It would hardly seem like news if I told you that CNN was getting blasted for airing a false and misleading story that made President Trump look bad.  And it was even about Russia.  But here’s the fresh part: the blasting of CNN didn’t come from Trump.  CNN’s story was so full of holes and so misleading that the CIA blasted them over it, and even the New York Times ran a bombshell report exposing its falsehoods.

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/cia-slams-faulty-cnn-narrative-slams-misguided-reporting-on-russian-double-agents-alleged-exfiltration

As noted at the link, CNN claimed that “the CIA had pulled a high-level spy out of Russia because President Trump had ‘repeatedly mishandled classified intelligence and could contribute to exposing the covert source as a spy.’"  In fact, as the Times reported, the CIA decided in 2016 to offer to extract the source from Russia, months before Trump even took office.

You know, if CNN wants a real scoop for a change, I could tell them the name of a very high level government official of that era who was using an unsecured private email server that was almost surely hacked by the Russians, giving Putin access to classified US documents that might easily have included the identities of our covert sources, putting their lives at risk.  Would CNN like to know who that was?  Nah, if it wasn’t Trump or someone on his staff, I’m sure they wouldn’t be interested.

I occasionally like to remind people (although it wasn’t that long ago, it sure seems like it) that advocates for same-sex marriage once argued that if you had religious objections, you wouldn’t be engaging in any same-sex marriages, so you had no reason to oppose legalizing it since the issue would never affect you personally.

Yet the ink had barely dried on the Supreme Court’s decision before activists and blue state and city authorities were targeting Christian business owners to force them to violate their religious beliefs by taking part in same-sex marriages or else face fines, bankruptcy and even jail. All this was based on the false and slanderous premise that holding the Biblical view that homosexuality is a sin means you “hate” gay people. That’s a foul distortion of what Christianity is about. Christians do not “hate” anybody.  Christians believe you should “love thy neighbor;” you may hate the sin, but you should love the sinner.

But when amplified by an incredibly biased media hostile to traditional religious beliefs, this “Christianity = homophobic hate” lie became the prevailing narrative.  It soon expanded from attacking opponents of same-sex marriage to attacking anyone who didn’t wholeheartedly embrace the entire radical LGBTQ-etc. agenda, right down to letting guys in dresses lurk in ladies’ locker rooms and crush girls in school sports.

And so we’ve seen mounting attacks on America’s favorite fast food chain, Chick-fil-A because their charity arm donates to such infamous fascist hate groups as the Salvation Army and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.  The hysteria over Chick-fil-A has reached almost comic levels, to the point that not even Canadians can bring themselves to show respect anymore for the protesters’ overheated antics.

https://www.redstate.com/sister-toldjah/2019/09/06/video-unhinged-die-held-toronto-chick-fil-interrupted-hungry-customers-stepping-protesters/

We’re finally seeing the backlash against this clear infringement on First Amendment rights reach official levels.  The leftist city government of San Antonio (once presided over by Democratic presidential candidate Julian Castro, who supports his brother’s attempt to publicly shame and threaten Trump supporters out of exercising their rights as well) blocked Chick-fil-A from opening an outlet at the airport. In response, the Texas state government passed a law to prevent local authorities from abusing their power to persecute religious business owners for their beliefs.

Now, the first lawsuit has been filed under the “Save Chick-fil-A Bill,” against the city of San Antonio.  And not by Chick-fil-A: the plaintiffs are five Texans who frequent the airport and have been deprived of their right to eat at Chick-fil-A (hey, liberals love inventing new civil rights, so don’t complain.  This at least sounds like a reasonable one.)  The lawsuit asks the court for a series of injunctions against San Antonio to require them to install a Chick-fil-A in the airport, block any further targeting of the chain for its founders’ beliefs, and pay all the plaintiffs’ legal fees.

A spokesman for the Texas Values Coalition says this is just the first of many lawsuits they expect to file against San Antonio, and "If you thought we were bluffing, now you know we’re not."

I’m not a great fan of endless, expensive litigation.  I wish people could settle their differences by talking and trying to understand the other person’s point of view rather than demonizing the other side and weaponizing the law.  But it wasn’t Christian business owners who targeted LGBTQ activists.  When you start a culture war, you have to expect that at some point, the people you’re attacking will start fighting back, using the same weapons you aimed at them, like the legal system.

Unfortunately, this case is limited to Texas, a red state that passed a law protecting freedom of religious expression in its liberal cities.  It would be great if we didn’t have to depend on states to pass such laws, because that should be protected everywhere by the First Amendment. If the attacks on religious business owners keep coming, then the Supreme Court will eventually have no choice but to stop dithering around the edges and clarify the giant muddle they made by creating a right to same-sex marriage and not making it clear that it is unconstitutional to try to force everyone to embrace it at the expense of the primary First Amendment right to freedom of religion.

