Evening Edition - November 15

November 15, 2019

President Trump held a rally last night in Louisiana. There’s a report on it at the link, along with video of his entire speech.  As expected, he had some choice things to say about the people trying to impeach him.  But perhaps his most memorable and succinct comment, and one that would make a great campaign slogan for 2020, was this:

“We did nothing wrong, and they’re doing nothing.”

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/trump-louisiana-rally-eddie-rispone-jon-bel-edwards

-----------------------------------------

An American-born woman who quit college and left the US to travel to Syria and join ISIS (according to the linked story, she also “promoted the group's ideology on social media and called on Muslims to commit attacks in America, such as drive-by shootings and attempts to assassinate former President Barack Obama") has now repudiated the terrorist group and wants to come home to her family in Alabama. They sued to try to force the US to let her back in.

But a judge has dismissed the lawsuit, ruling that she was never a US citizen in the first place because her father was a UN diplomat from Yemen, and children of diplomats are not granted automatic US citizenship.

https://www.foxnews.com/us/us-born-woman-who-joined-isis-not-american-citizen

While that’s a convenient O. Henry twist, it still leaves unanswered the larger question raised by this case: Why should the United States be forced to let anyone back inside our borders who voluntarily left so that they could GO TO SYRIA AND JOIN ISIS and who advocated terrorist attacks and assassinating the President?

While I’m sure she’d rather be in Alabama than in a Syrian refugee camp, she should count her blessings that at least she’s still alive, unlike the countless victims of the organization she left here to join.  If she wants to come to America, then she can apply for citizenship.  Get in line behind all the applicants who didn’t join ISIS.

 ----------------------------------------

If you live in a rural area instead of in a city, then you deserve to be bashed and shamed because you’re “bad people who have made bad life decisions.”  There shouldn’t be subsidies to help you have affordable health care or broadband service because it “should be uncomfortable” not to move to a city and live a “more efficient” lifestyle.

That slice of bigoted idiocy appeared recently on Twitter, posted by a self-described "Graduate Student Instructor at University of California." I’ll be kinder than he is and not mention his name, particularly since he got his head handed to him so decisively that he’s since deleted the tweet and even disappeared from Twitter.  At this link, Megan Fox has the full story, and her own rebuttal on behalf of the self-reliant people who do the farming and ranching and mining and drilling and fishing that allows self-involved twerps like the coddled college kid to live their cushy urban lifestyles.

https://pjmedia.com/trending/rural-americans-are-bad-people-who-deserve-to-be-shamed-says-berkeley-instructor/

I’d just add that if he doesn’t like having to subsidize services for rural dwellers, then how about if they pay for them by charging $100 for a pound of kale?  Or $500 a pound for organic, free-range chicken?  (Guess he forgot how much people who can’t grow their own food benefit from farm subsidies.)

Besides, I’d point out that even if you’re living on the poorest farm, you’re still better off than a lot of California urbanites.  They both may have no electricity and be surrounded by manure, but at least on the farm, it’s not human manure scattered with drug needles.

--------------------------------------------------

You might have read the disturbing news that Google has been quietly accessing tens of millions of Americans' medical records without first removing the identifying personal data.  At the link is an anonymous article by the Google employee who worked on the secret project for a while before realizing the full ramifications and finally decided that the public had a right to know.  His/her revelations have sparked calls for an investigation. Just for the record, this is what an actual whistleblower looks like:

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2019/nov/14/im-the-google-whistleblower-the-medical-data-of-millions-of-americans-is-at-risk

 -------------------------------------------------

I’m not a psychiatrist, but I think that Speaker Pelosi’s odd lashing out at a reporter for asking a perfectly legitimate question might betray some serious emotional turmoil, such as desperation, panic or fear that she’s set in motion a runaway train and it’s about to go over a cliff with her entire Party aboard.

https://www.foxnews.com/media/nancy-pelosi-reporter-mr-republican-talking-points

PS – Great comment about Speaker Pelosi’s desperation from a poster at Lucianne.com who goes by the screen name “zuker5”: “Grasping for straws. Unfortunately for her, her people banned plastic straws, so the only straws that she has within reach are paper, and they’re soggy, and falling apart.”

