BIBLE VERSE OF THE DAY

Post-impeachment “trial,” some powerful, must-read observations

By Mike Huckabee

If the House impeachment managers had gone forward with their last-minute idea of calling witnesses at Trump’s Senate “trial,” Trump’s attorneys were apparently ready with a list of their own to call.

It’s a relief that this folly wrapped up over the weekend, but at the same time, those witnesses might have shed some light on events surrounding the Capitol breach on January 6. Of course, that’s why the Democrats let the process mercifully end. They couldn’t vote to have witnesses of their own without allowing Trump’s defense to call them, too –- though I’m sure they tried their darnedest to figure out how that might be possible. And Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan, talking with Maria Bartiromo Sunday on FOX NEWS, said the defense actually would have called House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

“We would have called Speaker Pelosi,” he said, “because ultimately, she’s the person in charge of Capitol Hill...everything around Capitol Hill.”

He mentioned others as well, including Steven Sund, the former head of the Capitol Hill police who resigned after the incident, under pressure from Pelosi as reported in USA TODAY. As Jordan said, Sund had specifically asked her for the National Guard to be present beforehand.

Jordan commented that the Democrats pulled back from allowing witnesses to be called because they didn’t want to get into some “uncomfortable facts.” I’ll say.

It might have been delicious fun to see a world-class attorney such as Michael T. van der Veen question Speaker Pelosi on the floor of the Senate. After Trump’s acquittal, a reporter from CBS News, Lana Zak, asked van der Veen about what he had described as “doctored evidence” that was presented by Democrat House managers during the Senate trial (or as we say here, “trial”), including the photoshopped addition of a Twitter “blue check” and deceptively edited footage of Trump speaking and crowd unrest.

He suggested that she had worded her question in a way that downplayed the doctored evidence. “It’s not okay to doctor ‘a little bit’ of evidence,” he told her.

“Prosecutors in this case doctored evidence,” he said. “They did not investigate this case, and when they had to come to court of the Senate to put their case on, because they had not done any investigation, they doctored evidence. It was absolutely shocking. I think when we discovered it and were able to expose it and put it out, I think it turned a lot of senators.”

When it comes to the video they showed on the Senate floor, we’ve certainly called it as we see it and have no problem calling it falsified evidence. Most pointedly, we refer to the managers’ choice to edit Trump’s words to leave out “peacefully and patriotically” as the crowd was getting ready to walk to the Capitol.

Doctor evidence in an actual trial, even a ‘bit’ of it, and you’re in big trouble, likely to be disbarred.

Van der Veen didn’t hold back, either, accusing the media of “trying to divide this country” at a time when the country needs more than anything else to come together. “The media want to tell their narrative,” he said, “rather than just telling it like it is,” adding that corporate media outlets have to “start telling the right story in this country.” But divisive reporting means profits.

“You are bloodthirsty for ratings,” he said. “You’re asking questions that are already set up with a fact-pattern.”

“When I watch the news, I watch one station, and it is raining. And I watch another station at the same time, and it is sunny. Your coverage is so slanted, it’s got to stop,” he told Zak, speaking of the media in general. It has “no integrity at all.” Read more about his interview with Zak at THE EPOCH TIMES.

Another Trump attorney, David Schoen, has a similar way with words. Last Friday, he coined a phrase for Trump’s impeachment “trial” --- he called it “Constitutional cancel culture.”

What the Democrats are doing, he said, is using impeachment as a tool to disqualify their political opponents. He warned that this sets a dangerous precedent.

“This would transform the solemn impeachment process into a mechanism for asserting Congressional control over which private citizens are and are not allowed to run for President,” he told the senators during the first hour of Friday’s presentation. In short, this unprecedented effort is not about Democrats opposing political violence. It is about Democrats trying to disqualify their political opposition. It is Constitutional cancel culture.”

What a great way to put it. Recall that old expression about the justice system: “You can indict a ham sandwich”? The way we’re going, impeachment will end up being like that. If the opposing party has control of the House, they’ll find something –- anything –- to impeach the President for. The idea: to intimidate strong candidates on the other side, especially political outsiders like Trump –- from ever running at all.

Shoen’s point about violence is valid as well. We ought to know by now that the Democrats don’t oppose political violence when it suits their purposes. Sometimes they even vocally support it, as a number of them did during last year’s “summer of love,” when Kamala Harris was helping raise money to bail out protesters who had been arrested.