Or LGBTQ activists and their supporters could just try adopting the “live and let live” attitude that they promised they would observe before they launched this culture war in the first place.

--------------------------------------

Speaking of the left’s favorite weapon (the court system) being turned against them, there are other examples in the news.  For instance, the conservative cable news network One America News (OAN) is suing NBC, MSNBC, parent company Comcast and Rachel Maddow for $10 million for defamation.

https://www.westernjournal.com/conservative-news-outlet-oann-files-10-million-lawsuit-rachel-maddow-nbc/

In attempting to discredit the network, which is supportive of President Trump, Maddow said on-air that OAN is “really, literally Russian propaganda” because one contributor also writes for Sputnik, a Russian government-owned news site based in Moscow. OAN replied that the contributor has no control over OAN content, and the writer affirmed that he just writes freelance articles on finance for Sputnik reflecting his own views and choice of subject and has never written propaganda or false information.

OAN gave Maddow and MSNBC a deadline to retract the claim, and when it passed, they filed suit. Ironically, if everything is as they say, then one could make a convincing argument that by rabidly promoting the Russian collusion hoax for two years, sowing huge divisions among Americans and distrust in the American electoral system, Rachel Maddow and MSNBC spewed more propaganda that helped promote Russia’s anti-American interests than this guy could have if he actually were an agent of the Kremlin.

And in another court decision to bum out the left, the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the 30-day prison sentence given to a neighbor who attacked and viciously beat Republican Sen. Rand Paul was “substantively unreasonable” in its leniency.

https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/sixth-circuit-30-day-sentence-for-rand-paul-attacker-is-too-lenient

Click the link to read how badly Paul was injured in the attack (he needed surgery to remove part of his lung.) The recommended sentence was 21 months, and the maximum for assaulting a Congress member is 10 years.  But the lower court went incredibly easy on him, ruling that it was an “isolated, first-time action” (so how many freebie assaults on a Senator do you get before there are serious consequences?) and because of his “excellent background,” meaning his education, family and community service.

Many on the left cheered when Paul's assailant got off so easy. Ironically, the Appeals Court found that going easy on him because of his background created a two-tiered justice system in which people with “privilege” get off easier – exactly the sort of thing leftists claim to hate.  So they should now be cheering that Paul’s assailant may face harsher punishment.

Funny, I don’t hear the cheering anymore…

There is simply no end to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s fields of expertise.  Having lectured us on everything from economics to immigration to guns (she even knows Dan Crenshaw's friends and relatives better than he does), she’s now morphed into a meteorologist.  Tweeting out video of the devastation in the Bahamas, she wrote, “This is what climate change looks like: it hits vulnerable communities first. I can already hear climate deniers screeching: ‘It’s always been like this! You’re dim,’ etc.  No. This is about science & leadership. We either decarbonize & cut emissions, or we don’t & let people die.”

Again, I don’t know what a “climate denier” is, since I’ve never met anyone who denies that there’s a climate, or even that it changes.  But yes, in fact it has always been like this in places like the Bahamas, which rest in an area that has long been called “Hurricane Alley” because that’s where hurricanes form.

At this link, actual climate expert Bjorn Lomborg unpacks some of the nonsense, including the fact that only three major hurricanes stronger than a Category 3 have hit the continental US in the last 13 years.  That’s the lowest rate since 1900 and well below the average of eight during the same time frame, despite the increased CO2 emissions.

https://www.westernjournal.com/aoc-gets-blasted-legendary-environmentalist-lies-hurricanes-global-warming/

This is not what climate change looks like.  It’s what a hurricane looks like when, by pure bad luck, it happens to cross over a populated island with poorly-constructed infrastructure. And her tweet is what it looks like when politicians attempt to use misinformation to exploit a tragedy and promote their political agendas.

Excellent observation: Jennifer Wright at the New York Post reports on Mattel bowing to feminists by releasing a series of “female heroine” Barbie dolls such as Sally Ride, Rosa Parks and Frida Kahlo to inspire little girls…and then points out that in the real world, most little girls torture their Barbies.  So how will liberal parents react when they see these feminist heroine dolls getting melted in the oven or having their heads ripped off and stuck on Christmas tree lights?  Prepare to be triggered!

News from the “Sanctuary City” party:  In Baltimore County, Maryland, six of seven people charged in the brutal stabbing death of a 21-year-old man have been identified as members of the vicious MS-13 gang.  That’s the gang President Trump was referring to when he called its members “animals,” and Democrats have falsely claimed ever since that he was referring to all Mexicans.  It’s believed that they stabbed the victim to death because he made a hand gesture that appeared to be associated with another gang.

https://www.foxnews.com/us/ms13-gang-members-illegal-immigrants-maryland-stabbing-deadly-ice

This comes just about six months after five MS-13 gang members were arrested, also in Maryland, for allegedly stabbing a 16-year-old fellow member 100 times and dumping his body in Virginia, where they set it on fire.