-----------------------------------

If Democrats and the media (but I repeat myself) hoped that their low-rated “impeachment” show would undermine support for President Trump, then they must feel like Wile E. Coyote after one of his Acme Roadrunner Trumps blew up in his face.  Not only do polls show support for impeachment falling, but day one of their circus sparked a massive boost in campaign donations…to Trump.

https://www.westernjournal.com/trump-campaign-calls-impeachment-hearing-day-one-one-best-days-fundraising-ever/

In the 24 hours after what they call the “Hearsay Hearings,” the Trump campaign took in $3.1 million from small dollar donors, one of their biggest days ever. They also claim that since the impeachment push officially started, over 100,000 people have volunteered to work for the campaign.

Is it any wonder Nancy Pelosi seems as grumpy and discombobulated as someone who’s been suddenly shaken awake from a deep sleep into a very unpleasant reality?

President Trump has done so many good things for our country. He truly ran for President because he saw what was happening to our country under Obama and his agenda to fundamentally transform our country to his ideology, weaken our military and not truly support them, giving billions to Iran, Benghazi, etc. all under the Obama watch. So Donald Trump decides to run for President, has done so many good things, so overshadowed and unmentioned because of the Democrats and left mainstream media. Why isn't every loyal Republican touting President Trump's accomplishment all to Keep America Great. I would like to see a compiled list of facts and accomplishments and hear it mention often. Now I don't know exactly how that can be done with the anti-America Left lying mainstream media, who go out of their way to say nothing positive about all the good things the President has done. Could you imagine for a minute if we didn't have the Democrat and the mainstream media, just how positive the results could be for nation. Could you imagine if the Democrats would actually work with this President how much could have been accomplished for the betterment and strength of our nation. We know that is never going to happen. So go to the voting booths in November and vote for anyone but a Democrat. They have proven themselves for decades, but now more noticeable than ever and it is not going to change, because they (Democrats) are not going to change, they will only divide, stay corrupt, disrupt, distract, lie and cheat in everything they do and most of all will continue their agenda to smear and try to destroy our President, whom at least 63 million people voted for, because we were sick of the Obama agenda destroying our nation.

Your comment on paper straws falling apart, I haven’t used them so I don’t know? I’m 74yrs old. All my growing up years, we used paper straws. For our milk at school, at the soda shop, in a bottle of coke, etc. The straw did not fall apart unless we chewed on it. Maybe they need to find the original technique for making straws. I don’t remember when the plastic ones came out, the sixties, I think. Surely some is still alive that knows how they were made!I don’t completely agree with all this climate change stuff, but we do need to keep our plant clean, using stuff that doesn’t hang around for a few hundred years.

MY COMMENT IS AT A MACRO LEVEL ABOUT ALL THE IMPEACMENT ACTIVITIES. I HAVE BEEN DOING SOME PERSONAL BIBLES STUDIES ON CHRISTIAN DAILY LIVING AND GROWTH. BUT IT CAUSES ME TO MOURN THE LACK OF BASIC MORAL (IT MIGHT WEAKENED TO CALL IT ETHICAL) STANDARDS OF CONDUCT. PSALM 15 WHICH BASICALLY ASKS, WHO ACTS IN WAYS REFLECTIVE OF CONDUCT BEING ACCEPTED BY THE LORD? HE WHO WALKS UPRIGHTLY AND ACTS AND DOES RIGHTEOUSLY, HE WHO DOES NOT BACKBITE WITH HIS TONGUE, HE WHO SPEAKS THE TRUTH IN HIS HEART, HE WHO DOES NO EVIL TO HIS NEIGHBOR, HE WHO DOES NOT TAKE UP A CAUSE AGAINST A FRIEND. HE WHO SWEARS TO HIS OWN HURT AND CHANGES NOT, HE WHO DOES NOT TAKE A BRIBE AGAINST THE INNOCENT.
THIS IS FUNDAMENTAL GOOD BEHAVIOR BEING VIOLATED BY SO CALLED GOVERNMENT LEADERS. I DESPAIR ON ONE HAND FOR OUR COUNTRY AND ITS DIRECTION. ON THE OTHER HAND I KNOW THE LORD IS NOT ABSENT AND OUR HELP AND SALVATION BOTH INDIVIDUALLY AND IN A GENERAL SENSE WILL COME BY THE GRACE OF GOD.
THANKS FOR YOUR CONTINUED COMMENTARY. J. SMITH

How does the current sham accusations against the President even remotely come close to Benghazi or sending millions of dollars to Iran ( leading world sponsor of terrorism ) during the Obama administration.

