Today's Edition: 6 minute read

Andrew C. McCarthy’s new book, “BALL OF COLLUSION: The Plot to Rig an Election and Destroy a Presidency,” might go down in history as the definitive account of what the Obama administration did behind the scenes in 2015-2017 to undermine Donald Trump, first as a candidate and later as President. It provides eminently solid explanations for what happened and connects the dots so well that it could be a “roadmap” for Attorney General William Barr as he conducts his own investigation and addresses the questions that remain. Though it’s doubtful Barr needs a roadmap at this point.

If you have friends or family members who don’t understand the seriousness of what occurred or who simply have thrown up their hands as the story got increasingly complicated, they should read this book --- or, at least one particular excerpt, which does a spectacular job on its own of concisely explaining what the Obama administration did to weaponize the institutions of power. It’s posted on the RealClear Investigations website; I’ve linked to it at the bottom of this commentary for you to read and pass along.

To tell the story, McCarthy begins with a reference to the January 5, 2017, White House meeting with Obama and national security officials to discuss their assessment of Russia’s so-called interference in the election and to Susan Rice’s last-minute Inauguration Day CYA text, saying Obama insisted in that meeting that the Trump/Russia investigation be “by the book.” (McCarthy clarifies that Russians weren’t interfering in the election per se --- no ballots or vote tallies were involved --- but in the months leading up to it, by publicizing stolen emails and peddling outrageous propaganda.) President Obama had rushed to complete this assessment; as of January 5, he had just a couple of weeks before he and his staff would be out the door.

Pray for change

By Mike Huckabee

An endocrinologist associated with Sutter Roseville Medical Center in Rocklin, California, must be bracing for an assault on social media for daring to point out the obvious: pumping children full of hormones when we don’t know the long-term consequences but have evidence of negative health effects, just because of pressure from the transgender movement, is “child abuse.”  And it actually risks giving kids a disease called hypogonadotropic hypogonadism.

https://pjmedia.com/trending/medical-expert-doctors-are-actually-giving-trans-kids-a-disease-its-child-abuse/

It’s a serious condition that doctors would normally be called on to treat, but because so many medical experts have been cowed into silence and denial of biological reality by transgender activists, they’re now giving kids drugs that can actually cause it. It’s unconscionable to do that to children as young as 8, who can’t possibly understand the longterm health risks.

Read the article at the link for more details.  And pray that at some point in the not-too-distant future, our medical authorities will come to their senses, and we’ll look back on this period with shame and dismay, that we allowed political pressure to trump science and treated our children like guinea pigs in dangerous medical experiments.

CNN hires McCabe

By Mike Huckabee

CNN is under fire for hiring established liar and leaker Andrew McCabe as a commentator.  Although it should come as no surprise, considering he’ll be joining fellow CNN commentator, former Obama national intelligence director James Clapper, who as Andrew McCarthy points out, “is best known for lying to Congress about the government’s bulk collection of telephone metadata...and for discussing Steele dossier information with CNN shortly before the network published a report about it.”

https://www.westernjournal.com/cnn-catches-flak-hiring-former-acting-fbi-director-andrew-mccabe/

Keep in mind CNN’s hiring of known liars and leakers (as long as they aim to harm Trump) to help slant the news whenever you hear someone in the media having a meltdown because former Trump press secretary Sean Spicer was allowed to appear on “Dancing With The Stars.”

Trouble buying a gun

By Mike Huckabee

I think most gun owners would be more willing to listen to the pro-gun control lobby if they could just demonstrate that they know anything at all about the item they want to ban.  Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve heard calls for the return of an “assault weapons” ban that was widely declared ineffective, and that’s why it was allowed to expire.  I’ve also heard calls for banning all “semi-automatic” weapons, which means just about every gun made since 1900…for closing Internet and gun show “loopholes” that don’t exist…and for banning “automatic weapons,” which have been nearly impossible for any private citizen to buy since 1934, and "assault weapons," which is a nebulous term with no solid meaning that relates to a gun's lethality.  This lack of understanding of basic firearms facts is why, in the wake of a mass shooting, we always hear calls for more laws even though no proposed law would have stopped the shooter from obtaining a weapon, or there were laws already in place that should have stopped it, but they weren’t enforced.

So hat’s off to Business Insider reporter Hayley Peterson, for actually going out and testing one of the cherished incorrect assumptions of the gun control lobby: that it’s really easy for just anyone to walk into Walmart and come out with a gun.

https://www.westernjournal.com/ct/wasnt-aware-hard-reporter-tries-buy-gun-walmart-fails-twice/

At the link, Peterson relates how she was surprised to learn not only that there are already a lot of laws you have to comply with before buying a gun, and that Walmart takes them very seriously – so seriously that she had to come back twice and still got rejected because of a discrepancy about her address on her background check.  She never imagined that someone like her with a perfectly clean record would have problems buying a gun.  But she admitted, “Overall, the experience left me with the impression that buying a gun at Walmart is more complicated than I expected, and that Walmart takes gun sales and security pretty seriously.”

I commend her for doing real research rather than just accepting false politicized narratives, and for being honest enough to admit that things were not as she had been led to believe.  If more people would do that, maybe we could finally get down to having some serious discussions about stopping mass shootings that address the real issues rather than just punishing the law-abiding.

##Appellation##, I wanted to make sure you also read this comment:

I must confess that I had no idea Hasbro released a version of “Monopoly” that makes fun of socialism, or I’d already own it.  But it might be harder to find now since a leftist college professor just discovered that someone was poking fun at his precious failed economic system and had a tantrum on Twitter.  And now, the “Monopoly: Socialism” game has disappeared from Target’s and Hasbro’s websites.

https://pjmedia.com/trending/monopoly-socialism-game-disappears-from-targets-website/

The professor called the game “mean-spirited” (translation: “harsh truths I don’t want to hear”) and “woefully ill-informed” (translation: “amazingly accurate.”)  For instance, in socialist Monopoly, if you run out of money, you can just take some from the Community Chest…but that’s constantly running out of money, so players have to keep putting more into it.  Yep, sounds like socialism to me.

It’s said that this game had not sold well, but I have a feeling that’s because it just hadn’t been advertised, at least not in the right places.  Someone at Hasbro needs to learn about capitalism and promote the game to people who would love to buy it, like me. I have grandkids, and you can't start too early these days in teaching them the truth about socialism.

In the meantime, this story gives us yet another perfect illustration of how socialism works: socialists don’t like being mocked, so instead of giving up their failed system, they try to silence anyone who points out its flaws. They don’t want anyone to be allowed to make fun of their naïve belief in this ridiculous, monstrously destructive, failed economic system.

So in response to that, here’s an entire page full of socialist jokes:

https://upjoke.com/socialist-jokes

A few of my favorites:

It was so cold, I saw a socialist with his hands in his own pockets.

How do you starve a socialist?  Hide his food stamps under his work boots.

What did socialists use before candles?  Electricity.

SEMI-AUTOMATIC weapons, as I understand it, would include the classic SIX GUN of the old western movies.