But for Heaven’s sakes, don’t call them animals, or you’ll be blasted as a xenophobe by people like the authorities in Montgomery County, Maryland.  It’s the “sanctuary county” where seven illegal immigrants have been arrested just since July 25th on charges of rape and sexual assault, including a previously-deported illegal alien who allegedly sexually assaulted his own stepdaughter.

So who is to blame for protecting these violent criminals from federal authorities and turning them loose to prey on American citizens, or as county authorities phrase it, promoting “understanding, tolerance, and respect” and “social justice for all”?  If you guessed that means that the real villains are President Trump, conservative news outlets that dared to report the story and some vaguely-defined group of “neo-Nazi sympathizers,” then congratulations.  You speak perfect leftist gibberish circa 2019.

But on the good news front, despite the Democrats’ best efforts, illegal border crossings fell by nearly half in August, after President Trump signed a deal with Mexico to interdict migrant “caravans” before they get to the US border.  For those who do make it across the border, here’s a helpful hint: Maryland is to the north and east.

New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees was savaged by leftists and LGBTQ activists for making a promotional video for “Take Your Bible to School Day” because it was produced by Focus on the Family (another Christian group falsely labeled as a homophobic hate group for not fully embracing the LGBTQ political agenda.)

I admired Drew a lot for filming that video and was sorry to see him backtrack and distance himself from Focus on the Family after coming under assault from the baying Twitter hordes.  He should have known that apologizing does nothing but signal weakness and capitulation and encourage even more attacks and demands.  This is why I only apologize when I think I’ve done something I should apologize for, not when some amped-up Twitter mob calls me names online and demands an apology.  I continue urging people to take the same attitude and discover how freeing it can be when you just don’t care what a bunch of anonymous radical idiots say about you on their Twitter feeds that nobody in their right mind reads.

At the link is an excellent essay about the Brees story and the larger lesson it holds about the dangers of capitulating to those who try to make you renounce your faith.  It’s by Illinois Lutheran pastor Hans Fiene.  It’s a long read, but very worthwhile.  I hope you’ll read it, and I really hope Drew Brees will read it.

Fact-Checking the “Fact-Checkers”:  Sorry, PolitiFact, but President Trump was correct when he said that Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam talked about how, after a baby is born, the mother would talk to the doctors and make a decision about whether it lives. Here’s the direct quote and a video of him saying it.  And that’s an actual fact, Jack:

Profiles in Obtuseness: A liberal writer at the Daily Beast thinks he’s nailed President Trump as a hypocrite because he publicly denounces socialism but reportedly expresses concerns in private that it might be politically popular.

https://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2019/09/press_completely_opaque_to_trumps_grip_on_socialism.html

Really, that’s hypocrisy?  He should give me a call; I’ll send him a long list of things that I think are idiotic and dangerous yet politically popular.

What if a bunch of radical leftists called a big protest to impeach Trump in Washington, DC, and nobody came?

That’s not the set-up to a joke: they really did call for an impeach Trump protest and nobody showed up. Guess they didn’t promise any free handouts. House Democrats who are pushing impeachment might want to ponder that level of public support.

Click the link for the full story and a photo of the “protest.”  On the bright side, there won’t be any controversy about how many people are shown in the “crowd” photo.  Plus, this could be the first leftist protest that didn’t leave the site buried in litter.

Gov. I know my comments come in the day after 9/11, however, I am just getting around to my email.

We all stopped what we were doing on Wednesday to observe a moment of silence in remembrance of those that perished in 2001. From most of us that moment was followed by prayer, others it was was followed by solitude thought of what happened. But, what about the young children in the classrooms who are exposed to prayer and don't understand why we are taking the Moment of Silence? What do we do with them? How does a teacher or do we want a teacher explaining it to our children what it means to do that? Children born the year of the attack have just reached 18 some have Graduated and some may have joined out Military to continue the right against the terroristic regimes, so may we pray for them and all our other Military Personnel!

Nextt topic: As for MS-13, I feel it's time for a change in Military protocols to allow the US Military Personnel to use in the rounding up of these illegal immigrant terroristic demons!

The next thing that needs to happen is for Congress to pass a law banning "Sanctuary" locations in the United States! After all isn't the US a Sanctuary Country if you properly apply for and are accepted for asylum?

