Joe Biden is learning that these days, the “permanent record” kids used to be threatened with is all too real, and his past is being used against him -  not by his opponents but by those in his own party who don’t want him to be the nominee.  We’ve already seen the handsy clips, the Anita Hill quotes and the questionable Ukraine connections resurfacing.  Now, it’s his support for Confederate General Robert E. Lee.  Say what?!

Back in 1975, Senator Biden voted to reinstate Lee’s US citizenship.  To be fair, it wasn’t considered controversial then – the vote was unanimous (and I suspect some of the Senators in office at that time had probably known Lee personally.)  But as we’ve all learned, complaining that you’re being held to a standard that didn’t even exist at the time is no excuse for the politically “woke.”  Any variance from current, ever-changing PC dogma is reason enough to toss you on the scrap heap of history, alongside such monsters as Stephen Foster and Kate Smith.

But as hard as it is to keep on the right…sorry, “correct”…side of the always-moving PC borderline, here’s where it gets even more convoluted.  In announcing his candidacy, Biden attacked Trump as a danger to America’s soul, pointing to the widely-misquoted comment about there being “fine people on both sides” in Charlottesville.  Democrats keep trying to convince Americans that Trump was saying there were “fine people” among the neo-Nazis, whom he specifically denounced, making it clear that he was talking about both sides of the debate over whether to take down a statue of Robert E. Lee.

So, in effect, Biden was attacking Trump for defending Biden for voting to defend Robert E. Lee.

The larger questions are: how much longer are we going to let leftists comb through page of American history, demanding that things that don’t conform to their current standards be ripped out and burned, rather than taught in a more complete historical perspective?

And of course, how much longer are we going to continue banishing people from the public square because a long time ago, someone took a position that even Democrats once embraced but which is now considered to be “the wrong side of history”?

Wait, I forgot…are we talking here about Joe Biden or Robert E. Lee?

Mike, I LOVE reading your insight! You always make me laugh as I read your "sharp" observations about the pretty obvious lies and manipulations of the Left. As an immigrant from former USSR, I'm very concerned with the direction and "vision" of Left for our country and consider myself a staunch defender of our constitutional republic!
Biden and Ukraine is a real thing BTW and should get more exposure. Thank you!

In one of the pieces today, you made the statement "in 2020 when Trump's out of office". I really hope that's 2024, as I suspect you do also

Biden makes my stomach turn & gives me a headache. Actually, all democrats & most media does that to me too. I wish I could just fill out my ballot for 2020 & turn off all the junk. Speaking of junk, I hate the way those meannies in the Media treat Sarah. Can you just let her know I pray for her everyday. She is definitely a stronger woman than I. Let's just say I have to ask God's forgiveness everyday, when I think about politicians. I have to say, God take care of it please, I can't. God Bless you all.

This is not a commentary about your Biden article but it is about your Antifa article where you mentioned that have been quiet and out of the news. If I am not mistaken, just prior to the 2018 midterms, Hillary Clinton stated public ally that the violence would not stop until the Democrats won back at least one house chamber, which they have done. THAT was when the Antifa violence stopped, after the elections. My theory, and it is only a theory, is that people were very frightened by the Antifa violence and so submitted to voting democrat in their congressional elections, hoping and praying the violence would stop. If this is true, get ready for more because as soon as a trick is checked off by effective, it gets written into the democratic play book for future use. Lord, God, have mercy on us.

Hey, Mike, I'm sure you misspoke when, in the piece about more people see there's a crisis at the border, you said 'by the time Trump leaves office in 2020' -- I'm sure you meant 'by the time his first term is completed in 2020'. Please let us know. Thanks!! Judy DuCharme

This is so funny ! Biden spent 36 years in the Senate and 8 years as Vice President; now he says he will fix this country if elected President. So what has he been doing for the past 48 years ??????