As I write this I am outraged by the waste of time and money the Left is using on these investigations or lets call them what they are Gossip sessions. We have real problems to solve and the Anti American Left are stalling so this Country can not get in full stride to more economic greatness. Say what you want about money look at Gates he doing good things with his money with out the Feds telling how to do it. Imagine Americans with more money what they can do to make America even Greater than it is; more people with money means less people that are poor and who is dependent on poor people? The People in the Left need poor people to get elected they need people that are dependent on government to get elected I am on a fixed income and the Feds continue to tax my Social Security and Pension while Property Tax and Health care Insurance rise I need more money. This Country needs every person working that can, so our seniors can stop supporting the malcontents that refuse to earn their way. Trump is offering that to all Americans and yes even the Illegals get it; it all gets better without the Left keeping its foot on the Brakes to economic Greatness. Take the foot off the brakes vote Trump and GOP. MAGA

I am a true supporter of the President and I am proud to say I voted for him in 2016. He has done more for the U.S. than anyone could have imagined when you look at what he has had to fight through.Because of this constant, sickening attacks, I can understand his desire to attack back. I don't think there are many people that wouldn't! As Mr. Star said, I wish he would allow someone else beat that drum! Mr. President, with a deep and true respect, please walk softly, and allow someone else carry the big stick!

    Good evening Governor

I have the feeling that Pelosi is struggling to keep her lies straight. By now she must have a binder with colour coded tabs to reference what spin was put on what Trump statement. If at first you practice to deceive etc.

Have a great weekend Governor. Love your show too.

I believe that now that the Dems have nothing to go with, they should be removed from office and all wages should be confiscated for not doing the work they were hired to perform. You don't work, you don't get paid. Live in the real world. Matter of fact, take all funds they have ripped off of the taxed people and pay off the National debt. We the people want the control of the Government that we are constitutionally entitled too. Thank you, Donald Trump, For working so hard to give that back to the people. We love you and are behind you in the upcoming election.

My comment has nothing with the topics covered in tonight's newsletter. But, in this morning's news on KTVU FOX 2 in the San Francisco Bay Area market, California Governor Gavin Newsom, really stuck his foot in his mouth. First looking like he was under the influence of some illicit substance, he began by berating the NRA and Republicans for their "thoughts and prayers" every time there is a mass shooting. Yet, this is the morning after he released a statement that the families effected by the Sangus High School shooting were in his wife Jennifer and his thoughts.

His next comments which I only saw once, and which I would have thought to record them for proof, because somehow, I believe a staff member must have told him how idiotic his comments were. He blamed the shooting at Sangus High School directly on the National Rifle Association, Gun Proponents and the Republicans in the Senate for holding up Gun Control Laws.

Ok, I will be nice, how does the NRA, Gun Proponents and Republicans in the Senate holding up Gun Control Laws that would require Universal Background Checks have changed a thing. This occurred in California, in your State Governor Newsom, you know, the one with the toughest Gun Control Laws in the Nation, where it is impossible for a 16 year old to purchase a Hand Gun! Where you MUST BE 21 YEARS OLD and Pass a Background Check, plus you have to pass background check to purchase the ammunition to shoot in the gun!

I seriously believe he is losing his touch with reality and needs a mental health exam.

The deep state is still being supported!

Steve Ballmer thinks he and others should pay more tax. Warren Buffet a few years ago uttered the same nonsense.

But all they have to do is write a substantial extra check to the US Treasury! Have I seen this in the news media?

The fat cats of the deep state - government and corporate elite alike have done much to sink the middle class.

I am presuming now that the extra tax investment in the do nothing Dems is now not so attractive.
