Today's Edition

Donald Trump Jr. says that every American should see this two-minute video of Dr. Deborah Birx of the White House coronavirus task force refuting some of the scaremongering that the media have been circulating. We already linked to it, but didn’t highlight it, so it seems like a good idea to do it again:

A few major points: Here in America, there is no shortage of hospital beds or ventilators for COVID-19 (Chinese) virus patients. There are no “do not resuscitate” orders for patients over 60. These doomsday claims are predictions based on a computer model of the future spread of the virus that has so far proven to be wildly exaggerated. The head of the team at Imperial College UK that created it just downgraded its initial estimate of 550,000 dead in the UK to less than 20,000. Of course, that’s terrible, but it’s about 97.3% lower than the initial prediction. And the UK was not as prepared for this as we were.

In a related story, the media are spinning the numbers of confirmed cases to make it appear that the US is the very epicenter of the pandemic. But is that a case of “GIGO”: the number crunchers’ term for “garbage in, garbage out,” or using faulty numbers to extrapolate false conclusions? See for yourself:

Of course, this is not meant to suggest that anyone should stop taking extreme precautions to avoid contamination and stop the spread of this potentially deadly disease. It is especially bad in certain places, such as New York City, which is densely populated and where the political leaders were still urging people to go out and mingle just a few weeks ago. But the narrative that it’s the end of the world and we’re totally unprepared for it is the result of equal parts Trump Derangement Syndrome and the need to fill 24 hours a day with “news” and commentary when there’s only one story to talk about.

That’s why you should rely on us for your news and commentary. If it’s really important, we’ll tell you about it. Until then, my poor staffers and I read the news – and the “news” -- so you don’t have to.

With gratitude,

Mike Huckabee

Coronavirus response puts a spotlight on Michigan Governor

By Mike Huckabee

President Trump and Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer are exchanging accusations over who is responsible for problems her state is having in obtaining supplies to deal with the coronavirus outbreak. You can read the details here if you want, but frankly, I think most Americans aren’t in the mood for partisan fingerpointing. If there are problems, they need to be solved now, and you can argue over blame later.

On a related subject, Gov. Whitmer is not filling her constituents with confidence that she’s putting their best interests ahead of politics by following Nevada Democratic Gov. Steve Sisolak in playing doctor without a license. Both Governors have issued orders banning doctors from the off-label use of hydroxychloroquine, particularly in combination with the drug Azithromycin, which has shown promise in early use in several nations, but which has been under attack by the left as a “fake cure” because President Trump spoke of it positively.

Whitmer’s Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs issued a letter threatening action against the medical licenses of any doctors who prescribe it for the coronavirus, requiring health care providers who learn of a doctor prescribing it to report them to the state, and banning pharmacists from filling prescriptions for it.

Friday, the House passed and President Trump signed the $2 trillion coronavirus support bill, which provides aid to idled workers and businesses with an unhealthy side of pork. Many people are attacking that aspect, and rightfully so, but unfortunately, the need for the rest is so pressing that the opportunistic exploitation of the crisis had to be tolerated to keep from making the perfect the enemy of the good. I would remind you that if you want to remove the bad stuff from the bill, the best way is to remember who put it there and remove them from office this November.

As predicted, it was no likely that the House would have a quick, unanimous vote than that a herd of cats would form a marching band. I expected drama but instead got over-the-top melodrama. You can read about it all at the link, and see some jaw-dropping video. I won’t go into detail, but let me just offer kudos to Michigan Democratic Rep. Haley Stevens, who accomplished the impossible by actually beating AOC in a pulling-ridiculous-histrionics-to-call-attention-to-yourself duel.

Today’s Must-Read: For weeks, all we’ve heard from Democrats and the media (but I repeat myself) is that President Trump waited too long to deal with the coronavirus, that he’s dangerously incompetent, lost, lying, flailing, over his head, not doing enough/anything/the right things, and we’re all going to die and it’s all his fault and he doesn’t even care. If only his critics had been in charge from the beginning, we wouldn’t be facing such a dire situation!