Finally –- and perhaps most impressively of all –- a former CIA officer has spoken out as well, saying that he’s left the Democratic Party after this second impeachment of President Trump because of the divisiveness of it.

Bryan Dean Wright wrote in the DAILY CALLER that “For years, Democrats like me have watched with increasing alarm as our own political leaders and activists...have used an endless stream of hateful, violent, and ultimately un-American rhetoric that has resulted in billions of dollars of economic damage and given birth to a violent national movement.”

As reported in THE EPOCH TIMES, Wright said the “modern left” is infused with “systemic hatred” that has “inflamed profound political divisions and the predictable outcomes that come with them, most especially violence and destruction.”

As if to echo Shoen’s point about Democrats and violence, Wright went on at length about the violence encouraged by the left, not just by elected officials but by the media, citing specific examples.

“For Democrats like me,” he wrote, we have no choice: we have to leave. But where do we go, politically, now that our party can no longer be salvaged? The answer is to be found in the exit data from the 2020 election: We’re already leaving, it turns out, and joining the new, populist Republican Party.”

Didn’t I tell you there are reasons to be hopeful?

Self-fulfilling Prophecy News

By Mike Huckabee

A “study” by the New York University Stern Center for Business and Human Rights claims that it’s a “false allegation” that social media discriminates against and silences conservatives. Here’s a quote:

“The claim of anti-conservative animus is itself a form of disinformation: a falsehood with no reliable evidence to support it. No trustworthy large-scale studies have determined that conservative content is being removed for ideological reasons or that searches are being manipulated to favor liberal interests.”

(Hope you weren’t swallowing coffee when you read that. Try searching for any story involving the name Trump on Google and see what comes up if you don’t believe searches are being manipulated to favor liberal interests.)

As Paula Bolyard at PJ Media points out, you have to get to page 20 of this manure pile to find that the data available to researchers on whether social media companies harbor an anti-conservative bias is not sufficiently detailed to answer that conclusively. But that didn’t stop the authors from conclusively declaring that complaints of bias are a “false allegation.” That’s even the name of their study!

Read the whole thing. Also, bonus points to Ms Bolyard for quoting from George Orwell’s “1984,” which seems to have become the left’s how-to manual:

“Don’t you see that the whole aim of Newspeak is to narrow the range of thought? In the end we shall make thoughtcrime literally impossible, because there will be no words in which to express it.”

Bombshell news

By Mike Huckabee

Two bombshell pieces of news struck the country music world at once last week. A rising star found himself “canceled” by radio, his record label and the ACM Awards after video emerged of him drunkenly using a racial slur, while another rising country performer came out as gay. Personally, I miss Don Williams.

Pompeo fires back

By Mike Huckabee

After issuing 40 executive orders that will weaken America’s borders, undermine America’s economy, take away Americans’ freedoms, destroy Americans’ jobs and empower America’s enemies, President Biden declared that “America is back!” Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo had an excellent follow-up question to that:

My question would be, “Do you mean America is in the back of the line? Because after Trump put America first, that’s where you seem intent on putting it.”

More Third Party Talk

By Mike Huckabee

I know I’m getting a lot of flak in the comments for telling Republicans to knock off the suicidal third party talk and the despondency and the “I’ll vote Democrat just to show how mad I am at the Republicans” nonsense. I know that a lot of people are feeling that, and here are the numbers to prove it.

Look, if you want to cut off your nose to spite your face, do it with a pair of scissors, not by voting Democrat. That will make the entire country bleed.

Taking your ball and going home literally means you let the other side win by default. The Republicans have an excellent chance of retaking both the House and Senate in 2022 and stopping this full-scale assault on our rights, freedoms, security and economy, but not if we don’t show up to vote. And I mean vote for a major party that actually has a chance of winning, not a splinter party that just splits the conservative vote and elects the left with a plurality. Republicans in Georgia didn’t show up for the runoffs in the same numbers as they did in November, and that gave us two of the most radical Senators in history and a tied Senate controlled by Kamala Harris.

