Today's Commentary --- BREAKING NEWS: PROOF that Comey FBI committed deliberate FISA fraud --- Terrrifying Brew -- Yet another reader comment, this one unnecessarily huffy --- In honor of Mother's Day -- New free speech threat --- Bernie and AOC's new big idea --- Quotes from our Presidents -- Chief Big Plans -- Washington "Idiocy" -- Evening Edition -- Daily Verse
At this point, it is incontrovertible that the FBI deliberately misled the FISA court to get a warrant to spy (yes, SPY) on the 2016 Trump campaign.
On Thursday night, according to investigative reporter John Solomon at THE HILL, Rep. Mark Meadows of North Carolina confirmed with government officials that State Department notes about Christopher Steele’s partisan goals for his “dossier” were indeed transmitted to the FBI before they applied for the FISA warrant. By the time they applied for the warrant, they were in possession of four pieces of information that discredited Steele’s “evidence.” Here’s how Solomon breaks it down:

I think we’re found the winner of every marketing award of 2019. There’s a new beverage on the market that’s aimed at a very special subgroup of young males. It’s guaranteed to impress your buds with how “extreme” you are. It sells on Amazon for $21.99 for a 12-pack. It comes in malt-liquor style tall boy cans emblazoned with a melting skull; the product’s name, “Liquid Death,” in Goth font; and the motto, “Murder your thirst.”
Of course, there’s also an edgy website that snarls, “Our proprietary Thirst Murdering process begins with Liquid Death forming a rope of veins that will wrap around your Thirst’s head and strangle it…Once Liquid Death reaches your Thirst’s brain, all of your Thirst’s memories will be replaced with repeating loops of its own head imploding.” It will “instantly decapitate your thirst!”
Holy cow, what kind of terrifying brew is lurking inside those cans?!
Water. It’s 100% non-carbonated mountain water from the Alps. Not since “Beto” O’Rourke has there been so much hype about so little. The target market is young males who are health-conscious teetotalers but don’t want their friends to think they’re wimps.
I suppose I could express dismay, but honestly, this is a work of genius. If they can make drinking water instead of booze look cool, I hope they make a fortune. And as a teetotaler myself, I’m tempted to order a case and drink it in public, just to make all the liberal pundits’ heads implode.
Yet another reader comment, this one unnecessarily huffy
By Huckabee staff
Been watching C-Span, carrying the House Judiciary Committee workings on the Barr statements --- this is unbelievable! I watch BOTH Dems and Republicans act like children having their candy stolen from them –-- even a 5-year-old would not shoot the barbs these worthless wastes of skin are shooting. The chairman (please notice the LOWER CASE) , is a stupid individual; he cannot adhere to parliamentary procedure rules and restricts debate --- there appears to be NO oversight to this restrictive behavior. You want obstruction, this is it.
As soon as I say stupid, this post will not be published. This is my opinion –-- I have the right. [If] You don't publish this, you are no better than the jerks you decry.
From the Huckabee staff:
Since we did publish this, Gary, and even chose to highlight it in the newsletter, thanks for implying, perhaps inadvertently, that we are better than jerks. We’ll try not to stoop to the level you did, as this is the Governor’s forum and he is much nicer than we are.
In honor of Mother's Day
By Mike Huckabee
In honor of Mothers’ Day on Sunday, and in honor of all the recent efforts to change hearts and minds and end abortion, here is something that I know will brighten your day. You’ll want to share it with everyone, especially your mom.
This is a heartwarming video for a beautiful new pro-life song called “Dear Mom.” It’s by Paul Lubanski, and it was passed along to me by “Huckabee” writer Laura Ainsworth after Paul shared it with her via her Facebook fan page. Like having children, this video might make you cry at certain times, but I’m sure it will also make you smile a lot.
New Free Speech threat
By Mike Huckabee
And the threats to free speech on campus just keep on coming: at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, a 19-year-old “pro-choice feminist and aspiring journalist” (what a surprise) was arrested after she was caught on video attacking a member of the pro-life group Created Equal with her fists, punching him in the face several times and in the stomach. She was screaming, “BLEEPing terrible person. You’re a terrible person. You — this is not okay. This is not okay. This is not okay. Shut the BLEEP up right now. This is wrong. This is triggering. You’re not an innocent human being. You’re a terrible person.”
And what was it that set her off into such a violent, incoherent rage? She claimed she was “triggered” by the group’s materials that show images of aborted children. Yes, I agree they are disturbing. But they’re reality. If you admit that the reality of abortion is terrible and wrong and disturbing, then the proper reaction would be to join those who are trying to change it, not attack them in an attempt to suppress reality and free speech.