On the subject of the Chick-fil-A and San Antonio or any other Airport. My feelings are this if a facility that is receiving Federal funding for Construction and Operations, descriminates against any person or businesses based on sex, race or religious beliefs, they should automatically lose all Federal Funds! I'm also for them not only for losing the funds for that facility, but for ALL PROJECTS within their Jurisdiction! In San Antonio that could do a WHOLE LOT OF DAMAGE, with Lackland Joint Military Training Base there along with other Government facilities. I'm also thinking of San Francisco, since they recently did the same thing, along with their stupidity of naming the NRA as a Domestic Terrorist Organization. I had to call a Specialist I have an appointment with to reschedule my appointment, to see him in an different office so I don't have to go to San Francisco. God forbid I go in and terrorize them with my 4WD Truck with the Lifetime NRA Member, 2A Supporter, MAGA and Trump 2020 decals on it. ??

    You're the best Gov. Mike!

    God bless ??
    Bill

I love it when libs get backlashed. Those people in San Antonio should be praised for standing up to the morons who don't like Chick Filet. How stupid can some get. Oh! another funny incident. Bill Miller BBQ had a huge increase in business following what castro did. I call that poetic justice. Those communists who don't hide it should be dealt with in the justice system.

As one gets a bit older the more one can speak its mind freely not many care what you have to say or they find old people not that reverent. The people on the Left don't care about what a normal 70 year old thinks or what it knows the left have an agenda that includes to subvert American values for any other values like Socialist, or Communist, or the ideology of Islam, large government control anything but God ,Capitalism ,our Constitution 10 Commandments the Golden Rule the Left wants the US to be an evil Empire. China wants to be the leader of the world's economy, leader of Military might this is the beginning it may take 10 more years for this to be complete be sure with one and a half generations educated by Left teachers and professors the movement is on its way if you need proof just study the nuts competing for the nomination to unseat President Trump non of them could live by the Golden Rule =just watch them look at their past and look to see how they want the future. Most of them will fly their jets most of us will ride a donkey.

Great writing and positions, Mr. Governor, and in view of the need for a new NSA, I have a single recommendation - an almost untouchable one! Regarding the desire to end military occupation in the longest war we've fought, mixed with irreconcialable (sp) differences in attempting to negotiate with terrorists:
How about - Trump announce 'no more negotiating with terrorists', then put the onus on the UN to fulfill its "chartered duty" to keep the peace by ordering the illegal invasion of any nation by another be ceased immediately, under threat of removal by UN forces (as long as they have them), and should the UN choose not to do so, then remove and replace themselves to some other nation's real estate, and pay the U.S. back for its heavy investment in an organization heavily polluted with largely wicked representatives and evil policies.

This doesn't have anything to do with the topic tonight, but I' wondering if the reason there are so many (disqualified) Democrats are running for President is: They are given enormous amounts of money from elite and wealthy Trump fearers that they get rich and can keep most of the $ for themselves. Just my thought.

On sanctuary cities--I absolutely do not understand the position here--This is violation of Federal Law-period. Why in the world is not the Gov't --1. prosecuting these states--and 2. why are not Federal funds for anything going to them not with-held until they come into compliance with Federal Law?????????
I would almost wish the San Andreas fault would really rupture---but then, of course the rest of the Country would have to pay to rescue all these wastes of-skin--(this is a a First Amendment right I have to voice my opinion)

I’m so encouraged that more and more Christians and conservatives are standing up to these bullies who want to place us under their boot by stomping on our rights under the Constitution. Read the Bible (and the Constitution-based on the Bible) if you don’t think you should do it. We are not to be rude or hate filled. The radical left want to silence our voice. Stand up and be heard!

I'm sure there are girls who might destroy their Barbie dolls--but the most I have even seen or even heard about is maybe trying to paint her nails with polish, cut the hair, etc. But destroy? I don't know what the problem would be with dolls that depict Sally Ride, Rosa Parks and Frida Kahlo. These would not be the first dolls that depict "strong" women.

I am one who thinks there are too many lawsuit happy people around. There are a whole lot that are frivolous and the lawyers who take them on should be fined in some way for encouraging them (or maybe disbarred after bringing on a certain number.) It seems that ACLU (leading the pack) and other groups that sue about every little thing, perceived or real are rampant. But I am glad to see that there are conservative people/groups that are fighting back--by bringing on their own lawsuits. Which, of course, the left will cry and wail about, their feelings being hurt and all that.

I read the vague list of things the left are frantically digging for to call for impeachment. But, still, no one seems to have named a SPECIFIC instance of any of these. Which, IMO, means they still have NOTHING, just hoping they can come up with SOMETHING--if nothing else, maybe what he said in private to someone 20 or 30 years ago. I thought the meetings with cabinet members were so they could discuss an issue, discuss what things could be done about them, and what certainly should not be done. To claim that any statements made in these meetings was a push by President Trump to do something, when it was just discussion. You know, think tank stuff.