I’m sorry if you don’t like me telling you the truth, but there are any number of media outlets that tell people only what they want to hear, regardless of reality. Here are some cold facts: If you claim to be a conservative yet you vote to empower leftists, you’re not a conservative. As for just sitting out future elections, I’ll remind you of the wisdom attributed to Edmund Burke:

"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”

Regarding the creation of a replacement party for the GOP, all we have to do is look back at the Ross Perot debacle.Voting for him cost the Republicans the 2ND term of the first Bush. Unfortunately, I was a disgruntled Republican and voted for Perot. That didn't turn out well, we got Clinton.

No third party--Americans Conservatives get off your seats and get into action. As the quote says " evil triumphs when good men and good women do nothing. Demand the truth especially from so called Journalists---we have been fed fake news, hate speech, etc. By not calling our state reps in Congress and telling them enough is enough and we are made as Hell ; we have done nothing!
They are taking shots at Our Constitution, our history, indoctrinating our youth instead of teaching what responsible citizenship is all about, our history, our religious beliefs, our economic system, and our freedom to speak freely in the market place. If we continue to let them have their way and do nothing, we will fall as Rome fell. Get on your knees ---"all Christians" ( Pelosi calls us those praying people--as she gives scandal to her Catholic community) lets ALL Christians join in prayer for God's help, may he light a fire in all of us.

I have read a couple of your daily newsletters Governor Huckabee and I am appreciative that we still have a place to read honest journalism, scripture and your wit all in one place. On a more serious note, a fellow conservative posted the Pledge of Allegiance today and it struck me that I have recited the Pledge probably 50 thousand or more times in the last 69 years of my life, but today as I read the words my heart felt like it was actually breaking. I never realized how powerful those words are and what they mean to me today. God Bless you for being there for all Christians. I am sure these emotions I am feeling are partly because we have lost our rudder as well as a great leader in President Trump. The evilness will not relent until they have totally destroyed him and his loyal 75 million voters. Evil has taken over the world before our very eyes and as President Trump said he came to clean the swamp but never realized how bad it was.

Hi Mike, I mostly agree with you as for conservatives sticking with the republicans and not going for a third party. But the republican party MUST seek out and put up true and strong conservatives, to go against the RINO's like Romney and the other six republicans that voted to impeach Trump, and I think they could find them. But the thing that concerns me, is its to late, because, what's going to stop them from pulling the same corrupt steeling of the vote next time? I know, no one wants to here that the election was stolen but it was, and if we keep our heads in the sand a think it never happened, nothing will change.

We must vote. Voter ID is great. In Calif. If you get a mailing ballot. Hang on to it, take it to the polls, surrender it for a paper ballot and vote paper. Dont mail it. Drop it at the polls. We have a special box which we seal. Do not vote machine.when you enter you see if you are listed. We found people listed more than once and sometimes for a party they have never voted for. We call the election office and tell them to correct it. I found more mistakes on the list this election than ever before and most of them had been to the DMV for other reasons. Curious. I've been a poll worker for a few years and was an Inspector this last election. At a rural precinct.

You are 100% correct about those wanting to form a third political party. A third party will only siphon votes from Republicans, always ensuring a Dem victory. We need strong, young yet experienced, Republican leaders for our future. I haven’t settled in my mind who they may be, but there are many great articulate Republicans out there. I don’t think it can be President Trump, but I’m not totally ruling him out. He was a great President and I’d like to see his policies continue. He should be a guide at least.
I’m enjoying this daily newsletter from you Mr. Huckabee. Common sense, humor, and professionalism. Thank you for your words of wisdom.

" In regards to Biden declared that “America is back ". No thanks to Biden, where I live we are already back to 50 cents more per gallon for regular gas and the forecast for my area in upstate NY is we'll be paying $4.00/ gallon by 2022. With President Trump we were down to $1.99 - $2.10/ gallon of regular. Soon everything else will be going up along with gas prices. Yikes! I just looked at Gas Buddy and the corner gas station by me just went to $2.64 per gallon of regular!! ( I'm not thinking happy thoughts about the Joe B. administration right now ).