Okay, John Perazzo at Front Page Magazine decided to go back to the beginning of the virus outbreak in China (yes: CHINA!) He has created a side-by-side timeline, showing us what Trump has been doing since that moment, and what his critics have been doing. The contrast is stunning. It starts with Trump creating his coronavirus task force on January 29 and shutting down travel from China on January 31. Democrats who now accuse Trump of acting too slowly at the time called him an immigrant-hating xenophobe, wanted to keep the borders open, and didn’t hold their first House hearing on the virus until February 5.

After you read the whole story, you will be agog at how many mountains one man was able to move while being constantly attacked, second-guessed, lied about, misquoted, obstructed and even impeached. You will also see one of the worst mass examples of criminal negligence by political leaders and the media in history. And it’s all on the record and in their own words.

If you can read this and not thank God that Trump was President at this moment in history, and realize that his opponents shouldn’t even be in charge of a snow cone stand, then you need to go back and read it again.

We have numerous approved drugs that doctors prescribe everyday; how many of the drugs that are "approved" have law suits against these drugs because of the harm they do!!!
We should be willing to try the drugs that show promise to curtail the coronavirus.

What I was just thinking about tonight regarding the virus etc., is I would love to see a study of how many people who received flu shots and pneumonia shots last fall, & have gotten tested and their results are negative for the covid-19? I would hazard to bet that all of them who had flu shots AND pneumonia shots had negative results. I had both shots last Fall, and I haven't gotten any symptoms, but have also been out and about too, before the social distancing precaution. I have also been babysitting with my grandchildren, and they had colds, but other than the sniffles, I never got overly sick myself. ( I'll be 60 this year.) I also get allergies every year in March, and as predicted, I got the runny nose and sneezing and sinus drip, etc., that comes with allergies, but no fever and none of the symptoms attributed to this Covid-19. So I wondered if others in my area, who had flu shots and pneumonia shots and the TDAP shots, which I got a year ago, the TDAP shot that covers whooping cough, would be less vulnerable to this newest virus. There are only 7 confirmed cases in my county, Genesee County, NY, which is far away from NYC, the other side of the state, and also there are even less than 10 cases each in the GLOW region, which is Genesee County, Livingston County, Orleans County, and Wyoming County, and NO CASES in Yates County. Again, it is because there are acres of land between neighbors, and we don't have a lot of public transportation needs in this area as everyone has at least one of their own cars, and the whole car pooling thing, went out of style when the SARS and H1N1 viruses came about. People went back to driving themselves, which was a good thing, contrary to what the NYS Gov. and other Liberals tried to force us to do, car pool and use public transportation, well it is a good thing we didn't listen to the state govt., they are always wrong-headed anyway, because in Buffalo and Rochester, and other large cities that use ALOT OF PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION, are the places where this virus is most prevalent. So again, liberals have NO CLUE on how to best handle 'social distancing' as they are too worried about 'carbon footprint' B.S. and climate change, etc. I don't see the climate getting any sicker, just the people who seem to promote crazy ideas to scare people and cause panic and doom and gloom. Also, many grocery stores are opting for plastic bags again because the reusable ones are not proven to be cleaned when people bring them to the stores from home... again, another liberal, socialists so-called solution, causes more sicknesses than it helps. Wasn't it because of the SARS sickness that the plastic bags started in the first place? Considered more sanitary? And they can be recycled into pop bottles and other plastic products? To save the forests that the paper bags were killing off and we weren't going to have anymore trees in 10 years! That was over 30 years ago now, I think. I think it would be better to start opening businesses again, and kids to school again. An economy tanked IS far worse and the deaths would be caused more from drugs and alcohol and suicides and/or homicides than the virus would cause anyway. But you cannot convince the liberal socialists of this. This virus should NOT be exploited for political reasons, but OF COURSE it will by the Liberal Socialists because they were, like you said, only worried about impeachment hearings and NOT THE HEALTH OF AMERICAN CITIZENS in the past 4 months, as they knew about the virus then too, but they didn't care about the people, only when President Trump started updates about it, did the Liberals think....oh no and oh yes we have a crisis now and we can blame it on President Trump... Wrong-headed bobble-heads is what they are.....