But how can we expect today’s college students to be tolerant of different viewpoints when they’re taught by professors who are so intolerant that at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, the faculty voted overwhelmingly to kick Chick-fil-A off campus after 25 years because of the company’s contributions to Christian charities (branded as “anti-LGBTQ”), and even compared Chick-fil-A to “pornography”?
1. Chick-fil-A just signed a five-year contract extension, so they’re not leaving.
2. Chick-fil-A just became the third-biggest fast food chain in America. A lot of Americans might not be able to define political lunacy, but they know good chicken when they see it.
3. Would you pay to let your kids be indoctrinated by a bunch of intolerant leftist morons who can’t even tell the difference between pornography and a chicken sandwich? They shouldn't even be allowed to teach Sex-Ed.
Bernie and AOC's new, big idea
By Mike Huckabee
I know that when I want an expert opinion on financial issues, I turn to the combined know-how of Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. DC’s loudest, proudest elected socialists have teamed up to create a proposal to revamp the banking industry. This article explains part of it, which would limit the amount of interest that can be charged by credit card companies.
Believe it or not, I agree with them on the point that credit card interest rates are too high, and that credit cards do create a “debt trap” for many Americans. The problem is, you can’t fix that simply by waving a government wand and ordering that interest rates be lowered. It’s like squeezing a toothpaste tube: putting pressure on one spot will create a reaction somewhere else. “Social justice” zealots never seem to grasp the law of unintended consequences and how the things they do to “help” people (like a $15-an-hour minimum wage) end up harming them (they lose their paychecks entirely when businesses cut staffs or close.)
Banks do borrow money at lower rates than consumers and charge consumers more. But that’s because consumers are higher risks and default on payments a lot more. If you force banks to lower credit card rates, then you’ll also force them to toughen requirements for qualifying for credit. We all know that when they do that, they get attacked by left-wingers like AOC and Bernie for being elitist or racist.
The best solution to avoid falling into a credit card “debt trap” is to avoid the temptation to use credit cards to go into debt. Get a card and build a good credit rating by using it sparingly and paying off the balance every month. That will earn you a higher limit and a lower rate, so if you ever need to use it in an emergency, you won’t get stuck with a high balance at 21% interest.
But believe it or not, that’s not the worst idea Bernie and AOC came up with when they put their heads together and made a gong sound. They also suggest that to help people with bad credit records, the government should start offering banking services, including making loans. The government backing loans made to people with poor credit? What could possibly go wrong?
But wait, there’s more: this program would be run by…the United States Post Office!
Yes, that’s the same USPS that already went $3.8 billion into the red in fiscal 2018, and that is perpetually struggling to stay solvent. The linked article has more information, as well as some more reasons why this idea is “simply moronic,” such as that it would involve giving full access to all your financial records to the federal government (I’m sure that for socialists, that’s not a bug, it’s a feature.)
Could I toss in one nobody’s mentioned yet? You know how long you have to stand in line at the post office now? Imagine having a dozen more people in front of you who are there to apply for loans.

Chief Big Plans
By Mike Huckabee
It’s long been said that it’s impossible to make political jokes anymore because no matter how crazy a gag you think of, it will be real before you can tell it. Well, here’s another one I’ll have to retire.
Often, after writing of one lame-brained, leftwing big government proposal or another and noting its cost, I’ll ask facetiously, “Is there that much money in the entire world?” Well, Elizabeth Warren has now rendered even that mild joke obsolete by actually proposing to spend more money than there is in the entire world.
By Mike Huckabee
For those who are not current Democratic lawmakers and actually care about the law, Ed Morrissey at HotAir.com has a round-up of expert opinions on just how weak is the contempt of Congress charge against Attorney General Barr. It also gives those who haven’t been paying close attention a quick catch-up on the facts, such as the Democrats’ push to hold Barr in contempt is for not revealing grand jury material that a law written by Congress specifically forbids him to release, and the fact that Barr has already made a version of the Mueller Report that is 99.9% unredacted available to House leaders to read privately, and so far, every last Democrat has refused to look at it.
The quoted analysts range across the political spectrum from Fox News and National Review to CBS legal analyst Jonathan Turley and the New York Times. Added together, they prove, as Morrissey puts it, that this grandstanding contempt charge is part of a “narcissistic Beltway flame war between partisans that has little or nothing to do with actual governance,” and the proper term for it would be “idiocy.”