Enough is enough! Since the Democrats have moved to Socialism/Communism/Marxist behavior I believe the party should go down in flames & all of those Government officials should be prosecuted for Treason, along with any Republicans or Independents that follow this narrative. Our country was built on One Nation under God, as a foundation not Satanism & they just all need to dealt with like cancer. A little harsh? maybe but it seems to me it needs to be at this point. Let them run to wherever they can go to get away from America before they are brought to justice. I am personally sick & tiered of being threatened by these thugs. Thank you Mike for sharing your thoughts & prayers. You help me to stay centered

I think the main reason people in Georgia didn't vote was because they saw the cheating from the Dominion and other machines and felt that the results would be the same, with Democrats winning, because the machines would change the votes as they had gotten away with it before with Trump. So please don't think people will be enthusiastic about voting in the future if the machines are not changed or if we make mail-in voting in every state. If it is rigged, or if they feel it is rigged, most won't vote. We've got to change that somehow but how? You've seen Mike Lindell's evidence I suspect. I understand the foolishness of trying to start a third part, but am afraid the cheating or believed cheating will also have the same effect.

    02/15/2021 04:55 PM

Governor, I follow you and read your daily email and while I appreciate you repeating that forming a third party would give the Dems permanent will, I beg to differ. In your latest post you said: "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”. That's exactly the problem: too many Republicans in office care more for their own seats than for the people they represents, than the country, their own principle and not the Constitution or the American principles that fueled this country for 2+ centuries. The idea of a "third" party, as I previously mention in previous emails, is that the real Conservatives in the GOP would leave the "traitorous" party and join the New party and I bet many independents and even Libertarians would join, too. The "reason" many in Georgia stayed at home is because many GOP members never supported the president in his claim (valid in my view) that the election was stolen. Not only they dis not support their leader, but they quickly distanced from Trump and even demanded to give up. This was an affront to all 75 million that voted for Trump. By the way, have you seen Lindell's video at lindell.com with proof of the stolen election? It's very telling. So either the GOP return to its former principles or it deserves to die if they continue to be RINOs and just go along with the insane policies (actually madness) of the Left because they are COWARDS. Many conservative and independent like myself feel betrayed by the current conservative (it seems in name only). I watched the entire impeachment farce and I was dismayed that the so called people's representative were driven only by hate instead of logic, good sense, and loyalty to the oath they all swore. Despicable performance by all Dems and the 7 GOP traitors + few others that voted to acquit but then immediately blamed the president for the riot. Shameful!

I agree with your third party evaluation. Anyone capable of analysis and willing to review the available evidence can verify the voter fraud allegations are true. Suggesting a third party is not about the, probably 80 million voters, who might join such a party but even a small split of a few percent will ensure democrat wins across the board. Does anyone think vote shenanigans will stop if another election is lost? See Georgia. The party is much more than one election. Local legislatures need republican representatives to appoint electors and provide candidates who will represent the citizens and support the Constitution. A third party will not accomplish that. Better to retake Our party from corrupt republicans and democrats than to leave them in place to support the progressive authoritarian movement. Governors and legislatures, DAs and judges are made by party decisions. Why abandon our foundation? These local representatives are the people who will define fair elections in the future. Honest governors and state legislatures are necessary to our future and a third party to support federal elections will throw away our state advantages. Culling dishonest politicians must begin at the local levels of politics. Voting fraud was supported by corrupt politicians who could have stopped it - but didn't. A third party will not fix that problem but a staunch republican local vote can recover this nation and return America to enforcing our constitution.

I was just wondering about elected leaders and the oath that they take to uphold the constitution. This second sham impeachment was not constitutional and correct me if I'm wrong but senator Burr said as much. can all persons involved in voting for this be held accountable as article 18 U.S.C. 1918:

“Whoever violates the provisions of section 7311 of title 5 that an individual may not accept or hold a position in the Government of the United States or the government of the District of Columbia if he (1) advocates the overthrow of our constitutional form of government [and] shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year and a day or both.”

Governor Huckabee, you are one of a handful of people who I trust to ask about USA politics and current events. Right now I need some information and direction on the subject of the Convention of States. I am so confused about the current push to call a Convention of States and requests for me to sign a petition to promote this. I am skeptical of what would be the final outcome of such a Convention and hesitate to sign this petition. Please, will you shed some light on this subject?

Sir, I agree with you on not starting a new party. Where we part ways is voting party lines to defeat democrats. Correct me if I am wrong are you suggesting that we should vote in a RINO rather than letting a democrat win a seat?. I will be voting but for America first republicans only. Before we can defeat the socialists we must defeat those in our party that wants business as usual. Those that pretend to be republicans can not skate by anylonger.
