. intelligence asset (SPY), and I’m aware that at this time, some readers feel like dropping off, as the story feels too big and unwieldy. But stay with me; this guy spied on associates of the Trump campaign. These documents will reveal which intel agencies worked with Halper, how much he was paid, who directed him, etc. Solomon’s sources tell him that some documents show Halper actually worked his way into the Trump team during and AFTER the transition, reaching as high as Trump advisors such as Peter Navarro in the summer of 2017. That’s right --- in the White House. If this is true (and Solomon hasn’t been wrong so far), then the outgoing Obama administration had a mole spying on the new administration.
Oh, there’s much more. We’re awaiting declassification of an FBI/DOJ email chain from November of 2016 that shows them discussing the various concerns they had about the Steele “dossier.” If those concerns weren’t conveyed to the judges who ended up granting the FISA warrant application (and three renewals) to spy on Carter Page, that is doubleplusungood.
The next item is something we’ve talked about: evidence that George Papadopoulos made exculpatory statements to the undercover agents (SPIES) talking to him, saying that the Trump campaign had not tried to obtain hacked Democrat documents from the Russian government and that to do so would be treason. If intel agents (SPIES) recorded him saying that and it was not conveyed to the FISA court, again, doubleplusungood.
Next, we have the briefing materials from a year ago, supplied by the FBI and DOJ to the congressional Gang Of Eight. These “identify shortcomings in the Russia collusion narrative” and, according to Solomon, changed the minds of some members of Congress who initially were skeptical about FISA abuse.
There’s also that spreadsheet the FBI put together on the Steele “dossier,” showing all its claims and rating them for reliability. Solomon’s sources have told him the FBI found that over 90 percent of Steele’s information could not be corroborated, was debunked, or turned out to be nothing more than open-source internet rumors. (I would add that Nellie Ohr was a specialist in gathering open-source materials.)
Also on the list is IG Horowitz’s approximately 16-hour interview with Christopher Steele. Some of what they must have covered, such as his political motivations, is already known, but according to Solomon’s sources, he was grilled specifically about his contacts within the FBI while working with Fusion GPS.
Another key ingredient: the still-redacted portions of the third FISA renewal signed by Rod Rosenstein and used to carry on the surveillance for several more months after Trump was sworn in as President. Solomon has been told that this includes information from a source the FBI had already interviewed and deemed untrustworthy, and also evidence of the tactics used by the government –- I’m assuming through spies such as Stefan Halper –- to infiltrate the Trump team.
Last on the list are the records of allies’ assistance in the plot. We know this happened, and, as Bill Barr said after seeing this evidence, “The use of foreign intelligence capabilities against an American political campaign, to me, is unprecedented and it’s a serious red line that’s been crossed.”
Just look at all this. What happened in our country is monstrous. Can you believe that most major media treat it like a conspiracy theory and won’t even cover it? Journalism is, for the most part, dead, and we can only hope it will rise again like Lazarus, though we know that will take a lot longer than three days. (And surely it stinketh.) Most journalists will be happy if the above information is NEVER declassified. That’s the opposite of what a real reporter would want.
I know some are worried that much of this might not be declassified (see link below), but I don’t think it’s going to work out that way. Investigative reporter and author Gregg Jarrett agrees, saying this on Wednesday’s HANNITY: “You know, if Christopher Wray...and the intel chiefs had their way, everything would be hidden and covered up, and concealed from the American public. AG Barr’s not gonna allow that to happen; we know it already because, look what did he did with the Mueller report. Almost immediately, he made nearly all of it public. He’s dedicated to honesty and transparency, and that’ll follow through here. So when Lindsay Graham says –- and he’s not prone to hyperbole and exaggeration –- when he says this is gonna be ‘ugly and devastating’ for Obama administration officials and Comey’s FBI, he knows it already.”
