Ultra-liberals in charge of House

March 1, 2019

I’ve repeatedly warned voters before elections that the problem with voting for a Democrat who claims to be moderate and promises to work across the aisle is that a vote for any Democrat is a vote for the ultra-liberal Party leadership.  That means that even if you vote for a Democrat whose policy positions are in line with President Trump’s, that extra check in the “D” column is one more step toward keeping Pelosi and Schumer in the driver’s seats.  And with them in charge (not to mention all the horrifying committee leadership positions), there will be no moderate bipartisan compromise.

As if to prove my point, Pelosi made it very clear this week in a closed-door meeting that moderate Democrats had better stop voting with Republicans.  They’re facing strong-arm tactics from their leadership if they don’t toe the party line and stop voting their consciences (in a leftwing variation on the McCarthy era, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez also reportedly threatened to put them on a “list” of turncoats to be targeted in primaries by leftist challengers.)

This all centers on an arcane procedural maneuver explained at the link, but in a nutshell, a couple of dozen Democrats embarrassed their Party by voting with Republicans to add amendments to Democratic bills, one that condemned Anti-Semitism and another that required ICE to be notified when an illegal immigrant tried to buy a gun. I’m so old, I remember when most Democrats actually agreed with both of those things and voting in favor of them wouldn’t get you threatened with expulsion from the Party.

Let us hope that in just these past two months, the newly-empowered Democratic House has made it abundantly clear to voters that if they want such radical ideas as border security, opposition to Anti-Semitism and putting the good of America ahead of partisan politics, they'd better vote Republican because there’s no place for that kind of thing in today’s Democratic Party.

The Democrats are so steeped in party ideology that I think it is time for the Libertarian Party to take their place as the opposing party to the Republicans. I have felt this way for some time now. The bottom line has to do with them ignoring pertinent facts about philosophies such as Socialism, and many of them have an ulterior agenda under their sleeve. I have already read numerous accounts from other conservative sites such as Townhall.com and DCdirtylaundry.com about the Democratic Party being infiltrated by Communists going under the name of "Democratic Socialists of America." That is only the largest out of eight or ten groups. We even have Venezuelan citizens and Brazilian citizens begging Americans not to adopt Socialism, but Democrats will never listen to any of that.

Our government is no longer working for the people but for themselves. Even Republicans are making decisions to the detriment of the people. Government no longer knows who the real United States of America Americans are. My family fought to create and then to defend this great country. Taking names and threatening retaliation for non-support of a political party is beyond acceptable to real Americans.

Pelosi and Schumer expose the repub leadership for their weakness and "hide behind the nearest tree" behaviour.