Thank God for President Trump. He has made the right decisions with the first shutting down the borders. He has selected the best & brightest team. A big thank you to our doctors, nurses, first responders, & our great military & all our volunteers. With the grace of God & continuing prayers, we'll get through this together. We have to listen, it's for our own good.
One last comment, why are some democratic governors always whinning? The President should address the hot spots first & he'll take care of all of us as he is doing now.

If you look closely at the CoronaVirus outbreak and the Whinners( CUOMO, Newsome, Whitmer and others) they are all Democratic Governors, who didnot use their own intelligence from the Swine Flu Outbreak during the OBAMA/Biden years that had over 1,000 people dead prior to the White House taking action and the main stream media fact checkers not using true research on all the previous viruses that came from China.

Instead of stockpiling and purchasing the required medical equipment and supplies, instead spent the money on projects associated with Climate and Solar and other projects

Now they are crying WOLF at the door while this President being a businessman has gotten all of the U.S.Government and the private sector to replenish those supplies that they should have stockpiled in their respective states.

So when they hear them crying WOLF, the MAINSTREAM MEDIA if they had an intelligence should ask them, this question: "WHY WHERE YOU NOT PREPARED FOR THIS. WHY DID YOU NOT HEED THE WARNINGS YOU SHOULD HAVE LEARNED FROM THE SWINE FLU THAT CHINA

Mike there are several articles out there like this one that say U.S. hospitals (not UK) in several major cities are indeed discussing plans to refuse a patient or family request to attempt resusitation for older people. Please investigate this further. You need to keep us informed of the truth. This does not look good for anyone over 65 in these cities, which by the way are all run by Democrats.

Why is Joe Biden hidin'? Is it because all the gaffes he makes in his appearances make him look like Chauncey Gardiner, the Peter Sellers character in Being There? Or is it because he looks ill?

The anti malari drug is being tried with serious ill patients. With some success. Even with a “might” or “some improvement”. We should START giving this drug to our hospital workers and first responders (we already give to our military because they “might” get sick overseas. ) This “might” need to apply to the hospital workers to give them a fighting chance if they get ill. I know the scientist want data. The problem is we do not have time for long term data. Like giving to the military Worst case scenario. It would not hurt.

maybe the DOJ should put the screws on the govs. Maybe the state Medical assoc. should charge them with practicing medicine without a license. Both would rather their constituents die than get something that might cure. Sounds like the AMA. Who gave them the right to practice medicine by executive order? NO one. And the screws need to be tightened around their...throats. NO one gave a governor the right to legislate what the practice of medicine can and cannot do. We got a problem and it's FAR from Houston.

The halfwits have no plan for anything, They can't handle what DT has, All we have to do is ask them. I don't read nor hear about any plan they have or had from the beginning, do you Mike? If so, I'd like to hear/read what their plan was besides open borders, and let every foreigner in from China and do not test. Ick!

Governor Whitmer has made so many moves against her own constituents this year before COID-18 that I wouldn’t be surprised if she used this as an excuse to declare martial law just to keep from being tarred and feathered. Also, there is a different risk for people where I am in southwest Michigan where there are about 100 people per square mile compared to Los Angeles where there is about 2,300 per square mile (or about 3,600 if you take the mountains out of the footage) or over 27,000 in New York City. People need to be smart and protect the most vulnerable, but they need to think about population and space and not be so frightened.

I'd like to comment that I don't believe the "estimate" from the UK was an "estimate" but rather it was a "projection" which was based on certain circumstances that might have been allowed but weren't. So a new projection was built using different circumstances.

To my mind the real failure of the government is not to have stockpiled a sufficient number of masks to meet this crisis. With masks, people who are not at extraordinary risk can do many of their normal tasks--e.g., go to work at many jobs. We wouldn't have to shut down the economy. Masks are not that expensive, particularly in comparison with what is being spent now. I heard that the government did stockpile masks before the 2009 flu epidemic but failed to replenish the supply afterwards. I would be interested in knowing whether this is true.

Governor, any truth to the gates foundation holding a mock pandemic conference last year at johns hopkin medical center exploring vaccinations and such? Would mean incredible amounts of money for them if they could develop it on the Chinese unsuspecting people. Maybe that’s how the ‘bug’ got out and spread everywhere.
