Today's Commentary --- The shameful truth about the FBI's "examination" of Hillary's emails -- "Huckabee" preview -- Cuomo-Conway exchange -- Lessons learned the hard way -- Trump cancels North Korea trip -- RIP Robin Leach -- Evening Edition - Daily Verse

With so much in the news every day, it’s easy for something earth-shaking to be overlooked, even for those of us not tied to the mainstream media narrative.  On Thursday, I wrote about a breaking story uncovered by Paul Sperry of Real Clear Investigations about the way the FBI dealt with those Hillary emails found (along with lots of porn) on the laptop of Anthony Weiner, former husband of Hillary aide and confidante Huma Abedin, in the months before the 2016 election.  But the story, outrageous as it was, didn’t seem to get traction until Jason Chaffetz did a segment on it for the Laura Ingraham show Thursday night.

Ever since Donald Trump shocked the Democrats by winning in November of 2016, Democrats have espoused a theory that then-FBI Director James Comey hurt Hillary’s chances with the October timing of his “re-opening” of that investigation.  (Of course, they never mention that she wouldn’t have even been a candidate by then if Comey had made her do the perp-walk back in July, but I digress.)  The actual story surrounding those emails is much more insidious.  And it’s no theory.

"Huckabee" preview

By Mike Huckabee

Join me tonight on TBN for a brand new, must-see edition of “Huckabee!” With all the hysteria on cable news this week over the legal issues of former Trump associates, there’s nobody better to help us sort it out than legal analyst Gregg Jarrett, author of the #1 best-selling book in America, “The Russia Hoax.”  With a scary number of young Americans rejecting capitalism for socialism, Dr. Kenneth Barnes, author of “Redeeming Capitalism,” will give us his ideas on how to return capitalism to the moral principles the Founders intended.  On the lighter side, I’ll have some humor and good advice from marriage blogger Sheila Wray Gregoire, author of “To Love, Honor and Vacuum.”  Add some great music from Christian rock superstar Matthew West, plus a hatfull of fun surprises.  It’s all coming your way tonight at 8 and 11 p.m. EST (7 and 10 CST), repeated the same times on Sunday, on TBN.  For previous shows and a handy channel finder for your local area, visit https://www.tbn.org/programs/huckabee

Cuomo-Conway exchange

By Mike Huckabee

Why Cable News Is Now Less Believable Than Pro-Wrestling (And More Combative): Watch Kellyanne Conway and CNN’s Chris Cuomo battle it out over Cuomo’s assertion that President Trump has no integrity, as based on the word of a sleazy lawyer who lied directly to Cuomo when he swore he wasn’t taping their conversation, then he taped it.

Lessons learned the hard way

By Mike Huckabee

Lessons Learned the Hard Way: If you’re teaching your teenager to drive, this could be an instructional video on how not to deal with being pulled over by a police officer.  Lesson one: Don’t be an obnoxious, foul-mouthed punk and call the officer dirty names.  Lesson two: Don’t pull the “Do you know who I am?” routine, particularly when the answer is that you’re the son of the mayor of Denver, Colorado…and you’ve been pulled over by a cop in Aurora, Colorado.  Hopefully, his dad the mayor has straightened him out before he gets on the road to becoming a Huck’s Criminal Mastermind.

Trump cancels North Korea trip

By Mike Huckabee

Disappointing turn of events, as President Trump has postponed Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s planned trip to North Korea, due to a lack of significant progress by Kim Jong Un on denuclearization.  Trump’s tweet put the blame on China for lessening its pressure on North Korea due to the ongoing trade conflict, but his tweet sending “my warmest regards and respect to Chairman Kim. I look forward to seeing him soon!” was a masterpiece of passive-aggressive subtext.

I’m sure this setback will spur more criticism of Trump for how he’s handling Kim by the talking heads and longtime Foggy Bottom diplomatic crowd who have been sneering and ridiculing him from the start, and continually carp that that’s not the way they would do it.

President Trump is trying a different tactic for dealing with Kim.  He told us upfront that his deal-making approach might work or it might not; and if it doesn’t, then he will return to sanctions and military options. Meanwhile, here’s something nobody on the cable news channels seems willing to say to all the arrogant Ivy League legacy alumni who routinely attack Trump’s efforts, so I’ll say it.

You have no room to criticize anyone. Trump wouldn’t even have to be dealing with a nuclear North Korea if your feckless jawboning and weak-kneed appeasement hadn’t proven to be a miserable failure for two decades.  Now, you want Trump to keep doing the same thing that’s proven not to work, which I believe is one definition of “insanity.”  Even if Trump’s efforts crash completely, and North Korea continues building nukes and firing missiles toward Japan, that will be the exact same situation that prevailed when he came into office and inherited this dangerous mess from you self-proclaimed diplomatic geniuses.  So until you come up with a better idea - even one - stop slamming the guy who’s at least trying something different than what you have proven doesn’t work.

Or as humorist Ring Lardner put it: “’Shut up,’ he explained.”

RIP Robin Leach

By Mike Huckabee

I’m sad to have to report that “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous” host Robin Leach has passed away in Las Vegas at 76.  He had been hospitalized since suffering a stroke last November.

Leach’s famous booming voice extolling the decadence of “champagne wishes and caviar dreams” became one of the most famous (and most parodied) TV catchphrases of all time.  But that over-the-top persona as the king of conspicuous consumption was a creation of a self-proclaimed down-to-earth journalist and family man.  He thought of his TV image as a “cartoon” that he would turn on for business, then turn off to go home.

Born in Great Britain, he moved to Las Vegas in the late ‘90s, and I know well how much he loved his adopted hometown.  When Vegas was suffering from the falloff in tourism and conventions during the recession, I tried to help promote the city by taking my Fox News show there in 2010. Robin Leach showed his appreciation by acting as our guest announcer and personal welcome wagon.  He went above and beyond to help me and my crew so we could showcase the very best talent in Vegas.  He was a genuinely nice, positive person whom you might think you know from TV, but the real man was even more impressive.  My sincere condolences and prayers for his family.

Although not surprised about the FBI not reading Hillary’s emails, I’M DEVESTATED BY THE FBI’S ABILITY TO LIE WITH SUCH ALACRITY.

FURTHER BOTHERED BY THE FACT THAT CONGRESS HASNT REACTED, and I mean both sides.
