--------------------------

Once again, Huckabee writer/researcher Laura Ainsworth has chosen to answer a reader’s comment personally, as she is not nearly as nice as the Governor...

From Gary:

In the President's July 4th speech, when the Battle Hymn was played, I thought I saw Melania mouthing the words --- at least the tune; her husband, however, had no lip movements. Am I to believe this man does not know the words to this Hymn? On such an important occasion, you would expect at least some outward acknowledgement of this refrain. The hymn usually brings tears to the eyes of true patriots –- it does to mine, every time I hear it –- that includes the 1812 Overture.

And over these proceedings the President chooses to wear the worn-out red 'Power Tie.'
Our country is not some bully in the world that we must demonstrate our military might in front of everyone (watch Russia’s or China's parades –- they strut out all their weapons and claim how great their might is). I am of the opinion the US does NOT need to copy this sort of bragging; as a matter of fact, it lessens our credibility on the world stage. It also sets us up to be the loudmouth that needs to be knocked down a few notches.

Our Country is FREE –- we welcome all to come here and be a part of our culture; we do not dictate what the rest of the world must do.

A blue tie would have been more appropriate.

FEATURED STORIES

No 'vacation' for Judicial Watch and John Solomon, as they just keep finding out stuff

By Mike Huckabee

This time of year is usually pretty slow for news. Fourth Of July week heads into the “back half” of summer, which typically means there’s not going to be much happening for a while. Not so in 2019.

Whether it’s a historic face-to-face between Trump and Kim Jong-Un, surging job numbers, Iran once again acting like Iran, huge protests in Hong Kong, an Independence Day celebration that defied critics and turned out to be spectacular, earthquakes in California, the presidential campaign (at a time when polls mean nothing), or partisan fights over immigration and citizenship, there’s always something happening that justifies the 24/7 news cycle. (Of course, “we watch the news...so you don’t have to!”)

A great speech from the President

By Mike Huckabee

I hope you had a great Fourth of July weekend or week off, and that our readers in California who felt the earthquakes were shaken but not stirred.

If you didn’t see the magnificent Fourth of July ceremony in Washington, where President Trump honored our military in one of his best speeches ever, you can catch up here:

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/trump-sings-praises-of-american-exceptionalism-in-elaborate-july-4-salute

Trump’s endlessly-chattering critics in the media claimed he was going to make it all about him (they never minded when Obama said “I” or “me” a hundred times per speech), that it would be like a Nazi or Kim Jong-Un dictator rally, that Trump supporters would show up waving Confederate flags, and one even suggested that the heavy tanks would collapse the bridges.  After all that doom and caterwauling, you could tell how well it turned out by the fact that they were left with exactly one thing to harp on: he made a slip of the tongue and said “airport” instead of “port” when speaking off-Prompter.  IMPEACH HIM!!!

Maybe the media people should try turning off the TelePrompters that are sending them feeds from DNC headquarters.

Ridiculous request from PETA

By Mike Huckabee

If there’s anyone out there who gives money to PETA in the belief that it’s being used to improve the welfare of defenseless animals, please note what they are wasting their time on now:

PETA sent a letter to the mayor of Caldwell, Idaho, demanding that a rural road with the unofficial name of Chicken Dinner Road (it reportedly dates back to the 1930s, when a lady famous for her fried chicken lived on it) be given a new name “that celebrates chickens as individuals, not as beings to kill, chop up, and label as ‘dinner.’”  The letter didn't specify just how you "celebrate chickens as individuals," but it went on at some length about the horrors of factory chicken farms, which have nothing whatsoever to do with the road, its name or the town of Caldwell.

https://www.westernjournal.com/ct/peta-demands-small-town/

Mayor Garret Nancolas responded on Facebook:

“When I first received the letter, I thought it was a joke, I literally laughed!  When I realized the letter was for real, it made me extremely irritated that they would waste our time with such a ridiculous request!! If they had actually done their homework they would have realized that Chicken Dinner Road is not even within Caldwell’s jurisdiction…that being said, even if it was, NO WAY, NO CHANCE I would ever consider this truly unbelievable request!! We have many issues to consider, but this IS NOT one of them!”

As one commenter at the link brilliantly put it, they have “bigger fish to fry.”

I pass this story along because it says so much about PETA’s misplaced priorities and because it’s a hilarious “In Case You Missed It” story.  But I also include it as a public service.  I strongly suggest that the CEO of Nike grow a spine, copy what the Mayor of Caldwell wrote above, and use it as a guide to responding to Colin Kaepernick whenever he comes up with another ridiculous, uninformed, unpatriotic, picayune complaint to whine about.

In fact, if every political leader, business owner, college administrator, school board and media outlet in America would simply respond in the same fashion as Mayor Nancolas every time they get another nonsensical, groundless protest from some triggered snowflake, it would represent a giant step toward making America great again.

Trump’s celebration of American greatness actually prompted his critics, who oppose everything he says and does with the reflexive predictability of Pavlov’s dog, to spend the Fourth of July badmouthing America and attacking the Founding Fathers and even one Mother (Betsy Ross.)  That's a great way to win over American voters.  You know, it would have been perfectly acceptable to simply agree with Trump this one time that America really is great – but that would have required them to publicly agree with Trump and to admit that America is great.  At this point, I’m not sure which one would stick in their throats worse.

You know the Democrats have gone around the bend and over the cliff when you see more old fashioned, flag-waving, pro-American patriotism in Dubai than you'll get from any Democrat running for President.

Colin Kaepernick also tried to back up his assault on the Founders by tweeting a quote from the great abolitionist leader Frederick Douglass.  Both Ted Cruz and Charles C.W. Cooke exposed that for the sham that it was by revealing that the quote was lifted out of context, and when you read the rest of Douglass’ speech, you see that he wasn’t saying what Kaepernick claimed at all.  To be fair, to know that, Kaepernick would had to have read more of the speech than could be contained in a tweet.

The Silly Times March On:  The popular country music group Confederate Railroad was dropped from a July 4th concert at the Illinois State Fair because someone might have been “triggered” by the band’s name having the word “Confederate” in it…just as it has since before they released their first album in 1992.

If the fair needs a replacement for any future concerts, how about this country music great?

    Governor Huckabee
I am so sick and tired of the dems complaining about everything, if they are unhappy let them just leave our country and start their own socialist country some place else and leave us along. I thought the 4th of July speech our President made was great and for them to blast it is not right. Just leave!
    Thank you

President Trump's July 4th speech was a celebration of our history....wouldn't it be wonderful to see young people whose teachers have stopped teaching true American history, actually want to do research about some of those famous names that the left continues to try to omit, names like John Paul Jones, Frederick Douglass, etc.???

    Boycott
Dont reply to 911 calls from stores.

Buy products when Starbucks goes Chap 11, 13 & forced to close stores & sell product line.
Buy products at Big Lots chain etc.
    Or nothing changes.
See said store as a Crime Scene post crime

Don't let PETA know, but there is a "Frozen Dog Road" in Emmett, Idaho not far from Boise. Yikes, this will have them chasing their tails! Note to PETA; leave us in the West alone. If you don't want to eat chicken that is your decision, not mine. In fact, I'm headed to Chick-fil-A today.

So I guess everyone in the US has the freedom to wear what we want to except the President, he has to wear what this person deems appropriate.

And over these proceedings the President chooses to wear the worn-out red 'Power Tie.'
